Chapter 5
Medaka sends out the Green Army men on a mission to check on some toys and to make sure no one's getting replaced
The green sarge toy looks over the landing with his binoculars to see Andy and his friends heading for the living room to begin opening presents and his mom heading to the kitchen
OK, come on, kids. Everyone in the living room. It's almost time for the presents. Mrs. Davis said
The green sarge toy motions two parachuters to jump and open the parachutes to glide down to the floor they look around the hall to make sure no one is around and signals for the rope to be lowered and the rest of the Army Men slide down the rope to the floor as the toys move over to the lamp table where Medaka is setting up the monitor
All right, gangway, gangway. Gene said
And THIS is how we find out what is in those presents. Medaka said
Cool. Gene said
The Army Men walk across the hall when they heard Andy's mom coming
OK, who's hungry? Mrs. Davis said
The green sarge toy and his men all froze after hearing Andy's mom was about to come in
Here come the chips. I've got Cool Ranch and barbecue! Mrs. Davis said
Andy's mom comes out of the kitchen and steps on one of the Green Army Men crushing him with her foot
Ow! What in the world...oh! I thought I told him to pick these up. Mrs. Davis said
Andy's mom kicks them away with her foot and moves on
The toys were all waiting for answers in Andy's room right now
Shouldn't they be there by now? What's taking them so long? Zoidberg said
Hey, these guys are professionals. They're the best. Come on! They're not lyin' down on the job. Medaka said
I guess so. Zoidberg said
Good. Medaka said
The Army Men are lying on the floor the green sarge toy stood up and motioned his soldiers to move to the plant pot for safety the green sarge toy heard some moaning and turns to see one of his soldiers crushed from being stepped on and moving limply across the floor
G-G-Go on without me! the green soldier toy said
Soldier! What happened to you? the green sarge toy said
J-Just go! the green soldier toy said
A good soldier never leaves a man behind. the green sarge toy said
The green sarge toy motions to his soldiers on the landing and they lower the baby monitor to the ground and they carry it to the flower pot. A ball rolls towards them so they move fast and climbs into the pot just as the ball rolled by, followed by the boys and Andy's mom
OK, everybody, come on. Mrs. Davis said
The soldiers set the baby monitor up while a medic tends to the wounded solider and gives a thumb's up to the green sarge toy who peers under the leaves and looks through his binoculars to see the presents
Everybody settle down. Now, kids. Everybody...you sit in a circle. No, Andy. Andy, you sit in the middle there. Good. And...which present are you gonna open first? Mr. Davis said
Mine! the boy said
The green sarge toy looks at the presents with his binoculars
There they are. the green sarge toy said
A few more minutes later
Upstairs in Andy's room, the toys hear the green sarge toy's voice on the Baby Monitor
Come in, Mother Bird. the green sarge toy said
Yes? Medaka said
This is Alpha Bravo. the green sarge toy said
Alright. This is it! This is it! Quiet, quiet! Medaka said
Come in, Mother Bird. the green sarge toy said
I'm here, Alpha Bravo. Medaka said
All right, Andy's opening the first present now. the green sarge toy said
Good. Medaka said
Mrs. Lisa! Mrs. Lisa! Mrs. Lisa! Bart said
Zoidberg and Gene look at Bart confused by what he said
Mrs. Lisa? Zoidberg and Gene both said
Hey, i can dream, can't i? Bart said
The bow's coming off. He's ripping the wrapping paper. the green sarge toy said
What's inside the first present Sarge? Medaka said
It's a...it's...it's a...a lunch box. We've got a lunch box here. the green sarge toy said
A lunch box? Medaka said
A lunch box? Bart said
It must be for. I say it must be for lunch. Foghorn said
OK, second present. It appears to be... the green sarge toy said
Appears to be what Serge? Medaka said
OK, it's bed sheets. the green sarge toy said
Bed sheets? Medaka said
Who invited that kid? Bart said
No idea. Gene said
The green sarge toy watches as Andy's mom picks up the presents one by one until there's only one left
Oh! Only one left. Mrs. Davis said
OK, we're on the last present now. the green sarge toy said
Last present! Medaka said
It's a big one. It's a... the green sarge toy said
It's a what? Medaka said
It's a board game! Repeat, Battleship! the green sarge toy said
Battleship huh? Medaka said
Affirmative. the green sarge toy said
Whew! Medaka said
The toys all cheer as they are happy that no one's getting replaced
Yes. Bart said
Finally. Zoidberg said
Hallelujah! Yeah! All right! Gene said
Gene accidentally bumps Bart knocking some of his parts out
Hey, watch it! Bart said
Sorry, old spud head. Gene said
Mission accomplished. Well done, men. Pack it up. We're goin' home. the green sarge toy said
The men started to turn off the baby monitor as they were done
So didn't i tell you all? Huh? Nothing to worry about. No one is replaced. Medaka said
I knew you were right all along, Medaka. Never doubted ya for a second. Foghorn said
Just then the green sarge toy sees Andy's mom pull out a surprise present from the closet
Wait a minute. Oh! What do we have here? Mrs. Davis said
Wait! Turn that thing back on! the green sarge toy said
The baby monitor turns back on and the green sarge toy's voice is heard on it
Come in, Mother Bird! Come in, Mother Bird! the green sarge toy said
Is something wrong Sarge? Medaka said
Mom has pulled a surprise present from the closet. the green sarge toy said
A surprise what? Medaka said
A surprise toy. the green sarge toy said
You've got to be kidding me. Medaka said
I'm not kidding ma'am. the green sarge toy said
I knew it. Zoidberg said
Tell me more Sarge. Medaka said
Andy's opening it. the green sarge toy said
Yes? Medaka said
He's really excited about this one. the green sarge toy said
Yes? Medaka said
Mom, what is it? Andy said
It's a huge package. the green sarge toy said
Suddenly a boy gets in the way of Sarge's view of the surprise toy
Oh, get outta the... the green sarge toy said
Is something wrong Sarge? Medaka said
One of the kids is in the way. I can't see. the green sarge toy said
Just ignore it. Medaka said
Bart puts his hand to his head and his sides while Medaka looks anxiously
It's a... the green sarge toy said
It's a what? Medaka said
Wow! the other kids said
Andy holds up his present over the plant while upstairs Zoidberg is anxious to know what the present was
It's a what? What is it? Zoidberg said
Calm down Zoidberg. Medaka said
No. Zoidberg said
Zoidberg shakes the lamp table and the baby monitor falls to the floor as the batteries pop out
Oh no! Zoidberg said
Oh, ya big lobster! Now we'll never know what it is! Bart said
Way to go, Zoidberg! Gene said
I'm sorry. Zoidberg said
The toys were helping Bart put the batteries inside the baby monitor but with no luck
No, Turn 'em around! Turn 'em around! Medaka said
He's puttin' 'em in backwa...here, you're puttin' 'em in backwards! Gene said
Bart tries to move the batteries forward
Plus is positive, and minus is negative! Oh, let me! Medaka said
Medaka jumps down and shoves Hamm aside to put the batteries back in
I'll do it! Medaka said
While Medaka and the other toys are putting the batteries back in something big is about to happen stay tuned
