Ch 13 Ryuudou Temple
At first, Harry thought he was kidnapped when he awoke. That is until he spots his luggage in the corner of the room. The first thing he did was look outside the window was an open field and a wall going around for miles. "I-Is this the Japanese Outpost?" He asked,
He looks around at what he assumes to be his room. There was a paper door that opens to the closet with his clothes, his room doesn't have a traditional bed but a soft blanket, and a table low to the floor with mattings around it.
Suddenly his stomach growls, indicating he was hungry. "Fou, you-" Harry paused, seeing that the Beast wasn't in the futon bed. Then he noticed the small crack in the sliding door to his room, "Did he go outside?" He scampers over to the door, sliding it open to search for him.
Harry looked around the halls filled with wooden pillars and paper walls. Even the windows are supported by the wooden wall. This place was defiantly different from the Manor he was staying at.
The young Boy heard the strangely dressed people talking to the same dressed Staff members. He slowly hid behind a wooden pillar,
"I can't believe master has chosen a weak Brat to be the next master of Chaldea!" Harry saw a blonde teenage girl with red claws and red horns protruding from her head growl at her fellow Servant. "Don't you agree Assassin?"
A white-haired woman smiles, crossing her arms. "Not really, no. Both master and Lady Mashu deserve a Child," Huyan Zhuo stated, clearly all right with Harry being the Son of their master. "After what they went through in the past, it's nice that they have some downtime. Besides, doesn't he look a bit of master?"
Ibaraki scoffs, knowing that was the reason why the Assassin chose to side with Harry. "You're only saying that because you have a crush on master, Assassin." The Oni growls, placing her claws on her side.
One of the Chaldean Staff nodded, conversing with the Heroic Spirits. "Lady Berserker does have a point, Assassin."
"We all know you have a thing for director Fujimaru." A female Staff member commented.
The Berserker smirks, glaring up at one of the Hundred and Eight Outlaws members. "See, even the Humans here agree with me," Ibaraki commented,
"That's only on master, but not the young master." Huyan Zhou commented, looking at the Humans next to them. "You guys don't mind that master and Lady Mashu adopted the young master, right?"
"I mean I don't have a problem with it, but…" The male Staff looks at his colleague who was a part of the Mages Association.
The female Staff sighs, "Look, his kind caused so many problems for the Association. Even that Magic School thinks so too." She commented,
Harry gasps, hearing the word that they used. He covered his mouth, realizing he gasped loudly.
The Oni's eyes look to the side, noticing the little Brat hiding behind the wooden pillar. "Well shit, he was here all along!?" Ibaraki glares at Harry, slowly coming out of his hiding spot.
"I-I'm sorry for listening…" Harry apologizes to the group, holding tightly onto his white sweater.
Ibaraki growls, not liking eavesdroppers, however, Huyan patted her shoulders. "Ib-er Berserker, don't get too worked up over this." The Assassin stated, impressed that he was able to evade her detection.
"Lady Assassin is right, he's just a Child." The male Staff member said, returning to his work with his colleague. "They tend to get themselves into situations unintentionally."
Harry blinks, seeing Huyan winking at him before leaving. "Let's return to the dining room, I'm sure master is there." She said to the Berserker.
"Hai, hai," Ibaraki waved her claws, letting this slide after hearing what the others said.
Harry remains in the hall thinking about what he just heard. "Why does everyone don't like me?" He asked himself,
"Harry-dono!" Harry turns around, seeing Ushiwakamaru running towards him.
"M-I mean Midoriko," Harry turns to face the Rider Servant, he then notices a large man walking behind her barefooted. "G-Good morning," He greeted the two.
Ushiwaka smiles kindly at the young master, "A good morning to you, young master! You were asleep by the time we arrived at the Outpost." The Rider turns to her companion behind her. "Oh, this man here is my retainer."
"Hello, young master, I am Lancer but do call me Benkei." Musashibou Benkei or Hitachibo Kaison who spread the tales of Benkei and Ushiwakamaru throughout Japan introduced himself to Harry. "I don't mind using my True Name,"
Harry smiled softly, "I-It's nice to meet you, Mr. Benkei." He greeted the Lancer Servant, then his stomach began to growl,
Benkei looks down at Ushiwakamaru, smiling at her. "It seems the young master is hungry," The Lancer smiles,
The young Wizard nodded, looking up at the tall man. "Um, I'm a bit hungry, Mr. Benkei," Harry answered.
"Then we should head to the main dining room," Ushiwakamaru informed the young Wizard Boy. "By now I believe the Sabers and the Chiefs are finished with preparing breakfast," The Rider informed the young master.
Ushiwaka grabs Harry's hands, taking him to where everyone was gathered. "This way, Harry-dono, everyone is gathering in the dining room for breakfast!" The loyal Servant smiles as her Retainer follows behind.
Harry could only watch as Ushiwakamaru dragged him to the other side of the Estate. This has given him the chance to truly look around the Outpost.
He'd seen those large traditional Japanese homes back studying with Professor M. On his left was a small zen garden with a small pond filled with small Koi fish.
Looking some more, he noticed that there were few terminals in the halls, unlike the ones in the British Branch which was in every corner.
The three arrived at the other end of the Estate, Harry could hear the chatter and laughter from the other side of the paper doors. "Harry-dono, this is the dining room. It's a lively room filled with cheer and laughter," Ushiwakamaru explains to the young master.
"But it can get a bit hectic and unpredictable when sake is involved," Benkei commented, giving a bit of foresight to the young Wizard on what to expect in this room.
"Lancer! That's enough," Ushiwakamaru scolded her retainer, placing Harry beside her. "We don't want to scare the young master!"
Benkei chuckled, holding out his hands at the Rider. "I'm just giving some foresight to Harry-sama on what to expect when he's entering the dining room." The Monk explained to his fellow Servant.
Harry switches his head between the two, unsure of what to make of this situation. "Um-EEP!" Harry squeaked, feeling a sudden chill of wind behind him.
"Harry-dono, this way." A black-haired Kunoichi appeared, kneeling on her knees. "Your parents are inside with everyone," Danzo informed the young master.
"Um…who are you?" Harry had never seen this person before, however, he could tell she was around.
Danzo inclined her head to the black-haired boy. "I go by Assassin, I'll be serving you as your Bodyguard, young master." The Assassin informed the young master which was surprised by the name.
"A-Assassin?" Harry felt a hand on his head, causing him to look up.
Benkei smiles down at him, ruffling his hair. "Worry not, Harry-sama. Assassin is just a name most used by the other Servants," The Lancer explained. "It doesn't mean she goes off killing people all willy-nilly."
Danzo confirms what the Monk was saying. "Indeed, I only take orders from your Father, Harry-dono." The Puppet looks at the young master. "Speaking of your Parents, let's go meet them." The Assassin encourages the young Wizard.
Harry nodded, watching Ushiwakamaru open the sliding doors, revealing a lively dining room.
The scene was familiar to the dining room in the British Outpost, it was filled with many strangely dressed people and the Staff enjoying breakfast on the table.
"Over here, Harry-dono." Ushiwakamaru motions her hand to him,
Harry's eyes gazed over to the Rider, finally noticing his Father and Mother sitting at the front of the room. They sat at a table set up vertically unlike the ones going horizontally, there were seats for Ritsuka, Mashu, himself, and another woman in a white coat.
Ritsuka finished his morning tea before noticing Harry standing with three of his Servants. "Good morning, Bud." The Magus greeted his Son.
Mashu smiles at Harry, waving at him after talking to the woman next to her.
Harry smiles at his parents, he turns around to the three.
Danzo, Ushiwakamaru, and Benkei nodded, motioning for him to join his Parents.
Harry rushes over to the table, being careful not to trip over the people and Servants sitting on the floor. When he got there, he noticed that Fou was sitting eating his meal at the end of the table, "Oh, there you are Fou." He smiled at the sight of the Beast.
Fou looks up, "Fou, Fou!" The Beast greeted the young master.
They watched Harry stopping in front of their master and Mashu, observing their interactions.
"Morning Daddy, Miss Mashu!" Harry smiles at the two.
"Good morning, Harry-kun. How was your sleep last night?" Mashu asked her Son standing before the table.
"I-It was good, Miss Mashu. The blanket on the floor was softer than my bed in Britain." Harry answered his Mother's question.
Mashu giggled, raising her hand. "It's called a futon, Harry-kun." She informed her Son kindly.
Harry nodded, taking the miniature lesson to heart. He then noticed the brunette woman staring at him, her stare was like a predator and its prey.
Mashu noticed the silent interaction with the Elemental, she cleared her throat and introduced their old friend to Harry. "Harry-kun, this here is Hinako Akuta. She's the Branch director here in Japan and she's also your Aunt." She nudges her elbow to the Assassin to say something.
"(I know, I know,)" Hinako hissed, she was one who never had proper interactions with Children before. Mainly because she spends her time doing her work as the director and her dislike for Humans. "(Just give me a moment, Mashu.)"
The former Crypter looks at Harry, seeing how similar he is to Ritsuka. "A-Ahem, hello there little one." Hinako greeted the young Child.
"H-Hello, Miss…" Harry shyly greeted back his Aunt.
Hinako cleared her throat, "H-How's your stay in the Estate? I know being in another Country is a bit difficult." The Elemental commented, attempting a conversation with her first Nephew.
"I-I'm doing good, Mi-I mean Auntie Hinako." Harry blushed, feeling a bit uncomfortable when standing before the table with everyone watching behind him.
Ritsuka smiles, patting the pillow next to him. "Hars, why don't you sit? Breakfast is being served now," He said to him.
The young boy smiled before going around the table and sitting next to his Father.
Ritsuka cleared his throat, gaining everyone's attention in the room. "Everyone, please welcome my Son, Harry. He'll be around the Outpost, so treat him as you would to me." He introduced his Son to the Servants and Staff gathered in the room.
"Hai!"
Harry looks around, seeing that someone came over and placed a bowl of rice with fried fish. The person then handed him a pair of chopsticks and some utensils if he was having a difficult time using the chopsticks.
"Thank you," Harry thanked the server who just inclined his head before taking the utensils and starting to eat the food. His eyes widen at the taste and continue eating.
"Harry," Harry looks up at his Father, hearing his name being called.
"Yes, Daddy?" Harry asked the black-haired Magus next to him.
Ritsuka looks down at his Son, "We'll be going somewhere today for my work," he explains to Harry, "The place we're going is Ryuudou Temple."
Harry tilts his head, "Am I going to stay here while you all go there?" He asked his Father,
The Magus chuckles, petting his Son's head. "No, you're coming with us, Bud. It'll be a good learning experience for you there," Ritsuka smiles,
Harry was excited, he had never been to a Temple before. He pictured it as some kind of Church where people go to pray.
After they finished their breakfast, they immediately went to the gates where two cars were present.
Harry looks around him, seeing that they were traveling in a large group. Li Shuwen, Sanzang, Ushiwakamaru, Auntie Hinako, Danzo, Tamamo-no-Mae, and Muramasa.
"Okay, I believe that's everyone," Ritsuka said, looking at the roster of Servants accompanying them to the Temple.
"Yes, Ritsuka. I believe we've gotten everyone for this trip." Mashu looks at the Chaldean Staff, loading some machines into the back.
Muramasa approached his master, leaning towards him. "Kid, are you sure bringing the young one to check the Leyline Network is a great idea?" The Pseudo-Servant asked, looking at Harry talking to Sanzang and Ushiwakamaru. "I heard from Huyan that he flinched when they mentioned that Wizard School in the hallway."
"From what I assume, you two didn't tell him what Chaldea does." The Saber said,
Ritsuka smiles, looking at the former Apostle of the Alien God. "I know, but it's a bit too early to tell him." The last master of Humanity stated, "I want him to get more comfortable with our job first. That's why we're bringing Harry with us,"
Muramasa nodded, understanding what his master was doing. "I see, you're slowly introducing him to it little by little." The Saber comment.
"The Wizards will come for him; I want him to be prepared for it by teaching him first about our so-called Magic." Ritsuka smiles before looking at Mashu and Hinako.
"Ritsuka, we're ready to go," Hinako informed the Magus, their Staff already went inside the car leaving them the only ones outside.
"Right, let's get going," Ritsuka said as everyone heard him.
Mashu looks at Harry, "Harry-kun, we're leaving now." She called her Son over to them, watching him running towards them.
The group got inside the cars and proceeded to drive towards a dense forest in the mountains.
Harry looks out the window, passing a Gas Station just a few minutes ago. "Harry-kun," The young boy looks at Mashu, "When we get to Ryuudou Temple, you have to stay with Midoriko-san and Caster-san. There are a lot of gangs near that area,"
"Gangs? I thought it was a Temple?" Harry asked his Mother, curious about why bad people were hanging around a place of worship.
"Ryuudou Temple has been abandoned for many years, the reasons are unknown but it's the ideal place for…gangs to do suspicious things there," Hinako explains to the next director of Chaldea. "It's our job to make sure those people don't use the area for their purposes." The Elemental explains to the young Child.
"Oh, so like the police!" Harry exclaims, understanding their purpose in coming to the Temple.
Ritsuka chuckles at the front seat, looking back at the three. "You can say that Hars," He said, seeing the happy face Harry made when he said that.
"Master, we'll be there in five minutes." Li Shuwen informed his master, turning to the left.
The cars soon arrived at Ryuudou Temple where a few Chaldean Staff were already there.
Ritsuka got out of the car first, approaching the Staff to receive their reports.
The others soon exited the cars, standing behind the master of Chaldea. Harry looked up, seeing a stairwell leading up to the top where an old gate was standing.
"Is this the temple?" Harry asked, looking at the adults around him.
"Yes, this here is Ryuudou Temple. Once a busy temple filled with people going up to pray but now abandon due to…some unfortunate circumstances." Hinako cleared her throat, looking at the Chaldean Staff from the other car. "Okay, send the equipment to the restricted area,"
"Hai!" The Chaldean Staff quickly went to work, taking the machines from the back of the car.
Harry watched them as they unloaded the car and heads over to the side of the brick path. "Where are they going?"
"They're going to a restricted area," Danzo informed the young master. "It's best not to pay any mind to them right now," She gently patted Harry's head.
Sanzang smiles, finishing scoping the area for any Rogue Mages in the area. "Okay, since they are busy unloading the car, how about we scout a bit?" She walks up to Harry. "Do you want to come Harry?"
Tamamo frowns, crossing her arms. "Is it wise to bring the Child to your scouting mission?" The Fox Spirit commented, "I mean this place hasn't been visited for years."
"Caster's right, you three can do the scouting without the kid," Muramasa stated, being the one who is most familiar with the layout of the Temple. "Besides, weren't you supposed to watch him?" He asked the Monk.
Sanzang playful bonks her head, "Oh right, I forgot." She smiles before coming up with an idea. "Oh, why not come with us, Harry? Kids at your age explore everyone new place they visit," The Caster offers.
"Is it wise to bring Harry-dono with us, Caster-dono?" Danzo asked, skeptical about bringing him with them to scout the area of the Temple.
Mashu overheard their conversation, stepping in to tell them something. "As long as one of you keeps a close eye on him, then it'll be fine." The former Demi-Servant smiles, wanting her Son to explore many things.
Harry smiles, looking at the Servants receiving permission from his Mother. "Then let's go, stay close Harry," Ushiwaka said, walking to the other side of the brick road.
"Okay," Harry responded, following the Servants into the forest.
