A/N: Alrighty, it's time for another chapter of Injustice Syndicate! Okay, for the record, I am not giving up on Ed's flashback. I shall finish it. But next time. I'm gonna take a little break from it, and instead show you something a little bit different as a sort of intermission from the action. Believe me, it's gonna surprise you. Anyway, I hope that you all enjoy the chapter.

Disclaimer: I still don't own Ed, Edd n' Eddy, Marvel, or DC!

The Afterlife…

The afterlife has many names depending on who you ask and their religious beliefs. Most people know of it as the two realms known as Heaven and Hell, while others call them things like Olympus and Tartarus. But one thing that always remains the same about them is that the good souls go up and enjoy peace and happiness, while the evil souls are sent down below where they face eternal damnation in a world of fire and brimstone.

But right now, we find ourselves in neither of those afterlives.

Because there is a third realm.

A realm where souls are doomed to wander until they are brought peace.

Purgatory is its name.

Though, some people call it Limbo.

And unfortunately, it is there that we find the children of the cul-de-sac and their parents. All of them were in the same state they were when they were killed, with the exception of no longer being afflicted with Joker's new airborne toxin. Kevin, Nazz and Rolf sat on rocks surrounding one fire as they just stared into the fire as Kevin stoked the flames. They had tried to escape and get to the Judgment Realm many times in the past, but all of their attempts ended in complete failure.

"Starting to feel pretty hopeless, ain't it?" Kevin asked.

"My dad always told me about tough situations that he's been in during his time in the military, but I never thought I'd have to go through something like that." Nazz said as she stared into the flames. "Still, we may be dead, but at least we didn't suffer the same fate as the Kanker Sisters."

She was of course referring to how the Kanker Sisters, Lee, May and Marie, had made it to judgment and had been sentenced to eternal damnation. None of the former cul-de-sac kids or their parents can remember much of what happened, but what they do remember is the sound of tormented screams, and the smell of smoke and fire.

They may be unable to get to the true afterlife at the moment, but they do know that they don't want to go through whatever the heck the Kankers are going through right now.

"Rolf has faced many hardships in the old country, but this is something not even Rolf would wish upon his worst enemy!" the Son of a Shepherd said.

"Our situation is dire, but do not despair. One way or another we shall find a way out of this!" said Rolf's Great-Nanno, who had walked over from a different fire.

The three kids just nodded in response. Though, if they were being honest, they didn't have much hope after what happened. They were all slaughtered by the Joker in one of his crazed genocides that he calls a game, some of them dying in the most horrific ways, I mean, Sarah and Jimmy got literally blown to pieces for crying out loud! And they later found out that they had been infected by a new Joker Toxin that that psychotic clown had created which had symptoms similar to the chicken pox so they didn't even know they were infected until it was too late, so they were all going to die anyway!

Speaking of whom…

"Hey, guys? I haven't seen Eddy, Double Dee, or my brother since we got here." Sarah said, concern etched on her face.

"Come to think of it, Plank and I haven't seen Ed, Edd, or Eddy anywhere around here since the Joker attacked the cul-de-sac." Johnny said.

"Rolf, too, has noticed a lack of the mixed nuts Ed-Boys." Rolf added.

"Ohh, I hope they're okay…" Nazz said.

Kevin picked up a stick and began stoking the flames of their fires again. He wasn't too worried about the Eds.

"I'm pretty sure those dorks are still alive. Besides, Joker or not, those three are too stubborn to die. Still, even though we're all stuck in Limbo, we need to find out where the Eds are on Earth and where they're headed. I'm pretty sure they won't be going back to the cul-de-sac, or… what's left of it… or any place that's the home turf of a Justice League member." his grip on the stick tightened as he said, "Not after what they did after Joker was caught."

Nazz scowled and crossed her arms as she said, "Those Justice Losers would be the last people they'd go to. They're, like, such hypocrites!"

"Good one, Nazz!" exclaimed Kevin, drawing a smile from the girl. "Still, the Eds have gotta be getting desperate by this point. And people tend to run and hide when they become really desperate, right? So, who's the one person that any of the Eds trusts more than anyone in the world, besides each other?"

That got a moment of guilty silence from the rest of the deceased cul-de-sac kids. Now that they thought about it, it was so sad how they pretty much made it so that Ed, Edd and Eddy only had and could rely on each other for companionship.

But that's when Jimmy thought of something.

"Doesn't Eddy have a brother?" he asked.

"That little flathead wouldn't have the-" Kevin started to say before realization hit him like a ton of bricks. "THAT'S IT! They're going to Eddy's Brother's place! Jimmy, that was one sweet brainstorm ya had there!"

Jimmy couldn't help but blush at the praise.

At least until Kevin started to panic for some unknown reason.

"HOLD IT! Eddy's brother will go on a murder spree if he finds out somebody hurt his little brother! We're wasting time! We gotta find a way to get back down to Earth and find the Eds!" Kevin said as he ran about, gathering scrap parts and hastily putting together a bike to fit all of them, adults and all. "If Eddy's brother gets there before we get there, the Justice League will never get theirs!"

"What?" Nazz asked in confusion.

"Forget it! We gotta go!" Kevin said as he got everyone on the bike.

They all started pedaling on the cartoonishly long bicycle as they tried to find a way out of purgatory and back down to the Earth. A task that seems like it will be easier said than done.

***To Be Continued…***

Ending A/N: Yeah, that's the end of this chapter. It's a short one, just because I want to show everyone what the kids of the cul-de-sac had been enduring since their deaths in the first story. But now they, along with their parents, are trying to get back to earth to help the Eds. How will that go? Let's find out in the next chapter!
