To all my readers-This is the first time that I'm going to do Yugioh without making any character name changes. I want you all to know that my OC Paige Muto is related to Yugi and her looks are based on him. So, think of Paige as a feminine Yugi and Atem. Before anyone asks, yes, I will be doing all 5 seasons of Yugioh and that includes Capsule monsters as well. I was once asked if Paige would be dueling and yes, she will. You wont be able to see her duel until season 2 when Kaiba starts his Battle City Tournament.
If anyone, and I mean anyone tries to rush me while writing this fanfic or any of my other fanfics, all written chapters will be delayed for a week. No exceptions. Leave a positive review and Happy Reading!
I DONT OWN YUGIOH AT ALL! I ONLY OWN THE OC AND HER DUELING DECK!
Shoutouts:
At Pegasus' castle, a rope made out of bed sheets was thrown out the window. A familiar young boy wearing a light blue bandana over his face was now sporting a purple hat on his head as he peers out the window. He then climbs out the window and down the makeshift rope until he reaches the end of it. "Huh? Uhh…" he said, realizing that he had miscalculated.
Suddenly, one of the knots came unknotted and he falls towards the trees, finally reaching the ground upon impact. One of Pegasus' men pushes a cart towards the door of their hostage.
"All right, you little runt." he said once he opened the door. "Here's your daily gruel. Ha ha."
He then noticed the sheets going out the window. "Huh?" he said, realizing what was going on. "Oh, no. He's gone!"
In the other part of the castle, a portrait of a man in Egyptian clothing and a picturesque woman were hanging on the wall. Pegasus laughs a sinister laugh as he takes a sip of his drink and reads a comic book. "Where do these guys get all their ideas?" he asked himself before laughing again.
"Uh, Master Pegasus?" his lacky asked.
"Hmm?"
"A thousand pardons, sir."
"Gorgonzola cheese and the world's finest fruit juice. Along with a copy of my favorite comic book." said Pegasus as he returns his attention back to the book. "Times like this are more precious to me than any other. You do realize that don't you?"
"But the prisoner has escaped." he tells him.
"Which one?" asked Pegasus.
"The boy we imprisoned in the north tower." he replied. "I have our men searching the island, but so far, there's no sign of him."
"Ooh. I guess he didn't appreciate my hospitality." said Pegasus, pretending to care about their hostage. "Well, no matter. I'm sure I know exactly where our little escapee is heading."
Pegasus then picks up a remote. "He'll seek out Yugi. Computer, request data on the status of the duel monsters tournament."
A computer screen lowers down from the ceiling and displays what he requested. "6 hours have passed since the dueling contest began." said the computer's voice. "12 of the participants have been eliminated. Those that were defeated and lost their star chips are being removed from the island by boat."
"And what of Yugi Muto?" he asked.
"Yugi Muto has to date gained 5-star chips."
"Wonderful." said Pegasus, satisfied with the results. "I expected no less. he is determined to work his way up the standings in order to gain entry to my castle, which is exactly what I want little Yugi to do. We'll just keep our spy-cams trained on our star duelist. Sooner or later, the little runaway prisoner will confront Yugi for reasons of his own."
"Hmm. Very wise, sir." said the man.
"Actually, the boy's escape plays right along with my plans, and I do have such special plans in store for Yugi today, plans I hope he'll find as entertaining as I do." said Pegasus and continues reading his book, laughing to himself.
"Wow, Yugi." said Tea. "I can't believe you already won five-star chips."
"Yeah, pretty soon, you'll have the ten you need to get into Pegasus' castle and rescue your grandpa." said Tristan.
"I'm proud of you, Yugi." said Paige.
"I wish I had more star chips." said Joey.
"Don't worry about it, Joey." Yugi tells him. "You're doing fine. You'll be able to help your sister out soon."
"I sure hope so." said Joey as he looks up to the sky. "Serenity's really counting on me…and I won't let her down."
"Ahh!"
"Huh?"
"Help!" shouted a boy.
"What's that?" asked Tristan, as they all looked to see where the shout was coming from.
"Help me, somebody! Please!" shouted the boy. Up ahead, the boy was being dragged away by the man in suit. "AAH! Let go of me! Somebody help me!" he shouted as Yugi and the others ran up.
"Hold on, kid. We're comin'." said Tristan.
"Help! you gotta help me!" shouted the boy as the man in suit turns around.
"Let that kid go!" demanded Tristan with a fist pulled back.
"Help! Help me, please!"
"I'm on the big guy!"
Tristan then grabs the guy by the arm and throws him to the ground. "Not too shabby." said Tristan. The man in the suit landed on his feet before jumping into the air and kicking Tristan in his back.
"I'm off the big guy." said Tristan, lying face down in the dirt. The man in suit then goes back after the boy, grabbing him.
"Put me down!" he shouted.
"Quit squirming, you little brat." he said.
"You heard him, needle-head." said Joey. "Put the kid down."
"What do you think you're doing?" asked Yugi.
"This is none of your business." said the suit. "This duelist lost his star chips, and the rules say he's to be kicked off the island."
"But I didn't lose my chips in a duel!" exclaimed the boy. "They were stolen from me! My cards, too!"
"I don't care what lame excuse you have kid. You need star chips to duel and you haven't got any, so your shipping out of here. Those are the rules. Those are my orders from Pegasus himself."
"Uhh. That big creep." groaned Tristan as he sits up from the ground. "I say we follow him."
"Hey, Kemo. What'd you catch?" asked one of the goons.
"Just another loser." said Kemo and throws the boy into the boat.
"Hey, buzz off!" said Weevil as he pushed the guy off of him. "They may be shipping me out, but I'm still Weevil Underwood, bug-duelist extraordinaire."
The boy sighs, sad that he lost his deck. "But I didn't even get a chance to duel." he said.
"Hey!" shouted Yugi as they reached the docks.
"Huh?"
"Hey, you!"
"You again?" asked Kemo.
"What did the guy who stole your star chips look like?" Yugi asked.
"Well, I couldn't see his face." explained the boy. "It was covered with a bandana, but he was a little guy and he challenged me in the meadow."
"He challenged you to a duel monsters game?" asked Yugi.
"Yeah. But as soon as I put my star chips and duel monsters deck down, he snatched 'em up and ran off with them."
"You shouldn't be shipped off the island for that." said Yugi. "We'll get your star chips back."
"Yeah." said Paige. "And my brother's word is his bond."
"This boat leaves in exactly 30 minutes. Anyone without a star chip ships out." said Kemo.
"Then we'll get his chips back by that time." said Tea.
"We won't let you bully him out of the game." said Tristan.
"Nope. We'll catch that little thief and bring him to justice. Believe me kid. You can count on us to track him down and get those star chips back." Joey assured him.
"But who are you guys?" asked the boy.
"We're the guys that are gonna save your star chips." said Joey. "Don't worry. You got the brilliant mind of Joey Wheeler on the case, and I always get my man…"
The others sighed as he continues. "Even if he's just a kid. Onward, troops!"
"So, what's your brilliant mind telling you now, Sherlock?" asked Tristan as they walked up towards a duel stadium.
"Uhh, beats me." said Joey. "Right now, the only thing my brilliant mind is doing is giving me a brilliant headache."
"Figures." said Paige.
"Well, maybe we should stake out the scene of the crime. It's over there." said Yugi as he runs over to the stadium.
"Think the thief will come back?" asked Joey.
"He just might, and we can put our heads together and plan in the meantime." Yugi suggested.
"Yeah, but don't forget one of those heads is Joey's." said Tristan. "That's sort of like subtracting one brain."
"Ah ha." Joey said sarcastically. Out from the bushes, the same boy appeared.
"I found you at last, Yugi." said the boy with the familiar voice.
"That must be the kid we were looking for." said Joey.
"I can handle him." said Tristan.
"I hope so, you're twice his size." said Tea.
"I know that voice." said Paige.
"Just try me, you big dork." said the boy.
"Back off, kid." said Tristan.
"And hand over the star chips you swiped from that other duelist." added Joey.
"Hold on. I think I know what this kid's after." said Yugi. "He wants to duel."
"Huh?" both boys asked.
"That's what you want, right? You want to duel me?" asked Yugi.
"Aw, you better believe it." he said. Both Yugi and the boy went to both ends of the stadium.
"I don't get it. Why is Yugi going to the trouble of dueling this guy when we could just take those star chips away from him?" asked Joey.
"You know, sometimes I don't think even Yugi knows why he does half the stuff he does." said Tristan.
"Heh. Yeah, it's kind of weird." said Joey. "Do you think it has something to do with his Millenium Puzzle?"
"I get what my brother is trying to do." said Paige causing the others to look at her. "He's doing this because Yugi wants him to understand."
"What do you mean, Paige?" asked Tea.
"Watch and you'll see." she said.
"YUGIOH!"
"Now, how many star chips will you wager?" asked Yugi.
"To wipe you out? 5!" he said.
"Then 5 it is, but only because I think I know why you are doing this."
"I don't care what you think, Yugi, 'cause I think you're gonna lose." said the boy, dumping the five-star chips.
"What does Yugi see that we don't?" asked Tea. "It's like he's looking into the other player's soul."
"Hey, soul, schmoul." said Joey. "I can see from here that that kid's gonna get his butt kicked."
"Maybe…but Yugi should hurry if he plans to get those star chips back to the boat in time." Tristan added.
"It's him, isn't it?" whispered Paige, causing Yugi to quickly glance at her while the others didn't hear her.
"Don't worry, Tristan. He'll win the chips, and we'll be back at the dock with time to spare." said Tea.
"Duel!" shouted Yugi and Mokuba.
"This is it, Yugi. Now you're gonna pay for what you did to my big brother." thought Mokuba.
[Flashback]
"Seto, you've gotta leave now if you're gonna make the boat for the big tournament at Duelist Kingdom." said Mokuba at Kaiba Corp, then knocks on the door. "Seto, open the door!"
Mokuba finally opens the door. "Huh? Seto?" he called out to him, seeing his brother behind his desk.
"I'm not going, Mokuba." said Seto.
"Not going? Why not?" he asked.
"There's no point." Seto tells him as he threw his cards onto the desk.
"What do you mean, 'no point'?" Mokuba asked, shocked at what he had said.
"Kid, I'm in no condition to duel anyone." Seto tries to tell him.
"What are you talking about?" Mokuba asked in anger with his fists in the air. "You always say, 'cards are power', and you've got all the strongest cards."
"Since I lost my duel with Yugi, I just don't know what I think any more." he said. "Everything's different. It feels as if I lost a piece of myself that day."
"But Seto…" Mokuba said. "You're the best. You're the champ."
"Not since the day I was defeated by Yugi." Seto said, then throws a card at his brother.
"Huh?"
"Here, Mokuba. I'm going away for a while." said Seto. "I don't know how long I'll be gone. Keep this. It was always your favorite."
"Why? Why are you leaving?" asked Mokuba.
"Because I don't know who I am anymore." explained Seto and heads out the door. "Take care, kid."
"Seto, don't go!" Mokuba cried out after him.
[Flashback ends]
"You broke up my family, Yugi." thought Mokuba. "And now, I'm gonna break you up."
"My first card is the Man-Eating Plant!"
Appearing on his side of the field, a purple petal plant-like monster.
"Now, it's my turn." said Yugi as he whips out a card. "I'll counter your attack with the Winged Dragon, Guardian of the Fortress!"
The Winged Dragon appeared, ready to fire. "Ha! Bad choice, Yugi." said Mokuba. "My Man-Eating plant will eat your dragon alive. So now, you're finally gonna pay for what you did, Yugi, and your stupid dragon's gonna be plant food."
"His dragon isn't stupid, you little punk!" shouted Paige, balling her fists as the others looked at her.
"Alright…calm down." said Tristan.
"Don't need to let your inner dragon come out." said Joey.
"I don't care. He needs to watch his mouth." said Paige.
"Man-Eating Plant…attack!" shouted Mokuba.
"Fireball Attack!" shouted Yugi and the Winged Dragon fires a huge fireball at the plant.
Mokuba: 1,400
"Huh? My monster lost?" he asked.
"You can't win a duel with cards that don't rightfully belong to you." said Yugi. "How can your heart ever live-in cards that belong to someone else?"
"Be quiet. I don't believe in that 'heart of the cards' stuff you keep preachin' about." said Mokuba. "Cards have nothing to do with heart. It's all about power."
"Yes, I can see it now." said Yugi, using the eye of the Millenium Puzzle. "I sensed a connection to Kaiba. You're his brother! You're Mokuba!"
"How did you know?" Mokuba asked as he pulls down the bandana. "Well, it doesn't matter."
"Look! said Joey.
"It is Kaiba's little brother!" said Tea.
"That's right. Seto Kaiba is my brother, and he's the best duelist that there ever was." said Mokuba as he takes off the hat. "But now, thanks to Yugi, he's gone, and Pegasus is trying to take over KaibaCorp."
"Pegasus wants KaibaCorp?" asked Yugi.
"I don't know what you did to my big brother when you dueled, Yugi, but ever since that defeat, he hasn't been the same." Mokuba explained. "He ran away because of you, and with him gone, Pegasus moved right in. Some KaibaCorp executives invited him to some kind of secret board meeting."
[Flashback]
"Now, gentlemen, let's see if I understand your proposition." said Pegasus as he sits at a table with the KaibaCorp board. "Seto Kaiba has abandoned his corporate station, and now you five wish to seize control of KaibaCorp. You then want to merge with my company, and you'd like me to handle any messy details, yes?"
"Precisely, Mr. Pegasus." said the board, not knowing at the moment that Mokuba had opened the door. "With our money and your leadership, we will easily take control of KaibaCorp."
"Do tell."
"For our plan to succeed, Kaiba must be taken out of the picture…permanently." said one executive.
"However, there is one catch. As per the corporate bylaws, only a Kaiba family member can legally control KaibaCorp." said another executive.
"Hmm." said Pegasus, bowing his head.
"To that end, Pegasus, we recommend kidnapping Kaiba's brother Mokuba. In name, he will control KaibaCorp, but we will control him." said a third executive.
"Do these things for us and we will lay all of KaibaCorp's technology at your feet." said a fourth executive.
"Agreed. The elder Kaiba shall meet with an accident, and the younger Kaiba will be captured." said Pegasus.
"Excellent." they said. "But we have one final condition. The brat who beat Kaiba has tarnished KaibaCorp's good name, and we must insist that you restore it."
"Well, how fortuitous." Pegasus said smugly. "Plans for me to duel Yugi are already under way. Now, to show you that I truly am the man for the job…"
Mokuba backs away from the door when he suddenly backs into one of Pegasus' men, who then grabs him. "Kemo, bring me young Kaiba, would you?" he asked.
"Nooo!" screamed Mokuba as Kemo brings him in, struggling against his grasp. "Let me go, you creeps. I heard everything, and when I tell my big brother, you're gonna…"
"You see, gentlemen?" Pegasus asked over Mokuba's ranting. "This is how efficiently you can expect me to handle out business. Young Kaiba is captured, Yugi will be defeated, and Seto Kaiba will bother us no more."
[Flashback ends]
"It's all your fault!" said Mokuba. "Seto deserted me 'cause of you."
"You don't understand." said Yugi. "Mokuba, your brother hasn't deserted you. He's searching for himself."
"Liar!" shouted Mokuba, not listening to him. "Tell it to my monster! Go, Crocodilus!"
A crocodile monster had appeared on the field and followed Mokuba's order. Winged Dragon fired another fireball, destroying Crocodilus. Mokuba's life points had dropped 300 points. "Battling me won't bring your brother back, and we want to stop Pegasus as much as you do." explained Yugi. "He's taken mine and Paige's grandfather prisoner."
"My brother speaks the truth." said Paige.
"That's right!" said Joey. "Pegasus is the bad guy here. Can't you see that you crazy little kid?"
"You're wrong." said Mokuba. "I have to protect my brother's company, and Yugi's the one Pegasus has to beat in order to take it over."
"Wait, I get it." said Tea, understanding what Mokuba was doing. "Mokuba is trying to save his brother's company by defeating Yugi in a duel so Pegasus doesn't get to face Yugi at all!"
"What do you mean?" asked Tristan.
"What do you mean, 'what do I mean'?" asked Joey.
"I wasn't talking to you." Tristan said to Joey.
"(Chuckles) Sorry, what'd you mean, Tea?" Joey asked her, causing both her and Paige to sigh.
"If Mokuba can keep Pegasus from beating Yugi, then he won't be able to take over Kaiba's company." Tea explained.
"Ah, that must be it!" said Yugi. He then looks up and sees that Mokuba disappeared from the other side of the stadium. "Huh? Where'd he go?"
"Hey!" shouted Paige, causing him to look down behind him.
"If I can't beat you…" said Mokuba, grabbing Yugi's star chips. "I'll have you disqualified."
"My star chips!" Yugi exclaimed as Mokuba jumps down.
"Hold up, you little punk!" shouted Tristan as they go after him.
"Give them back to my brother!" shouted Paige.
"Mokuba! Listen to me!" bellowed Yugi. "You'll never save Kaiba Corporation that way!"
Mokuba stops in his tracks and looks over his shoulder. "Huh?"
"Your big brother is just confused." said Yugi. "After I defeated Kaiba in our duel, I opened his mind. I removed from him all the dark influences that clouded his thoughts and actions. Free of that evil essence, Kaiba is struggling. Now your brother realizes that his way wasn't the right way, and he's searching his heart for answers, and you know in your heart what you're doing isn't the right way either."
"But then…" Mokuba said with a somber look. "What can I do?"
"You can start by trusting in me, and together we will defeat Pegasus." He replied, but Mokuba wasn't so sure. "I promise you; we can only bring Pegasus down if we stick together. We'll help you protect your brother, Mokuba, but you've got to help us, ok? You've got to go back and return those cards and star chips to the kid you stole them from."
"You're right, Yugi." said Mokuba, guiltily. "Then we'll take on Pegasus together!"
"We've only got three minutes left till the boat leaves." said Tea.
"Let's get going, Mokuba." said Yugi.
"Let's do it."
"Ah, it's no use." thought Kaiba as he sat behind a desk. "I've gone over it a dozen times in my mind, but I still can't figure it out. How was a kid who came out of nowhere able to defeat a champion like me? I've run computer simulations, probability scenarios, and quantum analysis of our duel but I still don't have the answer."
[Flashback]
"I had clearly been dominating the match. My Blue Eyes White Dragon ripped through his forces." He thought as he remembered the match between him and Yugi. "I was on the verge of winning, but Yugi wouldn't give up. Against all odds, and with absolute faith in his grandfather's deck, he somehow drew the one card that assured his victory."
"Exodia! It's not possible!" shouted Kaiba as Yugi brought forth Exodia.
"Exodia, Obliterate!" ordered Yugi.
[Flashback ends]
"I've always believed duel monsters was a game of sheer power, but Yugi claims that the cards have a heart." thought Kaiba. Outside, Pegasus' men were there. "It sounds crazy, I know. But could Yugi be right?" Kaiba asked himself as he worked on what was in front of him. "Is there really a heart of the cards that can affect the outcome of the duel? Is that how he won? The only way I'll know for sure is to face Yugi again, and these new portable holo generators will enable me to challenge him no matter where I find him. If I can just get to…"
Outside of the door, Pegasus' men interrupted him by banging on the door. "Seto Kaiba!" said a goon and continued to bang on the door. "We know you're in there! open the door or, we'll break it down!"
Placing the portable holo generators into the suitcase above his cards, the door opens as Kaiba closes the case. "Let's go, Kaiba." demanded the goon.
"On your feet." said his friend.
"Mr. Pegasus would like to have a few words with you."
"Heh. I bet he would." said Kaiba as he stood up from his desk. "But it will take more than you two goons to grab me."
"This can go easy, or we can snap you in two, wiseguy!" said the goon.
"You'll never take me alive." said Kaiba and kicks a chair towards them before jumping out the window.
"Get him!" shouted the goon as both of them ran towards the window and looked out. "He jumped."
"Nobody could survive a fall like that." said the other.
"Looks like he did our work for us."
"Yeah, that just leaves the rest of the job."
They then turn and see that Kaiba left a deck behind. "Pegasus was very clear. He wants the deck with the deadly Blue Eyes White Dragon." the goon finally said, looking at the card of Kaiba's deck.
Back at Duelist Kingdom, Yugi and the others hurried towards the dock. "Hurry, we're almost there!" shouted Tea.
"We're gonna just make it!" shouted Tristan when suddenly Yugi stops.
"I told you, I'm not gonna row, so quit bugging me!" shouted Weevil.
"The boat! It's already left!" Mokuba cried out.
"I knew I should've hit Weevil harder over the head." said Paige.
"And there's the sleazy lowlife that shipped 'em out." said Joey.
"You're too late. Those losers are on their way back home." said Kemo.
"Hey, that's not fair!" Tea exclaimed. "It hasn't been a half hour yet."
"Tough luck. Pegasus sets the schedule here." he tells her.
"That's it! I'm gonna give you a flat-top!" threatened Joey and Mokuba runs up to Kemo.
"You've gotta call the boat back. I've gotta return that kid's star chips to him." Mokuba explained.
Suddenly, Kemo knocks what Mokuba has in his hand. "The star chips!" yelled Yugi as the others gasped as the star chips go into the water.
"What gives?" asked Joey. "A bunch of those star chips belonged to Yugi, you big jerk."
"You didn't have the right to do that." said Paige.
"I am so sorry, Yugi." Mokuba said, apologetically.
"Ha! You losers should keep a tighter grip on your valuables, don't you think?" asked Kemo. "Then accidents like that wouldn't happen. Now…"
Kemo then walks up to Mokuba and grabs him around his neck, causing the others to gasp at what was happening. "Let's go, you. Back to the cage." he said. "This little ingrate is a special guest of Mr. Maximillion Pegasus, and he's been invited to attend a special dinner in his honor back at the castle. Right, Mokuba?"
"Yugi!" Mokuba gasped.
"Hold on!" said Yugi, causing Kemo to look at him. "I still have 3 of my star chips left. I challenge you to a duel, and if I win, Mokuba comes with us."
"Hmm." said Kemo with a smirk on his face. "I don't know why you'd risk your star chips for this punk, but if that's how you want to waste your last star chips, then meet me back at arena 146 in exactly 4 hours. You'll have your duel."
Back at the arena, Joey asked, "Well, we're here. Where's antenna-head?"
"Yugi, over here!" Mokuba shouted, struggling against Kemo's grip. "Get him off me!"
"Mokuba!" shouted Yugi. "Put him down now!"
"I'll consider it if you win the duel." said Kemo.
"Oh, I'll beat you all right." said Yugi.
"I never said I would duel." he said and points to Yugi's opponent. "There is your opponent."
"Huh?"
"Isn't that…?" asked Paige, trying to get a better look.
"He's an old friend who's dying to see you again." said Kemo. "He met with an unfortunate end earlier today, but he's come back just to duel you."
"What are you saying?!" screamed Mokuba as the others gasped.
"Kaiba?" Yugi asked in shock.
"Yes, Yugi." he said in a distorted voice, laughing. "It's me, Kaiba, and this time you don't stand…a ghost of a chance."
