By the time Adam had eventually woken up, some odd hours later, Amanda had already left to go pick up some things from the store, as promised.
He found the note she'd left for him on the kitchen counter, saying that she hadn't wanted to wake him when she left and that she'd be back soon.
"...Probably by the time you wake up.", as it read, when he went into the kitchen to take her up again on her offer to help himself and grab something to snack on while he dished out a fresh bowl of cat food for Buddy, who'd been following closely behind him from the bedroom to here and only took a break from following him upon being served his breakfast.
Adam smiled down at him, petting the cat as he watched him scarf down the food in front of him, before going to make his own breakfast.
He was standing in front of Amanda's fridge, snacking on some peanut butter from the same jar from before and holding the the door to the freezer section on top open, deliberating on what to make himself when the thought occurred to him..
He reached down into his pocket to take out his phone to call her.

Meanwhile Amanda was just about to start wrapping up things on her end when she got the call.
"Hey, Sleepyhead." She answered with a chuckle. "Did you get my note?"
"Yeah, I did. Thanks." He chuckled, moving some stuff around in the freezer to better browse around through it as he talked. "..anyway, I just had a thought.."
"Yeah, well, I didn't wanna be just gone when you woke up." She chuckled. "..and perfect time for a thought, I haven't even paid yet." She added, starting to presume where this was going.
"Right, good.' He chuckled. "...so, you know how there's like...chocolate ice cream mixed with strawberry…?"
"Yeah, I think it's called Neapolitan and it comes with vanilla too. Why? Did you want some?"
His eyes rolled, instinctively, as if she could see him. "I knew that. My thought was, why stop at just chocolate? Why not Rocky Road and strawberry?"
"I don't know, Adam." She laughed. "Did you want me to get strawberry too then, so you can mix them?"
"...I mean, I don't not want it, but I'm trying not to impose….."
"Did I say you were imposing?" She pointed out.
"You don't have to, I know I am. Let me at least pay you back for it."
"Not happening." She insisted. "...really, it's fine."
"Whatever...I'm too hungry to argue with you."
"Alright then." She laughed. "I'll see you in a few."
"Yeah, see ya."
In about the time it took Adam to settle on making some scrambled eggs, along with some frozen waffles he'd found in the freezer, Amanda was just coming in the front door.
"It's just me, I'm not a burglar." She joked.
"Is the latter something that happens often?" Adam teased back.
"Very funny." She laughed, setting her stuff down on the kitchen counter to start unloading it. "...something smells good."
"Well, good is a bit relative, I fear." He chuckled. "...I made some eggs, but they're a little burnt. There's a little extra, if you wanna see for yourself."
"Well, I might just take you up on that, then." She brought over a couple of the ice cream cartons she bought. "..and speaking of extra…..some extra Rocky Roads on top of this one, and the strawberry, so you can go nuts with that."
Adam's face lit up at that, as he grabbed the cartons. "With strawberries in it too? I definitely will."
"I had a feeling." She smiled, watching how much joy this was clearly giving him, as she put the rest of her stuff away. "Oh, here. Think you left this, whenever you were.." She picked up the open peanut butter jar, which was sitting on a counter near the stove, and offered it back to him.
"Ooh, thanks." He took it and set it down next to where he was starting to crack open one of the ice cream cartons. "I was snacking on it earlier, while I was making the eggs."
"..okay, that makes a little more sense, at least." She teased. "..I thought you were gonna say you put it on the waffles or something."
He paused what he was doing, to pick up the last piece of waffle that was on his plate. "..hmm...peanut butter and waffles…"
"Adam, I was kidding!" She laughed. "...well, mostly, anyway."
"Welp, too late now. We're too far gone." Adam laughed, spreading a dab of it on the waffle and taking a bite of it. "Mmm.." He moaned happily. "...Mandy, you're a genius!"
'Iiii am no such thing.." She laughed. "...but, I'm glad you're enjoying it."
"Mmm, Mandy, I don't know what to tell you. You're the best."
"I'm….definitely not." She insisted. "...but, thank you, anyway."
"Well, I beg to differ." He wore a little smirk across his face that she couldn't help but adore and his eyes held that same level of admiration that caught her off guard, that day in the stairway. "..Rockstar…..and you're welcome."
Once he'd really started digging back into the ice cream, he looked back up at her only briefly, but was still just as amused by the way she'd lit up over his little nickname for her again.
"What?" He asked with that same smirk, between spoonfuls, as if he didn't know.
"What?" She repeated, jokingly. "You know, you can have the ice cream whether you flatter me or not." She returned the smirk, as she took the seat just across from him.
"Mmm, is it really flattery if it's true?"
"Adam, what'd I just say?" She laughed
"You blushed and then accused me of trying to flatter you?"
"Bullshit…" She snickered, watching him begin his little experiment of mixing the strawberry with some of the Rocky Road. "...so, what's the verdict?"
"Subtle." He snickered, taking another bite. "The verdict is- oohh." He was going to go on to say the verdict is subtle, but became just a little too lost in the distraction of his own experiment. "..oh, shit, that is good. Here, try a bite before I hog it all."
"You are not hogging anything, I bought that for you." She reminded him, taking the offer anyway. "...but, if you insist.." She took the offered, borrowed spoon and took a small bite of the two mixed together. "Ooh, that is good. Maybe, you're the genius."
"I'd like to argue with you, but this is a gold mine." He laughed. "..you might be onto something here."
She took one more spoonful before giving it back to him.
"Alright, I'll take one more, then the rest is yours."
"Deal." He laughed.
"Here." She chuckled, handing it back to him.
"Thank you….seriously."
She smiled back at him, which shifted into a little smirk.
"Well, you're welcome….seriously."
