Chapter 2 is here! Just remember this is an AU so characters are out of character. This chapter is mostly about setting up a Shinsou and Bakugou friendship, I'm planning on making them BFF because they are both amazing. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the chapter.

Chapter 2

Bakugou woke up late the next morning, which was quite unusual for him as he was usually up with the sun and going for a run. The day before must've taken more out of him then he realised. He rolled over, taking in the sight of his new bedroom. He thought he might have trouble sleeping while he got used to his new space, but his usual tiredness had won out. He always slept a lot; he couldn't help it. He liked going to bed early and after years of doing it, his body was too acclimatised to try to change now. He burrowed in deeper, deciding to forgo his run for this morning, giving himself the day to get settled in before classes started tomorrow.

After another hour of lying in bed he decided it was time to get up, he did still have things he wanted to get done today. He gathered his things and went down the hall for a quick shower, relieved to find the place empty, his cheeks pinking at the idea of having to shower with someone else right next to him. He knew he'd get used to it eventually but at the moment it seemed like a lot. Thankfully the shower was hot and steamy, and he was able to push aside any concerns he had about communal showers and just enjoy as the heat relaxed his stiff muscles. He quickly dried off and changed, chucking his towel in a large hamper before heading to the lifts.

The communal area was busy, which he expected on everyone's first full day on campus. Midoriya seemed to be holding court in the lounge room, his friends, who Bakugou had met last night, as well as a large contingent of other students sitting around him, seemingly hanging on every word he said.

Bakugou snorted and with a roll of his eyes made his way to the kitchen to fix himself some breakfast. He found the purple haired teen from the day before already inside, chopping up an apple. Bakugou struggled for a moment to remember his name, the other teen had been quiet and hadn't contributed much to the conversation. Shinsou, his brain eventually supplied.

Bakugou grunted a good morning, noticing how tired the other teen looked. He had dark circles under his eyes and his lids were hooded. Bakugou thought perhaps he was having a hard time being away from home, though he's still not sure what possessed him to open his mouth.

"Feel like going for a walk around campus this morning?" Bakugou asked, purposefully not looking at the other teen so he wouldn't see his reaction. After a few moments when no response was forthcoming, he glanced up to find Shinsou staring at him in surprise.

"Sure" the purple haired teen murmured and Bakugou nodded decidedly, amazed that he had made plans with a possible friend, and he hadn't even sworn once! Picking up his breakfast he went to sit at the dining table to eat.

He got a few waves from some people gathered around Midoriya, but he kept well clear of the group, they had far too much energy for this early in the morning. He wasn't a very big fan of lots of talking and noise and did his best to avoid it when he could. Somebody dropped into the seat next to him and he looked over to find Shinsou beside him, eyes closed as he ate the fruit, he had been cutting up earlier. Bakugou had to hold back a snort at that, the quiet companionship was nice though.

Eventually he finished his breakfast and took his bowl back into the kitchen to wash up. When he was done, he wandered back out to find Shinsou seemingly asleep at the table.

He reached out and gripped his shoulder, giving a firm shake as he asked, "you coming, or what?"

Shinsou's eyes blinked open tiredly, but he managed a small smile. He popped the last piece of apple into his mouth, chewing and swallowing before he answered.

"Just try to stop me" the purple haired teen joked and Bakugou let out a small laugh.

They walked out of their dorms and Bakugou purposefully kept his eyes away from the large group, not wanting anyone to question where they were going and asking if they could come along. He shuddered at his own antisocial thoughts but there was no point pretending, at least to himself, that he wasn't in the mood for a large boisterous crowd.

Shinsou, it turned out was pretty good company. He was quiet but had a quick wit and his tired eyes took in everything around him with a startlingly intensity. They explored the whole grounds, taking in the classrooms and the library, the running track and gym as well as the food hall. Bakugou was not impressed with the food selections for the premade food. He knew he would be making most of his own food, he loved to cook, and it was important to him to eat healthy.

"Won't be eating this fucking shit often" Bakugou said with a disdainful look around at the food on offer as they chose something for their lunch.

Shinsou just shrugged, "looks pretty good to me."

Bakugou scowled "just wait till you try my cooking if you think this shit looks good, it will blow your mind."

"Well, if you're offering, I will definitely take you up on that" Shinsou said with a small smirk and Bakugou spluttered.

"Of course, I was offering! Wouldn't have said it otherwise."

Shinsou looked momentarily surprised, before nodding slowly.

"What kind of foods do you like?" Bakugou asked, his cheeks flushing a soft pink. He fought the urge to chew on his thumb nail, he hoped Shinsou didn't think he was being to forward, he enjoyed cooking and didn't mind making extras for a possible new friend.

"Oh, I'll eat pretty much anything. But you really don't have to go to any trouble."

"Tch" Bakugou said already mentally planning what meals he could prepare.

They spoke about their families as they kept walking, Bakugou spoke affectionately about his father before complaining for 10 solid minutes about his hag of a mother, though Shinsou could tell from the fond look in his eye that he cared about her.

"I was adopted last year" Shinsou said, his shoulders tensing up as he spoke. "My adoptive father actually works here."

Bakugou hesitated, glancing at the stiff shoulders and clenched jaw of his new friend.

"Wow, you've got a pro hero for a father!" Bakugou said excitedly, deciding to entirely skip the fact Shinsou was adopted for the moment. He knew it was the right choice when Shinsou visibly relaxed beside him.

"He's alright" Shinsou said with a grin. "He's been training with me a lot as I have a purely mental quirk, I need to make sure I'm strong and fast."

Bakugou nodded enthusiastically eyes lighting up passionately. "That's fucking great! I'd be happy to train with you as well sometime, if you like? I don't want to just rely on my quirk to succeed, to be number 1 I need to be the best at everything!"

Shinsou blinked slowly, "OK."

Bakugou grinned and Shinsou felt a shiver run down his spine, wondering just what he'd agreed to.

After they checked out the training rooms, both imagining the battles that would take place there over the next three years, they decided to head back to the dorms.

Unfortunately, the room was just as crowded and noisy as earlier. They both hesitated for a moment before walking in.

"Bakugou! Shinsou!" A voice called out and they looked over to find the pink girl, Ashido, from yesterday waving them over.

Bakugou had to fight back a laugh as he heard Shinsou groan quietly beside him, before they slowly made their way over. It seemed like most of the class was now crowded in the room and Bakugou blushed softly at the scrutiny of every eye upon him. Ashido grabbed his wrist and pulled him unceremoniously onto the ground beside her, Shinsou dropping down on his other side.

"Where have you been?" She asked. "We've all been having some class bonding time."

Bakugou just shrugged, glancing at Shinsou who answered for him.

"We just went for a walk around campus. Found out where the food hall, library, gym, training rooms, you know all the good stuff, are."

She looked momentarily surprised, "that's actually a great idea."

"I've been known to have them occasionally" Bakugou said with a laugh. He turned away, realising that everyone had been listening in on their conversation.

"Introduce yourselves!" Ashido cried and Bakugou had to fight not to roll his eyes.

"Bakugou Katsuki" he said shortly, glancing around the room.

"Shinsou Hitoshi."

Everyone went around the room and introduced themselves though Bakugou was sure they had already done it while they were gone. He did his best to remember everyone's names but didn't hold out much hope. Bakugou paid much closer attention when people started talking about their quirks. He wished he could take notes so he could start planning how he was going to beat them all!

Bakugou didn't notice how the room tensed and went quiet when Shinsou explained his quirk, honestly, he was just too damn excited!

"What? Like a mind control quirk?" He exclaimed swinging around to look at his new friend.

Several people started muttering quietly as Shinsou gave a small nod.

"That is so fucking cool!" Bakugou yelled. "I've never met anyone with a mind control quirk before, is it hard to do?"

Shinsou shook his head, glancing around the room "no, it's not too hard, just takes a lot of concentration, which I'm working on."

"Can you make people do anything you want?"

"Yes and no." He then sent Bakugou a small smirk. "I'm sure I could stop you in your tracks."

Bakugou's whole face immediately lit up at the challenge, eyes sparkling as he roared "No fucking way! I would still smash you!"

"We'll see."

"We sure will! We'll have to train together, see if there's a way to break out of your control with enough practice" he was already mentally planning their sessions together, though he paused when Shinsou looked at him softly, his whole face transforming from its usual nonchalant expression.

Bakugou blushed, realising he was getting carried away, like usual.

"I mean, if you want to that is."

Shinsou just nodded, continuing to look at Bakugou intently, the moment was interrupted by a loud voice calling out.

"I'd never train with someone with a mind controlling quirk. That'd be freaky."

There were a few murmured agreements.

Shinsou's face went carefully blank, his shoulders nearly reaching to his ears as his eyes drifted from Bakugou to the ground.

Bakugou turned his rather impressive scowl on the person who had spoken. A short male, even shorter than himself, with dark hair and a look of distaste wrinkling his nose as he looked at Shinsou.

"Don't fucking look at him like that" Bakugou sneered, hands starting to light and pop at his sides. "You can't control what kind of quirk you get, and you shouldn't judge people on theirs. I think it sounds impressive and I'm sure he could wipe the floor with your snivelling arse."

A hand rested gently on his shoulder breaking him from his tirade, "just forget about it Bakugou" Shinsou said softly, "a lot of people feel that way."

Bakugou still looked outraged, but he stopped yelling at the kid across the room, who was looking legitimately shocked at the outburst.

"Fine," the blonde said with a huff. "But he should have more manners then to speak like that, especially in front of the whole class."

"Well, not everyone is like us" Shinsou said sardonically and Bakugou snorted, mumbling "rude fuckers" under his breath so quietly only those closest to him heard.

"I think I will go and visit my father" Shinsou said into the awkward silence, as he stood from his spot and straightened his clothes. He kept his eyes to himself. "I will see you later, Bakugou."

"Ask him about those training sessions" Bakugou called to the retreating back, and Shinsou sent him a wave, letting him know he had heard.

Bakugou still felt annoyed, but he also began to feel self-conscious as the silence in the room continued.

"So, what were the training rooms like?" Kirishima said, in a valiant attempt to break the tension and Bakugou latched on to the topic.

"Incredible. I could show you if you like?" Bakugou said, already standing from his spot keen for any excuse to escape this room.

Kirishima looked momentarily surprised.

"Sure, why not. We've still got a while before dinner anyway."

Unfortunately for Bakugou, Midoriya and Todoroki also stood. The rest of the room started to drift away or start other conversations as the four made their way out of their dorms.

"That was pretty cool of you to stand up for Shinsou like that" Kirishima said with a smile that made the sun look dim.

Bakugou just shrugged awkwardly, feeling green eyes watching him closely.

"Was just the truth. Besides, you have to train against all sorts of quirks if you want to be the best. Something that fucker clearly doesn't understand."

Kirishima hummed thoughtfully but Bakugou turned as he heard Midoriya snort.

"What?" he said defensively.

"You really think you're going to be the best?" Midoriya said his voice clearly sceptical.

"Of course," Bakugou said with no hesitation at all.

"Good luck beating me" Midoriya said with a smirk, that quickly fell as Bakugou started laughing.

The blonde's eyes were lit with amusement and determination that had something in Midoriya's gut heating.

"Oh, you might beat me to the top spot" Bakugou conceded. "But I can guarantee you won't hold it for long."

Midoriya scowled even as the heat in his gut grew. He went to say something back, but Bakugou was already walking away, Kirishima chatting happily at his side. His eyes absolutely did not trace the strong back, plush arse and thick thighs of the shorter teen as he walked away, no matter what Todoroki would say later.

A hand clapped him on the shoulder, jolting him out of his thoughts of just what that arse would feel like gripped in his hands. He turned to find Todoroki watching him with a smirk.

"You've got yourself some competition there."

Midoriya rolled his eyes, but he couldn't deny that the other teen was interesting…

He gave his friend a playful shove, ignoring the indignant squawk, as he took off after Bakugou and Kirishima.
