The grip on her chin was painful, as she was forced to look up into angry, disappointed eyes.

"You do not question me. You do not scold me, and you most certainly do not give me orders." Came a gruff voice.

Aubrey tried not to let the tears she felt welling in her eyes, spill over. She stayed perfectly still, held eye contact and did not speak. She knew better.

It was when three quick knocks fell against the door and it opened that he let her go and she immediately composed herself.

It was her brother. She didn't know that he had seen her father pull her into her office by her arm just seconds before. She didn't know that he was there to interrupt whatever their father might do.

"There is a call for you, Aubrey. Front desk." He said, not looking away from their father who had dropped his hands and was staring at his son with a raised eyebrow.

"Excuse me." Aubrey said softly, keeping her eyes lowered, not looking at either of them as she hurried from her office.

Cameron looked after her before looking back to John. "Really Dad? At the office now?"

John straightened even more and squared his gaze with Cameron's. "Don't you start questioning me too." He growled.

"What did she even do?" Cameron asked closing the door, not backing down.

John chuckled and walked over to his desk, dropping down into his chair and grabbing a pen.

"That is none of your business."

"She is my sister. And I watched you drag her in here like some kind of criminal, with a lobby full of clients. I do believe it is my business."

John signed a piece of paper and flipped it over, moving onto the next one. "We are done here." He said and Cameron shook his head.

"This needs to stop. She doesn't deserve it, just like Mom didn't deserve it." He said and opened the door, walking out and slamming it before John had a chance to answer.

Outside the office, Cameron looked across the lobby to where Aubrey stood looking through a file. She looked up at him, an embarrassed expression on her face. As soon as she reached the phone and realized there was no one there waiting for her, she knew what Cameron had done.

"Its okay." He mouthed to her, with a kind smile and walked into his office, leaving the door open. She looked back down to her file, before sighing, snapping it closed and making her way to is office, walking in and closing the door.

"I can't believe you are already four months." Chloe gushed through the phone.

Beca smiled as she reached across her mixing board and fiddled with some controls. "Me either. Its going by so fast. My belly is getting huge. There is definitely two in there." She laughed, rubbing her hand over her growing belly.

"Oh my gosh I need to see it! When are you and Aubrey free?"

Beca leaned back in her chair. "Uhm, I'm not sure. She has been super busy at work, and I have been at the label everyday for the last two weeks."

"Oh yeah? Who's the artist?" Chloe asked, her voice playful.

Beca chuckled and leaned back in her chair. "You know I can't tell you that. Not until they have released the news that they're working on an album."

"Ugh! Fine. But as soon as they do, you better tell me! It is so cool that you get to work with all the people we covered in the Bellas. Like, dream come true!"

"When I can talk about it, you will be the first to know." Beca chuckled looking out the floor to ceiling windows, smiling at the setting sun.

"Well, I better get going, I have some more work to do and it's getting late, I don't want to keep Aubrey waiting up for me." She spoke.

"Nope, wouldn't want that." Chloe said and Beca picked up on a hint of tone in her voice.

"Alright, well, I love you and I will let you know when we are free. Maybe we can grab dinner or something."

"Sounds like a plan, I love you too. Bye, Becs."

"Bye, Chlo."

She hung up her phone and let out a breath. The sunset was beautiful. It was golden hour and her office was bathed in the yellow glow. She knew most people had already left for the day, and she probably should too. However, being alone in the large building, while it was quiet and no one expected anything from her, was her favorite time of the day. She could focus on her work at her own pace. No one was knocking on her door, she wasn't collaborating, as much as she loved it. And most of all, Aubrey left her alone. Her wife knew that Beca got her best work done at the office at night. And it was one of the few things she respected.

She finished up what she as working on, before packing up her laptop and shutting everything off. The hallways were dim as she made her way to the elevator. She was waiting for it to arrive when her phone started to ring. She answered it just as the doors opened.

"Hey love."

"Hey, when are you coming home?"

"I am on the elevator now." She said, a little breathless.

"Who are you with?" Aubrey asked.

Becas brow furrowed as she hit the button for the parking garage. "No one, everyone has already left for the day, why?"

"You sound out of breath."

"Well, I am carrying two babies and a heavy bag," She chuckled. "I'd be surprised if I didn't sound out of breath.

"Hm. Okay, well hurry home, I'm starving."

"On my way, I love you." She said, a little annoyed at Aubrey's tone.

"You too." Came a clipped reply and the phone went silent. She sighed, pocketing the phone and waiting to arrive at the garage.

Aubrey was sat at the kitchen counter, reading a file, a glass of wine next to her when she heard the garage door opening. She took another sip and stood, walking to the door and opening it, seeing Beca pulling in. She smiled and walked out as the car came to stop next to her own.

Becas door opened and she got out as Aubrey opened the passenger door and grabbed her bag.

"Thanks." Beca said as she walked around the front of the car and met her Wife.

"Of course." Aubrey replied, kissing her softly before turning and heading into the house. Beca followed after and once they were in, she looked to see Aubrey's paperwork on the counter.

"Working from home tonight?" She asked as she braced herself against the counter and took her shoes off, tossing them in the basket by the door.

"No choice. This case is kicking my ass." She said taking her seat at the counter and picking up her glass.

"What would you like for dinner?" Beca asked as she opened the fridge to see what they had to cook.

"Anything, I haven't eaten since breakfast." She said picking up a file and bringing her glass to her lips again.

Beca raised her eyebrows as she pulled ground beef from the fridge. "And you're drinking on an empty stomach?" She asked setting it down and grabbing a pot.

Aubrey looked up at her, her eyes hard and an eyebrow raised. Beca looked up at her, when she didn't answer her and immediately stopped what she was doing.

"Don't question me." She spoke. "I work my ass off every day, and if I want a glass of wine when I get home, I can have one. You are my Wife not my mother."

Beca nodded quickly. "I know. I know that, I'm sorry. I didn't mean anything by it." She said, her eyes dropping to the floor. Aubrey watched her for a second before finishing her glass, pouring another and standing up, taking her file and walking into the living room.

"Let me know when dinner is ready." She said and Beca glanced up, watching her go. She let out a breath and went to work on the spaghetti.

Beca set Aubrey's plate in front of her before taking her seat diagonal from her. Aubrey immediately started eating and Beca kept her hands in her lap, not wanting to make eye contact, but wanting to make amends.

"Bree, I'm really sorry for my comment. I truly didn't mean anything by it. Please, don't be angry with me?"

Aubrey took a breath through her nose as she picked up the glass of water Beca had set out for her. "I'm not angry." She said and looked at Beca. "Look at me." She said and Beca finally looked up at her.

"I accept your apology. I still ask that you don't question me. Ever." She said, her voice hard.

Beca nodded. "I understand. I won't."

Aubrey took another drink before picking up her fork. "Eat."

Beca slowly reached for her fork and began eating. Dinner was silent. No discussion about their days. No making plans for the coming weekend. Beca wanted to bring up Chloe wanting to get together, but didn't feel like this was the right time to mention talking to Chloe on the phone. She had already upset Aubrey once. Even if she claimed not to be angry, she was. Beca didn't feel like making the night worse.

Aubrey had done well to keep her temper in check. It had been weeks since the last time she had lost control and hit Beca. She still got upset, quite often. But Beca hadn't sported a black eye or any other bruise in a long time. She figured she had the babies to thank for that.

She was now five months pregnant. They were going to find out the genders of the babies. Now would start the shopping, and the nursery decorations. The baby shower and all that comes with it.

They hadn't seen Chloe. Something always stopped them and Beca knew that Chloe was starting to get suspicious. Thanksgiving was days away, and they would be hosting. Stacie and Chloe would be there. Aubrey's father, brother and sister-in-law would be there. And so would Becas father and step mother. They didn't know she was pregnant yet either. She hadn't been able to tell them. Between work, and weekly dinners with John that were no longer an occasion that could be missed for any reason, they hadn't been able to tell them.

"Are you ready for this?" Aubrey asked as she parked the car. Beca let out a breath and nodded with a soft smile. "I can't believe we are already finding out the genders."

"I know it seems like it was just yesterday we found out you were having twins."

Beca looked up at the building. "Well. Let's do this."

Beca was once again lying back on a table. The room was dark, except for the ultrasound machine. The gel on her belly was surprisingly warm and her hand was held tightly in Aubrey's as her wife sat next to her, her eyes on the screen, full of excitement.

"Okay," The Ultrasound tech smiled, "There is baby A, and it looks like…"

Beca held her breath. "Baby A is a boy."

Beca smiled and looked at Aubrey who seemed to let out a sigh of relief. A huge smile appearing on her face and she kissed Beca before looking back at the screen.

"And, Baby B,"

Beca bit her bottom lip, her hand squeezing Aubrey's tighter.

"Is a girl." She smiled pulling the wand a way and handing Beca a towel. She took it, dropping it on her stomach before turning and being enveloped in hug by her wife.

"A girl." Beca whispered, and tears she didn't know were brewing began to spill over. She didn't think she cared what the genders were, but it was apparent that she wanted a girl. And now, she had both.

"Can we please wait until thanksgiving to tell your dad?" Beca asked that night as they got into bed. "We are telling everyone else at that time, and my dad doesn't even know I am pregnant."

Aubrey sighed. "I don't know, he knows we had the appointment and he has already called twice. I didn't answer so that is not going to go over well." She said getting comfortable.

"Come on Bree. One thing. Can we have this one thing that is ours in this pregnancy?"

Aubrey looked at her. "The babies are ours." She said.

"I know, but you know what I mean. We haven't been able to really do anything we want to do when it comes to telling people."

"We told Chloe and Stacie." Aubrey pointed out.

Beca fell back against her pillows. "That's not what I mean."

Aubrey sat up. "Well, what do you mean, Beca? Just say it."

Beca looked up at her. Wondering if she really meant it. If she was really allowed to say what she was feeling.

"My dad doesn't even know." She said finally. "I am five months pregnant and he doesn't even know. We haven't seen him since before I got pregnant. We see your dad every week. It's not fair, Bree."

"You're Dad also travels a lot. How often has he been in the state the last five months?"

Beca looked down. "It doesn't matter. He is my dad and he is finding out after everyone else. That's going to make him feel bad."

"He is a grown man, Beca, I am sure he is going to be fine."

Beca stayed silent for a few seconds before nodding. "You're right." She said and brushed a kiss over Aubrey's cheek before rolling over and getting as comfortable as she could. "Goodnight."

Aubrey watched her, taking a breath. She knew that Beca was right, but how were they supposed to make her dad wait another five days, when he was well aware they found out that day?

She could feel the anger rising in her chest and her face became hot. It wasn't Beca's fault. She knew that. But why did she have to question everything? Why did she have to make these demands? It just made everything harder. Couldn't she see that just giving John these little things kept the peace?

She balled her fist in the sheets, glaring at Beca who had her back to her. She didn't see the anger in her Wife's eyes. She couldn't see how her neck was red, and it was flushing her cheeks. But she could feel it. She could feel the shift, she could feel Aubey's eyes on her and she tensed. Waiting.

Aubrey reached over and grabbed her arm, pulling her to lie on her back and Beca's eyes were wide as they landed on Aubrey's.

"Why do you have to make everything so goddamn difficult?" She growled.

"I-I didn't mean-"

"Yeah, you didn't mean too! You never mean too!" Aubrey yelled. "Yet you do. All the time."

Beca slowly sat up. "I'm sorry, we can tell him."

"Yeah now. Now that you've ruined it." Aubrey said and Beca shook her head.

"Ruined what?"

"My excitement, over the news. You ruined it. You have to make your stupid demands; you have to fight everything. How can I be excited to learn I'm having a son when you open your mouth about who we should tell and when?"

"I thought you didn't care what the gender was?" Beca asked, her tone suddenly accusatory. "you told me you hoped it was a girl. You said a boy would please your father, but you wanted a girl."

"I never said that." Aubrey said.

Beca sat up all the way. "Yes, you did." She spoke. "You-"She trailed off. "You know what? It doesn't matter." She shook her head.

She threw the blanket off of her legs and moved to get out of the bed but hand on her arm stopped her.

"Where are you going?"

"I need some space." She spoke.

"You need to lie back down; besides we aren't finished talking about this."

Beca turned to look at her. "I am." She said and moved to stand up, but barely hand her legs off the bed when a hand gripped her throat and she was slammed back down on the bed, Aubrey hovering over her.

"Bree," she said, her voice shaky as Aubrey's hand still held her by the throat.

"You listen to me. I am so sick of you, Beca. I can't stand you. I hate knowing that in a few months I will be tied to you forever by these damn babies. You bring nothing to my life but stress and misery. My father is constantly upset with me because of you. I have had it. You are going to listen, and listen well. You have no say anymore. In anything, do you understand me? I say who knows what about these babies and when. I will be telling my father…no. You know what? You will be telling him the genders. Tomorrow. And I don't want to hear a single fucking word about it."

Tears were flowing steadily down the sides of Becas face as she looked up into Aubrey's hate filled gaze.

"And after they are born, you will care for them. Day and night and I don't want to hear a single complaint."

"Bree, stop, why are you doing this?"

"I have held my temper for months now. I have done my best to keep my patience with you, but you keep pushing. You disrespect me, you disrespect my father. You come home late; you are failing as a wife." She yelled shoving her harder down into the bed before letting her neck go. Beca immediately rolled off the bed, landing on her knees as she began to choke. Aubrey's hand shoving against her windpipe hurt and she did her best to move away from the bed.

"Get out of here." Aubrey spat as Beca pulled her self to her feet. "Before I really lose my temper." She said and Beca hurried from the room.

She stopped at the top of the stairs, looking back at the bedroom door. Aubrey wasn't following her. She let out a sob, her hand falling from her throat to her belly. Then she carefully made her way down the stairs.

She looked at the couch, her eyes so full of tears that everything was blurred.

She couldn't stay. Not this time. She had to go. Somewhere, anywhere. She looked at the stairs and once she was sure Aubrey wasn't coming down them, she grabbed her keys, slipped some shoes on and went into the garage. She knew she had to be quick, so she didn't even open the garage until she was in the car and it was started and in reverse.

She was backing out as the door flew open and Aubrey appeared in the doorway. She was yelling but Beca couldn't hear her. She was crying, hard and it made her vision so blurry she had to wipe at her eyes to clear them. She was pulling out onto their street within seconds and speeding down the road.

Aubrey watched the car disappear down the street and felt fear mix with her anger. Where was she going? Who was going to tell?

She hurried back into the house, up the stairs and into the bedroom. She was heading for her phone to call Beca, but it was when Becas phone started ringing from the bed side table that she realized she left it.

"Fuck!" She yelled slamming her phone down on her bed and grabbing fistfuls of her hair.

Beca was still crying as she left their neighborhood and hit the gas. She didn't know where she was going, she just knew she needed to get as far from home as possible.

She had to continuously wipe at her eyes, as the tears wouldn't stop. It was when she reached up to clear them as she hit the gas harder, that she missed a stop sign. The other car had no time to stop, and hit her from the side, sending her careening down the street in a mess of sparks, and crunching metal. It rolled twice before hitting a tree in someone's yard and it finally came to a halt, on its top. The horn was blaring and it was smoking like a chimney as people began to spill out of their houses at the sound.

The car that hit her, had its front end completely smashed and the driver was knocked unconscious. Within minutes sirens were echoing around the area and people crowded around to see the young woman that was being extracted from the crumbled car. She was unconscious, covered in blood and bruises. People watched with wide eyes as she was loaded onto a gurney, her pregnant belly on full display as she was hooked up to machines and loaded into an ambulance.
