AN: hehe, another chapter for ya, i just was too excited to write this one! after all, this is the goal of our protagonist, what will he find? can he beat the fox? will he spend another reset? find out!

...

The world was white and black.

Frisk prepared a wind weapon, but before it could be used the Fox started going for his neck, this forced Frisk to let out a pseudo wind surge with inventory magic (magic branch of summoning) forcing the beast to close its eyes for a brief moment. During this gap, Frisk threw a wind knife, this shape was easier to manifest since he knew the spell wind cuts.

Snarl!

Tsk, it tricked me… Frisk was slowly making wind weapons as he eyed the giant fox, it closed its eyes deliberately to trick Frisk, instead, it covered its actions with illusions, countered with a roar of the same magnitude, and tried to pounce again. Frisk coated his body with mana to resist the pounce and tried to cut the mouth of the fox.

Clink!

The dagger flew out of Frisk's hand without him noticing. This was because the fox used illusions to make its moves slower than they were, Frisk couldn't find a tempo, and the dark space added to his confusion. The result was that one of Frisk's eyes was slashed with a paw.

It doesn't hurt as much, I guess I have to thank Jack for that. Frisk couldn't help but take a page out of the fox's book and didn't resist the urge to scream. The fox, seemingly grinning, pounced one final time.

Shnk!

"Hehe, do you like the bear trap? Or should I call it fox trap? It doesn't matter." Frisk had been focusing most of his attention on these bear traps because the wind was hardly visible in a dark environment it caught the fox off-guard. He gathered wind for another knife and as he stabbed it in the eye, he used a pseudo-wind surge on the weapon itself as well as the bear traps, incapacitating the fox.

Both of them panted for a while, the Fox knew that it had lost, it tried to submit to Frisk, it was truly smart

"Now… " Frisk followed the compass, it pointed to the beast. He looked at it with rage. The thing ate my mom? She's still alive!

Frisk acted sneakily, he retrieved his weapon and began cleaning it, as soon as he was done…

Slash!

[-8129241!]

He opened its stomach but only found soldier equipment inside the beast.

Huh? Where is she? Did the compass- what?! The compass stopped working. Frisk dropped to his knees as his world shattered. He started remembering what he knew about beasts.

"Beasts don't have souls, my child."

"Jack Murasaki! The only mage who has ever tamed a beast!"

" You truly are a beast, what a pitiful existence"

"I fear for humanity's extinction… these beasts shouldn't be so numerous, nor would they have a soul in the older times. "

Poof!

Frisk became a small pup and tears flowed down as he rushed toward the fox beast… The only reason it gave up was most likely because she could remember him! At the last moment, the fox manifested another illusion.

"I'm proud… you grew up a good mage."

"How did this happen?" Frisk struggled but came back to his human form.

"I don't know, but… kill any beasts … there's no saving… don't trust the church…" The fox- no, Frisk's mother, Usunn, passed away. She was killed by her son, who was trying to find her to no end.

Was this fair? Why did things like this happen? If only he could turn back time…

I will save my mother… no.

I have to.

A yellow star appeared

[hearing the plucking of the strings of fate fills you with determination.]

"Not yet."

..

.

Kalo kingdom.

Frisk had cut and dyed his hair back to normal, then hid the horns by reverting his transformation. It seemed that the curse of turning into a pup was helpful once again.

Frisk knocked on the door to the Murasaki household. He was naturally welcomed by the maids, then greeted by the lord.

"Hello lord Murasaki, I want to issue-"

"Don't tell me anything else, I know what my son did, I want to settle this discretely and peacefully…" The noble was corrupt, but Frisk did not care anymore.

"I want everything you can offer to me about beasts, monsters, and humans."

"Uh…"

"Just give me access to your family library. I naturally will not reveal any information and can confirm it with a contract, after all, that is your family's specialty right?"

"...are you sure you are 10?"

"I turn 11 around Halloween," Frisk replied

"...hmm, very well, but you will have to pay 10 silver per entry. I'll hire you for various-"

Bam!

A pile of gold appeared out of thin air, this was 100 gold coins!

"See you later." Frisk spent some time to find the library, but eventually, he found it.

Origin of beasts.

The origin of beasts is wildly debated, some say they were an ancient race that got the wrath of a god, while many think it was a direct creation of the goddess of hate, Amanda. Beasts are extremely dangerous, they can absorb magic with their mouths and their fangs and claws drain magic from the affected area.

Beasts can be born from the death of humans, they are composed of 50% mana and 50% physical matter….

The Origin of Humanity

The origin of humanity is still a mystery to this day, there are countless theories, religious and pragmatic, rational and wacky, but most believe they were made by the Gods. humans are logical and rational beings, though they can be driven by emotions. Humans are born from humans, (duh) though, in some cases, humans can be born from monsters. Humans are 30% magic 70% physical matter…

Origin of monsters

The origin of monsters is from the goddess of hate, Amanda, they were created to make conflict with humans, they are cunning and callous creatures that will scheme at any turn. Monsters are 70% magic and 30% physical matter, though there are cases of monsters being made entirely of magic

Monsters are born from…

Frisk absorbed himself into the details, and he tried to find a correlation between these three races, at first glance, Beasts and monsters were more related than humans to beasts or monsters. But upon closer inspection, there were some common things.

Despite not having rationality, Beasts could understand the concept of benefits as much as humans could, they had survival instincts as well. In the monster book, it said "Monsters do not care about riches, as long as they can make someone suffer." this was a book written by the church of Synil. He'd have to look deeper into it.

Second, beasts are born from the death of humans. At first glance, this could mean many things, the corpse could incubate the young of a beast, or it could feed them, but from the revelation that his mother became a beast, the origin of such creatures likely comes from the soul.

Third and last. All of these species can eat magic to varying degrees. Beasts can directly eat magic attacks to replenish themselves, but at the same time, it can become dangerous if the target has too much mana to spare, (such as Frisk due to his blessing). Monsters created food made of mana and naturally used magic in all aspects of life. Humans could eat food made of magic, but usually, humans ingested non-magical food due to not having the methods.

It was as if beasts were the middle ground between humans and monsters. But the appearance of monsters in history was much earlier than that of beasts. Beasts only appeared after the human-monster war.

"In short, the war created beasts, whether it was humans or monsters it is not known," Frisk concluded. He browsed through their magic selection but found nothing of much interest, the real magic studies probably were not in the library.

Frisk still had plenty of gold left, he used it to rent an apartment with basic magic facilities such as an unbreaking enchantment and mana funneling, saturating the air with mana.

Frisk created a circle and decided to create a very ambitious symbol. However, he failed and the backlash of the magic circle was amnesia. He couldn't remember his idea.

Frisk decided to go to Jack's manor, his great achievement of taming and summoning a beast granted him the title of Viscount, he was the pride of his family, but he also had many eyes on him, the fact that he could throw Frisk into a mount Ebott was because they let him, hence Frisk could look for compensation.

"..." Jack and Frisk looked at each other in awkward silence. "Ok, how did you get out alive?" Jack couldn't help but ask.

"I was lucky," Frisk didn't beat around the bush. "I want to research magic with you."

"Huh? What makes you think-"

"I have blackmail." Frisk replied bluntly. " besides, you're lacking many results after taming one beast."

"... come in, and don't touch anything." Jack relented.

Frisk followed Jack to a research room, it was neat, the opposite of what you would expect from a male teenager.

"Can your beast understand human speech?" Frisk asked as Jack nodded and read a book about summoning.

"She's a very obedient crow, don't be scared of her," Jack said.

"Her? So, you know it's her even though beasts have no gender?" Frisk eyes shined with red energy.

Jack closed his book. "... it behaves like a girl." Jack gave a lame excuse.

"Oh really? Does it like to dress up? Put on makeup? Come on, I think we both know what happened."

"You're lucky this is soundproof, she's my sister, I'm searching for a way to turn her back, perhaps you have a family-"

"I don't." Frisk didn't consider his father at all. "What I want is to know what caused the beasts to appear. I already know they appeared around the human-monster war, since then, multiple beasts appeared all over the land."

"Well, it's pretty obvious that monsters created beasts right? A last-ditch effort or simply revenge for losing the war." Jack reasoned.

From what I've seen, they don't know much about beasts though… unless they kept that from the commoners?

Frisk would have to look at it. He continued researching magic with Jack for 2 days and 3 nights. They were both wasted afterward.

They both learned of the void, a place that exists inside everyone's soul, some call it the emptiness of one's soul. It increased as the older one grew, but there have been cases of the void increasing in response to emotional trauma. They had also learned that the void of one soul was connected to a bigger void. Beasts a heart-shaped void instead of a soul.

"Not bad, with your dedication, you shouldn't even feel threatened by my talent. You have a passion for magic, I just use magic as a tool." Frisk praised. "Which brings me to this question, did you throw me there on your own, or was it someone ordering you?"

"...I cannot disclose information," Jack said.

"I see." Frisk got outside. His mother's last words weighed on his mind.

Don't trust the church… I need to get rid of the curse.
