Hello and welcome to another experimental fanfic of Boku no Hero Academia, in which a new inspiration popped into my head in an unexpected way, as I got some ideas to try an experimental fic which came from various sources that jumpstarted my brain and try it on…
The first idea came via the manga of My Hero Academia, in which the epilogue of the Paranomral Liberation War arc showed that Izuku Midoriya left UA Academy before finishing his first year due to the fact that he is targeted by both Tomura Shigaraki and All For One…and it showed that Midoriya has slightly tweaked his appearance, in which his costume is slightly tattered while wearing a scarf that resembled the cape of Gran Torino.
Thus this made Midoriya a vigilante as he faces the villains by himself.
Another source of inspiration came when I saw the trailer of the upcoming My Hero Academia movie, World Heroes Mission, in which a subplot stated that Midoriya is wanted for mass murder on several foreign countries. This somewhat gave me an idea on what if Midoriya ended up doing those things, but involuntarily. This kind of idea made me decided to try experimenting on it.
Lastly, the final inspiration for this fic came from a certain character from a video game, which is none other than Strider Hiryu. Thanks to the fact that my smartphone can download a PS One emulator, I was able to play Marvel Vs. Capcom, where I use Hiryu as a player, and seeing his attire with a scarf, it made me recall the manga where Midoriya had a similar appearance.
Having made some research on the Strider story, I decided to try make a fic where Midoriya become a Strider-assassin and do assassination acts though it'll be ambiguous as I will flesh out the plot on how and why he ended up becoming that before getting to the point where he would seek redemption.
Well then, read on and enjoy!
Ch. 1: Ayamatta ninmu
Heights Alliance.
The scene shifts at the living room area, where Class 1-A are assembled, and exhibited a deafening silence, which also showed a worried, if not somber feature, as they felt that something is missing in their lives, which was very apparent from the very start.
Denki Kaminari and Minoru Mineta were saddened as they tried to be patient as they were awaiting any news, feeling that someone close to them is missing in this area and couldn't believe that this person is not here at this time, feeling that they lost someone important in their lives.
"Man…"
"This sucks…"
"It's been several weeks since then…"
"And there's no news…"
"This has to be a nightmare…"
"I hope this is just a dream…"
"I wish this was just a dream…I can't believe we…"
"Me too…"
Tenya Iida, Tsuyu Asui and Ochako Uraraka were also silent, as they too felt that their lives were incomplete as someone close to them is apparently gone in their lives. While Iida and Asui appeared hopeful, Uraraka was silent, to the point of being depressed, yet her two classmates tried to raise her spirits in an effort to raise her morale.
This slightly worked though she said that its been months since that day and up until now there has been no word yet on the one they were worried about and with each passing day the situation becomes more and more bleak.
"Ochako-chan…be strong."
"Asui is right, Uraraka."
"I know, but…"
"I'm sure there would be good news."
"Yes. I believe too. So don't lose hope."
"I…okay…"
"Good, Ochako-chan…"
"That's the spirit, Uraraka."
"…"
Katsuki Bakugo and Shoto Todoroki were also silent, as they too were awaiting news, as someone they cared about is missing, and they were the last one to see this person before DISAPPEARING without warning.
Bakugo expressed frustration that he failed, though Todoroki also took the blame, yet Eijiro Kirishima tried to assure his two classmates that it wasn't their fault and expressed hope that the missing person will show up sooner.
"Come on, you two…don't feel discouraged…"
"How can I not? We haven't gotten single news yet!"
"Kirishima is right, Bakugo…all we could do is wait…"
"That's right. I'm sure that…"
"Hmph. It's all my fault…"
"No, Bakugo…I too have…"
"Hey, hey…stop blaming yourselves…"
"…"
"…"
Momo Yaoyorozu and Kyoka Jiro helplessly watched their classmates rant as they too are experiencing sadness and worry over the fact that someone close to them is missing and has not showed up until now, and they are starting to worry if that person is alive or not.
"I still can't believe this…"
"Me too…"
"I really couldn't believe it would end up like this…"
"Yeah…I know that work Studies are a level up than the internship…but never would I thought that something unexpected would…"
"And now HE is missing…"
"And up until now we have no idea…"
"…"
"…"
A minute later, Shota Aizawa came and noted the sullen looks on Class 1-A's faces, and he couldn't blame them for being like that, seeing how important this person is to them, and up until now there is no word on this person's whereabouts or whether he is alive or dead.
He too is worried as the person missing has affected Class 1-A's morale, and Aizawa had to strengthen the class's resolve and not make them give up hope, and told the class not to lose hope as he believed that the one would eventually be found no matter what.
Iida asked Aizawa what would happen if the one turns up in a way they hoped it would not happen, and there Aizawa said that they will have to brace for that possibility.
"Then you and your classmates should be ready."
"Huh?"
"We have to prepare ourselves. Something that we may not like…"
"But…"
"This is the only way we have to prepare in the event that…"
"Aizawa-sensei…you can't mean…"
"It's harsh…but this is reality. We have to face it."
"…"
The person in question who is reported missing is Izuku Midoriya, and it is revealed that a few months ago, Midoriya, Bakugo and Todoroki were involved in a mission which they represented the Endeavor Hero Agency, in which they were representing Japan as they took part in an international mission where pro heroes from several countries participated in a mission to take down an organization that planned to erase Quirks from people all over the world.
During the course of the mission, Midoriya was accused of committing mass murder in several countries, and despite the testimonies of Bakugo and Todoroki, Midoriya was wanted and several government agencies from several countries ordered their respective pro heroes to take down Midoriya, dead or alive, which forced Endeavor to intervene and allowed his three interns to escape and find out the culprit behind framing Midoriya.
Eventually Midoriya found out the mastermind and confronted him, and thanks to Bakugo, he managed to do a live recording and exposed the mastermind and in the process cleared Midoriya's name. This, however, resulted in a fierce battle somewhere between Asia and Europe, which led the mastermind fleeing to an escaping airplane, which was loaded with explosives which is enough to level a wide area of a country.
As the mastermind's goons kept Todoroki and Bakugo busy, Midoriya followes and fought the mastermind inside the airplane, and managed damage the airplane's controls, thus it would force it to crash at the ocean and not as city, but the mastermind would not relent as he grabbed a nearby wrench and struck Midoriya on his left temple, BUSTING HIM OPEN and suffered a bleeding head injury.
Before the mastermind could proceed to murder Midoriya, the airplane tilted and the mastermind loses his balance and fell towards a lever in such a way that it pierced his neck, killing him on the spot.
Midoriya, however, was seemingly paralyzed due to the major head injury he got and could not move as the airplane eventually crashed onto the ocean. Soon Todoroki and Bakugo catches up and found the airplane about to fully submerge, and a concerned Bakugo told Todoroki to freeze the part of the ocean to keep the plane from sinking.
"Bakugo! The plane!"
"Damn!"
"…"
"Use your ice Quirk! Freeze the waters to keep the plane from sinking!"
"I got it!"
"Deku might drown! We don't know if…!"
"I'm on it!"
"Hurry!"
Before Todoroki could activate his ice Quirk, the plane exploded, forcing Todoroki to create an ice wall to shield himself and Bakugo from the explosion-induced impact and shockwave, as the explosives somewhat detonated.
Bakugo screamed that Midoriya is inside the plane and tells Todoroki to douse the plane with ice, which Todoroki said he will try as the shockwave from the explosion is keeping him back.
"Todoroki! The plane!"
"Damn!"
"Use your ice Quirk! Freeze the waters to keep the plane from sinking! And freeze the plane to prevent it from burning further!"
"I'm trying! But the shockwaves are keeping me back!"
"Deku is in there! We don't know if…!"
"I'm on it!"
"Hurry!"
Soon other international pro heroes arrived and assisted in searching the wreckage, finding the demolished plane and brought it (presumably by a pro hero possessing a telekinesis Quirk) to a nearby shore. There they found the charred remains of the mastermind, but Midoriya's body is nowhere to be found.
This didn't sit well with Todoroki and Bakugo, and insisted that they want to search the ocean area to find Midoriya, and a foreign pro hero with a Quirk that gives him the ability to swim underwater volunteered, and searched the area, and after 35 minutes, the pro hero told the two UA Academy students that no body is found, nor any remains of Midoriya's costume.
"Sorry, but there is none."
"What…?"
"Are you sure? There's no way that Deku's body is nowhere to be found!"
"I have done all I could, but…"
"Maybe there might be…"
"Go back there and find Deku, damn it!"
"Bakugo…calm down…"
"But…"
Both Bakugo and Todoroki were in a state of disbelief as they couldn't believe that Midoriya is nowhere to be found, and protested, though the other pro heroes calmed the two boys down as coast guards arrived and commences a search and rescue operation, which they did so for several days, but told Endeavor that Midoriya's body hasn't been found.
Endeavor is concerned as he glanced at his son and Bakugo, who were still in a state of denial that Midoriya is missing and yet his body hasn't been found, and all the Endeavor Hero Agency could do is wait for an official report.
Back at the present, Aizawa calmly urged Class 1-A to be ready for anything, stating that in the event that Midoriya is found, but not in the way they hoped, they would have to accept it no matter how harsh it would be.
Uraraka fell to her knees and started to sob, fearing of the possibility that Midoriya may be dead, and Asui tried comforting her as she urged her to be strong.
"Ochako-chan…"
"…"
"Calm down…"
"…"
"I'm sure that Midoriya-chan is alive…"
"…"
"Easy, Ochako-chan…"
"…"
Kaminari and Mineta stared at the floor and they too couldn't seem to accept this possibility, and wished that Midoriya be found alive, stating that life in UA Academy won't be the same without Midoriya.
"No way…"
"There's no way that Midoriya is…"
"This has to be some kind of joke…"
"I won't believe it…"
"Midoriya has to be alive…"
"He better be…"
"UA won't be the same without him…"
"Yeah…"
By then, Naomasa Tsukauchi and a representative from the Hero Public Safety Commission came, and there they approached Aizawa, and as Class 1-A glanced, Tsukauchi looked sad as he told Aizawa that a portion of Midoriya's hero costume was retrieved, and showed the picture that was taken, which the picture shown consist of his gloves, mask and respirators.
The picture showed that the found items were badly damaged, yet the Hero Public Safety Commission representative sadly said that Midoriya's body hasn't been found, and it is best to assume that he is GONE.
This didn't sit well with Todoroki and Bakugo, as both voiced their disapproval until Aizawa calmed them down, and said that until his body is found, they will not assume that Midoriya is dead.
"So you're saying that we should accept it just like that?"
"Are you damn sure that Deku's really dead?"
"Todoroki…Bakugo…calm down."
"But…"
"But…"
"Like I said…we'll have to accept the worse…but we will not give up. Until there is further proof that Midoriya is gone…we will keep assuming that he is still alive."
"…"
"…"
"Now calm down and stay cool."
Class 1-A remained sullen and silent, as the news they just received did little to alleviate their fear and worry, and all they could do now is painfully wait while struggling to move on without him.
To Be Continued...
Hope you liked this chapter, as I borrowed portions of the upcoming 3rd My Hero Academia movie that would serve as an opening plot device. Though the movie has yet to be shown via additional trailers, it did gave me some ideas on how to apply an opening narrative way to explain why Midoriya went missing, and how this would affect Class 1-A in such a way…
Preview:
As Class 1-A struggled to move on with their lives, the hero society are suddenly brought to an edge when an UNIDENTIFED INDIVIDUAL committed various assassination hits on some pro heroes…which would soon catch the attention of Todoroki and Bakugo…
See you in May or June…
Reviews are welcomed, but needed…
