Chapter 33: Yuhi and Chupataro's UTS Report
"It's Yuhi…"
"…and Chupataro's…"
"UTS Report!"
"This time it's the Great Demon King's Fusion Monster, Meeeg-chan Black!"
"A powerful multi-choice effect that allows you to bring an Equip Magic from your Deck to your hand to attack again, or deal piercing battle damage when there's a Field Card in play, chupa! What a versatile effect! That's Meeeg-chan for you, chupa!"
"Aaahh, I'm glad card me was able to break the Black Hole Empire's curse!"
"Chupa will take credit, cabra!"
"Next time: Yuhi and Chupataro's UTS Report. H-huh? What?"
"GO RUSH, CHUPA!"
"Hm-ha-waa?" Yuhi's mumble came out jumbled.
"I said, 'It's almost time to go, chupa!'"
"Oh. Already? Did I doze off?"
"Chu, chupa! But you were snoring so cutely, Chupa didn't want to disturb your beauty rest, chupa!"
"Pff! I don't take beauty rests! I take power naps!"
"Sure, chupa."
"I dreamt we were chibi!" Yuhi snagged a cushion around Chupataro and hugged him back onto the floor of Chupataro's apartment. "And you're the cuter one, Chupataro! I'm just the coolest!"
"Cool, cool. Now let's hit the road, chupa! Chupa's itching to give her a spin, chupa!"
"Today's the day, huh? That you paid the sushi place for your scooter in full?"
"It's 100% Chupa's now!"
"Y'know, you coulda used some of Asaka's bribe money! Just sayin'!"
"Your sister would've chupa'd Chupa, cabra!"
"It's good you have it cuz we're gonna need it since I overslept! C'mon! We can't be late!"
They scrambled down to the entrance to the Black Goat like children Christmas morning, where they donned their helmets and Yuhi took his spot behind Chupataro on the chupacabra boy's bike.
"All set, chupa?" Chupataro pulled the strap tight underneath his chin and the goggles over his eyes.
"Yup!"
"THEN WE'RE OFF, CHUPA~!" He zoomed out onto the main road.
"WOOHOO!"
Chupataro was a whiz at this.
"About The*Mokeida Mbembe! You told Chupa he likes building plastic models and reading manga, but…What kind of guy is he really, cabra?"
"You don't seriously think I'd two-time you, do ya?"
"Of course not, chupa! It's just…"
"You love me."
Chupataro turned as red as the stoplight Yuhi made him run through.
"I love you too, Chupataro. Don't worry! You'll get along fine! You're both reptiles!"
"Again with the stereotypes, chupa! Chupa doesn't know where you get it from, cabra!" Chupataro laughed out loud.
"Television? It'd be your fault, Mr. Producer! Aside from Manya and co., reruns of Magical Sheep Girl Meeeg-chan are all that's on!"
"Are you accusing Meeeg-chan of being biased, chupa?"
"Against those with bad haircuts or no hair? Yeah! The Barber Empire are literally the villains!"
"Yeah! And like all except two of them are voiced by Manya, chupa! Therefore, who's the true villain? It's Manya, chupa!"
"Hahaha! Anyway, I want to introduce you guys! So you're not threatened by my friendship with Mokeida-kun!"
"Nawt threatened, chupa!" Chupataro spat. "Chupa has everything Chupa could ever want, chupa!"
"Mm! Cool boyfriend. Sweet ride. A job."
"Chupa's taking over the world, cabra!"
"Mutsuba Town, anyway. Though Asaka probably won't like it."
"Chupa!"
"So you're definitely not threatened by Mokeida-kun?"
"No! That ship has sailed, chupa! Or it will. When does he leave, chupa?"
A joking snort.
"The*Yuki-Onnanoko said the repairs on The*Luge's ship should be finished by tomorrow. They've about wrapped up unfreezing his crew too. I can't believe it was curry bread that did it!"
"Uargh. Chupa ate so much of it, Chupa gained poison immunity, chupa! We're here, chupa!"
Yuhi and Chupataro had arrived at the Go and Shogi Club. Yuhi had scheduled to play board games with The*Mokeida Mbembe, Oomori Menjaburo, and Glatt Ishida.
"U-um…Hello! It's a pleasure to meet you! I'm The*Mokeida Mbembe!"
"Chupataro Chuparu, chupa!"
Delightfully, Mokeida and Chupataro struck up a cozy rapport, chatting about Yuhi mostly. Yuhi sat at the table eating up their stories and praise, albeit with Chupataro still weaving around Yuhi's name. This rapport was facilitated by Mokeida's big-hearted gift to Chupataro to mark their new friendship: a posable figure of Magical Sheep Crossdresser Yuhi that Mokeida made fully from scratch.
Now Chupataro had a figure of Yuhi to go with his figure(s) of Meeeg-chan!
On the game side of things, Ishida was dominating Menjaburo at go. Or he was until Menjaburo had a closer look at the grid, and discovered Ishida had been substituting out the stone game pieces for stones he'd fished out of the river.
"Unfair gamesmanship, de gojaru!" Menjaburo razed Ishida's army off the board.
"Excuse you! Put the stones back! You're unbalancing my beautiful board balance!"
"Dear, Menjaburo-dono! Is that too much cheating for you?" Arai-san, President of the Go and Shogi Club, offered his crooked condolences.
Arai-san wasn't above cheating. Cheating was a form of artistic expression. You could often come across Arai-san polishing a piece from his short-but-one jar collection, from Pot of Greed to Pot of Avarice (Jar of Greed was the missing piece).
For Ishida, it was rocks. Rocks and stones were his art, his collection…and his Rock Dad, Megalith Mom, and Bratder.
Mokeida's was plastic models. Clearly.
Yuhi's was crafts.
Chupataro's…Chupataro's was his unhealthy obsession with Meeeg-chan and Meeeg-chan memorabilia.
They were all unhealthy preoccupations to a degree, some more than others if you asked Manya for her ruthless take.
The mash-up of hobbies and personalities was engrossing. Yuhi was absorbed with watching it all play out. As in, people watching.
Eventually, through Arai-san's mediation, Menjaburo and Ishida called a truce. Menjaburo invited everyone at the Go and Shogi Club to his restaurant in Under-Underground Town, and cooked them tsukemen on the house.
