Music of the day

Skyrim - Whiterun

Night had fallen over Whiterun, the cloudless skies of Skyrim glowing with a magical beauty that never failed to draw one's attention. The burly men that guarded the city gates oft spent their nights watching the skies to keep themselves entertained during the many long hours of their post.

Yet tonight, the dark and lightless roads that surrounded the city were suddenly lit up. At first it appeared to be nothing more than a traveler or adventurer, a torch in their hands to light their path.

Only when said adventurer neared the city gates did the men standing guard actually take notice of the source of the light.

It was no torch, but a monster formed into the shape of a woman, floating a foot off the ground as she followed another right towards the city gates. It was, without a doubt, a Daedra.

He was just about to reach up and ring the bell, warning the citizens of an attack when he noticed the other two beside the demon woman.

"By the gods… The Dragonborn…?" The man muttered, not surprised to see the Dragonborn again, but more so the fact that the man in question seemed to continue to bring in stranger and stranger people to the city.

He thought a vampire and a werewolf was enough, but now he returned from a quest with a Flame Atronach in tow.

"Never a dull day in Whiterun, eh?" Another Nord spoke up beside the man, his arms crossed as he watched the Dragonborn casually walk back into the city with a priest girl and a fire demon from the lower plains of Oblivion. "You're the guard that tried to stop him the other day for having a vampire with him, right? I could have sworn he was going to shout you apart…" He pointed out with a chuckle.

"Oi! I almost did! I swear he would've if I didn't leave… Still gives me shivers at night." The first guard muttered, grabbing his shoulders nervously.

"Clam down lad, the man may be powerful, but he ain't no murderer. I think yer safe unless you raise a blade to any of his ladies. Even I ain't dumb enough to do that." He laughed, patting the man on the back as he walked off. "Open the gates, sir Dragonborn returns!" He called out.

A moment passed as the city gates were unlocked, the large wooden beams responsible for keeping the gates locked at night sliding out of their positions.

Goblin Slayer walked up to the city, a noticeable limp in his movements that caught the attention of the guards as he passed. It certainly wasn't enough damage to keep him down, but was noticeable just the same.

"Tell me, Master? Do you think it wise to bring me into a mortal population such as this? Do you not fear retribution on my behalf?" Ignis couldn't help but voice her concern when following the golden armored man up the city streets towards the main gate.

From the moment she was within visual range of the city guards, every armed man and woman responsible for protecting Whiterun and its inhabitants had locked their gazes on her, as if waiting for her to do something and attack. It was something she had expected from the moment she was told that they were returning to a large mortal city for the night.

However, what she didn't expect was the silence and lack of action on the part of the soldiers stationed there. They all locked gazes with her, but not a one drew their weapons. At most a few had their hands resting on the hilt of their blades, but that was all.

No shouting.

No fighting.

Nothing.

She was sure in that moment that were she to try and approach the city gates without Goblin Slayer by her side, she'd be destroyed from all sides.

"Tell me, what have you done to earn the respect of the entire city? To have their approval that they do not fear a demon like myself for merely being within your presence?" The flaming warrior woman asked curiously, fire leaking from her lips as she spoke her mind.

"Sir Goblin Slayer saved the city twice! He cut down a duo of giants that were attacking, saved Lady Aela of the Companion's guild and even took down a dragon all by himself!" Priestess jumped at the chance to explain for him, seeing the man tiredly shamble along. "He even saved me from goblins that had infested the catacombs beneath the hall of the dead." She added after a brief pause.

"Hmm… Yeah, that's it." Goblin Slayer nodded in agreement, Priestess hitting the nail on the head.

"Also! His wife is one of the strongest members of the Companion's Guild, which is a guild that assists the Jarl in defending the land, so that brings him high praise from the citizens. Lady Aela truly is a very strong woman, mmhmm!" She beamed, glad that her knowledge was coming in useful.

"Oh?" Ignis hummed in surprise, leaning over the shoulder of the tired Goblin Slayer as he walked, floating behind him. "Are you saying you have more than one wife? My my, how very greedy of you, Master." She cooed teasingly, licking her lips. "It seems that I must pull my weight if I am to be viewed as highly as they are. Oh whatever shall I do?" She sighed haughtily, shaking her head as if it couldn't be helped.

Goblin Slayer's eyes twitched behind his visor, but didn't say anything.

If he was honest with himself, he wanted to go to sleep. Which was strange, because back in his heyday he was used to taking goblin slaying quest after goblin slaying quest, for days on end sometimes before resting…

Was he getting old?

Bah!

Preposterous…

He was still young, certainly nowhere near the age that he should be feeling this exhausted at the end of one messily quest.

Perhaps having taken in so many more around him, he was running out of energy sooner and sooner?

He wasn't sure.

But what he was sure of was the fact that he knew he should report to the Jarl for completing his quest.

That was his thought as he opened the doors to Dragon's Reach, waltzing in past two flabbergasted guards who stared in a mix of awe and horror at the voluptuous fire demon who followed after the Dragonborn like a lost puppy.

Ignis was sure to blow the men a kiss, before flying after her man.

"E-Excuse us!" Priestess bowed nervously, quickly rushing in past the two stunned men.

They looked at her, before looking toward each other.

"Did…? W-Was that a-?"

"No."

"But you saw-?"

"No…"

"Am I losing my mind? A-A Daedra in Whiterun…"

"I said no. Just pretend you haven't seen anything. It's easier that way…"

"By the gods… What is going on?"

"I thought I told you not to ask that question. After all, it must've been the wind…"

"What? What was the wind?"

"The wind. Aren't you listening?"

"What do you mean he went off on a goblin slaying quest by himself!? You seriously let him go?!" Aela snapped, nearly lashing out at the man.

"N-Now now, let's all settle down. I merely gave him the quest when he asked, I did not assume he would go it alone." He backpedaled, hoping to placate the angry woman.

"Balgruuf!?" The werewolf shouted, moments away from throttling the man.

"Aela calm yourself, please." Serena grabbed the werewolf by the arm, holding her back. "You're being unreasonable." She said softly, trying to get the hormonally charged werewolf woman to see reason.

"He let him go off on a dangerous quest by himself! How am I being unreasonable?" She hissed at the vampire.

"Lord Balgruuf did not let the Dragonborn do anything, that man does what he wants when he wants." Irileth chose that moment to butt in, arms crossed over her chest as she leveled a look at the two women. "Trying to stop him is something no one is willing to attempt. He said he was going, and so he went." The dark elf explained simply, a scowl marring her face.

"See, Goblin Slayer did that." Serena pointed out. "And he did tell Farkus to tell us when we woke. I just do not think he understands how it would make you feel." She said softly, trying to placate the furious werewolf.

"Why are you so calm about this? Are you not upset as well?" Aela asked, turning to the busty woman as she leveled a glare at her.

"I'm… Not pleased that Master Goblin Slayer left on his own, but it was his decision to do so." Serena spoke after a moment of pause. "Perhaps we may discuss with him in the future, our feelings on letting him go alone." She reasoned.

Aela wanted to be angry at the vampire, but she knew that she couldn't take her anger out on her. As upset as she was, she knew that she was overreacting due to her werewolf nature. Waking up late into the day without her mate by her side, his scent barely lingering in the room, made her heart sink. It was only because of Farkus's explanation that she had managed to calm herself.

Then she learned that the man had up and gone on a dangerous quest all by himself, and she simply lost what little grip she had on her emotions.

"If you would prefer to know where he went, his quest would take him west of the city towards the mountains. He left early in the morning, so I suspect that he-" Balgruuf explained, only to trail off when the doors to Dragon's Reach opened, a familiar looking man walking in. "Ah, speaking of which. Goblin Slayer has returned."

Both Aela and Serena turned around to find the man they'd been looking for walk into the hall, covered in blood and damage. Trailing behind him was the priestess girl from the other day, and…

A Daedra warrior…

"By the gods…" The Jarl muttered under his breath, eyes twitching as he watched Goblin Slayer carelessly bring a fire demon into his own home.

"Master Goblin Slayer!" Serena exclaimed, rushing to his side. "You've returned! We were so worried about you!" She fretted, touching him all over to inspect for damage.

"Where in oblivion have you been?!" Aela hissed, stomping right up to him, poking a finger into his chest. "We woke up and you were gone, not even a note to explain where you were going! What was so important that you couldn't wait for us?!" She yelled, displaying her righteous anger that made Nords shiver in their boots.

"Goblin slaying…" Goblin Slayer answered simply, as if she had expected anything else. "I brought help." He pointed out, motioning to Priestess standing nervously behind him. "See?" He asked, turning back to the irate werewolf.

"H-Hello!" Priestess waved nervously.

Aela's eyes twitched, before she sighed, giving up.

She honestly wasn't sure what she expected of him to say, but she supposed that it was the best answer she was going to get.

"Fine…" Aela muttered, crossing her arms underneath her breasts. That's when she took notice of the fire demon floating a foot behind her mate. Her mouth fell open, eyeing the voluptuous fire shaped woman up and down. She blinked, before turning back to Goblin Slayer. "Explain. Now." She demanded, tapping her foot impatiently.

"Uh, there was a ritual, the goblins used sacrifices to summon her. So I killed the goblins, and now she says I am responsible for her." He explained, holding a hand to his chin in thought, wondering if he had left anything out.

"Indeed. My dearest Master has freed me from my goblin shackles and has sworn to look after me till the end of time, and I have offered my body to him willingly in payment. I am his to use as he sees fit, a toy for pleasure, a weapon to destroy those that seek to harm him, or a woman to lay with. Servant, mistress, wife, those titles are all the same to me." The flaming Daedra introduced, a salacious grin on her lips. "You mortals may refer to me as Ignis, Flame Atronach in passionate service to my Master." She cooed lowly, wrapping the man in a hug from behind, cupping his head between her large flaming breasts as she hovered in the air behind him.

"Yeah that. What she said." Goblin Slayer muttered, nodding as he realized that she explained it fairly well. Ignis leveled a wide grin down at the other two women, sharp white teeth glinting within her mouth.

Aela stared at the fire elemental woman for a long moment, before turning and grabbing Serena by the arm as she dragged her away. "Excuse us one moment." The werewolf muttered.

"E-Eh? Where are we going?" Serena asked as she stumbled along, dragged out of sight of Goblin Slayer.

As for the man in question, he stared at them curiously as they left, wondering if he'd said something wrong. He heard them whispering something to each other behind one of the many large pillars that held up the hall, before they eventually came back round to speak with him again.

"Okay, we've come to a decision." Serena said softly, standing shoulder to shoulder with the werewolf.

"We will accept this Daedra into our lives on one condition." Aela stated, arms crossed over her breasts. "Next time you decide to rescue some random creature that decides to dedicate themselves to you, perhaps speak with us first…"

"The wives of my Master seem to misunderstand. He did not take me in, I bound myself to him without asking. Such is the way of the Daedra, he completed the ritual for binding my soul and body to his. He did not need be made aware of those specifics for the binding ritual to function." Ignis stated, floating out from behind the golden armored man.

Both Serena and Aela watched as the fire elemental slowly hovered towards them, before stopping merely inches away. She raised her flaming arms up to gently cup both of their chins, head tilted to the side as she inspected them. "My my, to think my Master has already acquired two wonderful women before myself. It makes me quite jealous of you two, but I'm not fussy." She cooed lowly, licking her lips. "I am a more than generous Daedra, and I do enjoy sharing the things that I love." She spoke, before pressing her lips to the stunned vampire's.

Serena's eyes widened, before she melted into the fiery kiss. Her tongue felt like liquid fire given life as it explored her mouth, gently running over her large pointed fangs. When she eventually pulled away, she'd left the vampire breathless, face flushed a hot red.

Serena flushed nervously as Ignis gently cupped her chin. "Do not fear, lady of the night. As wife of my Master, I could never do you harm, even if I wished it. You have no need to fear my flames." She said softly, rubbing her claws over the vampire's cheeks.

Serena's eyes widened, although she realized a moment later that it was probably obvious that a Daedra could recognize a pure blooded vampire with ease. Her reassurance that she could never and would never burn her with her flames did wonders to win her over in her eyes.

That and, as she had told herself before, any that loved her Master and wished him nothing but the best, she would welcome with open arms. Although, she did wonder how they would go about keeping the citizens of Whiterun and Skyrim overall comfortable with her around.

She had little faith that panic would not ensue when people saw a Daedra wandering the city streets. Aela was respected as a werewolf of the guild, and she hid her identity as a vampire for the most part with her cloak.

There was little they could do to hide a seven foot tall Flame Atronach.

"Now then, I understand my Master has business to attend to. Furthermore, I am more than aware that my presence here is not welcomed by these mortals. So, for the time being, I shall rest until called upon." Ignis sighed, voice lowering as she glanced at the plethora of Nord guards that had been eyeing her dangerously since she first stepped foot into the halls.

With her mind spoken, the Flame Atronach flew up into the air, before her form began shrinking down, until she was no bigger than six inches tall. Now having reduced her form to that of a Fire Pixie, she flew in between the bars that made up Goblin Slayer's visor, and sat on the inside lining of his helmet. "I hope you don't mind the intrusion, my Master?" Ignis cooed softly, her voice small.

Goblin Slayer glanced to her, his eyes narrowed to pin points to focus on the tiny fire demon sitting inside of his helmet. "You're fine." He muttered lowly, keeping his voice down.

She clapped her hands together in glee. "Splendid!" She exclaimed, happy. Her hugged his cheek with her entire body, purring in a low catlike manner. "Flame Atronach's gain strength from heat and energy. Whether that be body heat, fire, exposure to the sun…" She trailed off, grin widening as her tone dipped lower. "Your essence... That gives me plenty of energy. I hope you won't keep me waiting forever, my Master?" She cooed teasingly.

The man raised an eyebrow at her, but didn't feel the need to comment.

With everything out of the way, he could finally focus on turning in his completed quest.

"Jarl. I've returned from the-" He started.

"I can see that, Goblin Slayer. I've also overheard the conversation. The goblins are dead at Brittleshin Pass?" Balgruuf cut him off, staring intensely down at the golden armored man.

"Yeah."

"And what of the missing caravaners? Have you managed to track them down?" He asked lowly, fearing the worst.

"Dead. The goblins used them as ritual sacrifices to summon a demon." He explained. "I buried their bodies outside the caves, gravestones set over them." He added thoughtfully.

Balgruuf sighed, eyes narrowed. He leaned on his armrest, stroking his beard. "This is… unsettling news. While I am please that the potential problems of having a rouge Daedra running about has been settled by you, I am beginning to grow increasingly concerned of the level of goblin attacks." He muttered.

Goblin Slayer's eyes narrowed as he focused on the man. "These attacks have been increasing in frequency…?" He spoke.

"Indeed." Balgruuf sighed. "In recent years, goblin slaying quests came my way perhaps once or twice a year. This level of activity is growing concerning. And with the war on the horizon, and the return of the dragons, I simply don't have the men to spare to investigate this problem."

"Goblin quests usually pertained to clearing out a nest in some of the old Nordic ruins. It was never more than five or ten, small groups easy enough to take out. But now they've grown to groups numbering far higher than before." Balgruuf grunted lowly, leveling an intense stare at the man. "Tell me… How many did you slay this time? Fifteen? Twenty?" He asked in concern.

The cold gaze Goblin Slayer returned to the aged Nord leader did not make the concern bubbling in his chest lessen any bit. "Fifty." Goblin Slayer muttered lowly. "There were fifty goblins in that cave. They were being led by a goblin shaman."

"Fifty goblins…" Irileth muttered in shock. "By the gods, how are they multiplying so quickly? Goblins used to be nothing more than a nuisance to Skyrim. But this level of growth is worrying me."

"I had no idea goblins could use magic of any kind. And you say they attempted a Daedric summoning ritual?" The long conversation had attracted the attention of Farengar, the court wizard speaking his mind.

"They did not attempt a summoning. They succeeded in doing so." Ignis spoke from his helmet, a warm glow radiating from behind Goblin Slayer's visor.

Farengar's eyes widened when he saw the Flame Atronach Pixie inside the Dragonborn's helmet, almost not believing his own eyes. "By the gods, so I wasn't hearing things…" The wizard muttered in awe. "You've truly tamed a Daedra… Dragonborn, you continue to amaze me."

"Oh…" Goblin Slayer muttered in surprise.

"That is besides the point." Balgruuf brought the attention back to him. "Goblin Slayer, for killing the goblins at Brittleshin Pass, taming a Daedra warrior, and bringing the news of the fate of the caravaners, you are to be rewarded." He stated, snapping his fingers. "Proventus?" He called.

"Yes sire." The balding man came out, holding a sack of gold coins. He handed the brown bag over to the Goblin Slayer, making sure he had it in his palms before taking his leave.

"For your efforts today, you've been rewarded with twenty gold coins and fifty silver. Don't spend it all in one place, Dragonborn…" The Jarl hummed, nodding to the golden armored man.

Goblin Slayer blinked in surprise, having expected far less for a goblin slaying quest. But after a moment of thought, he decided against questioning it.

If the Jarl wished to pay him well for his efforts, he would use the money to help further his goblin slaying efforts…

Or…

Perhaps purchase some custom made armor for his wife-

Err, his two wives…

Well three now that he thought about it, but he doubted that Ignis needed armor, he'd body made of fire and cooled lava plates.

He nodded firmly, having decided. He would spend the money on his girls instead, using the rest for food and supplies, while leaving some for an emergency if needed.
