"Reports are flooding in recently on the sudden disappearance of the Man of Steel."

A figure leaped over a gap between streets and managed to reach the other end.

"The entire city is asking the same question. Where is Superman?"

The figure kept running across the rooftops as he came across another gap and street. Quickly jumping across the gap, he didn't seem to make it this time and fell downward. But he managed to grab onto the side of the building, and he was even sticking to the brick. Crawling up the side of the building and making it to the ceiling, he just sighed in relief.

The figure then quickly raced up and did some parkour on the upside of the building and shot out a substance out of a device on his wrist. The figure then swung across the city and landed just outside a spotlight.

His suit follows a blue and red color scheme. The body, head, outer arms, upper hip, and knee-high boots are red while the inner arms, upper legs, and outer torso are matt blue. The colors are in a bright tone, especially red colorings. The eye lenses are black on the outline and white in the middle. They are also wide.

The spider insignia is small, fist-sized, and centered just above the chest. At the back, there is another spider insignia but instead of black, it's red and big. The web shooters are located in the wrists. The boots are also slightly below the knee, with black outlining covering them and the feet. The black outlining in particular resembles a spider's web, especially on the mask area and the torso. These outlines split the suit into rectangle segments, which are especially visible on the torso area, neck, and shoulders.

Lifting the mask up, he frantically panted to show this was his first time testing out this suit and gadgets. He was just a fifteen-year-old boy with light short dark hair.

"I know what you're thinking. This is a lot of exposition that gives away a lot, but at the same time, explains nothing. Well, maybe we're trying something different here. And to get an understanding of what's going on right now, we're going to need to go back to the beginning."

1 MONTH AGO:

The boy who would soon be running around in the tight spandex outfit was lying in bed. He was a bit of a loud sleeper, something he is told is genetic and received from his mother. His mother in question was Lois Lane, the famous reporter who always ends up getting rescued by Superman. The Man of Tomorrow.

Fifteen years later, that's still who she is. Someone going in over her head to find the truth and won't let anything get in her way of it. Even if it means she needs to get used to being known as the woman Superman always ends up rescuing.

Even pregnancy didn't stop her from doing her job.

At first.

It took a lot of demand from Clark, Jimmy, and even Perry White to finally have her take leave. None of them wanted her doing anything dangerous with the baby at risk. Clark even called in his cousin to try and keep her from doing anything dangerous and to help her out since the father wasn't currently in the picture. Kara also later became a babysitter to Peter.

Peter Lane. That was his name. Lois went with it as it just sounded like a nice calming name to go by. Just a common natural name for a normal boy.

God, that didn't work out for her.

Peter woke up and started to get out of bed and reached over to his desk next to the bed. He then picked up a pair of glasses and placed them on his face. Son of Lois Lane, the smartest boy in school, and also slightly nearsighted. Yeah, not the most popular boy to be around. Others would either think that they'd be in danger of capture by some maniac to get to Lois or think that he is just some annoying know-it-all.

Peter got up and quickly started to get dressed so that he could start getting ready for school. He made his way out of the bedroom and started to make his way down the hall. He overheard the news was on and couldn't help but hear his mother seemed to be on the news.

"There is still no confirmation on what caused the explosion, but there were reports of Superman making his way to try and rescue the crew," Lois reported as Peter walked around to get ready for school. "But after hours, there is still no sign of either the crew or Man of Steel. People are starting to worry something might have gone wrong."

"Morning, Mom." Peter greeted the television as if he was really talking to her.

He was used to a few days where he would wake up and see there was nobody home. When he was younger, he would recall tons of times when he would be babysat by Kara Danvers. The cousin to Clark Kent, who was a coworker of his mother's, and she would be the one to babysit him over the years. But in recent days, she's been a bit busier than normal. Peter wasn't quite sure what she did. All she said was that it was to help others and benefit people's lives.

Getting some breakfast, he made himself some cereal for something quick and easy. He needed to get going as fast as he could before he missed the field trip. Heaven knows it took a lot of convincing to get his mom to even agree to the idea for him to be able to go.

Peter sat on the school bus in the back, away and far from everyone else. See, he wasn't exactly the one to socialize well with others. Something his mother said he had gotten from his father.

His father was somewhat of a mystery to him with there being no real answer for who he was. His mother constantly said he was better off not knowing who he was, and it didn't seem like anyone else knew who he was either. Whether it be Clark, Jimmy, or even Kara, anyone he asked would always say that they weren't sure. He couldn't tell if they were lying or telling the truth. Because he was aware all of them feared his mother's wrath, which could smite down a god if she so wished.

"Hello, I'm Mercy Graves, here to welcome you to the LexCorp Foundation, I'll be with you for the duration of your visit. Where I go, you go. That's the rule. Remember that... and all will be fine. Come on!" Their tour guide seemed less than impressed with the idea of giving them a tour of the facility. "Now, follow me." Then she started to lead the way through the facility with Peter and the whole class following.

As they were reaching the biochemical experiments, Peter was looking at a few of the glasses showing off some of the genetically enhanced spiders.

"Born from the mind of our founder, Lex Luthor... the LexCorp Tower houses 108 floors of innovation." Mercy was explaining, sounding like she had constantly repeated this. Almost like it was scripted. "Our scientific minds are pushing the boundaries of defense, biomedical... and chemical technologies. The future lies within." Then the elevators opened and she almost seemed to sigh in relief. "Oh, thank god. We have a special surprise. I present to you all, Lex Luthor."

Lex put on a smile as he approached the group, flipping a coin in his hands. "Hello, I almost forgot we had a tofu group today. Our recent shuttle loss has consumed a lot,of attention and resources."

"Explosion?" Flash Thompson, the resident bully of the school, asked him.

Lex sighed as he seemed disappointed in him. "Ah, kids today. No interest in what goes on unless it involves a man in a cape." He mumbled and went back into a fake smile. "Yes, we lost a shuttle and two of our astronauts. Luckily, some of their findings were rescued and brought back to us."

Peter and the class watched as three giant containers just about their size standing right way up were then rolled past them. All of them had a glass side, but having filled with some sort of gas so they couldn't see what they contained. But Peter swore for a split second, he saw a hand reach out through the smoke and touch the glass. He figured it was just something to do with his glasses and took them off to wipe them.

"Now, we may continue our tour..." Mercy was gesturing towards another hallway, Peter kept his eyes on the container coming across him. "We shall-"

That's when everything was set into motion.

The top part of the container Peter swore he saw the hand inside of blew up. At least the glass was blown everywhere, and the force of it sent Peter flying into the glass containers of genetic spiders. The entire area went into a panic as smoke began to fill the room, alarms blaring and everyone scrambling to make sense of what was happening.

And that's when Peter missed one of the spiders escaping their captive cells and landing on his neck. Peter wasn't exactly sure what happened as he felt the back of his head and felt it was bleeding due to the glass that hit him. But when he opened his eyes, he looked to see something crawling out of the canister that blew up.

When the figure stood up, Peter was sure he could make out some sort of feminine figure standing up. He could make out some feet and legs through the smoke, confirming the figure seemed to be nude and had...orange Skin? That's something he definitely didn't expect. But when he looked upward, he noticed two glowing green eyes looking right at him.

Peter started to back away in fear, not sure what this figure was about to do. Then he felt a sudden jolt of pain in his neck and wasn't sure how else things could go worse. Several armed men came in and yelled at the figure who was becoming less visible due to the smoke. And Peter started to feel light-headed and found it becoming more and more difficult to keep himself awake.

He laid down his head and kept his eyes open as much as he could to watch the figure shoot beams of green energy from their fists and ran away. He couldn't keep his eyes open anymore and ended up laying his head down and closing his eyes.

The next time Peter woke up, he was getting a light to shun down his eyes and he was laying down on a bed of sorts. He heard people talking and frantically checking in and Peter realized he was surrounded by doctors.

"Hey, kid, Peter, you hear me?" The head doctor asks as he saw he was waking up. "Can you respond?"

"Uh...uh, yeah, I can hear you," Peter said as he sat up and noticed where he was. He was definitely in a hospital, he just wasn't sure what exactly happened. "What...what happened?"

"I'll tell you what happened." Peter heard his mother's voice, turning to see she was sitting in a chair aside from him. "Next time I say 'no' to a field trip, it's a no." She then walked over and held her son, pulling him in close for a hug. "Oh, I thought I lost you."

"I'm okay." Peter sighed as he hugged his mother back. "I'm okay, Mom."

"I am glad to hear it." Their moment was interrupted when Lex Luthor entered the room. "I was deeply concerned when I heard one of the students was injured." He then looked over to Lois and he had a look of shock. "Ms. Lane."

"Luthor." Lois snarled, and Peter was aware of the kind of history the two of them have.

Lex then dragged a hand over his head, as if he was trying to comb hair that doesn't exist. "Well, I must admit, this is a nice surprise. I wasn't aware you had a son."

"What the hell are you doing here?" Lois didn't seem interested in chatting.

"Well, I thought it would be best that I informed the boy and parental figure, unaware you would be here, that I would cover the hospital bill," Lex promised and looked at Peter. "But it seemed that you won't need much. From what I'm told, you just took a hit to the head and will be able to walk it off."

"Thank you kindly, Mr. Luthor, but please go. I think I've had enough of you for today." Lois asks of him.

Lex nodded as he backed away and left the room, leaving the mother-and-son duo. Lois sighed as she kept caressing the head of her son, wanting to hold him and make sure he knew she was there. But while Peter laid back and let his body heal, he had no idea what was happening to him on a subatomic level.

His entire body was morphing.

He was gaining powers Luthor could only dream of.

The explosion and gunshots and rapid-fire in the research area gave the cover for Peter to get out without anyone realizing he was bit. Now he was clear to go home as nothing happened, nobody aware this was the birth of someone else.

Something else.

PRESENT DAY:

"And that's what led us here. I woke up the next day, didn't need my glasses to see, had some new abilities that seemed supernatural, and Superman was still missing. And with him out of the way, crime was becoming rampant."

Peter then watched as a random fire started off in the distance and he looked stern and placed the mask over his face again.

"Someone had to do something."

Peter created the suit he was wearing thanks to his mother's resources, just without her knowledge, and created web shooters to help him fight and get around. He couldn't tell his mother about what happened yet, as she'd most likely try to talk him out of it. He needed to do something to protect his city from the loss of Superman, and he was going to do everything to find out what happens to the Man of Steel.

"I have to do something."

Peter shot out a web to then yank himself upward and started to build momentum before shooting another web. He kept going as he swung his way across the city, ready to make his debut as the friendly neighborhood superhero.

Spider-Man.
