Once back at the apartment, Adam took the fries he was still snacking on, from their little lunch stop on the way back, over to the couch and kicked back in it.

"Hmm…you know what would go great on these chili cheese fries?" He suggested.

"Adam, I mean this in the nicest way…..but, so help me if you're about to say peanut butter.." Amanda, who was setting some stuff down, laughed.

"Mn, gross, no!" Adam laughed between bites. "I was gonna say bacon…..Jesus, are you trying to get my vomit reflux going again?"

"You're telling me." She laughed. "I'm really not trying to judge. Hell knows you've got enough to deal with here, but you just might've had to get that one yourself, just cause I'd be the one vomiting for a change."

"Right, try doing it for almost three months straight." He laughed. "..at one point, I even asked Larry if he was sure it isn't possible to puke this baby out."

Amanda practically choked on her drink laughing at the remark.

"Yeah, he laughed at me just like that, too." Adam chuckled. "..like I'd asked if she was gonna have three heads or something. Anyway, do we still have any, by chance?"

He turned around to look over the back of the couch at her with a hopeful expression on his face.

Amanda was still giggling to herself. "I think we just might. Let me check the fridge."

"Thanks."

She went to open it and began skimming it over til she found the small cup of chopped up bacon from when Adam had had the idea to put it in the eggs he'd had earlier.

"Hmm….yes! There is! From breakfast, earlier. You meant on the fries, right?"

"Yeah!" He answered excitedly.

"Perfect…"She grinned over the reaction as she grabbed for it to bring it over to the couch

"Here you go."

"Thank yooouu." He beamed, sprinkling the little bits onto the fries. "..You know, I don't understand why they don't just come like this to begin with."

"Well, to be fair, even you didn't think about adding it until just now." She pointed out.

"Well, I was thinking about it in the car, actually. I guess I just got distracted." He chuckled.

"Fair enough." She chuckled. "...and anyway, I'm sure somebody somewhere sells 'em like that, I know I've heard of it."

"I'll make a mental note of it." He laughed, taking another bite. "...Mmm! ..see, I was right, these are amazing! Here, try one."

"Once we got past me thinking you were gonna say peanut butter, I never doubted you for a second." She pointed out, taking his offer. "Ooh, you're right. These are good."

She took one more of them. "Yeah, see, I'm sure I've done this at some point before."

"Right, what else are you hiding from me?" He chuckled, taking another bite of one.

"It wasn't exactly a secret." She laughed. "I think it was just assumed that you probably knew or could've guessed that- "

She stopped mid sentence when Adam's phone started going off, interrupting both hers and his train of thought, now.

She wasn't trying to be nosy, though she still couldn't help noticing the name, Larry, come across his cellphone when he took it out to check it.

He'd called once before, on the car ride home, which Adam had appeared to mostly ignore at the time.

This time, however, he just stared at it for a moment and set it back down.

"...Gonna get that?" Amanda asked quietly, after the short silence. Sympathy in her eyes, when she looked at him.

"Nope…" He sighed. "...Let him get used to what my voicemail sounds like for a change. I'll call him back later.

"That's the spirit…." She chuckled softly, sympathetically. "...sorry…..you okay?"

"Yep…never better." He remarked sarcastically with a small chuckle. "...Yeah, I will be. I just need a little space from it all….room to breathe."

"You want me to get out of your hair, then?" She offered gently.

A little smile crept across his face. "..I didn't say from you, did I?" His little smile grew into a slightly wider smirk.

She smiled back at him. "No, I guess you didn't."

He chuckled softly. "..Mmm…..what I do need is a distraction from it and, let's face it, my chili cheese/bacon fries concoction is only gonna last so long."

"Right. Well, good to know where I stand against chili cheese/bacon fries." She teased.

"Oh, come on, you know what I meant!" He laughed. "Trust me, you are a much better distraction than any kind of fries."

"Even chili cheese/bacon fries concoctions?" She teased, slightly mocking his referring to it as a concoction.

"Even chili cheese/bacon fries concoctions." He laughed. "In fact…

He trailed off mid sentence and let out a quiet gasp to himself, shooting a hand over his bump and moving it around, ever so slightly, across it. "Holy shit.."

"Adam?" Amanda was trying not to panic. "What is it? What's wrong?"

"No, no umm.." He chuckled nervously. "I- I think she's moving! …She's moving." The second time he said it was quieter, more to himself, as he looked down again and continued marveling over it.

"Wh- Are you serious?!" Amanda asked in a mix of relief and almost as much awe as he was clearly in.

"Yeah….oh, very serious. You wanna feel?"

"Sure." She was grinning as she watched him. "Show me where."

"Here…" He reached for her hand and she let him take it and carefully guide it to where he was feeling the movements. "Riiight….oh, right here, actually." He chuckled, moving her hand from where he thought he was guiding her hand to, when the baby apparently changed position.

"You feel that?"

"Yeah." Amanda beamed, grinning more. "Yeah, of course I do….wow, what's it feel like? …for you, I mean."

"It- it's weird…really weird, actually." He chuckled, moving his hand again, until the movements settled back down. "..but, good weird though. "Yeah…" He looked down again. "Wait, no, I'm sorry." He cooed. "...I'm sorry, have I offended you? Hmm?"

"I think maybe she was just saying, hi." Amanda assured him, giggling softly over the thought process.

"Yeah, maybe." chuckled, looking down again with the biggest smile, as he placed his hand back over the bump. "...Hi, little one."
