The dough felt good and soothing between Yamada Chisato's fingers. Kneading the dough to bend it to her will was so satisfying. Chisato wiped her brow with satisfaction. She loved coming in the early morning to prepare the dough and other products made the night before for the day's customers. One would think that she was a regular employee however she was the owner no less. Unlike most owners or managers, Chisato preferred to be at the frontline helping the other workers. She had wanted to be hands on from the moment she took over.

It was to say in the least very unorthodox for someone as young as her to be the owner. However she had trained under the previous owner while going to school. This small shop was her refuge and the owner had left it in Chisato's care. Many people doubted her because of her age but she'd managed to be a fair and responsible owner.

This was the quintessential normal life Chisato had worked hard for. Everything was falling into place finally if only it weren't the creatures that apparently only she could see. They were everywhere, especially in crowded places. When she was younger she didn't know how people couldn't see them. Chisato often felt isolated and ostracized because she was seen as "weird" for having the ability to see curses. As she grew older the less she spoke of them the more society seemed to accept her. Channeling her energy into baking she was able to forge out somewhat of a normal existence from her adolescence to adulthood. In order to keep the "creatures" at bay, leftover food scraps at least did the trick for the smaller ones. There were plenty of kitchen tools at her disposal for the more troublesome ones. Luckily up to this point she was able to manage them. The problem was that they were always there, but as long as they didn't bother anybody, Chisato couldn't find fault.

"No you don't," Chisato said, spotting a small looking pest and waving it away with her rolling pin.

"We really ought to do something about these pests you supposedly keep seeing," Ito Yui, Chisato's best friend and coworker said.

"It's fine I've got it under control," Chisato said, not wanting to delve into the subject further.

"Whatever you say boss," Yui said lightheartedly. "By the way, how did that blind date that I set you up with go?"

"Terrible, all he wanted to talk about was his stock trade overseas. Yui you gotta stop setting me up on these dates you know how busy I am here," Chisato said with exasperation.

"It's been some time, Chisato. Have you thought about trying again?" Yui asked, resting her elbows on the counter.

Chisato remained silent with a sad thoughtful look as she paused with the dough.

"Oh cheer up, if you'd been with him, you wouldn't have this place," Yui said gently.

Chisato gave her a small smile.

Geto POV

"Geto-sama, can we try that pastry place over there?" Nanako asked excitedly, pointing to the shop nearby.

"Yes, Geto-sama, please?" Mimiko echoed, clutching her doll, eyes wide.

Unable to deny his girls anything, he responded, "Of course, anywhere you girls would like to go."

The two girls rushed over excitedly to the window display. Their eyes grew as big as saucers upon surveying the various cakes, and delicacies on display.

Chisato looked out the window to her right and saw a scene that brought a smile to her face. A tall man with black hair half up half down in a bun held the hands of two little girls. One of the girls, with sandy brown hair tugged on the man's hand pointing toward her shop. Then she saw both little girls run and press their hands on the glass display, their eyes shining. The tall black haired man followed after then with a bemused smile on his face.

"He's so handsome," Yui said playfully, startling her.

"Oh Yui!" Chisato said, hushing her friend, as the bell dinged, as the father and daughters entered.

"Welcome! How may I help you today?" Chisato said bowing, greeting the trio.

"My girls wanted to take a look inside your shop. They have a sweet tooth," he said, looking at his girls fondly. Even as much as he hated being around "monkeys" seeing his daughters happy made it worth it.

"Well take your time. We have a wide assortment of sweets here," Name said smiling at Geto.

She has a nice smile, even for a monkey.

"You have two lovely little girls sir." Chisato absolutely loved children. Seeing their little faces filled with joy was an element of her job that she loved.

"Thank you," Suguru said with a smile. He couldn't quite place his finger on it but there was something off about Chisato. It seemed like she wasn't ordinary somehow but he couldn't tell.

"Geto-sama, I know what I want. I want the French chocolate crepe with lots and lots of whipped cream," Nanako exclaimed excitedly.

"Chocolate hazelnut with the strawberries and bananas, please," Mimiko said a bit more quietly than her sister.

"A plain Nutella one with fruit will suit me," Geto said, reaching for his money. "To go please."

Chisato scribbled down the orders and rang them up.

"Kids get a discount. Alright, they'll be ready in a minute," she said then headed to the back room to make them.

"Oh Chi, did you see the way he smiled at you?" Yui said. "He's so good looking."

"Oh hush, and grab me the toppings," Chisato said with a slight blush to her cheeks, hoping her coworker didn't see.

Once the crepes were done, Chisato handed them to Geto. He then handed them to the girls.

"Thank you!" They both chorused in unison. Geto echoed them.

"Have a nice day!" Chisato called out as they exited. However she noticed the dark haired little girl left her doll behind.

Geto's POV

"Yummy, these crepes are so good! So much better than the other place," Nanako exclaimed.

"Geto-sama, I can't find my doll!" Mimiko cried upset, tears threatened to spill over.

"It might be back at the shop, we'll have to go back for it," Geto said. Mimiko sniffed back a few tears, lip quivering.

"Excuse me! I think you left this on the counter," a voice called.

"My doll!" Mimiko cried happily. "Thank you!"

"Yes, thank you," Geto said sincerely.

"You're welcome. Anyways, uh, have a good day," Chisato said before hurrying off with a tinge of red in her cheeks.

"You too," Geto said before turning back to his daughters. Again, he sensed something was off about her but brushed it aside.

Why am I blushing? Chisato thought. I've barely known him for five minutes. He's just a man with two daughters. What did they call him Ge- something, she thought, shaking her head as she headed back to her shop.

"That man with the little girls, oh he's so dreamy," Yui said. "Don't you think so Chisato?"

"I dunno he's so, so, he's got kids," Chisato said.

"My what a snob you are. Objecting to the poor man because he has kids. You love kids," Yui said teasingly. "I also didn't see him wearing any ring."

Chisato gave her a withering look.

"He probably won't come back again," Chisato said nonchalantly.
