A Holiday by Decree

Dearest Jon,

I laughed when I read your latest letter but not for any reason you could likely imagine. Of course, Sansa is welcome to stay at the holiday home and use anything at her disposal she likes while there. I agree deeply that she is another one who was likely badly in need of a rest…

However, that brings me to the reason why I laughed. I'm afraid that you and I think too similarly sometimes: I also sent Tyrion away (yes, he went kicking and screaming) to the holiday home around the same time, perhaps only shortly after you sent Sansa.

I sent word to the staff to let them know to do their best to keep them in separate rooms as much as possible. The place is fairly large? I'm not sure what good it will do. Surely, knowing the two people we sent there, they will think we planned the whole thing out and plotted against them to put them together.

Is it terrible that I am starting to think as I write this that I regret we can't honestly take credit for that though? What if, by some wild chance, sparks do fly between them, possibly meeting again, in a different time and under decidedly better circumstances?

From what we've told each other, they both seem incredibly world-weary. Would it be so bad for a little chance at happiness to be thrown into their paths?

It's probably all wishful thinking on my part. More likely than not, we'll be wishing they'll be willing to speak to us again at some point.

Time will tell. Stay warm in the North, though I have no doubt that you will.

Yours,

Dany
