Chapter One

Middle school graduation was coming up fast, considering she spent most of her final year fighting demons and other nightmares on the other side of the well. In the three months that remained of the year, she was able to right her grades back to their former glory.

"Oh, here's a table!" Yuka exclaimed as she dashed over to the booth in the corner, waving the other three girls over with excitement in her eyes. They followed suit, settling down at the table with their ordered food.

The WcDonalds they often went to after classes was unusually cramped with other students from their school. With the end of the school year approaching, they gathered in study groups of their own. Talk of studies and what might appear on their tests weren't the only things people around them chatted about. Plenty of talk about what high school everyone would be going to following their middle school graduation was also a very hot topic, by the sound of it.

Eri tore her gaze away from her notes and sighed. "You know, hearing everyone talk about it, I can't get it out of my head," she said. "Have you three figured out what school you want to apply to?"

"Yup!" Yuka exclaimed. "I've known since the first week of middle school, actually!"

"My mom's helping me pick between three different ones," Ayumi asked. "I can't make up my mind."

"I'm having the same issue," the brunette sighed. "I'm stuck deciding between two, and no one in my family is really helping," she said. "What about you, Kagome? Have you decided yet?"

Kagome looked away from her notes at catching the sound of her name. She was silent for a few seconds, shrugging after a little bit. "I've actually got no idea," she admitted. "I've been so busy getting back into the swing of things that I've been putting off thinking about it."

"You mean you haven't thought about it at all?" Yuka asked, and Kagome nodded.

"Kagome, there's so many schools out there," Ayumi said. "Don't you have at least one or two in mind?"

She shook her head again, taking a sip of her drink and turning back to her notes. "I'll get all of that figured out, but right now, I'm more focused with the present," she said.

The other three hummed in agreement, seeming to get at what she meant.

"Hey, where's that formula sheet we got yesterday?" Yuka asked as she searched through their scattered papers.

"Oh!" Ayumi scooted it across the table to her, "here you go!"

"Thanks!"

She left her meeting place with her friends so she could get on her way home so she could do a bit more studying on her own time. They'd met to share notes and make sure they all were up to date with what would be on the tests in the upcoming days. As she walked, she found her mind drifting back to the topic of their earlier conversation.

"Kagome, there's so many schools out there."

There really were! She actually hadn't put any thought into what she'd do once she finished middle school. Most of the other students had already decided, and they got to talking about it at any chance they could.

With a quiet sigh, Kagome rested her cheek in her palm, turning her gaze upwards to watch the sky as she walked. Man, she didn't expect the choice to be so hard, but when there were so many different options and choices, it was anything but easy.

"Huh… maybe I've just let myself get too out of it as I got back into place around here," she mumbled softly to herself, paying no attention to the figures around her. If she had, then she might've become aware of the situation at hand a lot sooner. "Now not only do I have to worry about the upcoming tests, but also this, too Ah… I should've been thinking about this when I was still fighting demons in the past…" she muttered to herself, her words scolding.

So wrapped up in her own musings and thoughts, she was taken by surprise when a hand curled around her upper arm, tugging her aggressively to the side. She was yanked through a formed crowd of people. She was shaken from her thoughts, stumbling a few paces towards the unfamiliar figure. Several screams echoed around the area, and Kagome realized she now stood in the middle of the street with a malicious aura hovering over her shoulder.

"Come on! One more step and this brat's dead!"

Kagome's expression fell flat.

Oh. Lovely.

She glanced over her shoulder at the figure- some villain she'd never seen nor heard of before in her life- and placed him as a common lowlife. Before she could do anything- or the figures amassed and watching on, for that matter, another figure came to join the fray,

"Urk-!" Her captor hit the ground hard when a figure dropped from the sky and landed directly on top of him, one foot firmly placed on his head. Kagome's expression lit up instantly, and she turned with a bright smile on her face as her gaze met familiar amber.

"Inuyasha!"

"Hey, Kagome," the silver-haired half-demon responded with a like smile on his face, as if he hadn't just knocked someone straight to the ground. By the look of it, he was out cold. Inuyasha straightened his spine and looked down at her. "How ya' been?" he asked. "Told ya' I'd come find you."

She beamed up at him with a smile that was nearly as bright and radiant as the sun. Without waiting, she leapt at him, curling her arms around his shoulders as she squeezed him to her tight. "I've been wondering when I'd see you again!" she exclaimed, brushing the crowd that had formed to the back of her mind- as well as everything else. "How is everyone?"

"Oh, they're all great," he said with a smirk. "A couple hundred years is nothing to a demon, after all."

Kagome felt warmth spread through her upon hearing those words. "I'm so glad…" She was. The demons she knew from the Feudal Era were all family to her, and she cherished each of them. She was so glad to know that they were all doing just fine. "So-!"

"Stupendous job, young man, but I'll be taking it over from here!"

A boisterous, friendly voice cut her off before she could finish what she was going to say, and, on cue, they both turned towards the source. Kagome found herself recognizing the figure in question from TV and just common gossip. At the same time, the crowd erupted.

"It's All Might!"

"No way!"

He waved to the crowd, allowing them to snap photos as they pleased, and Kagome arched a brow as he turned back to where she and Inuyasha remained. She glanced down, finally recalling the villain Inuyasha had just used as a landing spot. She nudged him and nodded at the person.

"Oh," Inuyasha said as he stepped away from what he stood on. "Sure, be my guest," he said. He turned back to Kagome and folded his arms across his chest. "You're heading home, right?" he asked, and she nodded.

"Yeah, but first-!" She turned back to All Might. Once he noticed her attention, he turned back towards her with his gleaming smile.

"Yes? What can I do for you, young miss?"

Kagome clasped her hands together, her own radiant smile on her face. "Could I get your autograph?" she asked, a faint dusting of pink on her cheeks when she felt Inuyasha watching her silently, an unreadable expression in place "My little brother is a big fan of yours, and he's graduating from elementary school soon so I figured it's make the perfect gift!"

"Ahahaha! Why, of course!" he exclaimed.

"Oh, thanks so much!"

She rummaged around in her bag for her notebook and a pen, handing it off to the large man. He handed both back to her once he was done, and she thanked him again as she cradled it to her chest.

"You done yet?" Inuyasha asked, arching a brow as he waited for the ravenette to join back up with him. She jumped and nodded, turning and heading over to where he stood waiting.

"Oh, yeah, sorry to make you wait," she said, slipping her things back into her bag. Inuyasha scoffed and shook his head.

"Whatever," he said. He turned his back to her, bending at the knees a bit and waiting for her to climb atop his back like she always did. She did so without missing a beat, resting her hands on his shoulders as he wrapped his arms around her legs to keep her braced against his back. "Let's get going!"

Without waiting, he took to the sky, leaping from rooftop to rooftop with her carried piggyback. Kagome closed her eyes and rested her cheek to his shoulder, feeling at ease being carried in such a way.

It was still so familiar, at least.

"No way! You actually met All Might?!"

When they got back to the shrine, she wasted no time in giving Souta the autograph from the famed hero.

"Woah, the coolest things happen to you all the time," he said, and she stifled a laugh.

She knew what he was getting at, but, from her point of view, it was hardly that. The things that she went through might've been cool, but they were far from fun. They were the worst kind of exciting, usually.

"So it's really that hard of a decision?" Inuyasha asked after spending the past half hour listening to her rambling on about the decision she had to make. She nodded slowly, resting her chin in her folded arms as she absentmindedly read over her notes.

"Yeah…" she said, her tone soft. She sighed. "It seems like everyone else has already figured out the school they want to try and get into, but with all the different options, I'm not sure what the right choice is," she admitted.

"Huh. That's actually one of the reasons why I came to see you now," he commented. The statement garnered her attention, and she picked her head up with a curious hum.

"What do you mean?"

Inuyasha turned to look at her, shrugging as he folded his arms. "Sesshoumaru wanted me to get your standing on this stuff, actually," he said, tilting his head to the side, his ears twitching a bit.

"How come?"

The only answer she got was a smile, and she pushed herself up onto her knees, a small pout on her face as she watched him.

Since when did he smile when Sesshoumaru was mentioned?

000

She was surprised, to say the least. She was certain the shock showed on her face, but she couldn't find it in her to care. The afternoon after she finished the last of her tests, she returned back to the shrine to discover Sesshoumaru there waiting for her.

The last time she spoke to any of them was when Inuyasha came for a visit, and he left later than night without ever giving her a proper explanation. Now here she was, seated across the stoic demon, absorbing the information he'd just offered her.

"A Letter of Recommendation?" she asked. "You want to write a Letter of Recommendation for me?"

"Yes."

His straightforward answer gave her all she needed for clarification, and she was silent as she let those words repeat through her mind.

"I'm not doing this out of familiarity to you," he said. "If you are thinking that, clear that from your mind this instant." Kagome was silent as she nodded, not even trying to argue against him. "Our history is extensive, yes, and I know far better than others just how capable you are." He knew just how excellent a figure she was. "I will write a Letter of Recommendation to any school you desire to attend."

"Thanks, Sesshoumaru, I really appreciate the gesture, but I don't even know what school I want to go to yet…" she said, her tone soft. "I-I've been looking into a few different ones, but I haven't made my mind up yet."

"I'll refrain from giving you my opinions on where you should go," he said, and she stifled a laugh. She knew he wanted her to attend an academy close by where he was so he could oversee her training much easier, but that would require her to move so far away from home, and she wasn't ready for that. Not yet. "When you've decided, you are to inform me," he demanded. "I'll see to that the rest is handled."

Kagome's smile softened as she nodded. No matter how much she denied, she wouldn't get out of this. He was set on doing it, no matter what she said or did. It was him being nice and looking out for her, in his own way. "Thank you, Sesshoumaru."

He shook his head and rose from his seat, a calm smile in place on his face. "You have no reason to thank me," he said as he made for the door. "As I've said, this is not a gesture of familiarity. You've already done more than enough to prove your capability. I know my efforts won't be wasted."

She remained seated as he left, allowing herself to dive deep in her thoughts once more.

000

She took as much time as she could to consider her options, ultimately settling on one that seemed too good to pass up.

U.A. High School.

It was one of the best of the best, and it was also located comfortably close to home for her liking. When she finally told Sesshoumaru her decision, he accepted it, if only a little bit put off that she decided on not relocating to be closer for his observation.

He had no complaints with her decision in the end. After all, she chose the one she felt best about, and he could easily take off to venture the trip to see her and check her progress whenever he pleased.

000

"Surprise!"

A vibrant head of auburn hair greeted her one early morning, escorted by the silver-haired half-brothers. Kagome's eyes lit up as she pulled the auburn haired kitsune into a tight hug, to which he gleefully returned, scooping her up and tugging her protectively against him as he nuzzled his nose into her inky locks.

She was so comforting, and he let the scent of the woman he claimed as his mother surround him. Being around her felt like home, and he was at ease.

Kagome laughed and gently urged him to place her back on her feet, glancing at the three who'd suddenly showed up without a word or warning. "What are you guys doing here?" she asked. "Not that you're not welcome or anything, it's just a big surprise."

"We have something for you, duh," Inuyasha said, and Kagome tilted her head to the side in innocent curiosity. Without waiting for her to ask, Shippo turned to pick up something hidden behind him. A second later, he held both hands out to her, and she let out a squeal.

In his hands were two, twin-tailed cats very similar to Sango's old companion, Kirara.

"Surprise!" Shippo exclaimed a second time.

Kagome gathered them both into her arms, cooing over them both. "What's the occasion?"

"Your letter was accepted," Sesshoumaru said, and her eyes lit up. "You'll be participating in the Recommendation Entrance Exam." He set a hand on his hip with a smirk. "You were going to be given them either way, but I figured now was the best time since I came to give you the good news."

"That's amazing!" Kagome exclaimed, excitement leaking from every pore. A second later, she looked back down at the demon cats she held, curiously looking at them.

"That one," Shippo said, motioning to the cream-colored one, "is fire element. The white one is ice."

Kagome nodded as she looked at them both. The cream-colored feline looked quite a bit like Kirara, but she also looked rather different from the other cat. Only one of her feet had a dusting of black, much like soot. Her right tail was that same shade of black all over, and as was her left ear. Her eyes were red with blue slit pupils.

The white-furred one was primarily the color of snow. Two, identical rings of blue swirled around the tips of her tails, a similar pattern going around the tips of her ears. She had a patch of light blue fur on her chest oddly shaped like a heart. Her eyes were a deep sapphire with white slit pupils.

"The fire element is one of Kiara's kittens," Inuyasha said, and Kagome nodded.

"Guess that's why she looks so familiar," she said, stifling a laugh.

Now, what to name them?

Auroua-chan: So to answer a few questions about Kagome;;

She does have her spiritual abilities, along with her Quirk. Her Quirk is linked to them and they can affect it (and vice versa), but they are technically different. So if Earserhead was to use his Quirk on her, it would only affect her Quirk, leaving her spiritual abilities unaffected.
Kagome will be in class 1-A. (Along with *someone* she knows from the Feudal Era~ The only hint you'll get is that it's not Inu or Sess.)
I'm a little stuck on how I want her hero costume to look. (Torn between something more traditional- such as traditional miko attire- or something completely opposite, or maybe a mix of the two.) Suggestions/feedback on this is more than welcome at this point!
(Other things that were asked will come up later or some point ahead in the story. Particularly about when/why her hair was dyed, how Kun-Loon was chosen to get Kagome, etc.)

There's quite a few things I'm excited for in the future with this story. (Such as Dabi's appearance, Eri's appearance, etc)

Anyway, that's it for now! Thank you all for reading, and I hope you all enjoyed! Hopefully I caught all the errors before posting, but if not sorry.

Please remember to Rewivew&Favorite&Follow, thank you!

Bye for now~
