The bell for the final time in school rang and everyone was walking out of the school. Peter walked out with his head down, not really having anyone to talk to or catch up with. Not many people in the school like to hang out with him, so he's basically like a shadow to the entire school. But that didn't exactly become a bad thing for him when he needs to walk around and just get changed.
Peter made his way into an alley and quickly got his suit from his bag. It should be okay for the next few hours as he swings around. He knew his mother would be knee-deep in this Carnage Killer and wouldn't be home until late. All he needed to do was get home before she does, and she would be non the wiser about what he was doing.
He still needed to figure out this whole superhero stuff as well as prove he could do it before telling his mother about it. She would only begin to freak out if she discovered her son was a wannabe superhero. This city needed a hero in the absence of Superman.
He started to place his clothes into the bag he just drew his suit from and started to put it on. He zipped his bag up and threw it into the wall where he then webbed it to be sure nobody stole his bag. Gabbing the mask from the ground, he quickly placed it over his head and took a moment to readjust the mask so it was easier to breathe in.
Once he was ready to get back to it, he leaped up to the rooftop of the building, making a mental reminder of it for later. He still needed to stop by so he could grab it, considering he used his spare clothes from the house. He would end up going home in his suit if he wasn't careful about it. He started to make a few swings as he made sure to keep someone watching from discovering where he came from.
"Good morning, Metropolis." News anchors were starting to share their stories of the new hero. "Looks like it's going to be another beautiful day in the city."
"There has been a steady increase of sightings of the vigilante known as Spider-Man."
Peter just kept swinging his way through the city. He was enjoying the feeling of the breeze flowing through his face (technically through his mask) as he just emerged into the role.
"How about that Spider-Guy? Seems he saved a family from a fiery inferno just the other night. We wanna hear your calls."
Peter was swinging when he noticed a young boy running down the street, carrying what he had to guess was a project of sorts. Looking further down the street, he noticed he was being chased by a half dozen kids. The kid took a bad turn as he needed up running down an alleyway with a gate.
"I say that with the Man of Steel missing, this guy is exactly what we need."
When the kid reached the other end of the alley, he tried to practically push through the fence. But that didn't do much when the other kids caught up to him and started to push him around. Ripping his project from his hands, they began to stomp on it and shove him against the fence, not giving them much of a fight.
"But what's to say he didn't have anything to do with the disappearance of Superman? I wonder what he's hiding under that mask."
But that all ended when Peter came down and landed between Peter and the bullies. He stood and saw as they practically shrank down when they saw him stand and talk against him. With or without powers, Peter wasn't a fan of bullies, especially considering he's got one of his own and wouldn't wish that on another.
"Hey, kids," Peter told the bullies, not even moving. "Why don't you pick on someone who can take a hit?" He wasn't actually going to even hit the kids, he just wanted to look intimidating for them. "Or...you can run?"
Seems a lot of them were a fan of the second option when they turned around and raced down the alley. Peter had to admit it was a little funny to watch them run away from him. But he wasn't giving them any attention anymore when he turned and kneeled to be at level height with the kid. Picking up the few pieces of the project that weren't damaged, he was shocked to see what it was.
"Wait, is this a wind turbine?" Peter asks, earning a nod from the kid. "This is a wind turbine! You made this?"
"Yeah." The kid confirms with a smile.
"That's incredible," Peter commented, shooting small webbing to stick together the broken pieces. "That'll hold it together for now." He then handed the project back to the boy. "What do you say I walk you home?"
The kid nodded and Peter gestured for the kid to take the lead and followed. "So, what's your name?"
"Jessica."
"Jessica? That's sweet. I'm...I'm Spider-Man." Peter joked.
After getting Jessica home safely, Peter kept on swinging through the city while making a few air tricks in the process. He swung past the train station, where he saw a dozen bystanders whipping their phones out to record him.
"Everyone good?" Peter asks as he made a quick pose and went back to swinging. "Great!"
Meanwhile, only across the bay, in the darkness of Gotham City, Bruce Wayne was in the Batcave. He was watching as everyone was sharing their opinions on Spider-Man. Some of them were conspiracists saying he had something to do with Superman, others are thankful they still have a hero protecting the city.
"I don't think my kids are safe with him out there. Get out of the way and let the police do their job."
Bruce continues to watch as Alfred approached and placed a cup of tea aside from him. "Interested in the news from Metropolis today, sir?"
"Just looking into the Spider-Man character," Bruce explains his actions.
"He seems to be doing a well enough job protecting the city." Alfred congratulated. "Found any ulterior motives?"
"None that are clear," Bruce commented as he wasn't sure how to respond to this hero. "I can only just keep an eye out to make sure that he isn't up to anything."
Back in Metropolis, Lois was in the middle of writing her story regarding the Carnage Killer. As she was working, there was a news report playing regarding the Spider-Man incidents happening all over the city.
"It's great to at least say that we have a new hero," Jimmy comments as he watched Spider-Man swinging in order to save a girl from an out-of-control car. "I love the suit."
"Meh, the color scheme is too similar to the Boy Scout for my taste," Lois comments. As she was working, her phone started to ring and she saw it was Peter's school. "Hello?" Jimmy turned away to face her and noticed her confused look. "Peter? Are you sure? I...he was out later than he usually was the other night, but I figured that he wouldn't...okay, I'll talk to him."
Jimmy was wondering what was going on when Lois hang up the phone. "What is it?"
"Peter seems to be sleeping in class. I think he's sneaking out recently." Lois explains as she got up and grabbed her purse. "I'm gonna get going and have a talk with him."
Jimmy watched her leave and was happy he wasn't the one about to get her wrath. "I feel sorry for you, Peter."
Downtown, there was a sudden electrical surge that came from the electrical equipment that everyone was carrying. A dozen bolts of lighting came out of their appliances and came together to make a human shape. The shape came in the form of a pale-skinned woman with light blue hair that looked like it was electrocuted. Her outfit consisted of a one-piece black suit with a lightning bolt going down the middle.
"Guess whos back, Metropolis?" The figure asked with a laugh. "Livewire is back in town!"
Peter was just a few streets over, sitting on top of the subway with his phone out. He wasn't entirely sure what he was supposed to do since he didn't have any way of passing the time with there no crimes. But that was when his head buzzed and he then looked over and noticed the bolts of electricity coming from the ground.
"Now that's something," Peter comments as he then puts his phone away. "Let's see what's going on."
Leslie laughed as she started to shoot more electricity when the cops started to arrive at the scene. Everyone was running for their lives to escape the mad woman and her blasts of power. But she stopped for a moment and laughed at their unfortunates.
"Oh, where oh where is your capped crusader now?" Leslie asks mockingly.
She shoots another blast and sent a cop car flipping over. One of the officers ended up being there and was too afraid to move. Luckily that was when Peter managed to move in and tackled the car, catching it with his hands.
"I'm so glad we live in a city where cops don't ride horses," Peter stated as he noticed the shock on his face. "Yeah, Spider-Man." He then tried his best to put the car down. "I'm real."
Leslie then sent another blast of electricity. "No Duperman, and there's no one to protect you!"
Peter then flipped and landed on the car hood. "I wouldn't say that!"
Leslie spun around to face the hero in tights. "What?"
"Hey, Livewire, right?" Peter asks causally, giving a friendly wave. "Nice to meet you." He then gestured to himself. "Names Spider-Man."
"Spider-Man?" Livewire questions in complete loss. "What are you supposed to be? Superman's sidekick?"
"Pretty sure the big man doesn't even know I exist, lady," Peter stated as he then flopped down to sit on the car hood. "Now, why don't you do all of us a favor and knock for all of this "might of Zeus" thing you've got going."
Leslie looked around as if she was expecting to hear some sort of punchline. "I'm sorry, does mommy know you're out past your bedtime?"
Peter now had a moment to look around and figured she was talking about his age. "What? Think that you can't handle me or something?"
Leslie took that as a challenge and smiled. "Oh, kid, you have no idea who you're messing with." She then started to charge up a blast, and Peter realized he didn't think this through. "Let's light this place up!"
Leslie then sent a massive wave of electricity that sent cars flipping, and Peter jumped to avoid the rails he was standing on from electrocuting him. But then suddenly his entire body felt like it had gone into a form of slowdown. He felt his entire body warning him of how the car that was flipping was going to hit an elderly man with glasses who was frozen in shock. Not to mention there were two people a small distance away that was about to touch the metal railing and be electrocuted.
Working as fast as his body and brain can conduct together, he used his webs and shot several dozen strands on both ends of two light posts. He ended up creating a giant net made out of webbing and managed to stop the car from hitting the old man. Taking this as a chance to flip and get further, he managed to shoot two webs with his arms crossed to shoot the hands of the two people about to touch the railing. The webbing grabbed onto their hands and he managed to get them to stop from touching the railing when the electricity passed, helping them stay alive and making him realize there was no sign of Leslie.
The people were beginning to run away from the area while Peter was looking around to try and find where she was. But before her senses could even go off to alert him, she suddenly came flying out of a screen nearby. She punched Peter and sent him flying across the street where he smacked into the ground head-on.
"Ow." Peter groaned as he got back up and looked around. "Okay, now I'm ready for ya!"
"Are ya, now?" Livewire asks, her face being plastered on the screens. "Let's put that to the test."
Peter didn't even know what happened next when suddenly he was sent flying across the street again by the lightning blur. Then it was followed with another hit again, sending him across the street. And then she went in again, and yet again, again, and again. She then went underneath him and sucker punched him and sent him upward into the air. Adding insult to injury when she then went above him and slammed him into the ground with full force.
Peter was then hit over and over, again and again, blast after blast. Not being able to take anymore, seems Leslie noticed and stopped.
"Look at that, even this hotshot can't take me on," Leslie said as she charged one final blow. "Now...down came the lighting-"
Peter worked fast as he shoots out a strand of webbing to blind her. Leslie shrieked in surprise as she grabbed onto the webbing, trying to yank it off her head. And by the time she managed to get it off her head, she looked around and noticed there was no sign of Spider-Man anywhere.
Leslie chuckled and shrugged it off. "It he wants to show his face again...he knows what's gonna happen to him."
Peter escaped as fast as he could and tried to get as far away as he could to avoid the danger zone. He groaned as he felt his chest, feeling all of the pain that he endured trying to fight that girl. He then limped his way over to the alley where he dropped his bag and ripped his mask off. His entire suit was fried, medium rare.
"Okay...that didn't go as well as I hoped." Peter groaned as he slid down the side of the building to reach the ground. He then made it down, only for him to discover there was no sign of his bag, and the webbing was ripped. "And just keep adding insult to injury."
Now not only did he have to make it all the way back to his home without his school supplies, but he also needed to sneak in as Spider-Man. He could possibly get away with sneaking in through the balcony. His mom wasn't going to be back, and even if she was, he couldn't exactly check. His phone was on him when Leslie struck him, and now it was burned to a crisp.
He just had to go and Judy hope nobody was there.
Making it across the city as best that he could with his injuries, he was making his way home. He tried to get around stealthy, but it was t working every time he moved he would wince and groan. It was just too much pain for him to keep in.
Making his way up the side of his home, he never really figured out how big his home was until he had to scale up the side of it. When he finally reached his balcony, he dropped down to the ground and just lay there for a moment. He then crawled to his feet and reached over to grab onto the latch to open the doors. Once the doors opened, he groaned as he started to make his way inside.
But when he got just a few feet inside, a small light flicked on, causing Peter to freeze and realize he's been caught. Looking over slowly, he was met with an angered and somewhat disappointed look from his mother.
"Nice costume," Lois said in her sarcastic voice.
Oh, boy...
Peter just froze and wanted to try and find something to say. "Thanks...?"
