(Ignus POV, Flash back)
Ignus finds himself alone in a classroom in his original human form. He looks very upset with his head on one of the rows of wooden desks. Something happened to him that day.
"What happened here?" a ladies' voice calls out.
Ignus lifts up his head with a startled face. He turns around to see his close mentor during his 'magic defense' classes. It is Necanda standing by her classroom door at the time. She is looking at him with a face of worry. Yet the expression of her mouth does not match her frowning eyes.
"Professor Necanda! What brings the world's greatest professor around here?" Ignus questions with a surprised tone followed by a nervous grin.
"Hehe, this is my classroom my dear great student" Necanda responds making Ignus bop himself on the forehead making Necanda laugh even more as she walks up to him. "However, why are you not celebrating your graduation party with your friends at the main hall?"
Ignus's expression darkens with a sigh peeping Necanda's interest. He says, "I thought I had friends."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, since the beginning of the final year, a lot of students have been avoiding me for some reason. They started to whisper nasty rumors about me. Rumors like me being some kind of dweeb or something. I went to my friends for help but turns out not only they were bullies the whole time doing horrible things behind my back!"
"Seriously?" Necanda raises a brow.
"I am. When I tried to confront them, they revealed they were only pretending to my friend. Turns out they had some jealously towards me and start to treat me like a piece of dirt! How could they do this to me!?"
"In what ways did they treat you in such?" Necanda questions Ignus's claim sounding a bit sus.
"Well…" Ignus hesitates a bit before taking a breath and reveals his story, "First they started spreading rumors calling me a royal clown and other terrible things. Then they even used magic to ignite my hair on fire, blow up my lunch on my face making others laugh at me! Then one day during a presentation, they made fun of my love for dragons!"
"You were made fun of for liking dragons?" Necanda questions with a frown sounding a bit offended.
"Oh, believe me professor. They even started to call me a 'Scaly dweeb' whatever that means. Since then, the other students have been calling me that ever since! I was even tricked into kissing a Kobold after blindfolding me!" Ignus further rants walking in a few circles. "Even worse, the other professors would do nothing about it! I tried getting help but they just brush it off as a phase!"
"Have you told you father about any of it?" Necanda questions with a smirk and a raised brow.
"Not yet, but I will definitely tell him everything! He would never let me down!" Ignus declares a bit hopeful.
"Are you sure about that?" Necanda adds folding her arms.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, I would not bother telling him as it will not change anything." Necanda states standing up from her chair. "What I am saying boy is that you should not be putting your trust on people."
Ignus just looks at her confused, trying to process what she is saying. Necanda walks up to Ignus and places her skinney hand on his shoulder and says, "What about I show you the truth about how people really are. A truth so painful, you might as well not have any faith in all human beings…especially your own family."
With that, Necanda guides Ignus out of the classroom to show him this truth she claims. A truth, that would shatter his faith in people.
(Ignus POV, Reality)
In the jungles of Heart, Ignus is following Sisu to the village that he destroyed on three legs. His forearm is occupied by holding the cow that he is going to give the village to pay for the one he stole. His face looks exhausted for all the walking instead of just flying.
"Care to explain why can't we just fly there? It will be a lot faster than this!" he complains
"For starters, there is no rain for me to hop unless you want me to make some. And second, I don't want yah to fly away on my watch," Sisu answers. Ignus groans in response ignoring the mention of 'make some'. "And please go easy with your grip, you're chocking the poor thing like some kind of stress ball!"
Ignus looks at his forearm to see that he has his grip on the cow's neck, The poor think is indeed looking like it is getting choked making Ignus huff and lessen his grip to let the cow breathe yet still afraid of him.
"Goodie goodie! Let's keep making haste!" declares Sisu as the pair continues to on their path.
(The Village, Still Ignus POV)
The Village itself is under repairs. People from villages nearby sent their best workers in order to the help the farming village Ignus destroyed. Hammering the nails, pulling the lumber, readjusting the cement clay, and helping out those who lost their homes. That is until a certain pair of dragons, one familiar and one alien emerge out of the wall of trees. Sisu trots further into the village as Ignus make a brief stop in the shadows looking grumpy with the cow still in his paw.
The villagers take notice, specifically to Sisu. The human children among all rush to meet a familiar dragon.
"SISU!"
"Heya kiddos! How is it going?" Sisu leans down and gazes at the kids.
"It's very bad" a young girl reply.
"How so?" Sisu questions even though she knows the answer.
"There was this big red monster who flew into the village and almost burned everything!" a young boy adds and points at the village under construction.
"Oh dear!?" Sisu cringes at how much destruction Ignus created.
An old man wearing a teal robe, the mayor walks up to Sisu and says, "The kids speak truth lady Sisu, a monster like no other caused a lot of destruction you see there."
"Was there a reason why this monster attacked?" Sisu questions the mayor.
"Well, let's just say a group of reckless hunters attacked it without thinking and now we paid the price for it. I had them all fired and put them on community service. But still! That creature must be dealt with!" The mayor rants making Sisu a bit uneasy.
"Yeeeah, look, what if I said-"
"THE RED MONSTER!" a woman villager shrieks pointing a finger at a not so amused Ignus emerging from the shadows with a cow in fore claw. Almost the entire village begin to panic rushing into their homes. Those who are parents drag their kids with them. Nearby village guards rush in with spears and make a formation pointing them at Ignus. Yet he did not flinch, just sat like a dog keeping his not amused face.
"What a nice reunion this is am I right?" Ignus barks a mock as he slowly tightens his grip on the poor cow. Sisu makes one big jump right in between the guards and Ignus.
"NO NO NO! wait!" Sisu uses one of her palms for the guards to stop.
"LADY SISU WHAT ARE YOU DOING!? THAT THING IS THE MONSTER!" the mayor shouts as he runs up in front of the guards and faces the water dragon defending what he calls a monster.
"Guys, He ain't no monster just…misunderstood," Sisu tries to explain to the mayor.
"Misunderstood? MISUNDERSTOOD! That red demon creature literally burned the village and stole a cow!"
As the mayor continues his accusing rant, the pouting Ignus looks to the guards who are all still looking at him with their spears drawn. With his yellow eyes Ignus spots a familiar one. It is the female hunter who ran away from him like a coward, and she is shaking. She must have been forced to join the guard as community service as a punishment for leading him to the village. Ignus grins and says, "Why hello there, you were that tasty hunter lady that ran away from me am I right?"
Ignus slurps after he says it. Makes the young woman shakes even more in fear, really thinking the monster is planning to eat her. Not that he would. Another guard, a young man puts a hand on her shoulder and whispers for her not to let him get into her skin.
"Lady Sisu," the mayor begins, "we respected you dragons as our great protectors and companions form many years but to defend a fiend, a criminal? Seriously?"
"Look…It is true that he turned your village into a BBQ, but he is not the hate filled monster you think he is!" Sisu tries to explain.
The mayor and the guards give Sisu a WTF look. They cartoonishly take a peak at Ignus who softly growls at them showing his sharp teeth and fangs. They probably think Sisu is losing her mind believing an angry creature like him is not a monster. Then they move eyes back at Sisu who in turn sighs.
"If makes you all feel better, me and my siblings caught him and sentence him into dragon community service hoping to teach how to stop being grumpy. We are here hoping to help you all rebuild your village in order to take responsibility, starting with paying you a cow to repay for the other he did steal."
"Hold on?" the mayor questions with a brow, "You dragons actually caught him and believe you could reform that beast?"
"That is the plan. So, if you all please give this poor new dragon a chance in reforming before he… unintentially strangle the poor little cow to death." Sisu pleas sounding awkwardly nervous at the end.
"Why yyyyyyes pleeeeeasse before I definitely strangle mr fart bag for blowing a fume at my faccccce," Ignus angrily adds with a hiss as he tightens his grip further making the cow's face turn purple.
The mayor looks at the guards briefly. The Guards look back, wondering to know what he is going to decide. He looks back at Sisu who is giving him a hopeful nervous look with a grin, pleading to give Ignus who she somehow called him a dragon a chance.
With a defeated sigh, the mayor/elder says, "We accept your offer, well trust you in this…guards lower your guard."
The guards hesitantly lower their spears. Sisu gets happy and signals Ignus to give them cow. So he did by throwing it like a bowling ball right at the guards, making them fall liking bowling pins.
The mayor/elder looks to Sisu and says, "You better know what you are doing."
UPDATE: I hope you all enjoy the chapter. Might take a awhile becuase i got hooked on this game called Cyberpunk2077 and also i am still working on the sequal of my book. Also i did some changes and tweeks of my first chapter of this fic. thank you and stay tuned ;)
UDATE: Thank you OragonKing for the info, so I add a mention of her doing the rain power. Even if Sisu could in this situation, can't give Ignus a chance to escape right? ;)
