OceanPaw glanced around, camp was empty. Every cat was quiet in their nests. PouncePaw bounded up beside her as they twisted their way through the tiny upwards tunnel so they didn't have to sneak past the guard. Oh StarClan! though OceanPaw as she flattened herself down to follow PouncePaw through the narrow crack in the rock, A grown warrior would not be able to fit through here.
Both cats breathed a sigh of relief as they pushed their way upwards and felt the humid dusk air, above the sunset was leaking away gradually into darkness. They both still had a way to walk to get to the meeting place but, now that they were far away enough from camp, they could speak.
"So, OceanPaw," started PouncePaw, leaping and trotting forwards, excitement buzzing in his eyes, "Are you exited to meet the lake clans?"
What a mouse-brained question, of coarse not! I'm only going so that PouncePaw doesn't end up dying,
The two cats walked for what seemed for ages until they reached the ring of bushes that bordered the small clearing that the apprentices had met in the night before, OceanPaw stuck her head through a gap, glancing around the clearing. We don't know whats out there, she though as her eyes searched around. PouncePaw didn't stop though, bounding straight into the clearing,
"PouncePaw-" OceanPaw paused, relief sweeping over her like a wave as she heard TalonPaw's voice on the other side. She pushed through and saw that they were the last cats to come.
"So, OceanPaw, which way are we going?" a voice asked her as she emerged, it was DewPaw,
"I... I don't really know," she admitted, "I thought we would be able to figure it out?"
"My mentor said that the clans followed the setting sun," began PoolPaw,
"That's not helpf-" snorted OakPaw before being cut off
"Yes it is!" exclaimed TalonPaw, "If they followed the setting sun here then we can follow the rising sun there!" he finished, watching as every cat nodded, excitement shining in their eyes.
"We must wait then," decided OceanPaw, glancing up at the sky. The moon was low in the sky, the sun would be up in a couple hours.
All the cats set off as soon as the sun was visable above the tree line, they decided to travel through no cats lands land : a small strip between the TansyClan and NettleClan territories, which no cat was allowed to use as it was a small two-leg-place.
The cats leaped silently onto the fence, keeping their vioces low as they went
"PoolPaw, stay in front of me!" hissed TalonPaw, hurrying his sister onto the fence
PoolPaw glanced backwards from her standing point, giving him a disgruntled look, "Just because I'm a medicine cats doesn't mean I can't take care of myself!" she spat
TalonPaw let out a low grumble but continued along the fence.
Once the group of cats reached the edge of no-cats-land, they stopped at the edge of a thunder path. It was small and quiet but all cats knew to never run across a thunderPath without looking.
Silently, PouncePaw stepped forwards, flicked his head left and then right, before bounding across and running straight through a hedge on the other side. Every cat filled after him, keeping silent.
OakPaw and OceanPaw were the only cats left. OceanPaw stepped forwards, and bolted across the flat land. Suddenly a high pitched ringing filled her ears as a creature sped towards her. She froze in shock: this creature was different, massive filled with multiple twolegs, all staring straight forwards like blind mice.
"OceanPaw!" a voice hissed in her ear as she was suddenly pushed forwards and into the hedge. Thorns pierced her skin as she was pushed into the bush.
"What were you doing?" Spat the voice, OceanPaw turned around to see OakPaw, his eyes blazing. He- he saved me!
"I-I'm sorry, I've never seen a monster like that before!" exclaimed OceanPaw
OakPaw let out a low growl and pushed his way through the rest of the thorns onto the other side. OceanPaw followed, sighing, why did PouncePaw choose that grumpy fleabag to travel with us?
