AN: sorry for the delay! It was my mother's birthday and I had to attend. I will try to bring an early chapter because of this.
"Hey, who do think will win?"
"Jack, of course, his opponent is just a kid."
"That 'kid' has beaten an adult magician before."
"So what? Jack has done so as well, nobody can touch him with his telekinesis."
"Can't frisk do the same if he copies Jack?"
Generally, civilians don't study magic beyond simple summoning magic, since they trust the knights of the kingdom.
"Even if he copies Jack, wouldn't he be worse than Jack at using his power?"
"Idiots! I am a magician and know the prowess Frisk has, it's not only copying your magic, he copies every move you do with it! It's like he nullifies magic, this means…"
Slash!
Clank!
"Ugh, you little…!" Jack barely blocked with his metal staff
"As long as he has mana can bring the fight physically!"
"Aren't mages weak at close combat? A knight only needs to get close before they complete their spells."
"Well, that would be true…but Frisk got a blessing from the god of love, giving him the strength of an adult coupled with his." the apprentice mage who was 18 said
"Jeez, so he's a knight that's immune to magic."
"Er… not exactly, on a 2v1 he wouldn't be able to do such a thing."
Frisk's hearing got better once he absorbed the soul of Asgore, he heard many similar conversations.
"Where did you get such a strong dagger?!"
"It's just a gardening knife…"
"Tch!"
Jack kicked Frisk to get out of his range, but no matter how he used his telekinesis Frisk followed suit at the same time.
It's just a matter of time before he loses.
"Hey, your royalty, having trouble?" Frisk said innocently as he tried to stab Jack's shoulders, if he were to die he'd be in deep trouble.
Jack barely dodged, but he didn't get out unscathed, he got a cut, not a deep one but it was a start.
Just as Jack looked like he was about to explode… he took a deep breath.
"Nice try." he was back to his usual cold self. He threw out another kick which Frisk took.
He has more range than me because of his size, I'll stab his leg next time-
Fwam!
"Woah!" the stadium gave cheers
Frisk was currently getting strangled.
But how did Jack do it? Simple he blinded Frisk with his blood. While Jack had blood on his shoulder Frisk didn't, so even if he copied and adjusted his trajectory to make up for his size he still got blinded by the blood.
"Give up," Jack said simply, even if he didn't give up Jack would win at this rate.
Frisk, who had his eyes instinctively Squinted after the events of his escapades, opened them as wide as he could, dispersing the blood around.
Frisk broke through the psychic grasp and countered with his own.
Woah, it feels different when I widen my eyes… it's so easy to overwhelm him… is it because of the soul?
By using psychic energy, Frisk compressed air, creating a gust of wind that forced Jack to close his eyes, at that moment he tackled Jack and put his hand over Jack's eyes. Additionally, he used telekinesis to control Jack's movements.
"The winner is…!"
"Nobody!"
Boom!
" We are being attacked by a beast!" one of the knights said once he saw the middle of the stadium filled with grotesque vines, with the thickness of an arm and full of thorns.
"Howdy! I have to thank you, I never would've been able to get Toriel's soul if it weren't for you~"
Frisk stopped restraining Jack and they both backed away from Flowey.
He followed me here…?
"A Goat beast? It's so small…" Jack asked with intrigue.
"Looks like it."
"Tch, Knights are useless huh… sigh. Step out of the way, I'll take it down."
"Alright." Frisk wasn't about to help someone who tried to kill him, it was also obvious that he was trying to get famous.
However, the exit to the stadium was blocked… Frisk looked back with an angry expression.
"Let me leave."
"Why would I?"
"You don't want to fight both of us."
"Oh? But what if I do?"
"Then I'll just annoy you until you let me out."
"...I'll kill you before you can annoy me."
"The beast is really young, and despite that… It can already talk…" the more he observed the anthropomorphic goat covered in Vines, the more he wanted to experiment and defeat it.
"Listen up, make a shield for us both."
"Who said I'm following your commands?"
"Tch… do you want to die?"
Ugh, this is terrible, in the first place I have an inkling of what happened, so Toriel died to Flowey…
"I don't mind dying," Frisk said with a playful smirk.
"You think life is a joke?!" Jack once again lost his cool. Frisk simply shrugged.
Huh? I can't load… perhaps I have to go to Mt. ebott. But… this guy won't let me. I want Toriel to live…
"Hey, we have to at least stall for time, you think you can make a barrier?" Frisk asked.
"Tsk, unlike you, I've had this power since I can remember. Of course, I can-"
Slash!
Frisk slashed a vine with the gardening knife, the plant was cut like butter. Jack wasted no more words and made a barrier, preventing any other vines to wrap around them, he also took some blood from his shoulder and smeared it onto his thumb.
Was that summoning magic? It was clear to Frisk that he lacked funds for the spells he needed to fully use summoning magic.
"I summon thee…"
Caw!
A raven beast had appeared. It had 3 eyes, one dark blue, one yellow, and one purple, besides that, it had no abnormalities.
"Don't push yourself too much, disturb his attacks and support. Stay out of its range."
The raven nodded as it went up to the sky.
What would be its weakness… since Flowey most likely absorbed Toriel's soul, fire is probably not it…
Healthy plants don't catch on fire easily because of the water inside them, making them have a higher ignition temperature.
Frisk sent a telekinesis-infused garden knife to deal with Flowey. Any physical damage was quickly regenerated, however…
That's healing magic, it's totally Toriel's soul… we need one big blow.
"Do you-"
"Yes," Jack responded, almost as if he could read Frisk's mind. "Just distract him."
Frisk nodded, he went outside the barrier, and immediately Vines sprung out from the ground, completely impaling missing Frisk. The crow had prevented the hit.
Frisk rushed towards Flowey, he dodged the numerous vines and pellets that tried surrounding him.
Slash!
"Ugh, not bad-"
Frisk was not kind enough to wait for him to finish speaking, sneaking another slash toward Flowey's eye.
Panicked Flowey surrounded his body in vines and healed before Frisk took his other eye.
However, he started to feel suffocated and then eventually cramped, he was being crushed!
Jack, whose eyes had a purple glint, had his hands clasped. Frisk decided to copy him, doubling the effect that it had on flowey.
"!" Jack was surprised Frisk had that much mana but didn't mind it as he focused on the more important matter.
"Now! I command thee! Pierce!"
Shank! X3
Both Jack and Frisk ended up with stab wounds in their chest. The crow detected this and created a barrier after cutting off the vines.
"Cough! How did he attack us without seeing us? It's not like he can see our souls…" once someone is covered in mana their soul is hidden, sensing mana is impossible unless…
"Is sensing mana its innate ability?" Jack pondered out loud, despite dying he was rather calm.
"Hah! Go ahead, struggle! Chara was right, you should all die!" Flowey's expression was deranged and wild.
Chara?! What?
"Oh dear, it can speak, hello? Can you hear me?" a female voice said. "Sorry, it took me a while to get down here," she said after seeing Flowey not responding.
Frisk looked up and saw that the one speaking was none other than the crown princess Audrey!
"How did you get here?!"
"It's. a. Secret~." she teasingly said. "Did you know that it was me who organized this tournament? I did it to draw out talented magicians, of course, i couldn't just let 'accidents' happen-"
Flowey took a page out of Frisk's book and hit before Audrey could finish talking. However…
"Don't you know that is impolite~? You truly are a beast, what a pitiful existence, you don't even know manners…" she clasped her hands.
Rumble…!
The ground lit up, the entire arena was covered in yellow light.
Did I stop bleeding? The wound is still there but I'm not bleeding, I live another day.
"Perhaps you'll be reborn one day." she then took a deep breath. "Subjugation!"
Toriel's stolen soul broke free of Flowey's body, turning back into a flower, and releasing an enormous amount of mana into the air.
It also made the soul of Asgore free. It didn't hurt, but Frisk felt bad about it.
It feels… like that soul should've stayed with me. In the first place, I gained the soul to escape the underground, so I don't need it at all.
Frisk's mutations were also gone, making him feel weaker than usual.
Eventually, the knights cut through the vines and took Frisk and Jack to a hospital
However, neither of them was too pleased with this…
"Ugh… why do I have to share the room with this commoner."
"Hey, the feelings' mutual buddy!"
"Sorry son… it was not only you two who were injured, as of right now, but the hospital is also full… besides, our healer was on vacation…" Jack's dad said with a sheepish expression.
"Tsk. "
"Please forgive my son for his rudeness." he gently smiled.
2 weeks later Frisk was discharged, and his body healed faster than Jack's allowing him to leave, there seemed to be poison on Flowey's Vines, but they didn't get affected because of Audrey's magic.
Now, before I reset to save Toriel, I need a grimoire for summoning.
The magic Frisk used was merely a copy of what other mages used to maintain fresh meat. There were other spells he could use, but those vital connections with royalty, which he didn't precisely possess.
He initially wanted to wish for the title of an earl to save the orphanage and gain some social standing, but that would take several years. First, he would save Toriel, and even perhaps learn something from her before winning the tournament.
But before he reset, he purchased a summoning grimoire from a library, spent a couple of weeks learning the basics, and finally decided to test it out.
The author of this grimoire was named "One"
Frisk caught a cat and said
"I subdue thee!"
For creatures without any means of resistance, subduing them was enough. Anything with mana would need to be weakened first and anyone with a soul will need a contract. Since beasts have souls but are still feral, there is almost no summons for them. Of course, married mages would often use this
"I command thee!"
The cat followed the commands of Frisk. Be it jumping or slashing at the bark of a tree.
He had learned more spells, but they were only supplementary to subdue and command.
Frisk sneaked back to Mt. Ebott and went to a familiar place.
