Phew... glad I got that published. And now let's see how the others are gonna work themselves into the team. For Bekah, a roleplay with a friend of mine gave me the idea to teach the others some knowledge she gained while being on her own, and she'd definitely be helping Ji out with some of the training, but she'd also give the team good advice in the long run. Plus, with Bulk and Spike, there's something in that madness of their first scene in this story as well, but I ain't giving away too much! That'd just be TMI. So let's roll, shall we? (grabs a brush and draws a kanji, flipping it)

Disclaimers: I don't own Power Rangers, as it is a product of Hasbro as of May 1st, 2018.

(Bekah's POV)

"There is more to being a Power Ranger than mastering a sword. You must also learn to use your inherit samurai symbols," Ji instructed us as we stood at some easels, working on our symbol power: It was the day after our first battle and thanks to Mia and Emily being great friends already, they had helped me modernize to get with the times, starting with my clothing and ensuring that I had several outfits for the week. So now I was wearing a purple shirt with an illustration of the moon in its different phases, black leggings with an owl design on the left thigh, a pair of deep amethyst flats, and I had a light purple jacket tied around my waist.

My necklace was tucked out of sight underneath my shirt collar, but the girls also thought of some hair accessories, so now I had a pair of purple scrunchies holding my hair back in small pigtails and any loose strands were held back by clips with charms on each side.

Needless to say, I certainly gave the boys a surprise when I came back looking more modern, especially Jayden with my new feminine look.

Speaking of, as we worked on our symbols, I noticed Jayden easily mastering his fire symbol as flames erupted and made the paper light on fire, along with his brush, but he simply blew the fire out like nothing.

I held back a small giggle as I refocused on my own symbol, carefully drawing the final stroke and smiling as I saw the glow of the moonlight appear and outline the shape.

Ji took notice and nodded to me. "The symbol of the Moon. Tranquil, yet fierce in battle."

I smiled and nodded a bit in response.

As I looked around to watch the others, I noticed Kevin finishing his water symbol and held back a snort of laughter by covering my mouth and nose as he got splashed in the face.

Emily was next to finish her Earth symbol and a large rock manifested and dropped on to Kevin's foot, making me wince slightly this time as she apologized to him. Poor guy was really not getting lucky today...

Mia was up after them, and when she finished her wind symbol, she smiled as her hair was blown back by a gentle breeze.

I noticed that Mike was having some trouble with his symbol and walked over. "Need a hand?"

He looked at me and sighed softly. "I don't know... I just can't get it right."

I looked at his work and clicked my tongue slightly. "Yeah... I don't think you're putting the strokes in the correct order." I smiled at him. "Don't worry, I'll give you a hand." I flipped the sheet over and positioned him slightly. "Now, close your eyes, take a deep breath, try envisioning what you want to happen in your mind, and let the symbol come through the vision to your brush, then draw it on the canvas."

He nodded to me and followed my instructions, focusing long and hard until his arm moved on its own and drew the symbol for a single leaf (葉), and once he was done, the symbol glowed and out came several maple leaves, surprising and exciting him as he smiled. "I did it! That was awesome!"

I smiled and picked up a leaf. "You see? Sometimes all it takes is a little imagination to ensure what you want to happen will happen."

Ji also seemed proud of my method of teaching the others as well as he placed a hand on my shoulder. "You certainly seem to understand how much you've learned, Rebekah."

I shrugged slightly and smiled. "Well, I learned from past experiences and some good teachers of my own." Of course, I was talking about my past, but if Jayden knew, then it was likely that Ji knew as well what with the extensive scrolls I had found.

(No POV)

Deep in the Sanzu River, where Master Xandred's ship, known as the Junk, was floating on its own, the Nighlok head was drinking down his medicine to clear his headache and sighed softly. "This medicine makes me feel better, but that music is giving me a splitting headache!"

A squid like creature, known as Octoroo, turned around at the shout as a feminine Nighlok, who was the source of the music due to her shamisen and named Dayu, scoffed slightly. "Everybody's a critic."

Xandred took a jug from one of the Moogers and pushed it aside before filling his bowl again. "Ugh! If only we could get this ruinous Sanzu River to rise and flood the human world, we'd sail into the cities and rule their pathetic world!"

Octoroo looked up from his book. "Boss, take a look! There's something of interest in this book!"

"What is it, Octoroo?" Xandred stood up and looked over. "Speak up!"

"Legend has it that every time something really bad happens on Earth, the Sanzu River's water level rises. So if we scare those humans on Earth, their tears will fill our river and we can escape the Netherworld!" Octoroo told him as he turned around.

Dayu chuckled slightly as she walked over and nodded. "Sounds fun. That new face can actually use his noodle."

Xandred growled in thought and went to the edge of the ship as he spoke, "That plan might work. I'm glad he thought of it. Scorpionic! Get over here!"

Out from the Sanzu River came a Nighlok that had what looked like a scorpion motif as he crawled up to the edge. "Master, you rang?"

(Bekah's POV)

After our symbol training, the rest of us were doing some different training. I myself was at the park, helping Emily train with her swordsmanship and showing her some techniques I had learned and incorporated into my own fighting skills.

Emily was amazed by my combat prowess. "You really are awesome, Bekah! I sure wish I could be like you."

I smiled at her. "Well, it's not always easy being a trained blade master, but I manage. Heck, for the longest time, I've always wanted to be a teacher in my dad's dojo when I reached adulthood. But... sadly that never came to pass." I sat down and sighed softly.

She looked at me curiously and sat with me. "What happened?"

I looked at her and decided to reveal some of my history. "Well... Jayden and Mentor both know this, but I was cursed when I was eight years old. It never showed itself until I turned eighteen though."

(Flashback, approximately 250 years ago)

(No POV)

A younger Bekah had been just gotten back to her family dojo after transforming into her Nighlok form for the first time and she saw the place up in flames, her father and the other Samurais on her family's side of the team fighting with all their might against the Moogers.

"Father!" Bekah shouted, rushing over and starting to fight the Moogers as well, but it was to no avail; one strike from behind caused by a powerful Nighlok defeated the man who had taught her everything she knew of.

"No!!!" She slashed through the Mooger crowd with her claws and ran to her father, catching him as the Nighlok laughed and disappeared through a crack.

Bekah looked at the man in her arms. "Father, please! Don't die on me! I can't lose you!"

Master Inukai looked at her and gently placed his gear in her hands. "I'm sorry, Bekah. I couldn't protect you back then. But... maybe you can help others." He took his last few breaths before passing away.

Bekah held her father's gear and nodded a bit before she changed back as well, looking at the corpse as her teammates came around her and comforted her.

(Flashback End )

(Bekah's POV)

"Ever since then, I've pretty much been doing all I can to ensure that I don't bring any more misfortune to others." I spoke, finishing up my side of the story. Thankfully, I had kept my Nighlok identity a secret while telling her about the fire.

"Wow, so you really have lived throughout the ages without dying," Emily spoke in awe. "I'm sorry about what happened to your dad."

I nodded and sighed softly before I felt her hand on my shoulder and looked at her as she spoke, "You know, you're not the only one who's fighting for someone else. My sister was originally supposed to be the Yellow Samurai, but she fell sick, so I had to step up and take her place."

I nodded and placed a hand on her shoulder slightly. "And I think that's a brave thing to do. If your own family is unable to step up and you are, then you're making them proud by representing them."

She smiled and nodded as she gave me a hug, and I returned it gratefully, the two of us happy to connect on something of a personal level.

"There you guys are!" Mia ran over to us with Kevin and Mike in tow.

I stood up and nodded. "Yeah, sorry. Emily wanted me to teach her some tricks of the katana outside of the dojo and I agreed to help her."

"Why though?" Kevin asked in confusion.

Emily shrugged a bit. "I'm used to training alone, but I figured with Bekah and how she taught Mike about creating symbol power earlier, I figured she might know some things about sword fighting, so I asked her to tag along."

I nodded and smiled. "I always thought of myself as more of a teacher than a samurai. And even if I can help others, I know there's still a lot for me to learn as well."

Kevin nodded a bit. "I can understand that. I left behind my dreams of swimming in the Olympics to be a Samurai Ranger."

Mia smiled and nodded. "I know being a Samurai is forever, but I always think one day, I might settle down and find my Prince Charming."

Mike chuckled slightly. "Forever is a long time to fight, especially without a snack."

The five of us chuckled slightly before I heard my stomach growl slightly and I looked up sheepishly. "Now that you mention it, I could use something to eat. I've been training for a while today."

Mike nodded a bit. "Come on. I saw a Chinese stand back there a little ways." He led us to the area he was talking about.

(No POV)

As the group munched on some food (Bekah having gotten herself some rice noodles with pork and shrimp), they discussed their own lives and their skills; Mike was a gamer at heart and a skateboarder, Emily could play the flute quite well and roller blade, Mia spoke about her culinary skills (which Bekah honestly thought was nice that she was asked to help with the cooking), Kevin explained about how he had gotten into swimming, and Bekah told them about how she had learned some good skills, including playing a shamisen and making culinary concoctions from around the world among other things, plus she explained to the group about why she thought she was always more of a teacher; she loved helping others with whatever problems they had, and with the years of experience she had with various things and people from childhood to adulthood ages coming with her, she always strived to be better every day, even when life knocked her down.

"That's definitely the heart of a true samurai: Dedication through so many years and control of what you can handle." Kevin complimented her.

Mia nodded a bit. "I'm sure your family is so proud."

Bekah nodded a bit, falling into thought about her father and how much she wished he could have seen her growth.

Emily suddenly noticed something and pointed out two people. "Hey, check it out!"

Bekah looked over and saw Bulk and Skull and facepalmed. "Oh no. Those two again."

"You ran into them before?" Mike asked in confusion.

She looked at him and nodded a bit. "Yeah, yesterday when I arrived in town. They're samurai wannabes. They tried to follow me, but I lost them by ducking into an alley."

Mia watched Bulk flailing his kebab around and shook her head. "They'll need a lot more training than just swinging a sword around."

The group watched as Bulk spooked the living daylights out of Spike, who in turn accidentally squirted the ketchup he was holding all over the former's face and got some chuckles out of the five Rangers.

Bulk spat out some ketchup as Spike laughed and snorted slightly, the older man looking at the camera and saying, "Yep. Just like his father."

Bekah rolled her eyes in amusement and looked away before she noticed a Gap Sensor going off and she immediately got up. "Guys?"

The other four looked around as Mike asked, "What is that?"

Bekah shook her head slightly. "Not sure, but I bet it means a Nighlok has just passed through the cracks into the human world." She heard a Samuraizer go off as Kevin picked up the line and put it on speaker for the team to hear.

"She's right. The Gap Sensor's going off at the Shiba dojo as well," Ji reported through the speaker as the five heard a sort of Klaxon like alarm before Bekah created the symbol for vision (視覚) and flicked it (now utilizing a more stylized Samuraizer that we fans could guess is the Shodophone from Samurai's original format Shinkenger), making a small screen so they could watch Ji as he opened a couple of maps through a watery like screen on a table.

"Sweet." Mike was in awe of both displays.

"Where are they?" Emily asked in confusion.

Ji looked at the group through Bekah's symbol and spoke finally, "City Hall."

Jayden walked over and looked at the map before looking at the team. "Samurai, we have a battle to fight."

Bekah nodded. "We'll meet you there."

She let the symbol disappear as Kevin closed his Morpher before she nodded to the team. "Let's move it!" The five ran off to meet up with their leader.

"Move your tails! I'm here!" Scorpionic shouted as his scorpion tail knocked down several buildings and caused a panic amongst the people while the Moogers were terrorizing the humans, albeit a little too fast for the Nighlok's liking. "Don't attack so quickly! They sweat and cry more if you corner them slowly!"

"Not gonna happen!" Bekah's voice sounded off as her Owl Zord and the Lion Zord charged in and struck Scorpionic from behind before being caught by their respective holders as the Rangers ran over.

Pulling out their respective Morphers, the got ready for action. "Go Go Samurai!" Once they drew their respective symbols, they flipped them and morphed into action, their suits appearing in a flash and the group readying their swords as they called out together, "Samurai Rangers, ready! Rangers together, Samurai forever!"

"Attack!" Scorpionic commanded the Moogers and they rushed at our heroes as the Rangers charged forward as well, the battle was on!

Kevin called on his Hydro Bow and sniped down a few Moogers while Mia summoned her Sky Fan and blew a few Moogers away, then Mike summoned his Forest Spear and slashed down several Moogers, Jayden following up by calling on his Fire Smasher and knocked down a few of his own.

"Hate to fire smash and dash, but..." His quip was cut off when he heard an explosion nearby. "Whoa!"

(Bekah's POV)

"Hey, ugly!" I charged at Scorpionic with my Lunar Hammer and swung at him, but he was pretty quick on the fly, and he got me on the defensive momentarily before I landed a good hit in on him.

"Hiyah!" Suddenly, I heard Emily fighting some Moogers of her own and she activated her Earth Slicer, launching it and knocking the Moogers down before it spun at us.

"Uh-oh!" I leaned over backwards and let the Nighlok get hit before I flipped over and kicked him in the face, landing on my feet and grabbing my hammer before I slammed it into him again and knocked him back.

"Great moves!" Emily smiled at me as she joined me, catching her Slicer in the process.

"Thanks, but he ain't down yet!" I reminded her, just in time to protect her from getting hit and taking the full brunt of the attack for myself while sliding back.

"Bekah!" Jayden and the others jumped over the rubble to help just as Scorpionic launched his Whirlwind Scythe attack.

At that moment, it felt like slow motion to me as I managed to get in front and block the attack, straining against it slightly before I planted my feet against the ground firmly and shoved the attack up, activating my weapon's full power and standing my ground. "It's not over yet!!"

Jayden looked around and saw a girl over by a pillar. "Hold on! I'll get that girl outta here! You keep Scorpionic busy!"

I nodded to him. "Alright. Be careful." I let him run forward to help the child and upon seeing Scorpionic going to attack them, I charged forward and slammed my hammer down, creating an earthquake like reaction.

"Whoa!" The others stumbled and fought to remain upright, Jayden carrying the girl to safety.

"Everything's getting wobbly!" Scorpionic shouted in surprise as he stumbled, not realizing that I had made a crack in the ground that led to him and opened up underneath his feet, and that made him fall into my trap.

I looked up in enough time to see Jayden lead the girl to her mother and shouldered my Hammer before I heard Scorpionic growling. "Why you!!" I spun around quickly and got ready to finish it, but Scorpionic unleashed a Whirlwind Scythe Attack on me and knocked me back, forcing me out of my suit.

Jayden quickly regrouped the team and led them in a Quintuple Slash, destroying Scorpionic's first form, before they all went to me to help me up.

"Are you okay?" Emily asked me in concern.

I nodded confidently. "Don't worry about me. It takes a lot more than that to beat me down completely."

"We're not done yet!" Jayden reminded us all. "Here's the mega monster!"

And just like that, Scorpionic resurrected as he said, "Don't think you've won just yet, Rangers!"

I stepped away from Mia and Emily and flicked open my Samuraizer, drawing a quick slash before I morphed instantly and grabbed my Zord. "Mega Mode time, guys!"

Quickly, we morphed into Mega Mode and jumped into our enlarged Zords, locking our blades and discs in place before we charged forward, but Scorpionic blinded us and I frowned slightly. "Uh-oh! I don't think individual force will work this time!"

Jayden nodded to me. "You're right. We need to combine our Zords."

"Into a Megazord formation, right?" Kevin seemed to know what he was doing as he initiated the combination... but it wasn't what we were expecting.

"A totem pole formation? Really?" I placed my hands on my hips, amused by the attempt, but it proved absolutely useless against the Nighlok. "Jay, show him how it's done."

Jayden grabbed his Samuraizer and drew the symbol. "Samurai Rangers, Zords combine!"

This time, we combined perfectly with my Owl Zord acting as a sort of scarf for the Megazord as we came into the cockpit together - with me on Jayden's left side - and spoke in unison, "Samurai Megazord, we are united!"

"Now that's a Megazord." Mike smiled under his helmet.

"Awesome," Mia agreed with him.

"Sorry, guys," Kevin apologized sheepishly.

"Don't worry, Kev. We've got it now," Emily told him, always the sweet girl.

"Heads up, everyone! He's closing in on us!" Jayden got us refocused on the task at hand and we braced ourselves for battle.

The Megazord blocked one slash before it had to duck two more, the slashes Scorpionic made striking a couple of buildings and sending them breaking down as we stumbled in the cockpit, but we got a lucky strike in and knocked down another building.

"Whoa! Yeesh! I hope those buildings are insured!" I spoke worriedly.

"Ditto," Mike agreed with me.

"That Nighlok is going down!" Mia said confidently.

But it wasn't gonna be that easy; Scorpionic called out some Giant Moogers to fight us as well.

"Uh-oh. Looks like we have some party crashers," Mike quipped as we started fighting the giants, but there was a little trouble when we got bound up.

"What should we do?!" Mia asked worriedly.

I thought quickly and looked at Jayden. "I've got an idea!" I pushed my controls quickly. "Owl Zord, disengage!"

My Zord detached from the Megazord and flew around as I lined the Moogers up for perfect shots. "Targeting... locked on!"

Jayden looked up at me. "Go for it!"

I nodded a bit. "Fire in the hole! Feather missiles, away!" I shot off some missiles from the wings as the others got free from the chains and let the Moogers have it, the shots hitting perfectly. "Bullseye!" Returning to the Megazord, I locked my blade back into place.

"Nice shots!" Kevin congratulated me.

Emily nodded in agreement. "Yeah, eight Moogers down, and one Nighlok to go!"

Pulling our Mega Blades out, we got inro position and spun our discs, the power charging our Megazord's blade as we swung in an arc and slashed the Nighlok, all while calling out, "Katana power! Samurai Strike!"

Our slash landed dead on as Scorpionic fell backwards and exploded, and the Megazord turned away victoriously as it sheathed its sword, Jayden locking his Mega Blade on his belt as he spoke, "Samurai Rangers, victory is ours."

Back at the dojo, Jayden led us inside while Mia and Emily helped support me while Kevin and Jayden were discussing the Zord formation.

"Well done," Ji walked over to us, "all of you."

"Thanks, Ji," Jayden smiled a bit.

I noticed Emily looking a little crestfallen. "What's up, Emily?"

She looked at us nervously. "Well, I almost let you all down today."

Jayden spoke to her, "You did great, Emily. You're really strong."

I nodded to her and smiled. "Exactly. Don't let one small setback force you to doubt your own abilities." I looked at the group. "We each have our own strengths and weaknesses, but as long as we work together as a team, we can accomplish anything."

I could feel the approval from everyone as Mia walked over to Emily and spoke to her, "Your big sister would be really proud of you."

I nodded and patted Emily's shoulder before Mike spoke up, "Hey, guys. I have a surprise for you. I learned a new symbol."

"Really?" Ji seemed to be skeptical, but I was willing to see what Mike had in store.

The Green Ranger pulled out his Samuraizer and stepped towards the training area before he drew his new symbol, a symbol for fun as confetti raimed down and he did a backflip into the confetti before he started dancing, causing all of us to chuckle in amusement.

Jayden smiled as he shared a look with me, and I already knew my bond with the team was growing stronger every hour.

(claps hands) Chapter closed! Glad to be back into some of the swing of things, and this went pretty well, honestly. Now since this was aired out of order, I decided to put the chapters in order for the story to make sense and I will be including some unused Ayakashi monsters as Nighloks. I just need to decide which ones would be best. So until next time!
