Ch.71

Confirming that they were ready, Ron pulls the mask to cover half his face that was built into the suit and leads the way outside.

Outside chaos was beginning to spill as the Little Diablo's were beginning to corral and confine people to their homes amidst seemingly random acts of destruction and failure to immediately comply resulted in lethal counter measures.

"Aaaaahhh!" A scream was heard and by the time Ron looked over he saw a minivan explode as a Little Diablo grew to it's full height. Even as he looked, an arm belonging to a child landed at his feet.

"Someone help! My son! That thing stepped on his legs. Heeeelllp!" As Ron looked at the man trying to come to terms with reality another scream was heard.

Ron started moving before he had a chance to think. He reached the man holding onto his son and hysterically calling for help, noticing the boy was unresponsive. Ron wasn't sure if to be relieved that the kid wasn't in pain or sad that the worse came to pass till he placed his hand onto the kids neck and felt a pulse. Before the father could do anything at the appearance of a masked man, Ron was already channeling Ki and using the healing technique to help stop the bleeding. A tense minute later Ron stopped the technique and spoke.

"I've stopped the bleeding which should help for now but he needs to see a doctor. Given the situation I don't think it's safe to be out on the streets but I'll leave the decision to you." With that Ron stood and headed to the Possible's with Yori right behind him.

From the distance he was at Ron couldn't identify the Possible home and as he came closer he noticed why. The house looked like it exploded and two giant Little Diablo were still wreaking destruction.

Ron sped up as he accessed and channeled Ki throughout his body, eyes turning blue. Ron took out a couple shuriken and briefly infused them with Ki before throwing them with all the forced he could muster. By the time he let go Ron knew they would hit though he didn't know how effective they would be.

To both his and Yori's surprise, who was closely following Ron, Ron's shuriken hit with loud sound and knocked the Little Diablo into the other that was wreaking the Possible house, topplin the two. Ron and Yori were right behind the shuriken and targeted the limbs of the Little Diablo's. Ron chose to attack the hand that was aiming some sort of plasma cannon at them while Yori attacked the leg supporting most of the robot's weight. Both their weapons were infused with Ki of varying degrees of concentration.

The arm and leg were cleanly cut with the sound of metal hitting metal.

Using the once again falling robot as a stepping stool, Ron jumped onto the second one and drove his blade to its hilt into the robot. Ron felt a shock of energy traveling through the blade into him but didn't let go a the sword as he dragged the blade down its chest trying to cleave the machine in two. With some effort and a few more slashes Ron had the robot in parts, the torso cut in two and all the limbs cut off.

Turning to see if Yori needed assistance Ron noticed that her opponent was in a similar condition and moved to check on Ann and the kids.

"Ann! Jim! Tim! Kim! Is anyone there?" Ron called out into the debris.

There was a tense moment of silence before one of the twins called out. "Ron be careful of the Little Diablo's."

"They are taken care off for now. Are you guys okay?" Ron asked.

"We are okay Ron, we managed to make it to the basement before they grew to full size." Ann called out.

'That's good.' Ron thought before double checking. "Who else is down there?"

"It's just me and the twins." Ann called out, explaining. "Kim went to prom."

"Ann, I'm going to have to go. The last thing I heard from Wade was a shout for help and he is the best bet to stopping what's going on." Ron said before adding. "I'll take care of this, trust me."

"Ron get Kim, she'll help." Ann called out.

Ron said nothing and turned to Yori who was now joined by Akito and his three men unit.

"Akito I need you to go to the high school and check the situation there. The school is a designated emergency shelter and by now they should be aware of what's happening. Go and inform Kim of the situation her family is in, she'll take care of their safety." Ron commanded.

"Yes." Akito replied and turn to lead his team.

"Sae wait, I need you to keep guard over the Possible's here. Those to robots were keen on finding them and might be under orders. I need you to watch over the area and notify me if they send more." Ron explained.

"Yes." Sae says as Akito leads Makoto towards the school.

"Yori let's get to Wade's and figure out how to stop this." Ron said already running the shortest route to Wade's.

Wade dove under his desk just in time for the robot to reach full height and take the roof of his house with it.

"Wade are you okay?" His mom yelled in a panic.

"Mom you need to go to the panic room, I'll be there shortly." Wade called out hoping his mom bought his lie.

To Wade's dismay he heard a gun shot and wondered what was going on as his mom, holding a shotgun, stood in the doorway to his room.

To the astonished Wade, Gwen said. "Baby stay where you are, mommy will take care of this."

"Mom you should really go to the panic room." Wade yelled.

The Little Diablo was already swinging what seemed of like a saw at Gwen who stepped back into the hallway and fired again.

Wade wasn't surprised by the shotgun as his dad owned it but seeing his mom use it did surprise him. The sound of gunfire and destruction let Wade know his mom was still okay and he gathered his courage to head to the panic room. Just as he made it to his bedroom door he saw that half the stairs and his parents bedroom where scattered across the now visible lawn as the wall and half the house were missing. He also saw that his mom was mostly keeping the Diablo distracted as she fired the shotgun and it seemed to be charging the same weapon that destroyed half the house.

Wade was smart and what he could tell from the situation his mother was in was that she wasn't going to outrun what was basically a 360 degree turret with no cover, though his mother was trying. Wade wanted to close his eyes, he didn't want to see what would happen next but couldn't bring himself to look away. His mom had emptied the shotgun and decided to swing it like a club at the robot still not giving up.

By this point Wade's vision became blurred with tears and he had to blink them away. By the time his eyes refocused he had already heard the sound from the plasma cannon firing. Wade looked at the spot his mother last stood and saw nothing but a crater.

"Mom!" Wade couldn't hold back the yell that tore through his throat.

"I'm okay!" Gwen yelled and Wade looked to the left to find his mom in the arms of a blond man.

Before Wade could rejoice, the man let go of his mom and ran at the robot, a sword in hand.

Wade's sight followed the man and he vaguely felt he should know him. Just as the man reached the robot another masked figure appeared behind it and cut off one of its legs. Their synergy was perfect as the man used the robot's own falling momentum to nearly cut it in two. Then they proceeded to cut apart its limbs.

Wade couldn't help but stare as the blond man pulled down his mask revealing Ron. 'Since when can Ron move like that?' Wade wondered.

As Wade was staring, Ron came closer and spoke. "Wade please tell me you have a back up system and you can find the source of the signal."

"I don't have a back up system but I think I can have mine up on running in a few minutes." Wade explains after going back to his room and looking over his system.

Just as Wade said, it only took him a few minutes to have his system up and running again. Then another few minutes to track the signal to its source, Bueno Nacho. More specifically its signature taco sign now transformed into some transmitter.

As Ron started to think of a plan a call came in to Yori's phone with a report from Akito. The robots blocked access to the school and though they did get in they don't think alerting those inside of whats happening is a good idea as there might be spies mixed in.

After hearing this, Ron chose to follow Akito's advice while having him keep watch over the situation at the school, prioritizing shutting down the signal.

Soon it was decided that Ron and Yori would make their way to Bueno Nacho and take out the signal while Wade worked on a way to stop the signal that Drakken would launch at Bueno Nacho headquarters.

With Ron in the lead, Yori and Ron made their way to Bueno Nacho, occasionally cutting down a Little Diablo that was about to take someone's life.

Upon arriving at Bueno Nacho they notice that multiple robots had a perimeter around the building likely with orders to protect the signal transmitter. Looking at the robots actions a moment Ron decided the best course of action was for him to attract some of them so that Yori could sneak past the others and cut down the transmitter.

With their roles decided they went into action. Ron rushed the nearest robot and cut it's right leg off before making an attempt at the transmitter. As he expected the robots in the perimeter targeted him instantly and forced him away, the majority following after him.

'Just as planned.' Ron thought as he moved around them and slowly pulled them away from the transmitter.

Ron had the attention of four out of six robots when Yori made her move on the transmitter. It was a flawless attack, Yori cut the transmitter before any robot knew she was there and cut the legs of the nearest robot using the machine to crush the transmitter dish. Then within a couple of tense seconds the robots started regressing back into Little Diablos.

Ron and Yori quickly went to each other to check for injuries and after finding none started making their way back to Wade's. On their way Yori called Sae and received a report on the situation at the Possible's. Turns out Ron had been right and a few more Little Diablos were sent to apprehend the family after the first two had failed. Thankfully Sae managed to beat them and the signal was taken down before a bigger group was sent.

After a little thought Ron asked Sae to get Ann and the twins out of there and to the Stoppable household, the lab to be exact.

At Wade's, Ron explained the tactic they used to take down the signal and suggested for something that doesn't require such close distance on the next one.

"Don't worry Ron, I came up with just the thing." Wade says revealing a toy gun.

"Something that looks simple to use, good." Ron said and added. "Now where am I supposed to aim it and what's it supposed to do?"

"It's an electro magnetic scrambler, aim it at the source of the signal and it will spread to all and shut them down. There is a chance of an overload so do be careful." Wade explained.

"Yori I think it's safer in your hands." Ron said passing their ace in the hole over.

Yori smiled and took the device.

"Now Wade, I think you guys better evacuate to my house. The lab can serve as a temporary control center and it should be safer than your average panic room. Plus if you're willing we can escort you there since that's where we are heading next."

"I understand Ron, we'll go to your place but why are you heading there?" Wade asked.

"Got to pick up Rufus and since this is such an extreme scenario, I'm also bringing the Neuro Linker. It might provide that extra push to see things through."

When everyone made it to Ron's house they found a furious Rufus guarding the house. How did they know he was furious you might ask, Rufus attacked them before checking if they were friends, bringing the group to the ground.

"Rufus-san it is us." Yori quickly tried to let him know.

"Yori? Ron?" Rufus asked.

"Yeah buddy it's us." Ron confirmed.

Yori would love to say she followed the conversation that happened next but Rufus was speaking too fast for her to understand anything. She did hear Ron's side of it and from that she could infer that Rufus did not appreciate being left behind in the emergency and had quite a few choice words to say about it. After Ron appeased him and explained that they needed his help for the hard part that was coming up Rufus seemed to calm down.

Now with Rufus standing on his shoulder Ron led Yori to the garage and entrance to the lab. Inside was Wade, his mother Gwen, Ann and the twins who were looking around.

Upon Ron's group entering, the room fell quiet but Ron didn't notice as he walked up to his Neuro Linker and equipped the device. Once he confirmed it was secured in place Ron turned it on.

The process was neigh instantaneous and Ron spoke aloud. "Wade I'm online, I need a route and ETA to my destination."

"Ron I can get you an ETA and route but I can't get you a ride. Most of the people are to far away for us to make it in time." Wade explained some bad news.

"I believe Akito-kun would not mind us borrowing his bike." Yori says.

"That's our ride Wade, Sae can you reunite with Akito and keep watch over the situation there?" Ron asks.

"Yes." Sae agrees and leaves to carry out her orders.

"Ron where is Kim?" Ann asks seeing a lull in conversation.

"Kim is still at the dance Ann." Ron says and explains how the school was quarantined by robots and how there might be enemies hiding among the attendees.

"Ron you have to help her, she is in danger and doesn't know what's going on." Ann pleaded.

"Relax Ann, I've already sent her support she will be as safe as can be given then circumstances." Ron assured.

"Thanks Ron." Ann said and walked away seemingly conflicted.

"Wade, I'm going wish us luck." Ron says as he and Yori board the elevator.
