Chapter 7

Alex smiled lightly, things were shaping up nicely she felt as she checked the list in her hands one more time before also checking the other note she had, a declaration by the council to accept her request. Relieved by that, she entered the supply shed to get what she needed. She noticed the young woman behind the counter within the supply shed and she recognized her, making her smile widen. The young woman was twenty and somewhat taller than Alex with fair skin and grey eyes, she had red hair that she tied back, looking up and smiling back at Alex upon seeing her.

"Ah, Alex, hello there."

Alex replied at once. "Hi Riley, didn't realize it was your day to be in charge here."

Riley Lethe leaned against the counter and shrugged. "Well, technically it's not, but...well, whoever it was didn't turn up, so I decided to step in."

"What?" Alex gasped. "Urgh, seriously, they should be reported, we're supposed to be working together...all of us. Who was it?"

"Um, I'd have to check again, but I think it was Courtney?" Riley replied hesitantly.

Alex sighed, she wasn't surprised after hearing that, but regardless she noted Riley's hesitance, typical Riley, not wanting to get anyone else in trouble.

She shook her head however and focused on the task at hand however.

Handing over her list and the note from the council she spoke up. "Hey so...I need these, I can help if you want."

"It's fine, I can manage." Riley replied. "Wow, that's...quite a bit, but the council said okay?"

Alex grinned. "It's...for a plan I've got, you see, I'm trying to help Sean and Lyla get together, they actually feel something for each other and I'm hoping this will help them get the little...push that they need."

"Oh wow, that's, ah, a picnic, I see." Riley replied with a laugh. "Sean and Lyla, I thought Sean liked Jenn Murphy?"

"He did, but it was just a crush, truthfully, he'd been feeling something for Lyla for a while but didn't want to act on it, he didn't know that she felt the same and now Jenn is dating Derek Anderson." Alex explained. "So, I guess, this is their chance and I want to help them."

Riley nodded. "Alright, I'll get the stuff...this is good, I can see why the council agreed, this will prevent our current surplus from spoiling."

"Wow, you're really doing all that for some friends, they're lucky to have you." A male voice suddenly said.

Alex turned in surprise and then saw a tall boy, he had dark hair and eyes, tan skin and was smiling, something about that smile made Alex feel rather warm.

"Isaac." He said at once. "Nice to meet you."

Alex nodded and introduced herself to him.

As they waited for Riley to gather the supplies she needed, Alex spent time talking to Isaac for a bit and she had to admit, he was rather attractive.

'He also seems...interested in me.' She noted to herself.

Isaac grinned. "So, you're helping two of your friends get together. I hope that doesn't mean you're not looking for someone yourself, you certainly are a beautiful young woman after all."

"Oh um." Alex gasped, not expecting that. "I...I'm not sure about a relationship, with anyone at the moment really, but, yeah, you're pretty good looking too."

She didn't want to lead him on, so she had to make sure she was honest about not sure about a relationship. Isaac's expression changed at that, gaze flickering, but he quickly recovered his good charm and once Riley delivered the supplies to them, Alex took hold of some of them, to her surprise Isaac picked up some of the supplies too.

"Hey, let me help with that, I can maybe help set things up." He remarked. "If you want maybe we could spend time together while your friends are having their date, who knows where things might go?"

Alex gave a small laugh. "Well, okay...perhaps, but I'm not so sure about a relationship, however if things do kinda work out, hopefully we might get to do something at least."

Isaac smiled. "That sounds like a plan to me."

She had to admit, she was hoping it would indeed work out, it might help her deal with the issues she had regarding her still being a virgin, she just hoped that things didn't get too awkward regarding Isaac afterwards, regardless she had to make sure he understood, exactly, that she wasn't serious about a relationship, at least not yet.

Even more elated than before, Alex made her way through the streets of Haven Springs, things had gone well. She had set up everything, the picnic was set up, she had sent letters to ensure that Sean and Lyla would find out and meet up at the same area at the right time. She just had to make sure everything was good and so watch carefully. This was her big hope, that everything would work well, Isaac had helped her greatly and she hoped that he'd be there too.

"Ugh, seriously, you're actually doing this, pathetic."

She started upon hearing Max's voice and turned towards it, her eyes narrowing when she saw who she was talking to. Max was standing, arms folded, glaring at a trio of girls, standing between them and another girl who looked exasperated. Said exasperated girl was around Max's height with long dirty blonde hair tied in a high bun and hazel eyes, pale skin and was rather slender, with a gold cross pendant being her most prominent accessory. It was Kate Marsh, one of Max's friends and an undeniably sweet girl. The three girls Max was arguing with were all taller than Max, two of them especially. Both were blonde, one had green eyes and a short pixie cut with fair skin and the other kept her paler blonde hair long and had blue eyes, both were slender and lanky, while the girl with long blonde hair was also somewhat curvy, they were, respectively, Victoria Chase and Taylor Christensen. The third girl was the one Riley had mentioned, Courtney Wagner, a pale girl with chin length black partially dyed hair blue eyes and was also slender. Alex could easily guess what was happening here, the trio bad been up to their old tricks and Max was intervening.

She hurried over to join Max and help out.

"I don't see how this is any of your business, Maxine." Victoria scoffed.

Alex then stepped in. "Maybe it's the business of everyone that you are acting like and idiot instead of benefitting the whole safe zone."

"Excuse me?" Taylor snapped. "What makes you think you-"

"Oh relax guys." Courtney said. "It's just Chen, she-"

Alex smirked. "Ah Courtney, glad I found you, so, this is what you were doing when you should have been working in supply shed. Poor Riley having to cover that, I wonder if the council know."

That gave Courtney pause and caused Victoria and Taylor to glare.

"Urgh, c'mon, let's just go, the trash isn't worth it." Victoria snapped.

With that she led the way as they stalked off.

"Urgh, those…" Max grumbled. "Thanks Alex."

Alex nodded. "It's fine, I just can't stand bullies."

With that they both turned to Kate, concerned.

Kate shook her head. "I...thank you. I can't believe those three."

"Kate, are you sure you're not…" Max began worriedly.

Kate nodded, just looking disappointed. "Honestly, the way the world is now, yet they still think things happen the way they want it too. It's so sad."

Shaking her head and Max smiled lightly but nodded to Alex and walked off with Kate, continuing to cheer her up while Alex was able to breathe a sigh of relief and was glad to see that things were building up to her plan coming to fruition while other things seemed to be either resolved, or being resolved.

End of chapter, hope you enjoyed it, read and review please.
