Chapter Two: The feast and first day
A/N: I hope you enjoy this chapter as well! I know it's probably a bit OC, but I'm working with things that aren't exactly all too well known. So, I'm trying my best! I'll keep updating to the best of my ability. Thank you for reading!
-Persephone.
We filed in and went to the feast, I glanced around as Leo, Jacob, and I sat down at the Ravenclaw table. The normal sorting happened with the first years, and I lightly applauded when a new student was sorted into Ravenclaw. The Gryffindor table was the loudest as usual. They were typically a rowdy bunch, but they were a good bunch generally.
Glancing around, I noticed there was a handsome boy with dark hair and dark eyes. He was sitting at the Slytherin table. He had a mix of people around him and he made an effort to talk to those around him. Suddenly, his eyes met mine and I quickly glanced away. It was like I had never seen him before. I didn't remember seeing anyone as handsome as him at Hogwarts. Maybe my memory was failing me, but I could have sworn I would have remembered someone like him. He stood out because of his handsome looks.
Leo and Jacob did most of the chatting as announcements were made and the feast began. I didn't have much to add to their conversation. They talked about what they did this summer and when asked, I quietly told them about my mother and her violin practice. They weren't too thrilled that my mother once again made me spend my summer trying to be the best violinist on the planet.
The feast was mostly uneventful. We headed to the dorm room and bounced around the answer to get into the dormitory and finally arrived at the answer. I went into the girls' rooms. Settling into my bed, the girls around me chatted about things I was uninterested in. It was the latest gossip and boys. People at one point did want to know why I wasn't dating either Leo or Jacob. I was tired of trying to explain that we were just friends.
I had never taken an interest in boys thanks to my mother. She drilled into my head from a young age that music came first. So, I hadn't been able to relate all too well, but it was fine. I thought that even if we all had different experiences, we weren't all too different. Our differences made us all experienced in some way and it was a good thing that could bring us all together.
I wasn't here for that not like other girls attitude. That was such an unhealthy attitude to have. I didn't understand why that attitude was even a thing. I probably never would understand why some girls had that mentality. It was tiring to try and understand them. I was a bit tired, but not too tired that I wanted to pass out right away. The chatting finally died down and it was time to get some sleep. The first day of classes was tomorrow. I wasn't nervous. I was excited to continue studying magic.
The night passed and I eventually passed out. I was awoken by a girl in my dorm who I didn't know the name of. She politely told me it was time to get up and I thanked her. She didn't have to go out of her way to do so, but yet she did. Getting up, I put on my school uniform and robes. We were getting schedules today. I knew that classes were going to get harder thanks to NEWTS. It was going to be interesting.
Leo and Jacob were waiting for me in the common area and we went to breakfast together. It was enjoyable. We were given our schedules, and I noticed that Leo and I had the same schedule but Jacob's matched what he wanted after he made it big in Quidditch: become an Auror, which was fair enough. I was happy to have Leo. Our first class was Potions and it was with the Slytherins. Jacob had this class with us, too. The three of us found a table and soon the Slytherins joined us. Scorpius saw us and his face lit up. He dragged Albus over to us.
"Hey guys! Can we join you?" he asked us.
Leo glanced at me and I gave him a nod. I appreciated his concern for me, but I was probably going to get used to having them around. For whatever reason, the two of them wanted to be a part of our group. More Scorpius than Albus, but the other tended to follow where one went.
"Yeah sure," Leo responded. Albus took a seat near Scorpius who sat near Leo. The professor soon came in and we began the lesson. The class went by pretty quickly. Leo and I were the first done with the potions we were learning today. Bottling it up at the end of the class, we filed into a singular line and put it on the professor's desk.
We walked out and the two continued to follow us. I glanced back at Scorpius who grinned at me. He seemed like a friendly guy. Maybe I should give him a chance and let him be my friend. It didn't seem all too bad.
"So what class do you have next?" Scorpius asked us.
"I have Charms," I responded.
"I have Charms as well," Leo and Jacob responded.
"Oh, we have Herbology," Scorpius said sounding disappointed.
"Well uh, see you soon," I responded with a small smile. Scorpius waved and then we went our separate ways. Charms went by fast, but we ended up having homework. After that, we had a break and then it was time for lunch.
The rest of the day passed by decently quickly. I wasn't surprised by the amount of homework that we had. Luckily there were free periods to do said homework in. So, I wasn't too swamped by the time the end of the day came.
Dinner went by quickly and bedtime came just as quickly. When I went to sleep, I began to have a weird dream. The boy from the feast was there. The one I didn't know. He and I were sitting in a room snuggled up.
"See? I knew you could do it," he purred.
"Only with your encouragement," I responded to him. He kissed my cheek softly and then began thumbing through a book.
"Hmmm, if only I could teach your mom a lesson next," he told me.
"I wish so, too. I have no idea where so is though," I responded.
"Just remember, princess, you'll always have me," he said tilting my chin up. Just as we were about to kiss I woke up abruptly. What the hell was that? One glance at a guy and I was flirting with him in my dreams? This made no sense.
Getting out of bed, I headed out to the common area and saw that Leo was on the couch. I sat next to him.
"Couldn't sleep either?" I asked him.
"No, I had a bad dream," he responded.
"What about?" I asked.
"Don't laugh okay, but you were in a cult with this guy and were planning to take over where Voldemort left off," he said.
"Was the guy handsome with dark hair and dark eyes?" I asked entirely seriously.
"Yes, how did you know?" he asked me. I told him about the boy I had seen in the Great Hall and my dream. Leo frowned and pulled me close to him.
"I have a bad feeling, Nora," he said to me resting his chin on top of my head.
"I understand that. I don't know there was just something off about that boy," I said to him.
"Promise me you'll always tell me everything," he said to me.
"I promise," I said to him. He hugged me tightly and eventually let go, but kept me close.
"Nora, I-," he began but paused.
"What is it Leo?" I asked.
"It's nothing important. I'll tell you later," he said to me. And with that, we sat in silence just sitting close to each other hoping our weird dreams were just that…Weird dreams.
