"Cas, do you want this?" The angel is hesitant, but nods.

I took canon Dean/Castiel interactions from season 8 and pushed them just a little bit further. Spoilers through season 8 episode 17. Warnings: contains kinda sorta character death (not really but kind of) and Naomi. It's a one shot Destiel fic with some hurt/comfort, a considerable amount of angst, and a little bit of humor.

.Slight AU. Begins in Season 6 episode 11 "Appointment in Samarra," and continues on from there. Death gives Sam his soul back, but with one small catch: no Great Wall of Sam to protect him. As Sam struggles to discern what's real from what isn't, and is painfully assaulted by poisonous memories of the Cage, Dean slowly unravels, unable to do much more than lend a loving hand.

"Are you sure I'm ready for this?" I asked him, staring into my friend's eyes. His ice blue orbs shined with pity, and a look of knowing. "No. But, we have no other choice," Castiel gave me a small smile, as I looked to the cage, and closed my eyes. Hello, Lucifer. Eva's home. (Destial. Original Character. Redone. Sequel to Better Dig Two. Takes place after the second trial so AU in that aspect. Ever since Dean found out about Sam being sick he's been worrying about how to save his brother.
