In a typical middle-class household, a young girl peacefully sleeps in her bedroom, slipping into a dream world. In this dream, she soars high above a city, reveling in the freedom of flight, only to be jolted when she suddenly plummets. Just as the impending crash feels inevitable, she awakens abruptly to find herself in the basement of her home. Distressed, she starts to break down emotionally, prompting her parents to rush down the stairs in response to her cries.
"What happened? Were you sleepwalking?" The girl's father asked.
"No, I fell through the ceiling!" The girl replied, her voice filled with distress, and she quickly embraced her mother. Her parents looked at each other as she continued to sob, they didn't know what to do.
Meanwhile at the mansion, Professor Xavier looked on as Cerebro picked up a mutant signature. "Discovery, Mutant signature. The second detection in this vicinity. Extrapolation complete. Identity confirmed. Name: Kitty Pryde, Residence: North Brooke, Age: 15." The monitor displayed the image of a brunette girl. Charles, having seen enough, turned off the computer and prepared himself to head over, eager to meet the girl and, hopefully, have her become one of his students.
—
"Harry, wake up, man." Scott threw a pillow at the dark-haired boy's face, jolting him instantly.
"What the hell was that?" Harry scowled and got up, retaliating by throwing an alarm clock at Scott's foot.
"Ow, come on, that's an overreaction!" Scott bent down, rubbing his foot where the alarm clock had landed.
"Well, maybe if you hadn't—"
"Boys, come on, we'll be late to school. Harry, take a shower." Jean peeked in as she passed by.
"Yeah, give me a minute. Get out of my room, Scoot." Harry pushed him away towards Jean, who promptly dragged him to the main hall.
Grumbling, Harry grabbed the alarm clock and placed it back on his nightstand. His eyes instantly snapped to the newspaper featuring him and Strange again. He had read it last night, and it seemed like the professor was right—the wizarding world was now aware of him, and they were doing their best to find him, which wasn't good.
Suddenly, he remembered the old woman they had saved from a mugging. Oh no, what if she had told them he was here? He needed to be extra vigilant these next few da-
"Harry, hurry up!" Jean's voice cut through his musings.
"Be there in a sec!" Harry yelled back, pushing this matter to the back of his head as he headed into the showers.
—
"Wait, so Jean isn't coming with us? Why?"
"As I've told Jean, Harry, I believe she is the best suited to aid me in recruiting the gifted young woman," Charles explained to Harry one last time before heading to the hangar with Jean.
"Don't get in trouble, boys," she waved at them as they turned a corner. While the two boys left behind walked outside, they entered Scott's car and drove to school.
The two arrived and went to class when Harry finally remembered something or someone. "Hey, I just realized, where is Kurt?" He spoke up, recalling the younger boy.
"Oh man, we forgot about him," Scott smacked his forehead before something outside the window caught his attention. "Wait... isn't that him?"
Harry turned to where Scott was pointing, and there he was. Kurt was being reprimanded by none other than their principal, Ms. Darkholme. Seeing her gave him shivers. He could never shake off the unsettling feeling whenever she was around.
"I'm gonna help him out." Scott stood up and gave an excuse to go to the bathroom before running out.
Harry looked back outside and saw him go out and grab Kurt by the shoulders, sheepishly pushing him inside, making him chuckle at the scene. Ms. Darkholme continued to scowl at the door where the two boys were headed. Not long after, she turned and made eye contact with him. Harry immediately looked away right as Scott entered the room and sat next to him.

Jean and Charles walked their way to the home of one Kitty Pryde. The house looked normal, very unassuming and boring in Jean's opinion, but that wasn't really important. The professor needed her help to convince the girl not to decorate her home.
They reached the front door, and Charles rang the doorbell. Not long after, a woman opened the door and smiled at them politely. "Hello, can I help you?"
"Yes, I was wondering if we could talk to Ms. Kitty Pryde?" Charles kindly asked. The woman looked surprised for a second before calling her husband. Jean became worried; what if they called the cops on them? She got a signal from Charles asking her to stay calm, to which she did her best, noticing the amused look Charles had.
"I'm sorry but, how do you know Kitty?" Mrs. Pryde asked, looking worried while Mr. Pryde had his hand on her back to calm her down, he however looked anything but.
"Please, maybe we could come in for a moment? We'll answer all of your questions and anything you need-"
"Excuse me, miss, you can talk to us out here," Mr. Pryde cut Jean off.
Jean was about to say something else when Charles beat her to it. "Very well, I think you know Kitty is going through a very unique transition. We simply want to help her through it. Why don't you tell us about last night?"
She saw the couple look at each other, both shocked at what Charles just said. Mr. Pryde scowled. "Last night is none of your business. Please, just leave us alone," he shooed them before pushing his wife inside and slamming the door in their faces.
"Huh, next time, let's just call and get hung up on, less hassle," Jean scoffed, crossing her arms.
Charles seemed to be thinking before addressing her. "You'll need to make contact with Kitty directly. At her school."
"Sure, professor." Jean sighed, maybe the other boy cerebro picked up, Lance Alvers, could be at this school too.

Harry, Scott, and Kurt finally arrived back at the mansion after a boring school day. The three saw Logan, in full gear, riding his bike full throttle to god knows where.
"Look at him go, Logan's something else, eh?" Harry commented as the man finally left his view.
"What's up with him?" Kurt asked, still looking where Logan was headed.
"I don't know, but that man is packing some serious attitude," Scott looked in awe.
"Wanna follow him?" Kurt excitedly asked the two older boys, getting different reactions.
"No, I don't think we shou—"
"Let's go," Scott cut Harry off and dragged him by the wrist as they followed Kurt back to the garage.
"Should we take the X Van?" Kurt pointed at the big, heavy-duty van.
"Uh, a lower profile. And cooler, besides." Scott jumped in his Mustang, and Harry was just about to sneak out before Kurt pounced on him and teleported them both inside the car.
"Hit it," Kurt said, and the three took off.
They catched up to Logan and followed him all the way to where Kurt saw him last, a multi story parking lot. "I've lost him!" Kurt slapped the car's door.
"Hey, hey.! Watch the door panel, their smudge resistant not dent resistant." Scott exclaimed.
"I think that's him up there" Harry calmly pointed out an orange dot at the very top of the building, Logan was looking as menacing as ever. Looks like he was searching for something.
"What's he doing up there?" Kurt squinted but almost immediately widened as a man and a bike fell down right at them, he hugged Scott and teleported them next to the car, Harry followed suit, not reacting fast enough to levitate the bike.
"Oh, man, my car!" Scott clutched his head, devastated at his wrecked vehicle. Kurt winced at the scene and turned to Harry, who was already running to Logan's aid.
"Scott, come on," Kurt nudged the older boy, pointing at Harry. The two ran behind him and came across Logan trapped between a pillar and a car being pushed by a tall, long-haired man.
"Hey, hairball!" Harry grabbed the man's attention and sent a levitating spell along with a banishing charm, blasting the man away. He turned to Logan, who kicked the car away. "Who's that?"
"Sabretooth, be careful with him; he's strong." Logan charged at Sabretooth, who was stalking Kurt, the latter on the ground after trying to jump him.
Logan knocked Sabretooth into an opened elevator. They wrestled on the ground, but Sabretooth kicked Logan out of the elevator as it closed. Frustrated, he cut through the door only to see that it was too late as the elevator was already gone.
"A taste of things to come, Wolverine." Sabretooth's voice reverberated through the walls, making Logan even angrier.
Kurt walked up to Logan with a smile and put his hands on his waist. "Ha! We showed him. We are the X-Men!"
Logan snarled, turning to them. "I don't fight your battles, so don't fight mine." He walked away.
"Ahh, he loves us," Kurt said, trying to lighten the mood.
"Oh, yeah, big time," Scott sarcastically responded, crossing his arms. "So how are we going to get back home?"
"I can fix your car, just give me a minute," Harry sighed, already heading to where they left it.
"Wait, really? You know how to do that?" Scott ran up to him, looking like Christmas came early. Harry only gave him a nod before using magic to move the bike. He pointed his hand at the car, muttering something that sounded like Latin to him. The car instantly fixed itself.
"Woah, since when can you do this?" Scott looked on in awe at the spotless vehicle. Had he not seen it for himself, he could be convinced that nothing ever happened to it.
Harry only replied with a shrug. "Eh, it's a pretty simple spell, one of the earlier ones that Dr. Strange taught me."
"That's really useful, Harry! Imagine the things you could do with it." Kurt beamed, his eyes looking far away.
"Hold on now. I'm not gonna be your personal maid just because I can fix stuff instantly. Now, come on, I'm tired and hungry, and we need to go home before it gets too late." Harry entered the convertible.
"You're right." Scott got into the driver's seat while Kurt jumped on the back this time. They drove back to the mansion.

Jean sighed as she entered Kitty Pryde's school. Uncertain where to start looking for the girl, she walked through the hallways, stealing glances into passing classrooms. A surprised shout emanated from one room, prompting her to head in that direction. Upon entering, she found a theater and spotted a brunette fitting the description the professor had given her, kneeling down on the stage.
"Kitty?" Jean called out, walking down to the stage. The girl looked up in surprise at her voice and quickly stood up. "Are you alright?" Jean adopted a calming tone, slowing down and raising both her hands to show she meant no harm, seeing the shorter girl on guard.
"That Rah-Rah Riley a friend of yours? 'Cause, you know, like, I had nothing to do with what happened out there on the sandpit." Kitty crossed her arms, leaning on the wall of the set.
"I know, and I'm not Riley's friend."
"You look like you'd be her friend." Kitty sniped, covering her face with a mask as Jean ascended the steps.
Jean sighed, stopping in front of her. "Kitty, look, there's no need for masks. I know what's going on."
Kitty brought the mask down with a scowl. "You, like, don't know anything! Neither does that creepy guy out there!" She exclaimed, catching Jean by surprise. Although it was understandable, given what the younger girl was currently going through.
Taking a slow and steady approach, Jean sat down at a table and remained calm. "Who? Lance? Forget about him. This is about you. You and your wonderful new gift." Kitty frowned at that before looking down.
"I don't have any gifts, just a curse." Kitty responded, looking defeated.
"Only if you let it be. I'd like to help you understand it. Together we-"
"Look," Kitty cuts her off. "I don't want any of this. It's like hard enough being normal, you know?" She raises her voice again.
Jean sighed. "Kitty, look, I just want you to watch me for a second. Please?"
She waited until Kitty looked up at her, raising a hand and focusing on the mask the younger girl was holding. Kitty looked confused before turning into surprise as the mask shook, and she let it go, only for it to levitate in mid-air. Jean didn't see this, focusing on the mask and putting it back to the wall where it was.
"How'd you do that?" Kitty's voice shook at what she just saw.
Jean gave her a comforting smile. "The same way you can pass through walls." She put a hand on Kitty's shoulder. "Just like you, one morning I woke up and had this power. And trust me, I hated it too." She said, remembering the times she would be scrutinized by her own family for being what they would call a "Freak."
Kitty looked hesitant to answer anything. "I... I don't believe you. This is a trick!" She suddenly pushed Jean's hand away.
"No. No, you do believe me. I know because of my other ability. I can read your thoughts." Jean looked away, feeling guilty about having to probe the younger girl's mind without her consent.
That seemed to be the wrong move as Kitty looked frantic and pushed her away. "No! Stay out of my head!" She ran away.
"Kitty, wait!" Jean was left alone. She sighed, feeling foolish about the way she approached the situation, wishing Harry and Scott could be there with her to help with all of this mess. Her musings were cut short after feeling a hand on her shoulder, forcing her to turn around. It was a boy who she guessed was Lance Alvers.
"Piece of advice, Red: I'm the only friend that girl's gonna need, and I'll be teaching her what's what, so you just back yourself off." Lance said to her in a threatening way. He pushed her to the side and followed Kitty.
Jean felt a headache coming in, so she went outside to the school's courtyard, taking a seat on a nearby bench to calm her mind first. All of the drama was starting to get to her. Her phone rang, and she picked it up.
"Hello, Jean, how are you dealing with the matter?"
"Uh, yeah Professor, the girl is not in a good mood right now. I get it, though."
"Indeed, so you have talked with her then?"
"I have, but I made a mistake and went into her mind. She got really angry and ran away." She then told him everything that happened in the theater room.
"Sounds like Lance could be trouble. If he bonds with Kitty, we may not be able to reach her."
"I agree, and he is reaching her."
"You have to stay with it, Jean. I don't want to lose her. Remember, whatever obstacles get in the way, they can be overcome. Xavier out." He hangs up the call.
Where does she go from here? That girl could be anywhere right now. She decided to track back to the theater room and went to where Kitty and Alvers were headed. It led back outside to the lockers, but no one was in sight. A movement outside the windows caught her attention, and there they were—Kitty and Alvers were talking to each other. The latter seemingly had made her do something as she put her hand on a wall and entered the building.
"Oh boy." Jean ran as quickly as she could but was too late as Alvers got in the room and locked the door. She saw that it was the teacher's office. Considering it was midterms, she could guess what they were doing in there.
—
Jean and Charles stood outside the school as the Prydes arrived in their car. The couple ran towards them, both looking distraught.
"Where is she?" Mr. Pryde urgently asked.
"She broke into the office."
Mrs. Pryde gasped at what she heard. "She's never done anything like this before."
The couple took off, leaving Jean and Charles behind. "Go with them, Jean. I'll catch up," the latter said. Jean ran, following them.
They made it to the room to see Alvers clutching Kitty's wrist. The girl looked like she was in pain. This set off Mr. Pryde. "Let go of my daughter!" he charged at Alvers, who used his powers to trigger an earthquake, making everything in the room shake. A nearby bookshelf fell down on Mr. Pryde's leg.
"No! Stop!" Kitty tried to run to her father, only to be held back by Alvers and dragged to a wall as he tried to make a hole in it. Mrs. Pryde tried to stop them while Jean was distracted trying to lift the shelf off of Mr. Pryde.
Once she did, Mrs. Pryde helped him try to stand up, as it was clear he was struggling to hold his own weight. "Kitty, I pushed you to this, I know. I wanted to pretend that nothing was wrong. I'm not perfect. I'm learning, just like you are."
Jean could see tears rolling down Kitty's cheeks. She was about to say something, but Alvers beat her to it and made the ground shake even harder. Parts of the roof started raining down on them. Jean used her powers and pushed them all away while turning to the two younger teens.
"You called your gift a curse. If you go with him, I guarantee you it will be." Jean addressed her.
"Kitty, listen to her!" Mrs. Pryde pleaded.
"Sweetheart, we love you!" Mr. Pryde shouted, looking desperate.
"They're too late; you're with me now." Alvers shouted and tightened his hold on her wrist, pulling her away.
"No, I'm not!" Kitty phased through his hand and ran off to her parents. Alvers got angrier, accidentally making the earthquake even stronger. Kitty let out a curdling scream as debris fell down on top of her.
Jean looked on in shock as she was too late to do anything. Not long after, the building crumbled on top of them. Jean stumbled as she struggled to push away all the debris; this was too much for her.
"Keep going, Jean. I'll assist you; keep your mind clear," Charles' voice rang through her head.
Jean opened her eyes, and her eyes snapped to the Prydes as they both let out their grievances. She was disappointed in herself. She had the power to save the younger girl but ultimately failed.
"Woah!"
A voice made her look back up, catching her off guard. Kitty was there, looking unharmed. The girl immediately ran to her family and gave them a hug. Jean felt a little envious at the scene; Kitty had a family that cared for her even with her gifts, unlike her. A certain green-eyed boy and a brunette crossed her mind, Harry and Scott cared for her, and that was the only thing that matters.
"Okay, like, everybody grab onto me. I'll get us out." Kitty spread her arms out; Mr. and Mrs. Pryde grabbed Jean by her arms, and they phased through the debris. Charles was already out there, looking worried. His face looked happy as he saw the Prydes and Jean walk out safely.
"Yes, Kitty! It is a gift, and you've used it well," he praised, giving the girl a proud smile.
Kitty smiled back before turning to her parents. "Mom, I'm so sorry. And Daddy, these people... they, like, wanna help me. I trust them."
"I know, sweetie, and so do I." Mr. Pryde turned to Charles. "Professor. I think we have some things to talk about."
"Yes, we do."
Unbeknownst to them, Lance Alvers looked on at the wrecked school before stumbling upon a tall, menacing lady, offering him something he couldn't refuse.
—
Harry hummed along to the music playing on his CD player. After they got home, he went straight to the showers before heading to his room, seeking some quiet time to himself. Scott and Kurt seemed to get the message, leaving him undisturbed.
The sound of "Blackbird" caught his attention; Charles and Jean had come back. Harry exited his room and went downstairs to see Kurt and Scott talking to them, along with a girl he had never seen before.
"Ah, Kitty, this is Harry Potter. Harry can control the mystic arts."
"Hello, Kitty. Do you like magic?" Harry summoned a flower, presenting it with a charming smile.
Kitty shyly smiled and took it from him. "Wow, like, that's really cool!" she beamed at him, and he gave her a wink.
"Okay there, charmer, that's enough of that," Jean smacked him on the back of the head, making the others chuckle.
"Ow, Jean, I was just trying to make a good impression," Harry protested.
Jean lifted a single eyebrow. "By flirting with her?" Harry shrugged in response.
Kitty giggled as she watched them. She had only been there for a few minutes and already knew that she had made the right decision in coming with them.
—
After the excitement of Kitty's arrival died down, they each went to their own room, with Kitty bunking with Jean for the night as her room hadn't been cleaned yet. Harry closed his door with a sigh. The girl seemed nice and definitely very extroverted, a nice change of pace considering both Jean and Scott were not the most outgoing themselves.
Lying down on the bed, he listened to the wind blowing outside his window. He had delayed it long enough. Turning to his nightstand, he opened the drawer and picked up the Potter family grimoire. Sneakily, he crept outside to the backyard as he searched the grimoire for a spell.
He found one that transfigures any object into a shape of a human that can aid him with anything he tells them. As he read the instructions, he was surprised that all he had to do was a light jab with a wand to conjure it. He put the book down on the grass and took a small frisbee, placing it a few feet away before putting his hand out, aiming it towards the frisbee. Scrunching his face in concentration, he lightly jabbed his palm open, and an off-white streak shot out of his hand into the frisbee. Nothing happened.
"Huh." He walked and bent down to grab the frisbee before it shook in place. His eyes widened as the round plastic suddenly changed into an action figure-like shape before standing up straight and looking at him.
"Hello?" It showed no response. "Uhmm, bring me that book?" He pointed at the grimoire. It gave him a salute before running at the book and brought it back to him. "Thanks," he said, but it just looked back at him.
"Okay, how do I turn you back?" He skimmed the spell instructions, and all he had to do was the same thing. "This is awfully simplistic." He did as told, and it changed back to a normal frisbee. That spell could come in handy if they ever get cornered on a mission.
Harry walked back into the house, happy with his progress. He paused; a clattering sound could be heard from the kitchen. On his guard, he crept towards it, his hand ready to shoot any spell. He could see a shadow of a man, and he took cover.
Taking a deep breath, he readied himself before jumping out, only for him to be met by Logan's sharp claws on his face. "Jesus, Logan," he jumped back.
Logan chuckled and sheathed his claws, walking back to the island for his bottle of soda. "What're you doing up this late, kid?"
"Couldn't sleep," Harry honestly answered, walking to the fridge, rummaging for a drink for himself. "What about you?"
"Eh, about the same as you, I guess." Logan took a sip of his drink, and an awkward silence filled the air.
"So.. who was that guy?" The dark-haired boy nervously asked.
"I knew you were gonna ask that." Logan sniffed, taking another sip. "I don't remember much, but he was the other guy that they experimented on."
Harry nodded, understanding that it was sensitive to Logan, and decided to push the topic away. Logan stood up, putting on his cowboy hat. "Where are you going?"
"Mississippi."
"What? That's like 17 hours away."
"I'll be taking one of the choppers." Logan grunted.
Harry frowned, looking at the clock as it showed it was turning to 1 in the morning. He made an impulsive decision and shot his family grimoire a spell, making it fly back to his room. He ran up to the man: "I'm coming with."
"No."
"Come on, why not?"
"I don't want to be responsible if anything happens to you, kid." Logan scowled at him.
"Hey, if anything happens, I can go back home in a jiffy. I can teleport." He demonstrated by apparating in front of the man.
Logan paused, showing surprise. "Since when can you do that?"
"Since last summer, so I can come, yeah?" He gave the older man a sweet smile.
Logan stared hard at him before sighing. "Fine." He pushed the boy away and entered the hangar.
"Yes! So what's up in Mississippi?"
