Chapter 11: Seamless
After stepping out of the imaging chamber the Knight and the King again approached the console where Guardian Mercury and Doc were standing by. The Guardian called up another set of images as she addressed the two men, "Your Highness, I have the data ready for this Garrett Miller. Dan, I need you to identify if this man is the man you know." Jupiter Knight walked to the computer and looked to the crystal that was displaying the image. There was a lanky man in a wheelchair sitting in a university classroom. The image of the man sitting in a class being meek and closed didn't seem right, "That can't be Garrett."
"This is all of the information we have in this timeline about him," The blue-haired woman said looking at the man beside her, "He appears to have lived a sheltered life. From the best I can gather he studied athletic medicine and physical therapy." "He never took Egon's class?" he asked. He knew Garrett was originally taking classes for athletic medicine until he took Egon's Paranormal Phenomenon 101 class due to his love of the Ghostbusters. Guardian Mercury shook her head, "No. The only ones that took the class were Sir Roland, Sir Eduardo, and Kylie Griffin. Roland and Eduardo had to retrieve a Ghost Beacon from Kylie after she took it to contact her Grandma Rose."
The Knight was thinking back to when he read the case logs. Originally when Achira broke out and started to infect people with her disease she needed Kylie as a host. It was Roland, Eduardo, and Garrett that became the first of the new Ghostbusters. It finally clicked, "'The first one alone, then three more.' Something went wrong. Garrett is a thrillseeker that lifts weights. Something or someone didn't influence him to be a Ghostbuster. But…"
"How?" He turned to the other side to find Guardian Mars standing beside him. She had a harsh scowl on her face as though she was trying to think. She kept looking at the man and having some kind of feeling well inside her. The Knight could see the cogs running in her head as she was trying to come to a type of conclusion. She made a decision, "We may have to adjourn to the temple. Maybe we can use a fire reading to give us the answer we're looking for."
"And if that fails," the Knight asked rhetorically, "what do we do then? Crack open a pack of Stay-Pufts to roast over the reading fire?" He felt someone try to hit him in the arm only for him to hear someone yelp in pain. Guardian Venus was trying to hit him for the comment only to make her pull back her hand in pain. The Knight commented, "And that's what happens when you hit someone in armor." Guardian Venus huffed, "Well, there's a place that isn't armored where I can try that!" She then promptly smacked him in the back of the head. He groaned in pain, "Ah! Easy on the head! I'm driving a DeLorean; do you have any idea how many times I've hit myself in the head with those stupid doors?" The Guardian of Love blurted out, "I remember you being a lot nicer!"
"Well, what ya want outta me, Mina?" the Knight raved, "I've been thrown through time; chased and shot at by cops; got attacked by coyotes and chased by a bear; I had one of my subordinates kidnapped with two teenagers by a lunatic that's stole one of my pieces of equipment; I've had the DeLorean shanghaied; fought Sailor Pluto; got my ass kicked by the palace guards; found out Garrett hated me in the past like he does now; and through all of this, I haven't slept in the slightest! Forgive me for being a bit irritable. Can you grant me at least THAT luxury, please?"
The more the Knight ranted and rambled off the list of annoyances, the more Guardian Venus flinched at the list's length. There was clear regret on her face as she relinquished her hostility, "At lot nicer, yeah, but also a lot meaner. I forgot what happened when you got angry."
After a short while Jupiter Knight, Doc, the King, and Guardians Mercury and Venus watched as the Equerries of the palace had built a fire in the main temple. Guardian Mars walked into the temple in her Miko robes and approached the fire, kneeling to her knees and beginning her chant. She picked up a sliver of wood and spoke to the fire as she spoke, "Please, give me a vision of this man Garrett Miller. Show me his past which allows me to see where his way was lost." With that, she threw the wood block into the fire allowing for the focused question to be one with it. She folded her hands with her index fingers touching at the tips.
The others in the temple approached behind the Guardian and kneeled. It was a silent few moments. "Moon, sun, stars…" she repeated as she focused. At this time the Knight took out his PKE meter and started a scan. He was curious to see if Guardian Mars' ability to fire read was powerful and significant. It wasn't that he doubted her ability nor that he didn't believe Lita when she told him about it in her letters, but he wanted to see if there was something quantifiable about it. Doc looked over and saw the Ghostbuster in the armor scanning the woman and tried to quietly get his attention, "Dan, what are you doing?" He grabbed the meter from the man's chainmail-gloved hand and whispered his beratement at the man, "It's rude to take a power reading from someone showing their power."
At first Jupiter Knight was confused at what Doc was doing. After a moment he looked past the Scientist beside him, then scowled at the man before pointing to the person beside him. Doc looked to the other side of him and saw Guardian Mercury with her VR goggles over her eyes and her minicomputer scanning the reading. After seeing the sight beside him Doc sheepishly handed the PKE meter back to the Knight and allowed him to perform a scan.
Moments passed. Guardian Mars was locked in a repeating chant attempting to get the fire to divulge some sort of information on their target. The tension was thick as they waited for the reading to yield something…
It hit.
Guardian Mars jolted as her eyes went wide, the vision hitting like a brick. She saw the very moment, "It was in the 1980's! October of 1986!"
A couple of minutes later Guardian Mercury was again at the main console in the control room with Guardian Mars and Jupiter Knight beside her. They watched as they replayed a certain point in history right at the very elementary school Garrett attended in his childhood: PS 261 in Zipporiah Hills. The audio was being piped in from the historical recorders that also recorded the attack on the Moon Kingdom. They saw the young Garrett sitting at the bus stop waiting for his bus to take him home. Guardian Mars pointed at the screen, "That's it! That's him!" Jupiter Knight watched the child on the screen as he watched him wipe the tears from his eyes. He could hear him crying. It was bothersome to hear, "What happened?"
The young Garrett spoke to himself, "I give up!" That statement made the Knight's eyes nearly pop from his head as the kid continued, "They're right, I'm never gonna be a basketball player. I can't even jump or run!" The kid version of Garrett looked at his hands and the Knight saw red marks on his palms. He heard him whimper, "I wasn't even strong enough to control this stupid chair. I'll never be good enough at anything."
"That poor kid," Guardian Mars said in a disheartened voice, "I just want to go back and give him a hug." The Knight looked at her with an eyebrow raised, "Man, you really don't know what he's like." She blanched then turned to Knight to shoot him a dirty look. The Knight sighed and rolled his eyes, "You being offended doesn't change my perception of him in my own dimension."
"Timeline," Guardian Mercury stated in correction, "not dimension."
The Knight grunted, "Amy, my patience is already thin; don't."
Back at the entrance of the control room the King and Doc stood with Guardian Venus, the three of them watching and hearing what the Knight and the two Guardians were seeing through the historical recorders. Doc spoke softly, "Great Scott, he was bullied out of being a Ghostbuster?" "Worse, Doctor," the King stated, "he was bullied out of being worthy; bullied from his strength. As much as his potential was there, he was convinced he wasn't worthy to gain that strength. It looks as though he was led down a path that caused him to be absent from the Ghostbusters, thus breaking the prophecy foretold of the Solar Knights."
"It's sounding like without this Garrett," Guardian Venus surmised, "Tempus would have been successful in starting the Ghost Wars. We managed to alter time to make it where he couldn't succeed, but it left us with bigger problems."
Doc looked at the King and asked, "Is there anything we can do when we leave this place to correct this issue? If we can just fix the DeLorean's circuits…" "There is something that can be done," the King said, crossing his arms, "but unfortunately Sir Daniel is the only one that can perform the task. The Knights must look after one another; 'Trust in each other, they must find.'" "But," the scientist interjected, "the time period Dan needs to travel to is outside where the DeLorean can travel. If we can get a replacement clock circuit chip…"
"That technology is not available in this time period," King Darien said flatly, "Besides, you still have a task ahead in repairing the timeline you originated from beforehand and the replacement part you seek is in the time you were originally meant to visit. Your original plan will simply have to be amended again… as well as ours," he outstretched his hand again, "I need the crystal back for a moment." Doc took a moment, looking at the King's white-gloved hand outreached to him. He didn't like this. The idea of playing with a man's mind and his ability to recall or even know details - in his purview - was evil. It was the definition of robbing a man of his free will.
On the other hand, knowing what's to become of Marty and Jennifer if he doesn't do it to Biff was just as evil. He knew Tannen was selfish and bold if given enough power, and he knew when he goes back to 1985 it's going to again be like the Hellscape he witnessed before. In the end it was an evil that was needed to prevent the world from becoming destroyed. Still, Dan was not an evil man like Tannen was. Doc was of two minds about the whole situation.
"Doctor?" The King became insistent, his hand still being held out. Doc shook his head and reached into his cargo pocket for the crystal. He handed the device over, a look of defeat on his face while doing so. Guardian Venus saw the look on his face and knew what he was thinking, "I know this is very hard for you, Dr. Brown, but Dan will remember it all when the time comes."
"Correct," the King said as he cupped the crystal between both of his hands. The crystal began to shine between his hands as he spoke, "and when it comes, it will happen when all of the Knights are together." The light started to dim as he finished his task, "This will allow him to perform an action that will alter time, but it will only happen once you and Sir Daniel complete your repairs to the timeline and he and Sir Eduardo go back to New York." He relinquished the crystal once again, handing it back to the time machine's inventor.
Almost as quickly the King handed the crystal back to Doc, all of them heard Jupiter Knight approach which prompted the scientist to put the device back in his pocket as smoothly as possible. He was followed by Guardians Mars and Mercury. The Knight looked upset, "I saw enough. I think we'd better get moving. I feel like I'm gonna scream from what I just learned." Doc knew he was just taunting the cobra, but he needed to know at least a bit, "What did you learn? Something you didn't know about your friend?" He nodded, "Turns out he's actually as stubborn as I am, but only with the right motivation. I just found out the kids that bullied him were people he considered friends in my timeline," he put his hands on his hips and sighed, "We're more alike than I originally thought."
"You trusted the wrong people?"
"More like I was thrown into a bad situation," the Knight said with exasperation, "If my grandfather hadn't told me to show people they were wrong about me let alone tell them, I wouldn't have gotten where I am. I had to tell my father I wasn't stupid and I was gonna prove it. Did it. The prick has nothing to say to me now that I had. Maybe Garrett…"
"Look," Guardian Mercury said as she tried to get everyone back on task, "it's time for you to depart," she looked to a guard and signaled him. After a moment the guard came back with the Proton Pack that was damaged in the fight, "We repaired the cable and replaced your thrower. We…" she said with a hint of sadness in her voice, "We took the parts from Dr. Spengler's pack from when he was our adviser. We took good care of it after…" the Knight placed a hand on her shoulder, "I know. Lita told me. Thank you." He slid the backpack accelerator on. After getting it settled, everyone began walking out of the control room back to the corridor that led them to the courtyard.
As everyone walked out Rini and Guardian Jupiter had just entered the control room to see everyone exiting. Guardian Jupiter stalled the moment she saw everyone leaving. Tears were in her eyes as she watched everyone leave. She spoke with lacking confidence in her voice, "T-They're going. I-I guess they don't need anything else." Her right hand was clenched and she was holding it to her chest as she watched through glassed over eyes as her Knight left without noticing her. She turned to walk toward her bedchambers…
"Wait!" Rini called out as she pointed to the control console, "He forgot something!" Guardian Jupiter stopped and turned to see what it was the young Princess was pointing at. She walked toward it and saw it was black with embroidery of a Native American head on it. She grabbed it by the rigid part as she recognized the design. She hadn't seen this in many years. The pink haired girl beside her also recognized it, "Isn't that his lucky hat? Wasn't that the hat he was wearing that night at Starlight Tower?" The Guardian's eyes grew wide as she realized what the Princess was saying was accurate…
In the courtyard everyone gathered around the heavily modified DeLorean. Both gullwing doors were open awaiting its occupants as they bid farewell to friends; for one they were dear and old, for another were newfound. No matter the level of acquaintance, both men were thoroughly bid a safe departure. After stowing the Proton Pack back in the trunk space of the time machine Jupiter Knight was then hugging the three Guardians in his reach, soon after shaking King Darien's hand. The Knight lamented, "Thanks for the heads up on what's coming. I'm not entirely sure what to do about Garrett, though."
The King released his hand and spoke, "You will. You have a troubleshooting skill I have yet to see anyone replicate, match, or overall improve on. The answer will come to you." The Knight exhaled in frustration, "Yeah, such is my life as a technician." "A very good one at that," a voice said from behind him. The Knight looked back and saw Neo-Queen Serenity approaching behind him, "After all, we need men like you to fix things in our lives. It's one of the greatest purposes one could have." The two of them hugged, the Knight having a bit of a laugh in his voice, "You were always sunny about situations, Serena."
The two of them pulled away from each other allowing the Queen to see the man's face. She noticed the not-so-jovial look upon it, "What troubles you, Sir Daniel?" He looked into the Queen's blue eyes and saw her worry. He spoke softly, almost like he was ashamed, "I just thought…" he sighed, "I thought Lita would be here to see me off. I guess because… Well, she wanted me to…"
"Wait!" The both of them as well as the rest of the group by the DeLorean turned toward the path back into the Palace and saw Guardian Jupiter running up the main path to the courthouse. She stopped before her Knight and doubled over as she panted hard to regain her breath. The Queen became inquisitive, "Jupiter? What's troubling you?" After a few more breaths she stood upright and presented the Chicago Blackhawks hat in her hands, "Your… hat…"
Jupiter Knight put his hand on the top of his head and felt around to realize he didn't have it on, "Oh, shit, I forgot I took it off!" The Guardian walked closer to the man and placed his hat on his head with the bill pointed backwards. She spoke to him after securing the cap in place, "I always wanted to know something about that hat of yours: Why is it lucky to you?"
The Knight looked down and started to smirk a bit as he said it, "It was the last hat in my size at the mall in the design I liked. It was sitting under a pile of Air Jordans in a back room of a Foot Locker. I was lucky to find it. I wore it the day I won the original and the current Lucky Blacks at the auto auctions; I wore it the day I was hired as a Ghostbuster; but more importantly," he looked up into her eyes to show the tears start to build within his, "I wore it the night I kissed the most beautiful girl in Tokyo." Guardian Jupiter gasped in surprised joy as he caressed her face, "You are the kindest soul I've ever known. Guardian Jupiter; Sailor Jupiter; Lita Kino; no matter what you change your name to, you will always be the woman that has my heart. I will always love you." They kissed, holding it for some time.
Far above the courtyard in a balcony in the far towers were a group of shadowed figures. One of them was a tall one, her demeanor was closed off with her arms crossing her chest, "Is that him?" Another spoke up behind her, "Yes. He's the leader of the Solar Knights." "It's a pity we had to learn about them after we decided to come here. It would have been nice to meet them." "We will. From what I've been told, the white-haired one down there is going to help facilitate notifying us, but we'll have to wait."
"How long?"
"It depends on this new timeline that's about to form. The best both myself and Guardian Mercury can estimate, it can be anywhere between two and four years. Hopefully this is the last alteration. The universe can't handle any more alterations for a very long time."
The taller figure sighed, "I hate that the Door to Time and Space is synchronous with periods of a thousand years of travel. That DeLorean down there can go anywhere outside that thousand year span…"
The other figure giggled, "You just like it because it's a DeLorean."
The first figure scoffed, "Please. DeLoreans have extremely underpowered engines. It's amazing that thing can get up to its target speed to activate the time displacement." "Whatever the case," the other figure stated, "we have to wait for the correct moment in time. Once his memories are reactivated - properly - he will contact us and we'll help." "I hope you're right about this," the first figure walked to the edge of the balcony rail and leaned onto it with her hands revealing white gloves with dark blue trim halfway up her forearms, "because the whole universe might collapse if we get this wrong."
The Knight and his Princess broke their kiss. As he pulled away he gently ran his fingers along Guardian Jupiter's cheek until the last. Everyone watched as the Knight pulled away and backed toward the car's driver side door. He kept his eyes on her's as he backed, everyone backing away from his path to the DeLorean. He watched the sadness overtake her as he backed away further toward the time machine. The Knight stood at the door to the vehicle, everyone else sensing the tension but being too afraid to be the ones to break it. They didn't want to say goodbye…
"Dan," Doc said in a soft voice, "Dan, it's time for us to depart." The Knight turned back to the scientist and saw him looking at him from the other side of the car. Doc looked a bit upset himself. He looked as though he wanted to get this over with as quickly as possible. He couldn't blame him. He nodded at the man before looking back one last time to his Princess. They both stepped into the car and the Knight was about to close his door when he heard the Queen speak, "Sir Daniel, I believe you forgot something." He looked from the console of the car and up toward Neo-Queen Serenity, asking, "What'd I forget now?"
She giggled, "Your attire."
The Knight looked down to himself and realized what she was trying to tell him, "Oh, right," he looked back up to his Queen, "The armor's just a touch more comfortable than I give it credit for, but it ain't any lighter than a Proton Pack." He snapped both his fingers as a flash of light came over him. Doc looked over and squinted as he watched the Knight's armor and coat dissolve and disappear like ash made of light. Once his vision cleared he saw that Jupiter Knight turned back into Dan, his normal clothing returning as it was. Doc's eyes went wide as he leaned over and poked Dan in the shoulder, "Amazing!" Dan looked over and saw the scientist poking him. Dan promptly slapped the man's hand, Doc pulling it back and waving it in pain as Dan scolded him, "Don't do that!"
The Queen and the King laughed at that, soon after the Queen addressed them, "Good luck on your journey, gentlemen. You shall have safe passage to the Door of Time and Space." Dan nodded to her one last time. He reached up to the door strap on the gullwing and was about to pull it down when he got one last glimpse of Guardian Jupiter. She stood back away from the rest of the Guardians and the royals looking saddened. Dan gave her one last look, a sad smile gracing his face to give to her. Guardian Jupiter burned the image of Dan's face into her mind, soon after the moment passed he closed the door.
The DeLorean's engine started, the rumble accompanied by electronic whirring as the car powered all the way up. The sound of hissing was heard as the vehicle's hover controls activated and turned the tires to their side. The vehicle lifted off into the night sky, the flashing lights on the underside of the car visible to all standing in the courtyard. Guardian Jupiter started to rush forward and ran underneath the vehicle as it lifted off. She stopped as the rush of air from the car's hover systems blew her ponytail and bangs wild with her Sailor uniform's ribbons. She was lit up brightly as she watched the car reach higher and higher into the sky. The light that illuminated her began to fade as she watched the time machine fly toward the edge of the city where the entry to the Time-Space corridor sat. She spoke softly to herself as the car became more distant, "I will never forget you, Dan. You're as fierce as you are loyal; as you are kind. Your heart will always be in mine."
Inside the car Dan upshifted as he spoke to himself, "I will never disobey you; I will do as you ask, Lita. I'm not going to like it, but I will do it." He started clearing the tears from his eyes as Doc looked over to the Ghostbuster controlling the vehicle. He saw the man's pain, "Are you going to be alright, kid?" After a sniffle or two the man got his eyes cleared, he put his hand back on the gear selector as he answered, "Yeah, I'm alright." He sighed. He's not sure what this Lita told him to do, but Doc could see it was eating him up inside.
The car approached the ledge they first appeared on. The Door appeared as they approached and opened for the DeLorean. As they began traveling the Time-Space Corridor Dan started to talk, his sense of direction becoming lost, "I can't believe what just happened. I can't even believe Garrett needs to…" he looked very distracted. The more he spoke the more Doc was starting to realize what the King was saying was right, "How am I gonna get Garrett to want to be a Ghostbuster? How do I convince a kid to have confidence in himself? I'm 25 and I still don't have any of my own."
"Dan," Doc tried to get the man in the driver seat of his invention to become focused, "that's not important now. Like the King said, you'll figure it out. You still have the trip back to New York to think about it." "Doc, it's more than that," the man was stressing out as he guided the car while explaining, "I'm the least qualified to be doing anything like this. I think when I get back to my own time, I'm just gonna quit."
"Quit?"
"Quit being a Ghostbuster. Once Garrett finds out I had to force him down a path just to save the world, I won't be able to face him. He already hates me to the point he practically calls me 'Loose Cannon Shannon'. He'll wanna kill me once he realizes I made him make friends with bigoted people and forced him to become something. He already thinks I'm a danger to myself and others. Risking time just to make him something he wasn't comfortable with…"
"There's more to it, isn't there?" The question visibly made Dan more uncomfortable, "Jesus, Doc, you're starting to sound like Venkman." Doc's face became more stern. Dan looked briefly at the man in the passenger seat and decided to answer him, "When we lived in the past, I found out Mars Knight - Garrett - hated me back then, too. It was a British/Scottish thing. I was the leader of the Knights. Because of our love for our Princesses, two of Prince Darien's trusted soldiers betrayed him and the Earth Kingdom. It was my fault the Moon Kingdom fell. Knowing now that Garrett, Roland, and Eduardo are the Knights I've been looking for…" he growled and punched the car's steering wheel, "I wish I didn't know! Not now! How am I going to explain it to them?"
Doc started to rub the crystal that was in his cargo pocket. He knew it was coming, but he had a hope, "Perhaps you could wait until the time was right to tell them?"
"I can't sit on this!" Dan said with a projected tone, "Garrett already thinks I'm too sketchy; Eduardo thinks I keep secrets too much; Kylie is the one outlier in this and I'm positive she'll use this to crucify me. She thinks the reason I turned her down was because I thought she was a freak. I never even told any of them about Lita. Without the Scouts involved I wouldn't be able to say anything about this!"
Now Doc understood what the King was asking him to do. Because the information was so overwhelming it was going to freak Dan out to the point it was going to make him stray from where he needed to be. It was why the memories had to be locked; he needed to know it, but not right now. Now was unfortunately the only opportunity for him to know it, so delaying the information reveal had to be done to keep Dan moving toward his destiny. It was upsetting and heartbreaking watching this young man struggle with his team and dealing with the bizarre nature of this truth he needed to tell to them. He hated to admit it, but Doc was starting to agree with the King in doing this.
Sailor Pluto stood outside the Door, guarding as she always did in solitude. She sensed the DeLorean approaching and opened her eyes in awareness. The doors began to open as she began to step to the side of the vehicle passing her. The vehicle flew through the door and upward into the sky. She knew what was to come and she watched the time machine fly further and further away from her. She spoke as the car disappeared into the fog, "Be safe, Sir Daniel, Dr. Brown. May your mission be successful."
Dan activated the time circuits and was about to input the destination when the display panel came back up and already had the time set in the circuits. Both him and Doc looked at the panel with a bated breath at first in hopes the panel wouldn't be all lit as it was before. Once they saw the destination time already inputted they relaxed a bit as Dan was still just a touch confused. Doc filled him in as he handed the display goggles back to the driver, "The King pre-programmed the DeLorean's systems to take us back to the exact moment we were supposed to reenter at. All you need to do is accelerate to 88 miles per hour."
There was stress in Doc's voice. Dan looked over to him briefly and saw what looked like worry on the scientist's brow. Something was up and he wasn't sure what it was. Nevertheless he took the goggles and placed them over his eyes then began accelerating the vehicle to its target activation speed. While Dan couldn't see him, Doc took the crystal out of his pocket and looked at it. The red digital speedometer on the top of the dash started to climb rapidly as Dan shifted gears. Beeping and crackling of all kinds started to emanate from the vehicle's systems the closer to temporal breaching speed they approached. Just as the speedometer hit 88 and the Flux Capacitor lit up…
The crystal in Doc's hand also flashed brightly. Dan briefly became tense as his back arched. He yelped in pain…
They passed the time barrier.
Dan got himself oriented quickly after the intense flashes and bangs. He saw a large object in front of them. Dan hit the headlights and they saw a 707 heading straight for them. Both Doc and Dan screamed out as Dan held the wheel tightly and yanked up. The car nearly missed the tail of the plane as one of the DeLorean's tires nicked the tail and the tire blew out. Dan slammed on the breaks and the stainless steel vehicle came to a dead stop. Both men stared straight ahead, still tense. Dan raised the goggles and looked over to Doc as he spoke in a cracking voice, "Well, this is the place." After that Dan slammed his head into the wheel.
Before Dan could realize it Doc quickly put the crystal back in his pocket. He then promptly looked over to the Ghostbuster at the wheel and decided to test something, "That whole experience was unusual." Dan opened his eyes and sat back up, "What was strange about it? You built this thing, shouldn't you know what time travel feels like?" The fact Dan wasn't alluding to the trip to Crystal Tokyo they just experienced told Doc enough, but he wanted to be sure, "What did you just perceive to happen?" Dan raised an eyebrow at that, "We went from 1895 to 1985 and nearly got hit by a plane. Granted, it wasn't the first time I nearly got hit by a plane, but at least I was on the ground for that." Dan looked over and saw the look on Doc's face. He knew that was a strange statement, "Never mind. You wouldn't believe me if I told you."
He didn't remember. Dan and Rini explained what happened to him while he was in Tokyo and told Doc about the encounter at the airport including it nearly being hit by two grounded aircraft. The fact the man now didn't remember telling him told him the crystal's memory blocking capability was now at work, a seamless transition from when they left 1895 and arriving in 1985 like it never happened. Dan not remembering what just happened made Doc feel a pit grow in his stomach. He knew this was going to be a rough ride for this man but he prayed he didn't blame him for this. He didn't want to do this, but it looked as though it had to be done. Nevertheless, it didn't absolve Doc of the guilt he felt in his part in it…
