AN: I'm sorry for not uploading for such a long time, to be honest, it was a combination of getting ready for my finals, then getting accepted abroad and the paperwork for that, along with a lack of motivation to write in general, my other personal stories haven't been advancing much either. but here you go.
...
Frisk walked towards the waterfall area, but then…
"Human! Allow me to show you my great moves!" Papyrus declared.
"Papyrus! I like your puzzles, so can we not fight?" Frisk said, somewhat truthfully, if he wasn't in danger or had time, he would probably enjoy the puzzles. After all, he is 10.
"Oh wow! It is rare to see another puzzle lover! I can't wait to talk to you about them after I capture you!"
[!]
[Papyrus blocks the way!]
Frisk smirked. " Come on, don't be that way, we can talk things out right?"
This is the new magic I've developed through elemental magic! Frisk started floating in the air!
Bones sprouted from the ground, but they couldn't reach Avery.
"Human! Your goals are painfully obvious! Yes! You are too timid to approach me! Worry not, the great Papyrus will give you a chance to be his friend! After I've captured you…"Papyrus replied.
Papyrus then conjured blue bones, but they easily went past Frisk. Too bad Sans had already warned-
Ping!
Bam!
[hahahaha!]
"You're blue now! That's my special attack."
"Interesting!" Frisk laughed heartily. Who am I to be overconfident? That is the last thing a mage should do. This spell instantly put me at a disadvantage, either I keep up the wind magic, or I move with doubled weight. "Could you teach me how to do that?"
"W-well, it is normal to seek my great knowledge! But I'll tell you, I have high standards!"
[papyrus is thinking of how to teach you]
… does she read minds?
Frisk dodged and jumped the bone patterns as he periodically used "flight" and wind surge to jump over the bones. Even so, one of the bones battered him and knocked him down, thankfully, the attack stopped. He panted as he tried to think of a way to end this fight.
I'm in a passive situation right now… but he seems unable to continue the magic, after all, the more magic you use, the more your mana circulation slows down.
Frisk casted wind surge under papyrus' boots, it was surprisingly effective. Papyrus went head-first into the snow.
"What do you think?" Frisk showed a mischievous smile.
"Very good human! But not good enough!" Papyrus laughed as he sent out more bones. Frisk got hit twice.
Papyrus removed some snow from himself.
"How about this, you use your strongest attack, and if I'm still standing, you gotta teach me about that blue attack." Frisk's curiosity coupled with the fact that he was essentially unkillable gave him guts.
His magic is very cheeky.
"Very well human! If you can stand after this- hey!" just as Papyrus was charging his special attack, a dog took it. "That's my special attack, give it back! Wait, no!" the dog simply ran away with the bone in its mouth.
[papyrus is a clown.]
Frisk: "..."
"Oh well, I'll just use a normal attack. h"
Oh? He can't use it again?
Frisk successfully used flight to power through Papyrus' final attack, though just barely, he had to eat Toriel's pie to restore his health.
I wonder why monster food is so good at healing magic injuries? He munched every bit of pie he could before he spoke to Papyrus.
"So… are we ok?" Frisk probed.
"Very well human! From now we shall be cool buddies." Papyrus declared
"Uhm, what is that?" Frisk was confused and curious. "Woah!"
"Let me show you!" Papyrus dragged Frisk to his house. "Cool buddies hang out with their other cool buddies!"
Well, I do need somewhere to spend the night, this reset is for research purposes anyways. i
Frisk smiled. "So are we going to play in your house?"
"Why yes! The next time we can go to yours!" Frisk couldn't help but flinch at that notion, he didn't have a home, more like a room for himself, and he couldn't invite others there.
"Y-yeah sure," Frisk replied. "I'm getting a little cold, let's get in!"
Frisk excused himself to the bathroom.
[are you homeless?]
"What? No, I live in the orphanage, originally, it was in danger of being brought down, but right now I feel like it's the least of my worries." Frisk explained.
If I can save Mom, I'm willing to go anywhere with her. He thought. If I somehow can't…It doesn't matter.
Frisk took a deep breath.
Papyrus and Frisk had a good afternoon, papyrus was a sweetheart and even a bit naive. Much like Frisk, his friends were few and his proficiency in magic was great.
"How did your nickname become Papyrus the Great?" Frisk said while he was reading a book that he borrowed from papyrus.
"It was my brother who started it, he may be lazy but he has a very good [air of eyesockets!" Papyrus laughed heartily. "Human! Your circular magic is very interesting! It is very convenient, if I had this I would be able to show even more greatness!"
Monster magic can indeed be used like that, it means that with enough practice and preparation, I can use monster magic! I can even prepare spells from other branches of magic!
Frisk began understanding the connection between the different types of magic. Rather than 7 different disciplines, it should be more like 6 branches all stemming from circle magic! The lines between different types of magic were blurred in his mind.
However, this way of viewing magic was not the only one! Just he used Circle magic as the 'focus' of magic, the seven kingdoms of humanity did this as well!
Of course, this would typically take too much time, but… with the abundance of mana inside and this time loop, I can experiment all about circle magic!
A small pellet manifested, and the circle that Frisk drew started fizzling, it took many more circles, but Frisk created a friendliness pellet!
"?!" Flowey was annoyed that Frisk started to copy his magic, "how is he even doing that…" he grumbled and tried to find a time when Frisk lowered his guard. But that would never happen with a friendly ghost warning him.
"I've had a great day, but that fight earlier made me tired, we humans are not able to wield as much mana as monsters," Frisk said.
"Ah, alright, I'll call you later!"
"Er, sure, bye!" Frisk said as he went outside, the cold greeting him. "Alright, I summon thee, "
"Argh! You…! " Flowey was extremely annoyed as he shivered. Frisk walked with him on his palms, "What do you want?! Why can't you let me go?!"
"Heh, because you're useful, and as long as you're within my control, I can at least defend myself, now hide," Frisk commanded and Flowey went underneath his long-sleeved shirt. They both went past a bunch of monsters, including Sans.
"Hey, you came at a great time, mind joining me in my break?"
"Sorry, but I'm busy."
"Aww, alright," Sans shrugged as he walked away.
Alright, time to go. Frisk pushed his white bang of hair away as he walked towards Waterfall.
