Chapter:28 Let the Mind Wander
It was now noon as the group are on their way to the fourth control center after finishing the third one.
They decided to go in one single group after everything that happened yesterday as they now easily fight off the Grimms more efficiently together.
The others were also, of course, worried from the info they got about the abnormal Grimm that Red fought. Its going to be a problem if there are more of them, but they would try anything to get the upper hand.
Right now, the group are just continuing there walk in the Emerald Forest as some of them now carry their supplies since the trek would be longer and longer each control center.
"How long is the fourth one again?" Ruby asked, looking very exhausted from walking for a long time.
The rest were also getting tired as they haven't gotten a rest after the third one.
"We're getting close my dear students, just a bit more and we'll get there," Professor Port as he didn't look that exhausted at all despite his shape.
"I hope so, my feet are killing me," Weiss complained.
"Well you're the only one who have heels so sucks to be you," Green said as the heiress look at her in annoyance.
"Atleast you aren't the ones carrying the heavier stuff," Jaune said as he and the boys carried more stuff than the girls, except for Yang. She's a strong girl.
"We have our advantages but we should focus on the mission in hand," Blue reminded everyone as they kept walking.
With Red, he was in the back of the group with Yellow to cover their backs as they just look to the rest of the group in front of them.
"Everything got so stressful really fast," Red mutters as Yellow agreed with him.
Ever since the discovery of the Abnormal Grimm, everyone couldn't stop talking about it. Red and the leaders were really worried that it might cause a ton of panic in the group and would lead to more Grimms attacking them. Good thing everyone didn't panic, but the fear is still there.
"It also doesn't help that there might be more Grimms like it," Yellow added as Red nodded in agreement.
"We just hope that this would sail smoothly," Red said before having a quick look to Sabrina, who was just a few feet away from them.
Yellow noticed this as she look at her leader/girlfriend.
"Sabrina us something more in your past isn't she?" The young blonde asked as the cap wearing teen just kept his silence so she just keep her questions for later.
The group soon reach the fourth control center after being attacked by a small horde of Grimms. They did manage to kill all of them but they didn't leave it without having a little scratch.
While guarding the area, Red removed his tattered jacket and had to continue guarding with a different one.
He then heard someone whistle and saw that it was Yang.
"Man, you're quite buff Red," Yang said as the cap wearing teen look at his body.
While not that buff, he still has some muscles and also quite lean in physique.
"Well, I wouldn't hit hard if I didn't now would I?," Red said as he flexes his biceps.
"Yellow is a very lucky girl to have a guy like you," Yang commented as Red look to Yellow with a smile on his face.
"Yeah," He said before looking at Sabrina meditating as a frown now appeared on his face.
Yang followed his gaze and she raised an eyebrow in wonder before looking at Red.
"You have more history than you've told us haven't you?" The older female blonde said as Red scratches the back of his head.
"It's just the past, we shouldn't let it drag us down," He said, not wanting to continue the conversation but Yang clearly wasn't having it.
"Drag us down, right," She said, clearly unconvinced as Red just let out a sigh.
"Look, if you want an explanation, we could, but we're still in a mission and I need to keep my head into it and not having anything to add my already increasing stress," Red pleaded with her as he slowly feeling mentally exhausted.
Yang stared at him for a moment and said, "You better, it's not good for you."
"I could say the same to you," He retorted.
"Those are fighting words Red, and atleast mine is with my family and not my love life," Yang said as she then walk away to join with her team.
Red then let out another sigh as he grabbed another custom made jacket and went back to patrolling.
Blue is currently leaning on the control center while taking notes on the picture of Abnormal Grimm that Red gave him.
"Anything on that Grimm Mr. Oak?" Port asked as he continues the repairs on the control center.
"It would be a lot easier if I have some samples to explain the glowing, but I could still say that something is really wrong with this Beowolf. It has a much bigger upper body and its skull mask is bigger. It is clearly more aggressive with what Red told me," Blue said as he then look to the pictures of the crates that Red got, specifically the emblem. "But what bothers me is this emblem. I know I've seen this before, my grandfather even showed it to me. Twice."
"That is troubling indeed," Port said as he continued working. "This could be something more than we have thought."
"Probably an experiment or something" Blue said as he then heard something and scoffed. "And this is a test run. GRIMMS!!"

Everyone were immediately on high alert as a massive horde of Grimms began to attack.
Red and Ruby were immediately went to the north of the center with their weapons on hand.
Red quickly ran up to a Beowolf before sliding down to avoid an incoming slash attack, he then grab its right leg before standing up and tosses the Grimm with a mighty heave. A Boarbatusk rolled up to him and he quickly shoot out his grapples to ensnare the rolling Grimm and uses it as a wrecking ball.
Ruby was cutting down any Grimm in her path, her blade madly swinging around like a fierce hurricane and the Grimms were obstacles in her path. An Ursa bisected from its midsection with a recoild shot, a Creep decapitated with a twirl, and a Beowolf was cut vertically in half with an overhead slash.
As the two continued mowing down the Grimms, the others immediately the two except for Surge, Sabrina, and Blue.
Weiss strikes the Grimm with the combination of precision and lethality. Each thrust of her blade easily pierce and slash any soft spots of every Grimm in her path. A slash to the knee quickly took down an Ursa before piercing its left eye to kill it. She then fired a barrage of Dust that carpet bombs the rest of the horde, making some room for everyone to move.
Blake took this moment to cut down the Grimms with her two blades. Decapitation, dismemberment, and flat out execution of the Grimms. The Cat Faunus then began to shoot them as more of their group keeps coming.
Yang and Nora are just killing the Grimms with explosive power. Each shots from their weapons blow them away and they were easily brutalized by Yang's devastating punches and Nora pummeling them with her hammer.
Ren and Yellow were next, the green wearing teen charges in while firing constantly while Yellow blitzes through in the form of lightning. The Grimm staggers from the hail of bullets and they were quickly knocked down by getting zapped by Yellow.
Ren then began to use the blades of his weapon to cut down a Creep and quickly holsters one of his weapons so he could deliver a devastating palm strike at a Nigeranis that was charging at him.
Yellow continues to run in mach speed, each strike of her fingers easily stun the Grimms and a kick that could reach the speed of sound obliterated their heads and even dismember them.
The rest of the group then arrived as the Grimm forces were already halved.
Jaune and Pyrrha ran up with their sword and shields, cutting down those charges at him and protecting each others backs with their shields. The two continued their fight till Green jumped over them with a war cry and cuts an Ursa vertically in half.
The brunette continues her rampage as more Grimms being killed by her own blade. She merciless as more Grimms dyed her weapon black with all of the ashes that gathered on it. With another final cry, she killed three Grimms with one single slash.
Everyone continued to fight as more suddenly Grimms keeps coming, they suddenly hear more rustling.
Then out of the woods, more Grimms began to attack and, to their horrors, more of those Abnormal Beowolves. There are even Creeps in the mix of Abnormal Grimms.
They continued their fight that Green went for one of the Abnormal Creeps.
As she was about to slam her blade at it, it began to glow and the brunette immediately sense an incoming danger, she quickly jump back before the Abnormal Grimm suddenly blew up, killing itself in the process.
"Guys! These Creeps blow up!" Green called out to everyone as they were more wary in this battle.
"This just got even worse," Jaune said withdrew his sword and shield and brought out his spear.
"Then let's be more careful," Ren said as everyone continued their fight with the horde.
Red immediately grapples one of the Abnormal Grimm and threw it in the air, Yang then came out of nowhere and spiked the volatile Grimm to a small group of normal Grimms and they were soon killed by the explosion after the Creep hits them. The two then continued their assault as Red began to pummel an Ursa to the ground while Yang blasted away a rolling Boarbatusk and devastatingly punched the head off a Nigeranis.
Ruby and Yellow then came through, the hooded girl coming in a deadly twister as the Grimms were mercilessly cut up by her large scythe. She then aimed at an Abnormal Beowolf before firing a killing blow and used the recoil to kill more Grimm.
Yellow then let out her weapon as she uses it to hook one of the Abnormal Creeps and swung it towards an Ursa, killing it with the suicide bomber. Yellow then used her speed and struck thev ead of an Abnormal Beowolf with her knee to stun it before it got shot on the head with a rifle round.
Blue stayed in his position by the control center as both Surge and Sabrina joined the fray. He quickly shot a Beowolf on the head before shooting a rolling Boarbatusk on the eye. He then had to engage in close range as a couple of those Abnormal Creeps charge at them but he easily killed them and kicked them away before they exploded. He then went back to long range after cutting off the head of a normal Creep.
Green came in like a raging bull, her blade powered by her Semblance destroy those who are in her way. One slash could easily slice through a Boarbatusk during its roll and even break the ground in front of her to make the Grimms loose their balance and took this opportunity to also kill them.
Team JNPR then joined in, Jaune quickly used his spear to hold back an Ursa as Pyrrha sliced of its head. He then pulled his spear away and struck a Creep with its deadly tip. After slicing the Ursa's head, Pyrrha then charges at a Beowolf and faces it in combat. The Grimm trying to claw her but she was really agile and avoided all of its strikes before ending it two quick slashes from her blade.
Nora was in the air as she crushes a Nigeranis flat like a pancake, she quickly recovered from her attack as her weapon quickly change to gun form and lobbed multiple grenades that decimated the a third of the horde. A rolling Boarbatusk then came at her but she immediately switch back to her hammer and just smacks it away towards an Abnormal Creep and it exploded on impact.
Deciding not to waste more ammo, Ren charges in with his fists. He put his weapons in their holsters as he quickly diverted a claw strike from a Beowolf and he kneed it to back it double over. He then punches it on the muzzle before delivering an Aura enhanced palm strike that blew up the Beowolf into smithereens. He then jumped back from a pouncing Nigeranis and was about to attack it before Blake came in and decapitated it.
Speaking of Blake, she and Weiss soon continue their attack with Surge and Sabrina.
Blake uses her speed and keen senses to avoid any incoming attacks before using her blades to slash them, cutting their limbs off to immobilize them so the others could finish them off.
Weiss using more Dust rounds at the Grimms. They were either burned, frozen, shocked, and even crushed by the array of Dust fired at them. When she decided to go close, she would pierce and slash the Grimms with her blade, not wasting a second to strike them down.
Surge fires his guns at the horde, his bullets piercing their skulls, and his knives piercing and slashing them till they began to disintegrate into ashes.
Lastly, Sabrina made the Grimms float into the air before waving her hands down to force them to crash to the ground, which caused the Abnormal Creeps to blow up from impact. She then put an Ursa in a psychic hold and proceeds to rip its head of its neck, she then threw the decapitated body corpse to another Abnormal Creep that also blew up from impact.
As the battle continues, Port nearly finished the repairs. So with a single press of a button, it was now fixed.
"It's done Mr. Oak!" Port called out to Blue as the young man looked at him then to everyone who were fighting.
"Port finished the repairs! Let's go!" Blue called out to everyone as some managed to hear him and quickly told the others.
They immediately began to do a tactical retreat as the Grimms slowly began to overpower them. Those who are in further range to give those in front some cover fire while those in front cover the backs of those in the middle.
They soon escape as a force field now surrounded the control center, protecting it from further attacks.

It was now night time as the group set up camp half way from the last control center.
Everyone went to have some deserve rest after that huge fight as most of them are now sleeping in their tents while the others search the perimeter.
Red and Blue were taking their shifts as they wander around the camp with their weapons in hand.
"Just one more and we could go back to Beacon," Red said in relief as he clenched his fist, expecting an attack from somewhere.
"Yeah," Blue said as he looked behind them, holding tightly on his weapon. He then look back to Red. "So Yellow noticed?"
"Noticed what?" Red said dismissively as Blue just look at him with a deadpan look on his face.
"You know what I mean Red, Yellow is on to you along with Yang. You have to tell them soon," Blue said as Red looked annoyed.
"I know! I know!" He yelled a bit, releasing some of his stress, before calming down. " I will tell them but not now. I already told Yang that I would explain when we go back to Beacon, so please don't add any more stress on me."
Blue just snorts as he look at the troubled look on his friend's face and said, "You better or you can never go back."
The brown haired teen then walked away whole Red stood there thinking on what his friend said. He just grits his teeth before punching a nearby tree, almost puncturing it before keeping up with Blue. His mind now troubled as he slowly loose his grip on his emotions.
He just hope they could go home before something worse would happen.

I am just on the roll am I? I just love creating my stories and I just wanted to continue this.
I am also thinking ahead more so I could be more comfortable with what I am doing here.
