AN: Well, I now realized that this is the first TGAMM fanfic I wrote right after the series ended. Even though the series is now over, I still hope to create more Mollibby stories and continue to write more TGAMM stories. Before I start this fanfic, I would like to thank The Drabbler for giving me the idea for this story! This story takes place in an alternate continuity of Season 2 where Scratch and Leah already know each other. I hope you enjoy this new story!
The Grand Gesture Mollibby Version
A few weeks had passed since Molly traveled to the Ghost World to save Scratch from the Chairman. Since then, Molly, Libby, and Scratch got to spend time together again without having to worry about the Ghost Council. As much as he hated to admit it, Scratch had grown to appreciate the time he spent with his two friends.
Throughout the last couple of weeks, Libby had even convinced her friends to tell her mom about Scratch's existence. Her mom's reaction to Scratch turned out to be as well as they could have hoped for since she ended up fainting, just like Libby did when she first met Scratch. It took awhile for Libby's mom to get used to the fact that Molly and Libby were friends with a ghost this whole time, but she and Scratch eventually learned to become friends as well.
A few days had went by before Molly, Libby, and Scratch decided to hang out together by watching a romance movie involving a lawyer getting together with a country doctor, who was genetically crossed with a pumpkin. By the time the movie ended, Molly and her friends were in tears, crying from how beautiful the movie was.
"Ah, that was the best Country Pumpkin movie yet!" Scratch exclaimed.
"The trailer said this would give us 'pumpkin' to talk about, and they did not oversell!" Molly wiped the tears from her eyes.
"I know, right? That was the exact embodiment of what love should be!" Libby replied.
"Exactly!" Molly let out a dreamy sigh before she whispered. "If only I could tell you how I feel."
At that moment, Libby looked at Molly surprised. "Huh? Tell who how you feel?"
That was when Molly covered her mouth, realizing what she just said. She was so engrossed in the movie that she let it slip that she had a crush.
"Molly, I had no idea that you have a crush! You have to say who your crush is!" Libby encouraged.
Truthfully, Molly didn't want to say because the person who she has a crush on was Libby herself. She couldn't tell Libby that she had a crush on her and risk ruining their friendship, so she tried to think of a lie.
"Um, it is a very cute boy who I have a crush on. You don't really know him!"
At the mention of a boy, Libby's expression turned glum. She never told anyone, but she had a crush on Molly as well. She wanted nothing more than to tell Molly how she felt, but knew that she wouldn't stand a chance. It was at that moment when Libby decided to put her feelings aside and help Molly get together with the boy she has a crush on.
"Don't worry, Molly! I promise I'll help you you get together with the boy you are in love with because you deserve to be happy!" Libby said.
"Oh." Molly looked down sadly. If Libby was this willing to bring her together with a boy, maybe she didn't have a crush on Molly after all. "Thanks, Libby. You're a great friend."
Silence filled the room as Scratch darted his eyes from Molly to Libby, knowing exactly what the other was thinking. With a sigh, Scratch tried to think of a way to be alone with Molly.
"Hey, Libby. I would really appreciate it if you leave right now."
"What? Why?" Libby raised a confused eyebrow by Scratch's strange request.
"Because I want to talk to Molly about her little crush, and you being here isn't going to help!" Scratch explained.
Offended, Libby opened her mouth to argue only for Scratch to lift her in the air with his ghost powers and drop her through the trap door. This caused Libby to scream as she fell to the floor with a crash.
"Scratch! Why did you do that?!" Molly yelled as she couldn't believe that Scratch just did that to Libby.
"I did it so we can talk about your so called crush in private!" Scratch explained. "Molly McGee is in love with a boy? No offense, but I find that hard to believe!"
"Why is that so hard to believe?" Molly argued.
"Because it is obvious that you have a crush on Libby."
Molly blushed in response. "Wh-What? No I don't! Libby and I are just good friends!"
"Just good friends? Then tell me, who is this boy that you have a crush on?" Scratch asked with a skeptical look.
"Uh." Molly took a moment to think of a convincing name. "The boy who I, Molly have a crush on is uh, Ollie." Molly replied with a nervous grin.
"Ollie." Scratch repeated, not convinced in the least. "And isn't it a weird coincidence that this Ollie just happens to have a name that sounds so similar to yours?"
Molly stayed silent, knowing that Scratch just saw passed her lie.
"Alright, you got me! His name isn't really Ollie. His name is, Wally?" Molly lied once more.
"Okay, now you're not even trying!" Scratch sighed.
"Fine! I might not have a crush on a boy, but I don't have a crush on Libby either." Molly denied. "You're clearly overthinking this."
"Am I? Have you forgotten when you went through all that trouble just to give Libby the best Bat Mitzvah ever? Not to mention that you wanted to run away with Libby on the day of the talent show, just the two of you. I don't think I need to mention that the song you sang about not wanting to lose Libby as a friend sounded more romantic than anything else."
Molly opened her mouth to come up with an excuse, but couldn't think of anything. It was at that point when Molly realized that she couldn't deny the truth any longer.
"Oh, corn! Scratch, you're right! I'm in love with my best friend!"
Meanwhile, Libby walked home from Molly's house, still annoyed with Scratch for dropping her from the attic. As annoyed as she was, Libby was more upset by the fact that Molly has a crush on some random boy. She didn't know who this boy was, but knew that she didn't stand a chance of being with Molly anyway, so she decided to be happy for her best friend.
It wasn't long before Libby returned home, where she found her mom stacking up books. Leah soon turned around and greeted her daughter with a smile.
"Hello, Turtledove! Did you have a fun time at Molly's house?" Leah asked.
"Um, sure, Mom! I was just watching a romance movie with Molly and Scratch. Nothing much happened after that." Libby replied.
Leah took one look at her daughter's glum expression and could tell that there was something that she wasn't telling her.
"Are you sure that is all that happened? You seem to be upset about something If there is something that you want to say, you know that you can tell me anything." Leah assured her daughter.
At first, Libby was going to lie and say that everything was okay, but didn't think she would be able to keep her feelings secret for too much longer. With a sigh, Libby decided to just tell the truth instead.
"Actually, Mom. There is something that has been on my mind for awhile, but you have to promise to keep it a secret!"
Leah nodded. "Of course, Libby! I promise not to tell anyone."
Knowing that she could trust her mom, Libby took a deep breath before shutting her eyes tightly and yelling, "I think I might have a crush on Molly!"
Libby opened her eyes once more, expecting her mom to be shocked by this revelation. Instead, Leah looked excited, as if she knew about her daughter's secret crush this whole time.
"Well, it was about time you admitted it!" Leah said, much to Libby shock.
"Wh-What? You knew all along?"
"Of course I knew. After all of your interactions with Molly, it was pretty obvious, but I didn't want to pry into your personal life." Leah explained. "It's wonderful that you are being open about your feelings! Are you going to tell Molly how you feel about her?"
Libby shook her head, too scared to even think about confessing her love for her best friend. "I can't! Molly told me that she already has a crush on a boy! Besides, there is no way that she would ever fall for someone like me!"
It was at that moment when Leah placed her hands on Libby's shoulders, her expression now serious.
"Libby, don't you ever talk about yourself like that! You are an amazing person and I couldn't have asked for a better daughter than you! If you want to get Molly to fall for you, we just need to get her to see how amazing you are!"
"Wait, we?" Libby repeated.
"That's right! I'm going to help you get together with Molly because you deserve the best!" Leah smiled.
Soon, Libby teared up in joy before hugging her mom. "Thanks, Mom! Your the best!"
"Anything for you, Turtledove! Now, here's what we are going to do!" Leah then started to explain her plan to Libby.
The next day at school, the last bell of the day rang as the students started to leave to enjoy their weekend. As the students left, Molly stayed behind in the gym to think of a way to confess her love for Libby. She paced around the gym with a piece of paper in her hands, trying to think of a good poem she could write for Libby.
"You know, I don't think you need to go that far to confess your feelings for Libby. Poetry is more Libby's thing, anyway." Scratch explained.
"Exactly! It would impress Libby so much that I would be able to write good poetry too! Now, what would be a good rhyme for orange?"
Before Scratch could reply, the doors to the gym suddenly opened before Libby stepped inside.
"Molly, there you are! I've been looking everywhere for you!"
In a panic, Molly quickly tore up the piece of paper before hiding the remaining pieces behind her back. She greeted Libby with a nervous grin, pretending that nothing was going on.
"L-Libby, it's so nice to see you!" Molly stuttered.
"It's nice to see you too! Listen, my mom and I are about to go on a camping trip together this weekend, and it would really mean a lot to us if you can come with us. I mean, if you are busy, I understand if you don't want to go." Libby said.
"Actually, we are kind of busy. Molly and I are in the middle of something important and-"
Before Scratch could say another word, he got interrupted when Molly placed a hand over his mouth. "Sorry, can you please excuse us for one minute?" Molly then turned to Scratch and spoke to him in a low whisper so Libby won't hear. "Scratch, don't you see? This is perfect! If we go on this trip with Libby and her mom, I can find the perfect moment to tell Libby how I feel. Can you come along too? I could really use your help."
"Oh, I don't know. I have other plans this weekend. And those plans involve literally anything other than camping!" Scratch replied, wanting to look for any excuse not to go camping.
"Scratch, please! This is important!" Molly begged. "If I don't confess my love for Libby this weekend, I might not get another chance!"
The ghost's expression softened when he saw tears welling up in Molly's eyes. With a defeated sigh, Scratch decided to come along with Molly so she would stop trying to guilt trip him.
"Okay, enough with the waterworks. I'll help you get together with Libby." Scratch gave in.
In an instant, Molly's sad expression turned happy. "Thank you." Molly hugged Scratch before bringing her attention back to Libby. "Libby, I would love to go camping with you and your mom!"
"Really? That's great!" Libby smiled. "I'll let my mom know and we can pick you up tomorrow. I look forward to spending the weekend with you Molly!"
"Yeah. Me too!" Molly waved goodbye as she watched Libby leave.
With the camping trip now set up, Molly spent the rest of the day getting ready for tomorrow. Before long, Molly gathered all the camping supplies she needed before drifting off to sleep. As she was sleeping, Molly began to dream about her finally confessing her love to Libby and the two of them finally becoming girlfriends. However, her dream didn't last too long before her alarm clock woke her up. Even though she was disappointed that none of this really happened, Molly was still determined to make her dream become a reality.
It wasn't long before Libby and Leah showed up to pick up Molly. After saying goodbye to the rest of the McGees, Molly and Scratch climbed in the car with Libby and her mom as Leah drove to the campsite. While Molly and Libby sat next to each other in the backseat, Scratch sat in the front with Leah. To keep himself entertained during the car ride, Scratch turned to knob on the radio, causing spooky music to play. Leah soon sent an annoyed look towards the ghost. She really wanted Molly and Libby to have the perfect moment together, and playing spooky music wasn't going to help.
"Scratch, we are going on a camping trip. I don't think playing scary music would put us in the right mood." Leah explained. "Here, let me find a better song."
At that moment, Leah switched the song to a love song. Hearing this caused Libby to blush as she knew that the song was for her and Molly. Unlike Libby though, Scratch had no idea what Leah was planning.
"Oh, sure! Playing a scary song makes no sense for camping, but a sappy love song does? Right, I'm changing it back!" Scratch switched the songs once more.
Soon, Molly and Libby exchanged a couple of awkward glances with one another as Scratch and Leah were fighting over the radio. Thankfully, the ride didn't last too much longer since they were nearly at their camping spot. Molly started to notice trees everywhere and felt that this place looked familiar.
"Wait a minute! I remember this place!" Molly realized.
"Surprise! We are camping at the place where you and Libby became wilder scouts!" Leah exclaimed. "I thought this might be the perfect place for us to camp at because this is also the place where you two became best friends!"
"That's right! Oh, Libby! This is going to be the best camping trip ever!" Molly exclaimed before embracing Libby in a tight hug, causing her to blush.
After Leah parked the car, everyone began to unload all of the camping supplies. Molly just finished unpacking her belongings when Scratch appeared right next to her to ask her about her plan to ask Libby out.
"Got any ideas for how your going to ask Libby to be your girlfriend?"
"I have a few ideas, Scratch! I'm thinking about getting a bunch of alphabet shaped balloons and rearrange them in a sentence that reads, 'Libby, will you be my girlfriend?', complete with confetti, streamers, and fireworks!" Molly explained.
"I don't know. Maybe you should try something a little more simple, like saving her." Scratch replied.
Molly raised a confused eyebrow. "Save her? From what?"
Soon, Molly got her answer when Scratch levitated a huge branch in front of Libby, who was distracted from carrying all of her camping supplies. Before Molly could warn Libby about the branch, Libby ended up tripping, causing Molly to immediately reach out and catch Libby in her arms. Once she realized what happened, Libby looked up at Molly in surprise as the two girls gazed at one another in silence.
It wasn't long before Libby broke the silence as she said, "Um, thank you for saving me Molly!"
"N-No problem Libby. I'm just glad that you aren't hurt." Molly replied before glaring at Scratch for the stunt he pulled.
Once Molly put Libby down, Libby shyly walked away, doing her best to hide her blush. Seeing Libby like this caused Scratch to give a smirk as he knew exactly what Libby was thinking.
"You're welcome!" Scratch said to Molly, much to her annoyance.
As Libby was unpacking the last of her camping supplies, she took notice of one last item in her backpack. It was a tiny pendent in the shape of a heart. Libby picked it up and gazed at the pendant in silence.
"What's that your holding, Turtledove?" Leah asked, noticing the pendant.
"Oh, this is just a pendant that I hope to give to Molly once I ask her to be my girlfriend. I just want this to be special. Do you think Molly would like it?" Libby asked.
"I'm sure that Molly is going to love it! I know that Molly would be thrilled to be your girlfriend." Leah assured, to which Libby gave a grateful smile.
Before long, everyone got all of the camping supplies ready, so they all decided to take a lunch break at the picnic table. Molly and Libby sat down next to each other as they ate a couple of sandwiches. While everyone was eating, Leah reached into her bag and pulled out a heart shaped box.
"Psst, Libby! Give this to Molly." Leah whispered.
Libby took the box and opened it to see that it was filled with chocolate. "Mom, your a genius!"
Right when Libby was about to give the box to Molly, Scratch took notice of the chocolates and took it in his ghost hands.
"Oh, good! You brought me a snack to eat!"
Letting his hunger get the better of him, Scratch devoured every single piece of chocolate before tossing the box to the ground. The sight of the empty box enraged Leah. This could have been Libby's one chance to show Molly how she felt about her, and Scratch just ruined it! Leah soon gripped Scratch's arm tightly, trying her best to stay calm.
"Scratch, may I have a word with you in private?" Leah asked with a forced smile, unable to hide the anger in her tone.
The ghost gulped as Leah dragged him behind a couple of nearby trees so Molly and Libby won't hear her.
"Look, I know that you love to eat, but I would really appreciate it if you control yourself! Libby was supposed to give that box of chocolates to Molly because Libby is in love with her." Leah whispered.
"Wait, that box of chocolates was for Molly? Ooh. This is awkward." Scratch realized his mistake. "I can see why you would be mad at me, but I want Molly and Libby to get together too. That's the only reason why I even came along on this camping trip."
Hearing this surprised Leah. "Are you saying that Molly asked you to come here so you can get her together with Libby?"
"Exactly! I have been spending this whole time trying to think of a way to get Molly to confess her feelings for Libby! I even got Libby to trip over a tree branch so Molly could save her!" Scratch paused when he realized that he might have said too much. "I probably shouldn't have told you that last part."
As much as Leah wanted to scold Scratch for what he did to her daughter, she was going to let it slide this one time. She was more focused on the fact that Molly feels the same about Libby. There could be a chance that she can bring Molly and Libby together if she worked with Scratch.
"Okay, Scratch! It's obvious that we both want our loved ones to become a couple. If we want them to get together, perhaps we need to work together." Leah suggested.
"Hmm. Well, I was doing pretty well with getting Libby to fall for Molly, but I suppose I can let you help out too." Scratch replied.
Once Scratch and Leah decided to work together, Scratch let Leah know about Molly's plan to send Libby a message using alphabet shaped balloons. Liking the sound of that idea, Leah decided to go along with that plan. It was at that moment when Scratch let Molly know what he had planned and asked her to take a walk with Libby through the woods until he was ready.
While Molly and Libby had a relaxing walk through the woods together, Scratch and Leah gathered as many balloons as possible before rearranging them in a sentence that read, "Libby, will you be my girlfriend?". Once they were finished, Scratch and Leah looked at the balloons with a couple of smiles, happy that they were able to set up everything Molly wanted for her gesture, minus the streamers, confetti, and fireworks, at least.
"This is way better than poetry or a song!" Scratch commented, admiring his and Leah's work.
"Yep! What we have here is truly a grand gesture! Quick, let's hide before Libby shows up with Molly!" Leah hid behind a tree before Scratch began to hide as well.
Once he was hidden, Scratch looked up at the balloons once more before letting out a relieved sigh, "This can't go wrong!"
Unfortunately, Scratch was proven wrong the moment he heard the sound of pecking. He looked up to see that it was the sound of a bird who was pecking a tree right near the balloons.
"Unless you keep up with that knock-knock!" Scratch flew towards the bird so it won't pop the balloons. "Shoo! scram! Get out of here, bird! Can't you see we are trying to create a romantic moment here?"
In Scratch's efforts to shoo away the bird, he ended up provoking it instead as it began to peck him instead. This caused the bird to chase after Scratch as it ended up popping the balloons.
Meanwhile, Molly and Libby walked through the woods, admiring the scenery together. As she was walking with Molly, Libby placed a hand in her pocket to feel the pendant she wanted to give to Molly. Deep down, Libby wanted nothing more than tell Molly how she felt, but she couldn't stop thinking about this mysterious boy that Molly claims to have a crush on. If Molly really did have a crush on someone else, Libby just knew that she was doing this for nothing.
"Libby!"
Libby was startled out of her thoughts, now realizing that Molly was trying to tell her something.
"Oh, I'm sorry, Molly." Libby apologized. "I guess I got a little distracted. What did you say?"
"I said that I'm getting the feeling that we are going to see something incredible!" Molly explained, knowing that she was getting close to where Scratch asked her to meet him at.
Excited to see what Scratch has done to help her, Molly ran a few steps ahead of Libby, but ended up getting horrified by what she saw. Scratch's encounter with the bird caused a few letters of the balloons to disappear, making the message read, "Libby, you fiend" instead. That was when Molly started to panic as she quickly directed Libby's attention away from the balloons before Libby could see the message.
"Oh look, there is the incredible thing over there!" Molly pointed in a random direction. "The trees look amazing this time of day! Isn't nature beautiful?"
"Um, sure, I guess." Libby raised a confused eyebrow as Molly guided Libby away from the balloons.
As Molly and Libby left, Leah stepped out of her hiding spot and noticed what Scratch had done to the balloons.
"Okay, why am I certain that's your fault?" Leah eyed Scratch in suspicion.
"Birds are jerks!" Scratch complained, still not over his encounter with the bird.
Later that night, everyone sat around the campfire roasting marshmallows. As the night went by, Scratch and Leah were slowly running out of ideas to bring Molly and Libby together. They still had one more idea left, so they let Molly and Libby know that they would be gone for a few minutes and that they would be back soon.
Once Scratch and Leah walked away, Molly and Libby were left alone, silently wondering what was going on. It was at that moment when the two friends realized that they were alone, so they could take this opportunity to confess their love for each other.
Molly nervously darted her eyes away from Libby before she said, "So, it is a beautiful night tonight, isn't it?"
"Yes, it is!" Libby agreed, admiring the stars in the sky. "Hey, Molly? Thank you for coming along on this camping trip with me! It means a lot!"
"I was happy to come along. If I'm being honest, I mainly joined because I wanted to spend time with you because I-" Molly struggled to confess her feelings, but was still too scared. Before Molly could say another word, she took notice of a light coming from the forest.
Curious, Libby turned around and gazed at the light in surprise. The girls took a closer look to see that the light was coming from jars filled with fireflies. They both knew that Scratch and Leah had something to do with this, so they followed the fireflies until they were led to a nearby river.
"Wow! This is so beautiful!" Libby exclaimed. "Want to sit by the river with me, Molly?"
"Of course!" Molly agreed. "There is nothing that I want more that spending time with you, Libby!"
With a blush, Libby sat down on the ground with Molly joining her shortly afterwards. Little did Molly and Libby know that Scratch and Leah were watching them from behind the trees.
"Alright, so we got them together. Now what?" Scratch asked.
"Now, we do this!" Leah opened up all of the jars, releasing all of the fireflies.
The fireflies began to fly around Molly and Libby, to which the girls gazed at them in amazement. Before long, the fireflies flew over the river as Molly and Libby took the time to admire the beautiful sight together.
"This is incredible! I'm so happy that we got to spend this wonderful moment together!" Libby smiled.
"Me too! If there is anyone I could have spent this moment with, I'm glad that it is with you, Libby!" Molly replied.
A few minutes had went by before Libby tried once again to confess her feelings. She reached into her pocket and took out the pendant. Once she noticed the pendant, Leah started to feel excited for her daughter as she knew exactly what Libby was planning.
"That's it, Libby! I know that you can do it!" Leah whispered.
"Um, Molly?" Libby got Molly's attention.
At that moment, Molly turned to Libby before taking notice of the pendant. "Huh? What's this?"
Gathering her courage, Libby tried to tell Molly how she really felt, "Um, I think that we have had a lot of moments together since we became best friends, both good and bad, but I wouldn't trade those moments for anything. You see, Molly, I l-love-"
As much as she tried to confess her love, Libby found it harder to do so. She knew that her mom went through all this trouble for her and couldn't let all that effort go to waste, but she couldn't help but think back to when Molly told her about her crush on some boy. What if Molly doesn't think of her in a romantic way after all?
As her mind began to fill with her worries and doubts, the pendant started to shake in her trembling hand. Libby was so scared that she accidentally dropped the pendant into the river.
"Oh no!" Libby scream before she desperately tried to get the pendant back. It didn't do any good since the pendant was washed away into the current of the river. "Th-That w-was my o-only chance. That was my only chance and I ruined everything!" Libby collapsed to the ground, unable to hold back her tears any longer.
Shocked to see Libby crying, Molly rushed to her side, "Libby, what's wrong? What happened?"
At that moment, Libby looked up towards Molly, tears running down her face. "That pendant was meant for you! I wanted to tell you how I felt about you so badly, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized how much of a mistake it really was. It's obvious that you have a crush on this boy instead and I can't take that away from you! It was stupid of me to think we could ever be together! I'm sorry!" With that, Libby ran through the woods in tears.
"Libby, wait!" Molly rushed after her.
Once Molly ran after Libby, Leah tried calling out for them, but they were already too far away to hear her.
"Well, that could have gone better." Scratch commented, disappointed that he and Leah weren't able to get their loved ones together.
"Come on! We need to find them!" Leah led Scratch deeper in the woods.
Meanwhile, Molly searched the woods for Libby as she was lost in thought. She couldn't believe that Libby had a crush on her this whole time and she never realized it. If Molly just told Libby how she felt about her sooner, things probably would have turned out different, but she was not going to waste this chance.
As Molly traveled further in the woods, the sound of soft crying could be heard nearby. Here, Molly found Libby with her arms wrapped around her legs and her back up against a tree. Feeling bad for her best friend, Molly sat down right next to Libby.
"I'm sorry I ran away like that." Libby apologized as she started to calm down.
"I'm the one who should be sorry. I shouldn't have told you that I had a crush on a boy." Molly realized her mistake.
"It's okay, Molly. You deserve someone better than me, anyway." Libby sighed.
"No, I mean I should have been honest with you from the beginning. I don't have a crush on a boy." Molly explained.
Surprised by this, Libby looked up to Molly, confused. "I don't understand."
"I lied about it because I was scared to tell you the truth. You are the one who I have a crush on, Libby!" Molly confessed, much to Libby's surprise.
"Y-you really mean it?" Libby asked in shock.
"Of course I do!" Molly replied. "You are an amazing person! You have always been there for me when I needed you and I'm happy that you ended up being my first friend in Brighton! Well, first human friend, at least!"
A smile appeared on Libby's face before she let out a giggle. "You know, things have been pretty tough for me before I met you, Molly! You have always been the sunshine of my life! It was thanks to you that I gained confidence in myself and I think it's time all the confidence finally pays off! Molly, will you be my girlfriend?"
Instead of getting an answer, Molly immediately embraced Libby in a tight hug.
"Oh my gosh! Yes! Yes! Yes!" Molly exclaimed.
After Molly let go of Libby, they both held each others hands, happy to finally be girlfriends after all this time. They soon started hearing clapping as Scratch and Leah stepped out from behind the trees, having seen everything.
"We just saw the whole thing and we are so proud of you!" Leah said before hugging her daughter.
"Yeah! Great job, Moll! I knew you could do it!" Scratch smiled.
"Aww! Thanks, Scratch! I couldn't have done it without you, buddy!" Molly replied as she squeezed Scratch tightly in a hug, much to his annoyance.
"And I couldn't have done it without you either, Mom! Thank you for everything!" Libby thanked.
Leah let go of her daughter before she said, "I know that you and Molly will be so happy together, Turtledove!"
In response, Libby turned to Molly with a smile. "Yes, I couldn't have asked for a better girlfriend than her!"
At that moment, Molly and Libby help each others hands as they snuggled close to one another. Seeing Molly and Libby together at last caused Leah to tear up in joy.
"Oh, Scratch! I'm so happy for Libby!" Leah tried her best not to cry.
"Well, I don't really care about romance, but I'm happy for Molly too!" Scratch admitted. "Looks like Mollibby lives!"
With Molly and Libby now together, the now girlfriends walked back to the campsite, holding each others hand the whole way. Once they returned to the tent, everyone decided to go to sleep. Before going to bed, Molly and Libby spent a few more minutes admiring the night sky together.
It wasn't long before they noticed a tiny object washing up on the ground from the river. Curious, Molly and Libby approached the object and were both surprised to see that it was the pendant. Libby carefully picked up the pendant in her hands. It was dripping wet and covered in dirt, but other than that it still remained intact.
"Hey, it's the pendant you were about to give me!" Molly gasped, surprised that the pendant managed to stay intact despite everything.
"I can't believe it!" Libby used the sleeve of her sweater to clean it to the best of her ability. Despite Libby's best efforts, the pendant still had dirt on it. "I'm sorry, Molly. There's still dirt that I can't seem to get off."
With a smile, Molly happily held the pendant in her hands. "Don't be sorry, Libby! It's still perfect either way!" Molly placed the pendant around her neck, to which Libby gave a smile.
Happy that they were finally together, Molly and Libby wrapped their arms around each other before pressing their lips together as they shared their first kiss. Once they eventually broke from the kiss, the girls stared lovingly in each others eyes.
"I love you, Libby!" Molly smiled.
"I love you too, Molly!" Libby replied.
Tired from their long day, Molly and Libby decided to finally go to sleep. They entered the tent, where they fell asleep, both of them eagerly awaiting to spend time together tomorrow. Whatever plans they had for the next day of their camping trip, they were both happy that they would get to spend that day together.
The End
