A Japanese Weresheep in Mutsuba Town

Summary:
There are some forms of alien activity even MIK turns a blind eye to. The truly alien activity between Chupataro and Ohdo Yuhi, for instance.
Chapter 42: Zuwijo: Tall, Dark, and Beautiful
"Mitsuko's in love with Zuwijo?"
"You're just figuring that out now, chupa?"
"Heeeeeeeeh! I guess that makes sense why she was goin' all "divine judgment" on Dinois. But why Zuwijo? He's evil!"
"Why Chupa? Chupa was –?"
Yuhi pinched Chupataro's cheek like a grandma pinching the cheek of her grandson. "You were never evil, Chupataro. Just easily manipulated."
"Cabraaa~! Don't make fun of Chupataro, chupa!"
"Zuwijo, on the other hand…He would've destroyed everything to get The*Luge's power! He –" Yuhi caught himself, remembering Yudias was there. "Shit. S-sorry, Yudias. Zuwijo was your friend and superior officer, so…"
"No, Yuhi. Your argument is valid. However, you once told me you had doubts Zuwijo is a villain, did you not?"
"I don't know anymore, Yudias. I said what I felt at the time. He could've crushed us all with Requiem if he wanted to, but he didn't. I thought he might not truly be a bad guy, but he hasn't given me any new evidence to believe that since. I suppose that makes him the only one of our 'friends' who hasn't turned around."
"Chupa, the kappa, Hiramori Mitsuko, the Rovian Bandits, the Great King of Terror's team," Chupataro listed off. "Chu. Checks out, chupa!"
"And Zuwijo used my Earthdamar to play with Chupataro's life! That I'll never forgive!"
"You sound like Yuna right now, chupa!"
"I-I do?"
"And didn't you forgive Mitsuko for aiding Zuwijo, chupa?"
"She sorta made up for that, helpin' you out with your little clone saga."
"So it's not so unforgivable, cabra!"
Chupataro had Yuhi there.
"What d'ya think Mitsuko will do when she gets to Zuwijo? She was keepin' dango soup warm for him all this time!" Yuhi couldn't imagine the maiden with the patience of a saint would be very saintly after reuniting with the man who walked out on her and uprooted her last nerve.
"I am unknowledgeable about the upper strength limits of a 3-Metre alien. Even as our strongest warrior, I am skeptical Zuwijo could overpower Mitsuko."
"You're way off, Yudias! She'll rage for three hours and go back to being head over heels for him, chupa!"
Yuhi inched his head back between Yudias and Chupataro from the side. "Really?"
"Works that way for you, chupa!"
"Attraction to bad boys. The true mystery…" Yuhi whispered to himself.
"Chupa?"
"Ah, it's nothing. Something Yuamu said to me before."
"Something I said to you?"
"Yuamu! You startled me!"
"Why? Because you're not out searching for our client's lost cat? You shouldn't be picking apart Mitsuko-chan's love life behind her back. Her feelings will be hurt."
"That is wise." Yudias crossed both arms and nodded. "Yuhi, we should desist in this line of inquiry."
"Time out!"
"Hm?"
"Chu?"
"Haha, you had 'em, President, but you can't pull one over on me! Fess up! You want to play matchmaker again!"
"Good grief." Yuamu shrugged off her sibling's gotcha with good humour. "I get results, don't I, Yuhi? You and Chupataro-kun are –"
"Chupataro is Chupataro! The worst he's ever done is try to erase the good part of himself – okay, and me alongside him – but that was because MIK tore him in half! This is Zuwijo we're talking about here!"
"Attraction to bad boys, Yuhi! It's a mystery!" she said it so that everyone could hear it. "You can't fault Mitsuko-chan for being drawn to tall, dark, and beautiful."
Yudias was awkwardly wide-eyed hearing of his brother-in-arms spoken of in such language.
"True, true, true, true! Hasn't anyone noticed how tall she is, chupa? Must be lonely being a single – the single – 3-Metre alien around, chupa!"
"Then a man who measures up better than most comes into her life…" Yuamu intoned.
"Mrm, I wouldn't understand. My man ain't tall, dark, and beautiful. He's short, small, and bitey, hehe!" Yuhi noogied Chupataro.
"Chupaa-aaah!"
"If you intend to investigate me, don't make a secret of it!" the subject of their gossip boomed.
"HIRAMORI MITSUKO?"
…ko-ko-ko! Yuhi's ear function returned. "Are we gonna do that every time she busts out behind us?"
"Sorry, Mitsuko-chan." Yuamu didn't answer Yuhi. "We were wrong to be nosy."
"I'll tell ya who was wrong. Zuwijo."
"Yuhi!"
"Your brother's not wrong. What would be wrong is to act as though Zuwijo-sama did nothing wrong."
"Calling him 'Zuwijo-sama' again, chupa? What did Chupa say! Head over heels, cabra!"
Mitsuko didn't need her 3-Metre suit to put the fear of God in Chupataro. She accomplished that with three seconds of blue-turned-sanguine eye contact that had Yuhi and Chupataro clasping each other's hands.
"I won't wait any longer. Prepare yourself, Zuwijo!"
"So you are planning on doin' to Zuwijo what you did to that pot of soup!"
"Zuwijo left me waiting at the bakery forever! I'll repay that courtesy threefold!"
In three quick exchanges, Mitsuko went from wistful wallflower, to scalding sidekick, to raspy reckoner. The woman had such vocal range!
Notably, it was still vague what the current Mitsuko's aspirations were for Zuwijo, be they romantic or vindictive. Attesting firsthand, Yuhi could certify: hate gets baked in with the love, and vice versa.
"Yudias, how far from Pawtner is the Velgear Cluster, anyhow?"
"My home cluster lies far, far away. In order to reach it, we need to travel at way-faster-than-light speeds, which requires a special ore named Goradonium."
"Goradonium?"
"Yes. I have apprised Asaka of this, and she has set a course for a mining planet where Goradonium is mined in great quantities."
Mitsuko steadied herself by counting to three. Now, it's you who'll wait for me, Zuwijo! I'm coming to you at warp speed, Zuwijo-sama~!
