Scary Parodies to Tell in the Dark
Tonight was one of the best nights of the year, Halloween! All the children in the wonderful city of Tokyo would put on a variety of costumes, from the cute and cuddly to the dark and gloomy, from the hand crafted to the store-bought, and go out in groups to go trick-or-treating. Meanwhile, groups of teens and adults were gathering at other people's homes for Halloween parties. Halloween was a night where everyone from the young to the old had one thing on their mind: Fun!
And the Amamiya Family were no exception….
All four members of the family and their pet cat Morgana had a fascination for the holiday. Every Halloween, Ren, Ann, Minato, Kimiko and Morgana would decorate their house with an assortment of halloween decorations, they'd carve faces and patterns on pumpkins and stick candles in them so they'd glow in the dark, and they'd gather around to watch Halloween specials and the occasional horror flick. This holiday, and by extension the entire month of October, was one that the family looked forward to every single year.
We begin this tale with Minato, Kimiko, and Morgana. The three of them are walking down the street towards their home, the two kids with bagfuls of delicious candy in hand. Even though Minato was 13, around the age when most kids would stop trick-or-treating, he decided to go to keep his nine year old sister Kimiko company, he had a chance to see everyone else's costumes as well as the decorations on other people's houses, and because it was the one time of the year when he can get free candy. As for costumes, Minato was wearing a mad scientist costume, Kimiko was dressed in an angel costume, and Morgana was wearing a small superhero cape.
"I can't wait to get this thing off," Morgana thought to himself as he looked back at the cape tied to him.
"We made out like bandits this year, Minato," Kimiko said, eyeing the contents of her bag, "Thanks for coming with me."
"You kidding, I love this time of year," Minato said, "The costumes, the decorations, the teeth-rooting sweets. There's just nothing like it!"
"I can't wait to stink my teeth into some of these candies," Kimiko said as she reached in to look for a piece of candy, "There was a Chuckles Bar that I had my eye on."
"Remember, Kim," Minato warned, "Mom and dad have to check the candy before we eat them in case someone 'did something' to them."
"Like what?" Kim asked.
"Some folks get their jollies from giving kids drugs rather than candy," Minato explained.
"Well, I don't know if you've heard, but candy is my drug," Kimiko said, licking her lips, causing Minato to laugh.
The two kids and one cat kept walking until they reached their house, where coincidentally, they saw Ren and Ann arriving home after attending a neighborhood Halloween party. Ren was dressed as a vampire while Ann was dressed as a zombie cheerleader. The two parents were getting out of their car when they saw their children and cat approaching.
"Hey, parents!" Minato called.
"Kids, hi," Ann said, happy to see her kids.
"Did you kids have fun trick or treating?" Ren asked, also happy to see his kids.
"We sure did, dad," Kimiko said as she and Minato showed their parents their candy, "Look at all the candy we got!"
"Nice job, kids," Ann congratulated, "Just make sure you let your father and I check it before you decide to eat it."
"Why do people drug Halloween candy anyway?" Kimiko asked.
"Honestly Kim, this world is so messed up, even I don't know," Ren answered.
"How was the party, dad?" Minato asked.
"A lot of fun, Minato," Ren said, "Everyone loved my ghost story."
"And I won a cash prize for best costume," Ann said.
"I knew you'd be the prettiest woman there," Ren said as he gave his wife a kiss on the cheek before whispering into her ear, "Maybe later I can give you a prize of my own, my sexy little ZILF."
"I'll be sucking more than just blood from you tonight, my handsome vampire," Ann seductively whispered back before turning their attention back towards their kids and cat, "Come on kids, let's go inside so we can inspect your candy."
"The sooner I can eat my candy the better," Kimiko said.
"Remember, Kim, don't binge it all in one sitting," Ren said.
"I know, I know," Kimiko said with a sigh.
As the family approached the front door, they noticed that it was open ajar.
"What the hell?" Ren asked, "Who left the door open?"
"I thought we locked it before we left," Ann said.
"You guys don't think someone broke in, do you?" Minato asked.
"I'll protect you, Lady Ann," Morgana said as stood in front of his female owner.
"I'll walk in first just in case," Ren said as he opened the door and stepped inside his house, with the first thing he was met with as the lights suddenly turned back on was...
OOGA-BOOGA-BOOGA!
To Ren's surprise, and by extension his wife, kids, and cat, he came face-to-face with the Sakamotos, the Kitagawas, the Mishimas, the Watanabes, the Yajimas, and the Tanakas, all dressed up in scary costumes, and all yelling, screaming, and jump-scaring in order to get a fright out of Ren and his family. The only person that seemed to be missing from this group was Mai Mishima. When the group stopped trying to scare the Amamiyas, the family of four, plus their cat, were left chuckling and giggling to themselves.
"Hey, what gives?" asked Ryuji, who is currently dressed as a scary clown, "I thought this stuff would scare the pants off you five."
"Yeah," Futaba chimed in, dressed as a zombie bride, with Yuuki dressed as a zombie groom, "I spent hours on this costume."
"Don't get us wrong, you all put a lot of work into your costumes," Ann said, "But it's going to take a lot more than cheap jump scares to spook us."
"Hey, where's Mai," Minato asked as he walked towards the bathroom, "I thought she'd be with you guys."
Minato opened the bathroom door to find Mai sitting on the toilet, wrapped up in a strait jacket, hair disheveled, and make up on her face to make it look like she got beat up. Mai just looked at Minato as she stared at home with a slasher smile. Minato meanwhile, looked totally unaffected.
"Oh, hey there, Minato," Mai said creepily, only for Minato to shut the door in an unamused manner.
"Found her," Minato said bluntly.
"Did I scare him?" Mai asked from within the bathroom, "Someone please tell me I scared him."
As Minato rejoined the rest of the group, Ryuji walked up to Ren to talk to him.
"Come on, Ren," Ryuji said, "At least tell me that we scared you a little bit."
"Nope," Ren said with a smile and the shake of his head, "We've seen a lot of horror movies, so we're pretty much hardened at this point to anything regarded as 'scary'."
"Well I bet we can find something that'll scare you all out of your wits," Daisuke, who was currently dressed as an evil wizard, said, "And we'll do anything to do so."
"Anything, eh?" Ren asked, "Okay, how about this. To show you how hardened I am with this kind of stuff, let's all gather around in a spooky location and tell scary stories."
"Oh, I like the way you think, Uncle Ren," Himari said, dressed as a zombie.
"And whoever can last the longest without running out of said location crying for their mommies is declared the bravest person in this friend group, and the king, or queen, of Halloween," Ren concluded.
"Let's do this!" Ryuji said with a fist pump as everyone agreed.
"While that sounds like fun, I think I'd rather stay here and eat some of my candy," Kimiko said.
"Yeah, I think I'll stay here too," Minato said, "Besides, the new Clubhouse of Fear (Treehouse of Horror) is on in five minutes and I don't want to miss it."
"I'll stay here with the kids and Morgana, sweetie," Ann said as she started examining Kimiko and Minato's candy to make sure that it was safe for consumption, "You go have a good time."
"Thanks love," Ren said as he gave his wife another kiss on the cheek, "I'll be back soon so we can have alone time, promise."
"I'll be waiting," Ann said with a wink as she went back to examining her kids' candy and Ren turned to face his 21 friends.
"Alright Ren, let's get out of these costumes so we can at least do our storytelling in comfort," Futaba said.
"Yeah, these boots are seriously hurting my feet," Hayato, who was dressed as Frankenstein's Monster, said.
"Sounds fair," Ren said.
"So, Ren," Ryuji said, "You said we're going to a different location to tell our stories. What location did you have in mind?"
All Ren did in response to Ryuji's question was give a wicked grin.
Ren, the Sakamotos, the Yajimas, the Watanabes, the Kitagawas, the Tanakas, and the Mishimas, now dressed in their street clothes and wielding flashlights, were seen approaching the front gates to a rundown and abandoned harbor.
"The Yobo-Yobo Harbor?" Yuuki asked, "Didn't this place close down in the 1930s after a freak accident happened to one of the workers in one of the warehouses here?"
"Yup," Ren said, "And that's exactly where we're going to be telling our scary stories."
"While it is a good idea, Ren, there's just one problem," Makoto said, "How are we going to get in? That gate has been locked good and tight for decades."
Further examination shows that the gate is locked with a padlock and chain.
"Which only means that the lock is probably good and rusted at this point," Ren said, "Did somebody remember to grab the bolt cutters?"
"Right here," Yusuke said as he handed Ren the tool.
With the bolt cutters in hand, Ren cut the chain, unlocking the door, and allowing the group of 22 to enter the abandoned harbor.
"So where is this warehouse that this dude died in?" Kas asked.
"Over there," Ren said as he pointed at a warehouse that had the number 004 written on the door.
"Great, let's hurry up, tell our stories, and get out of here," Sumire said, "This place is giving me the creeps."
"It's not so bad here," Hotaru said, "I might consider coming back here if I ever want to use this place to shoot a scene for a short film that I have planned."
"This probably is a bad time to mention this," Kaito said, "But rumor has it that the ghost of that worker who died still haunts that very warehouse."
"I'm outta here!" Mana said as she tried to run away only for Mitsu to stop her.
"There's nothing to be afraid of Mana," Mitsu said, "Mom and dad are here to protect us, and besides, all that nonsense about a ghost haunting that warehouse is just an urban legend."
"You know the last time I was convinced something was an urban legend, I almost drowned!" Daisuke said, referring to his encounter with the Rikugien Leviathan all those years ago.
"It's not late to back out of this game of ours, you all," Ren said.
"We'll have you know that we can last just as long in that warehouse as you can, Ren," Ryuji shouted.
"Alright then," Ren said as he led everyone towards the warehouse, "Let's go."
"You sure it's a good idea to be wandering around here, Ren?" Shiho asked, "This technically counts as trespassing."
"It's not like there's anyone here who can stop us," Hifumi said.
As they walked towards the warehouse, Daisuke felt something hold onto his arm tightly.
"Aw, Shiho, babe, there's nothing to be afraid of," Daisuke said, thinking its his wife holding onto his arm.
"Sorry, Uncle Daisuke, I'm just a little creeped out being here," Riku said, revealing himself to be the one grabbing onto his arm, causing the brunette man to roll his eyes.
The group finally made it to the warehouse, and Ren opened the front door. He let everyone inside the warehouse before stepping in himself and closing the door behind him. Using the flashlights to get a good look around, the warehouse had some old forklifts, hanging light fixtures on the ceiling, there was an old industrial sized fan in the corner, and of course an abundance of crates, some of which were stacked on top of one another. Once all 22 people entered the building, they went to the center of the warehouse where they all sat in a circle, ready to tell and listen to scary stories.
"Well, this is it," Haru said, "What story do you have to tell, Ren?"
"I actually don't have any stories to tell," Ren said.
"Then why bother dragging us here?" Futaba asked, annoyed.
"You all want to try and scare me so badly, you all get the privilege of telling the stories," Ren said, "That is, if you can come up with something scary."
"Pick me," Ichiro volunteered, "I've got a story about a mansion and a mysterious killer,"
"Let me guess, the butler did it?" Makoto asked.
"Damn," Ichiro said under his breath.
"I'd like to throw my hat in the ring, Uncle Ren, if that's okay," Riku offered.
"Bro, if you're going to tell us the story about how you got locked in the library after hours, that's not scary," Mai said.
"Actually," Riku began, "If you look at things from my perspective, you'll find that it's quite the terrifying…"
But then, Nariko cut Riku off.
"I hate to interrupt, Riku, but I'd like to have a go first, if that's okay with you," Nariko said.
"Oh, sure," Riku said with a blush, his crush on the Watanabe girl showing, "Go on, Nariko, you have the floor."
"Great," Nariko said with a smile before getting a more serious and sinister look on her face, "Get ready to run home in urine soaked trousers, everyone, because I've got a real bone chiller…and it's all true!"
Nariko cleared her throat and began to tell her 'true' scary story, "So one night, a lot like this one…"
Nariko's Story: Based on Scream
Inside the Watanabe Residence, the phone is ringing. Nariko, who is currently home alone with her brother Kaito, who is currently in his room, is making popcorn on the stove in the kitchen, leaves said kitchen to go and answer it.
"Watanabe Residence, Nariko speaking," Nariko answered.
"Hello," came a deep and gravelly voice.
"Who is this?" Nariko asked.
"Who am I talking to," the voice said again.
"Buzz off scammer!" Nariko scolded as she hung up the phone. But as she was going back to the kitchen to check on her popcorn, the phone started ringing again. Reluctantly, Nariko answers the phone again, "You're not getting my parents credit card information, dude! So leave me alone!"
"I'm not a scammer," The voice said, "I just dialed the wrong number and I wanted to apologize."
"It's all good, sir," Nariko said cheerily before the voice started talking again.
"I also was looking for someone to talk to," the voice said, "I'm actually very lonely, see?"
"Aww, I'm sorry," Nariko said, feeling bad for the person on the other line, "Our phone is cordless so maybe I can talk to you while I make my popcorn."
Nariko walked back into the kitchen and went to the stove, mixing the kernels in the pot with one hand and talking to the mysterious stranger on the phone with the other one.
"Usually when someone makes popcorn they're about to have a movie night," The voice said.
"Precisely," Nariko said as she stopped mixing the kernels, "The Super Marco Bros. Movie just came out on streaming and I want to watch it."
"Sounds like a fun evening," the voice said, "I take it you're a Super Marco Bros. fan."
"I've played just about every game, sir," Nariko said.
"What's your favorite Marco game?" The voice asked.
"Super Marco Universe all the way (Super Mario Galaxy)!" Nariko said.
"Nice," The voice said, "I'm more of a Super Marco 64 guy myself, but your pick isn't bad either."
"Yeah, that game has its moments," Nariko said as she went to each door in the house to make sure it was locked. After that, she went into the living room to turn on the T.V.
"So, you have a boyfriend?" the voice asked.
"Mmm, no," Nariko said innocently
Suddenly, Riku let out a depressed sigh, causing Nariko to stop telling her story. Her mentioning that she didn't have a boyfriend made Riku wish he could confess his true feelings for her, but he currently lacked the courage and the words to do so.
"Is there something wrong, Riku?" Nariko asked her friend, unaware of the crush he has on her.
"No," Riku said sadly, "Everything is fine."
"You look a little sad, Riku," Yuuki said looking at his son, "Is everything alright?"
"I…I think I'm just going to take a walk," Riku said.
"I'll come with you son," Yuuki said, "This neighborhood isn't safe at night."
"If you two leave you're out of our little contest," Himari said.
"It's fine," Riku said, "Come on dad, let's go."
"Alright," Yuuki said as he guided his depressed son out of the warehouse.
"Now where was I?" Nariko said before snapping her fingers, "Oh yeah!"
Back in the story, Nariko is seen looking for the Super Marco Bros. Movie on Streamflix while still talking with the stranger on the phone.
"You know something," The voice said, "You never told me your name."
"Why do you want to know?" Nariko asked.
"Because I want to know who I'm looking at," The voice said calmly as Nariko's happy face and cheery demeanor quickly disappeared.
"Excuse me?" Nariko said, nervously.
"I mean, I want to know who I'm talking to," The voice quickly said.
"Uh, bull, you said you want to know who you're looking at," Nariko said as she walked over to the side window of the home to see if there was anyone outside, only to find that there was nobody there, "Well if you are out there, take a look at this!"
And with that, Nariko flipped the bird, hoping that whoever was out there saw it.
"Aw, that wasn't very nice," The voice said in a teasing tone, causing Nariko to gulp; there really was someone out there, and he was looking right at her from outside the house, "Naughty children like you who do things like that deserve to be punished!"
"I'm hanging up now!" Nariko cried.
"You'd better not if you know what's good for you, you little brat!" The voice said with loads of venom in his voice. Paralyzed with fear, Nariko had no choice but to comply and keep whoever was talking with her on the phone, "You still there?"
"Uh-huh," Nariko said, on the verge of tears.
"Good, good," The voice said in a calming tone, "Please, don't be afraid. I only want to talk."
"Dude, I am so close to calling the police on you," Nariko threatened.
"In a busy city like this, where crime happens every five minutes, do you really think the cops would make it to you in time?" The voice teased.
"What do you want from me?" Nariko said, a tear rolling down her face.
"To see what your insides look like," The voice said menacingly, causing Nariko to hang up the phone and place it on a nearby table.
"Well, this is how I die," Nariko said sadly, "Time to write a will."
Nariko takes a piece of paper and a pen out from hammerspace and starts to write something down. She writes, 'The Last Will and Testament of Nariko Watanabe', but she stops when she realizes something, "Oh yeah, that's right, I'm 12 and I don't have much to my name."
Before Nariko could do anything else, she heard the doorbell ring, causing her to scream in panic as she dropped her pen and paper. She looks over at the door and asks with a shaky voice, "Who…Who's there?"
When she didn't get an answer, Nariko took a deep breath and grabbed a nearby baseball bat before creeping over to the front door. The doorbell rang again, and with whatever courage Nariko had left, clenching her baseball bat tight, she opened the door and with a scream started beating up whoever was at the door.
"GET OUT OF HERE, DARN YOU!" Nariko yelled, "THIS IS MY HOUSE! YOU WANT TO KILL ME! I'LL FREAKING KILL YOU, YOU SON OF A-"
"NARIKO, STOP!" A familiar voice shouted, "IT'S ME, AUNTIE HIFUMI!"
Nariko stopped swinging her bat around to see Hifumi, wearing a pizza delivery uniform and holding a damaged cheese pizza.
"Oh, sorry Auntie Hifumi," Nariko said embarrassed as she took the pizza from her, "I forgot I ordered a pizza for movie night."
"That'll be ¥3,000 ($20 USD)," Hifumi groaned as she stood up.
"Here you go," Nariko said as she reached into her pocket and handed Hifumi exact change.
"Thanks," Hifumi said, "If you need me, I'll be in the hospital."
As Hifumi hobbled off, Nariko closed and locked the door before taking her pizza into the kitchen. Upon entering the kitchen, she placed the pizza down on the counter when she noticed that her popcorn was still popping and overflowing from the pot. She was about to do something about it when the phone started to ring again, causing her blood to run cold once more. She rushed to answer it, and sure enough there was the voice.
"Pizza, eh?" The voice said, "Not a bad choice for your last meal."
"Look, guy," Nariko said, "You've had your fun, so just leave me alone or else."
"Or else, what?" The voice asked.
"My little brother has seen every Planet Wars movie (Star Wars), and because of that he's good with a sword," Nariko said, "And he's not afraid to drive that sword through that black heart of yours!"
"Your little brother, eh?" The voice asked, "His name wouldn't happen to be Kaito, would it?"
Nariko's heart practically stopped when the voice correctly guessed her brother's name, "How did you know his name?"
"Look out in the backyard and turn on the lights," The voice said.
Reluctantly, Nariko flipped the switch that turned on the lights in the backyard before going over to the back window which had a good view of the backyard. She looked out the window, and there she found Kaito tied to a chair. Whoever was on the phone somehow got Kaito out of his room and trapped him in the backyard.
"Oh my God, Kaito!" Nariko exclaimed.
"Sis, help me!" Kaito yelled.
"Hang on, Kaito, I'm coming!" Nariko said as she prepared to rush out to the backyard to save her brother, but before she could take a single step, the voice came back.
"I wouldn't go out there if I were you," The voice threatened, stopping Nariko dead in her tracks, "If you want to save your brother so badly, why don't we play a game?"
"What are you talking about?" Nariko asked.
"You own a Funtendo Switch, right?" The voice asked, "Get it!"
Nariko rushed over to her Funtendo Switch, took it out of its dock, and brought it over to the window.
"Alright, I have it, now what?" Nariko asked.
"Go into Superb Shatter Dudes Ultimate," The voice instructed, "Go to Shatter game mode, select Neve (Steve from Minecraft) as the CPU character, raise the difficulty to the highest setting, and beat Neve."
"That's it?" Nariko asked.
"That's it," The voice said.
With no other choice, Nariko followed the voice's instructions, selecting Neve and raising the CPU difficulty to the highest rating before selecting her own character, Princess Mango (Princess Peach). With that, the fight to save her and her brother's life began. Nariko played to the best of her abilities, and she managed to knock Neve out of the ring three times, securing her victory. She held the phone up to the Switch so the voice could hear the results.
"The winner is…Princess Mango!" The announcer in the game said.
"Congratulations, you've won," The voice said forebodingly, "Now, onto the next game."
"NO!" Nariko cried.
"But you're doing so well, it'll be quick, I promise," The voice on the phone said, "Go out of Superb Shatter Dudes Ultimate, and go into Marco Cart 8 Deluxe! After that, select 200cc and win first place in every race in the Star Cup."
Once again, at the mercy of the voice on the phone, Nariko went back to the homescreen on her console, selected Marco Cart 8 Deluxe, and picked 200cc in Star Cup before selecting a cart and a racer. With her nerves frayed from the ordeal combined with the huge difficulty spike that 200cc had to offer, Nariko ended up coming in dead last in the race.
"No…" Nariko said sadly.
"Sounds to me like you lost, am I right?" The voice said as Nariko fell silent, "Answer me now or both you and your brother die right now!"
"Yes, I lost," Nariko frowned.
"Well lucky for you, there's a bonus round," The voice said, "But as for Kaito…just watch."
Afraid for her brother's life, she runs to the backyard window and turns the lights back on. There she found Kaito, still tied up to the chair, the same way that she had found him. The brother and sister stare at each other before the sound of a rope getting cut is heard. Kaito looks up to find a large boulder, that was previously suspended in mid-air by the rope descend upon him. Kaito was so scared at his incoming death that he couldn't even scream, and then…
CRUSH!
"KAITO!" Nariko screamed as she saw the boulder crush her only brother. Over the phone, Nariko could hear the voice laughing sadistically.
"You killed him," Nariko said, tears pouring down her face, "You freaking killed him! There was so much we wanted to do together! He didn't do anything to you! You'd better pray that I don't find you, you sick son of a-"
"Calm down, girlie," The voice said, "I'm not done playing with you yet."
"No, we are done playing games," Nariko said.
"Come on, just one more game," The voice said, "You don't even need your Switch for this one because this game is just one simple question; What door am I at?"
"Excuse me?" Nariko said.
"There are two main doors to your house," The voice explained, "The front door and the back door. Answer correctly, and you live."
Nariko stayed quiet, trying to figure out what to do next.
"Give up?" The voice asked, "Let me give you a little hint!"
BOOM!
Nariko gasped as she saw the back door get kicked in, causing her to run to the kitchen to grab a knife. Upon entering the kitchen, she saw that it was filled with smoke from the popcorn that she forgot she had cooking. Before grabbing the knife, she grabbed a fire extinguisher and put out the fire on the stove before turning the knob on the stove to stop the gas flow.
"Safety first kids," Nariko said nonchalantly into the camera before re-entering panic mode by grabbing a knife.
She then creeps out of the kitchen in an attempt to escape the house, no sign of the killer anywhere. Hope sneaks in as she makes it to the front door, but before she could reach the doorknob to open it and leave, she was suddenly thrown to the floor by the killer himself! He was wearing a white mask and a black cloak, and he was wielding a knife! Angry, Nariko gets up, clenching onto her own knife.
"You broke into my home, ruined my night, killed my brother, and you have a really ugly mask!" Nariko shouted, "I don't care if you kill me! As long as I take you down with me!"
"Big words for such a little girl," The killer taunted, "Let's see you put your money where your mouth is!"
"With pleasure!" Nariko yelled as she charged at the killer, knife in hand.
A few minutes later…
Shiho and Daisuke are seen entering their home after a night out, expecting to come home to their children's smiling faces, but are about to be met with something else. Immediately upon entering the house, they find Nariko laying in the middle of the floor, badly beaten and covered in cuts.
"Nariko!" Shiho and Daisuke cried as they ran to their daughter's aide.
"Nariko, talk to me, are you okay?!" Daisuke cried, "What happened here?!"
"Where's your brother?!" Shiho exclaimed, "Please say something!"
Nariko looked at her parents weakly before looking behind them to find the white masked killer approaching them from behind. Raising a finger she pointed to the killer behind them, saying, "Behind…you…"
Shiho and Daisuke looked behind them to see the killer glowering down on them. The killer then raises his knife as the three Watanabes scream in terror.
The story freaked out Shiho and Kaito so much that they both ran out of the warehouse screaming.
"And we were never heard from again," Nariko said, "The end."
"Oh, that was a really scary story, Nariko," Mana shuddered as Mitsu rubbed her back to calm her down.
"Wait a minute," Mai said, "If the killer killed you, Kaito, Uncle Daisuke, and Auntie Shiho, then why are you four still among the living?"
"Huh?" Nariko said.
"Did you not say this was a true story?" Hotaru asked.
"Well, I, uh," went Nariko.
"Also, when would the killer have time to rig up that boulder," Makoto asked.
"And when have I ever worked as a pizza delivery woman," Hifumi asked.
"And you should know that your mother and I would never leave you and Kaito home alone," Daisuke said, "We'd always have your Uncle Ryuta babysit you guys."
"And don't your phones have caller I.D?" Kas asked.
"There are more holes in this story than a wedge of swiss cheese," Mitsu said.
"Nariko, you made the whole thing up, didn't you?" Kas asked.
"Uh…Hey, look over there!" Nariko said as she pointed at a random place in the warehouse, "It's the ghost of that worker guy, run!"
And with that Nariko got up and ran out of the warehouse in embarrassment.
"Well, I guess I should take that as my cue to leave," Daisuke said as he got up to make his leave, "See you guys later."
"See you, Uncle Daisuke," Himari waved.
Winners: Ren, Ryuji, Makoto, Himari, Yusuke, Haru, Mana, Mitsu, Futaba, Mai, Sumire, Ichiro, Kas, Hayato, Hifumi, Hotaru.
Losers: Riku, Yuuki, Shiho, Kaito, Nariko, and Daisuke.
"Well, six down and sixteen more to go," Ren said, "Who wants to go next?"
"I've got one," Himari said, "One that, while it's entirely fiction, is nonetheless very, very scary!"
"Let's hear it, Himari," Hotaru said.
"Alright then," Himari said, "One Mother's Day, there was this 12 year old girl who was looking for the perfect gift to give to her mother…"
Himari's Story: Based on Child's Play
In this story, we see Himari walking down the street when she comes across a toy story where a new Buchimaru-kun plush toy was being advertised.
"Mom loves Buchimaru-kun!" Himari exclaimed, "I've got to get one for her!"
"Hold on!" Ichiro said, causing Himari to briefly stop her story, "Buchimaru-kun is getting involved?"
"Uh, yeah, he's kind of an important part of this story," Himari said.
"I'm out," Ichiro said.
"Me too," Kas said.
"What, you both are leaving?" Ryuji asked.
"In case you forgot both Kas and I grew up with and love Buchimaru-kun," Ichiro said.
"We're not about to have some scary story ruin him for us," Kas chimed in.
"We'll be at Big Bang Burger if you need us," Ichiro said as he and Kas left the warehouse.
"Their loss, because this story is about to get good," Himari said as she continued her tale, "Anyway, the girl entered the toy store hoping to get her mother a Buchimaru-kun plush toy. But little did she know, the night before, there was a break-in, and during that break-in something unusual took place."
Back in the story, we see just what Himari is talking about. The night before, we see a man who stumbled into the store who is bleeding to death from a stab wound.
"Note to self," The man said, "Don't cheat at poker if you're playing with the Yakuza."
The man's stab wound was so great that he fell to his knees in pain. That was when he saw the display of Buchimaru-kun plushies sitting on their shelves. With the last of his energy, the man crawled over to the display, grabbed a plushie, and started to chant a prayer. After the prayer, the man dies and his body mysteriously vanishes. But as for the Buchimaru-kun doll, its eyes start glowing green, as the man's laughter is heard from within it.
Cutting back to the present day, we see Himari entering the toy store and making a beeline for the Buchimaru-kun dolls. But when she got to where they were located, she found that there was none left. She looks at the empty shelves disheartened when the toy store manager walks up.
"Can I help you with anything, young lady?" The manager asked.
"Yeah," Himari said, "I was hoping you'd have some Buchimaru-kun dolls. My mom really loves him and I was hoping to score one for Mother's Day."
"Well you're in luck," The manager said, "I have one in the back."
"For real?" Himari asked excitedly.
"My line," Ryuji said, interrupting the story, causing everyone, Himari included, to shush him.
"Yes," The manager answered, "Yesterday one of the plushies must've fallen from the shelves and gotten dirty, so I picked it up off the floor and took it to my office for cleaning. It's sitting nice and clean in my office now if you want me to go get it."
"I'll take it!" Himari said.
The manager left and a few minutes later, he returned with the Buchimaru-kun plush. With the plushie in her possession, Himari paid for it at the cash register and hurried home to give it to her mom. However, as Himari carried the doll back home over her shoulder, she failed to notice that the doll's eyes started glowing green again.
When Himari came back home, she found Ryuji and Makoto talking in the kitchen, so she put the Buchimaru-kun plush behind her back and walked in, catching her parents' attention.
"Himari, welcome home," Ryuji greeted.
"We missed you, sweetie," Makoto said to her daughter before noticing that she's holding something behind her back, "What do you have behind your back?"
With a smile, Himari revealed the Buchimaru-kun doll, which in turn caused Makoto to smile, "Happy Mother's Day, mom!"
"Oh my gosh, Himari, sweetie," Makoto said as she took the doll from her daughter and hugged it, "I love it so much! Thank you!"
"I knew you'd love it, mom," Himari said, "May you snuggle it in good health."
"Oh I will," Makoto said, not letting go of her gift.
"You did good, Himari," Ryuji said, patting his daughter on the back.
Later that night, after the Sakamotos went to bed, we cut to the master bedroom where we see Ryuji, the big spoon, Makoto, the little spoon, and her Buchimaru-kun plush, the smallest spoon, sound asleep in bed. Everything seems to be alright, when Buchimaru-kun's eyes started glowing green again, only this time, the doll's eyes stay green and it comes to life, the man's spirit fully possessing the doll.
The possessed Buchimaru-kun plush manages to break free from Makoto's grip without waking her up before wandering out of the master bedroom and downstairs into the kitchen to grab a steak knife. The possessed panda plush then leaves the house, steak knife in hand.
The doll is now seen wandering the streets of Kanda when it comes across the church where Hifumi usually practices Shogi. Speaking of Hifumi, she's seen leaving the church at this very moment. The doll approaches the Shogi player and she stops when she sees the doll looking up at her.
"Is that a Buchimaru-kun plush?" Hifumi asked, looking down at the doll, "Poor thing. Some poor child must've lost you, huh?"
Without warning, the plush takes out the knife, scaring Hifumi. But more than scared, she seemed annoyed.
"Come on, don't do this," Hifumi said, holding her hands up and backing away from the possessed doll, "I mean I just got the hell beat out of in the last story, I don't want to get stabbed to death in this- AUGH!"
The doll pounced onto Hifumi and stabbed her to death before she had a chance to finish her sentence. With the deed done, the doll leaves Hifumi's dead body on the church steps before continuing to wander the streets in search of more victims.
The following morning, Makoto awoke to find that her Buchimaru-kun plush is gone! She, Ryuji, and Himari searched all over the house for it, but to no avail.
"It just doesn't make sense," Makoto said, "I mean, a plush toy doesn't just magically come alive and disappear in the dead of night. There's gotta be a place in this house we haven't checked yet."
"Can we take a break first before we continue searching, mom?" Himari asked, "We've been searching all morning and we haven't even had breakfast yet."
"You girls relax," Ryuji said as he went into another room to continue searching, "I'll keep looking for Buchimaru-kun."
With Ryuji continuing the hunt for the missing Buchimaru-kun doll, Makoto and Himari sit down on the couch and turn on the T.V, only for some breaking news report to come on.
"Breaking news," Ohoya said as she came on the T.V, "Murders are on the rise here in Tokyo today as another dead body was found in the alleyway behind the local Bikurri Boy, bringing the death count since last night to 10. One of the victims, however, managed to briefly survive the encounter with the killer before giving into his wounds at the local hospital earlier today, and he said that the murderer was a living, breathing, Buchimaru-kun plush holding a steak knife."
"What?!" Makoto exclaimed incredulously as Ryuji came into the room.
"What happened?" Ryuji asked.
"Apparently a Buchimaru-kun doll came to life and is killing people," Makoto explained.
"Mom, dad, you two don't think that the Buchimaru-kun I got from the store is the same Buchimaru-kun that's out there killing people right now, do you?" Himari asked.
"Why would you think that?" Ryuji asked.
"Think about it," Himari said, "Mom's Buchimaru-kun goes missing around the same time another one is out on a murder spree. I know it sounds unlikely, but it's still possible."
"But how would the doll even come to life?" Ryuji asked, "This isn't Toy Tales (Toy Story), this is real life."
"And ten people?" Makoto chimed in, "It's a plush toy! How much damage could a plush toy possibly cause?"
Gilligan Cut To…
(BGM: Bella Poarch's 'Dolls')
We cut to the possessed Buchimaru-kun's murderous killing spree. The doll is seen at the local park where Hotaru Yajima is filming some ducks in a pond. The doll sits next to him, catching his attention, and before Hotaru could question the situation, it tackles Hotaru to the ground and murders him.
Next, we see Sugimura, who is sitting behind his desk going through some work papers in his office when he hears the door open. Sugimura looks over at the door to find the plush toy standing there. He gets up from his seat to get a closer look at the toy, but when he gets close enough, the doll leaps up and stabs Sugimura in the face.
Next, at a gym, Kamoshida is seen doing bench presses. He's the only one at the gym however, so when the Buchimaru-kun enters the building, there's no one else around to see him. The plush walks up to the former Olympian, jumps up, and stabs his hand, causing him to drop the barbell on his head, knocking him out and presumably dying due to head injury.
The doll's next kill is Futaba Sakura. The orange haired woman was in the middle of a video game when the doll comes up behind her and slits her throat.
Finally, we cut to Yusuke's art studio in his home. He's in the middle of his next painting when, right behind him, the Buchimaru-kun plush is watching him after having snuck in through an air vent. It begins lumbering towards the blue haired artist, but by the time Yusuke turned around to face the bear, it was too late and the next thing that got splashed onto his canvas was his blood.
(End BGM)
"GAH!" Mana and Mitsu screamed, the death of their own father being too much for them, "No more! I don't want to hear anymore of this story!" Mana cried.
"Forget this," Mitsu cried, "We're out of here!"
The Kitagawa twins run out of the warehouse in a fright as Haru chases after them, making sure that her daughters don't go too far, or get lost in their panic.
"Girls, wait up!" Haru said as she left the warehouse too.
"Another three bite the dust," Himari said proudly before turning her attention to the remaining listeners, "And now for the epic conclusion!"
The possessed Buchimaru-kun plush re-enters the Sakamoto Residence, its bloodstained knife in hand. He walks through the living room, confident that Makoto, Ryuji, and Himari were sound asleep in bed, when suddenly…
"You have a nice night?" Came Makoto's voice.
The Buchimaru-kun plush turns in the voice's direction as Makoto turns on a lamp, revealing herself to be sitting in a nearby lounge chair as Ryuji and Himari stand close by.
"Would you say you had a 'killer' night?" Himari asked.
"Or that it would be to 'die' for?" Ryuji chimed in.
"That's right," Makoto said, "We know it was you who killed all those people. Now I don't know you came to life, but I think it's time we took that life away." Makoto then got up from her chair and approached the Buchimaru-kun plush, "So why don't you make this easy on yourself before I-"
Unfortunately, the plush wanted to do things the hard way as it immediately pounces on Makoto and tries to kill her.
"Get off me, you stupid doll!" Makoto screamed!
"Oh crap!" Himari exclaimed.
"We're coming, babe!" Ryuji said as he and his daughter ran up to Makoto and the doll. Ryuji pulls the doll off of Makoto and throws it into the nearby fireplace.
Makoto quickly gets up and grabs a nearby box of matches. She takes a match out and lights it before looking at the Buchimar-kun plush, who just stared back at the brunette woman cutely, hoping that it would be enough for her to spare it.
"Buchimar-kun," Makoto began, "You were a huge part of my childhood, and I'll always love you…but I love my family and friends even more!"
And with that, Makoto threw the match in the fireplace, causing the possessed doll to ignite until it was reduced to a pile of smoldering ashes. Makoto, Ryuji, and Himari gather around and stare at the pile of ashes that was once a Buchimaru-kun plush doll before hugging each other, happy that the nightmare that Himari accidentally brought home was all over.
"And they lived happily ever after, the end," Himari said with a smile.
"You said the conclusion would be exciting," Mai said, "But it was over as quickly as it began."
"Look, this fanfic can only go on for so long, and I think the author has other stories he'd like to attend to soon," Himari said before turning to her mom, who looked a little rattled; it was a story about her childhood icon going crazy and killing people after all, "So, what did you think, mom? Pretty scary right?"
"A-Are you kidding?" Makoto said, "That wasn't scary at all. I've swatted mosquitos that were scarier than that story. Didn't bother me in the slightest."
"Uh, guys," Himari said, looking behind Makoto, "What's that over there?"
Everyone, along with Makoto turns around to see a figure wearing a Buchimaru-kun mask and holding a knife. The figure laughs maniacally, scaring Makoto out of her wits and sending her running out of the warehouse screaming. The figure rejoins the group and removes the mask, revealing himself to be Hotaru.
"Nice work Hotaru," Himari said as she took some money out of her pocket, "And here's your payment. Pleasure doing business with you."
"Hey you know me, I'll do anything for cash," Hotaru said, "Yeesh, that won't sound good out of context."
Winners: Ren, Ryuji, Himari, Yusuke, Futaba, Mai, Sumire, Hayato, Hifumi, and Hotaru.
Losers: Ichiro, Kas, Mana, Mitsu, Haru, and Makoto
"I'm pretty sure what you two did just then was cheating," Ryuji said, looking at his daughter and Hotaru in shame.
"No use crying over spilt milk, Ryuji," Ren said, "It's time for another story! Who wants to go next?"
"We've let the kids tell the first two," Futaba said, "I think it's time for the grown-ups to have their say."
Futaba cleared her throat and began to tell her story, "One night, this couple decides to go down to the beach for a little night swimming, which really deserves a quiet night, but that's neither here nor there…"
Futaba's Story: Based on the opening of Jaws
In the story, we see Hayato and Hifumi, who are in their swimsuits, walking along the beach.
"I'm not sure about this, Hayato," Hifumi said.
"There's nothing to worry about," Hayato said, "People go night swimming all the time. It's one hundred percent legal."
"No, I mean something bad has happened to me in the other two stories," Hifumi said, "Who's to say something bad won't happen to me in this one too?"
"You know what they say, 'third time's the charm'," Hayato said, "Maybe something bad won't happen to you this time."
"Meh, I guess," Hifumi said with a shrug of her shoulders.
"Come on, it'll be fun," Hayato said, "I'll race you into the ocean!"
"Oh you're so on!" Hifumi said as she and her husband ran into the water to kick off their night swim session.
The couple had the time of their lives swimming in the ocean and just enjoying each other's company. But little did they know, they were being watched from something within the depths of the water.
"Hey, Hayato, want to see how fast I can swim to that buoy and back?" Hifumi asked her husband.
"Go for it," Hayato said.
"Watch this," Hifumi said as she started to swim towards the buoy, unaware that she was still being watched by whatever was in the depths, and whatever it was that was watching her started to follow her.
Eventually Hifumi made it to the buoy and was preparing to swim back, but the creature from the deep started to swim upwards to the swimming Shogi player.
"You still watching me, babe?" Hifumi called over to Hayato.
"I never took my eyes off you for a second, sweetie," Hayato said.
"Okay, I'm coming back now!" Hifumi said as she prepared to swim back to her husband, but before she could even get anywhere far, she felt something tug at one of her legs, scaring her. She tried to swim away, but she ended up getting pulled under before resurfacing in a panic, whatever it was that got a hold of her dragging her along the surface.
"HAYATO, HELP ME!" Hifumi screamed as she continued to get dragged.
"HIFUMI!" Hayato cried as he quickly gave chase, "Don't worry, I'll save you!"
"Help me! Save me, please!" Hifumi cried as she continued to get tossed around like a ragdoll.
Just as Hayato finally made it to Hifumi, she got pulled under the water again.
"Hifumi, no!" Hayato yelled, "Hang on, I'm coming!"
Hayato was about to take a dive into the ocean to save his girlfriend, when suddenly bubbles started to form in front of him and something huge started to rise from below, creating waves so huge that it sent Hayato back to shore screaming. When Hayato finally washed up on the shore, he was seen coughing up water before looking up and finding a giant sea monster had risen from the depths of the ocean! The monster looked like a cross between Godzilla and the kraken, and it had Hifumi in its grasp.
"Hifumi!" Hayato cried as he saw his wife in the monster's possession, "Let her go, now!"
The monster just looked at Hayato, and then at Hifumi before flinging the Shogi player into the night sky screaming, "Third time wasn't the chaaaaaaarm!" *PING!*
With Hifumi taken care of, the monster glowers down at Hayato, who looks back at its ugly mug in horror. The monster raises a foot and Hayato screams before the monster stomps on him, ending his life.
The monster lets out a victorious roar was we cut to…
…Real life where Futaba is doing the same thing, pretending that she's the monster. She's getting so into her storytelling that she's not even paying attention to everyone else's bewildered expressions.
"And then the monsters stomps its way into the city to wreak even more havoc!" Futaba said, "It started knocking down buildings, and devouring even more people who were all like, 'Ah! Save me, help!' The monster steps on this guy's cabbage stand and he's all like, 'My cabbages!' Then the military gets called in and they're all like, 'Omae wa mou shindeiru,' but the monster just picks up a tank and hurls it at this other tank! And then…"
As Futaba continued ranting about her monster story, Mai, completely embarrassed, stands up and starts to drag her mother out of the warehouse.
"I'm so sorry about this, everyone," Mai said, "She didn't get much sleep last night so she's a little delirious."
"No apologies necessary, Mai," Ren said, "Take care of your mom for us, alright."
"Can do," Mai said before turning her attention to Futaba, "Come on, mom, let's go find dad and Riku so we can go home and get you to bed."
"I'm the parent here, Mai," Futaba said as her daughter continued to drag her out of the warehouse, "Let me go so I can continue telling the people my story!"
And with that, two more people leave the warehouse leaving just eight remaining.
Winner: Ren, Ryuji, Himari, Yusuke, Sumire, Hayato, Hifumi, Hotaru
Loser: Futaba and Mai
"Can I just ask why everyone wants to abuse my darling Hifumi in their stories?" Hayato asked, annoyed, "Seriously, what did she ever do to all of you?"
"Hey, she's not alone," Sumire said, "You died in Futaba's story too."
"And I died in Himari's story," Yusuke chimed in.
"But I'm the only one who's constantly getting abused," Hifumi said.
"Don't worry, mom," Hotaru said as he hugged his mom, "I'm sure your luck will change in the next story."
"Speaking of which, who wants to tell the next story?" Ren asked.
"If you don't mind, Ren, I'd like to throw my hat in the ring next," Yusuke said.
"Okay, Yusuke, you have the floor," Ren said.
"Thank you," Yusuke said as he cleared his throat, ready to tell his story, "It was a dark and foggy night here in Tokyo…"
Yusuke's Story: Based on A Clockwork Orange
(BGM: Funeral of Queen Mary)
The first thing we see is Yusuke's stoic expression. It looks as if he's staring into your soul. He's wearing a bowler hat, white suit with white briefs on the outside of the pants, black boots, and some fake eyelashes on one eye. The camera zooms out to show Haru, Mana, and Mitsu, all three of whom were dressed in a similar manner and sitting with him on the couch. They're shown in their home, Yusuke's art studio specifically as his paintings were hung up on each wall, as Yusuke himself begins to narrate.
"There was me, that is Yusuke," he narrated, "And my wife and daughters, that is Haru, Mana, and Mitsu. And we sat in our quaint little home, surrounded by my paintings, trying to figure out what to do with our evening. My art studio is where the four of us do our best thinking. The colors, the brushwork, and the range of depth used in these paintings had this strange effect on us; they sharpen us up and make us ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence…"
(End BGM)
We cut to a new location, beneath a bridge specifically, where a homeless woman that looks a lot like Hifumi is seen sleeping soundly. That is until four shadows come over her, causing her to wake up.
"God, is that you?" Hifumi asked as she stared up at the 'droog-ified' Kitagawa Family.
"No, ma'am," Yusuke said menacingly as he held up his cane, "But we'll be happy to arrange a meeting with him for you if you so wish."
"Oh, come on!" Hifumi whined, "I got beat up in the first story, murdered in the second one, flung into the sky in the third one, now I'm going to get killed again in this story?"
"It's a bit of nastiness, isn't it?" Mana taunted.
"This will only take a second, dearie," Haru said.
"But it'll be the most painful second of your life!" Mitsu bellowed as the four of them started beating the hell out of Hifumi.
We then cut to an abandoned theater where a rival gang led by Sugimura is seen hanging out and getting drunk on sake while singing a song.
"All my friends are heathens, take it slow," Sugimura and his gang sang, "Wait for them to ask you who you know! Please don't make any sudden moves! You don't know the half of the abuse!"
In the middle of their song, the Kitagawas barge in with fire in their eyes and bloodlust in their souls.
"Welly, well, well," Sugimura said, "If it isn't my old flame Haru, his uncouth hubby, and her two brats! To whom do I owe the displeasure?"
"Just came along looking for a little ultra-violence, Sugimura," Haru said.
"Well you've come to the right place," Sugimura said as he and his gang stood up and cracked their knuckles, "Me and my boys have been itching for a good fight, haven't we?"
Sugimura's gang cheer in agreement as the Kitagawas get ready for the fight of their lives.
"We can't do this without proper music," Yusuke said as he turned to Mitsu, "Mitsu, be a lamb?"
"Yes, pops," Mitsu said as she took out her phone and turned on some music.
(BGM: 'The Only Thing They Fear is You' from Doom Eternal)
"Let's do this!" Mana bellowed, "CHARGE!"
The four Kitagawas charge at Sugimura and his gang, and they quickly engage in combat.
With Haru, she takes a ball peen hammer out from her pocket and hits one gang-member in the jaw before pushing him away and taking the hammer to the crotch of another gang-member, "I'll smash your bits in!" Haru shouted
With Mana, she's on the shoulders of another gang-member as she's biting his ear and pulling on it.
"Someone get this little bitch off me!" The gang member cried.
He was so pre-occupied with Mana that he didn't even notice Mitsu who stabbed him in the stomach before pushing him away, with Mana jumping off of him in the process.
Finally, Yusuke was dealing with Sugimura himself. He blocked Sugimura's punches with his cane, and when the brown haired man's guard was down, Yusuke swung his cane right in his head, knocking him unconscious.
When the dust settled, Sugimura and his gang were left unconscious.
(End BGM)
"Excellent work, family," Yusuke said, adjusting his bowler hat.
"They were hardly a challenge for us," Mitsu boasted.
"Come along, everyone," Yusuke said, leading his family out of the abandoned theater, "The night is still young."
The Kitagawa's next destination is Cafe Leblanc. Since it's nighttime, the cafe is obviously closed, but the light inside is still on, meaning Sojiro was cleaning up before heading for home. The family of four are seen walking up to the cafe's front door, with Yusuke leading the way.
"I think it's time for the old surprise visit," Yusuke said, "What do you three say?"
"Let's do it!" Mana concurred.
"Alright, let me handle this," Yusuke said as he approached the front door and his wife and kids either ducked down or stayed up against the wall to avoid being detected. Yusuke knocked on the door and inside, Sojiro came to the door to see who it was.
"Who's there?" Sojiro asked from inside the cafe.
"Hello, sir, I hate to trouble you, but my family and I got into a bit of an accident," Yusuke said, "May we borrow your phone?"
"In this day and age don't you have a cell phone?" Sojiro asked.
"My daughters don't have phones, my phone is dead, and my wife left her phone at home," Yusuke said, "Please let us in, this is serious."
"How coincidental that your wife forgot her phone and yours ran out of battery life," Sojiro said, not buying the lie for a second.
"This is getting us nowhere," Mana said, "Why don't we just bum rush him?"
"Sssshhh," Mitsu and Haru were heard shushing Mana.
"What?!" Sojiro said.
"Okay you know what, forget this!" Yusuke said, "Mana, do the honors!"
Outside, Mana was heard shouting, "Skibidi bob mm dada," before she kic kicked the door down, allowing her, Mitsu, Yusuke, and Haru to enter,
"Let's trash the place, everyone!" Yusuke said.
"YEAH!" Haru, Mana, and Mitsu cheered as the immediately started to make a mess out of the inside of the cafe. Yusuke held him down, meaning Sojiro could only watch as his cafe got destroyed.
"Smooth like butter, like a criminal undercover" Mana sang as she broke plates against the floor, "Gon' pop like trouble breaking into your heart like that, oh…"
"Stop it!" Sojiro cried, "Why are you doing this?!"
"Because we can, pops!" Haru taunted as she broke a chair.
"And if you think we're leaving you out of the destruction, you are sadly mistaken," Yusuke said, "Who wants first crack at him?"
"I'll do it!" Mitsu said as she took out her knife.
"Go ahead, daughter," Yusuke said as Mitsu approached the frightened cafe owner.
"The doctor is in, sucker!" Mitsu said sadistically as Mana continued singing 'Smooth Like Butter' and destroying things with Haru in the background. Mitsu brought the knife close to Sojiro's screaming face when suddenly…
"AAAAHHHH!" Sumire screamed before fainting. The other seven present stared at Sumire's unconscious body, not sure what to do next.
"Wow, Uncle Yusuke," Hotaru said, "Your story was so scary it make Auntie Sumire faint!"
"I guess she couldn't comprehend the idea of you, Haru, Mana, and Mitsu being a band of thugs and sadists," Hayato said.
"So, I guess this means Sumire is out," Ryuji said.
As soon as he said that, Ichiro and Kas returned with a takeout bag from Big Bang Burger.
"Sumi, we're back with dinner for you," Ichiro said before seeing his unconscious wife on the floor, "Oh my God, Sumire!"
Ichiro and Kas ran up to Sumire to check on her.
"What happened here?" Ichiro asked his friends.
"I was telling a scary story and your wife passed out," Yusuke explained.
"I know what'll fix this," Kas said as she took a burger out from the take out bag and put it against Sumire's nose. This causes the red haired gymnast to wake up and look up at her husband and daughter.
"Ichiro, Kas, you came back," Sumire said as she sat up.
"We figured you were probably hungry so we brought you a burger from Big Bang Burger," Ichiro said.
"Thanks, Ichi," Sumire said as her husband helped her on her feet, "Well, guys, it's been fun, but I think I'm going to head out of here."
"Might as well," Ryuji said, "You lost the moment you fainted."
"Whatever," Sumire said, "Happy Halloween, everyone."
"Take it easy, gang," Kas said.
"Bye, now," Ichiro said as he led his wife and daughter out of the warehouse.
Winners: Ren, Ryuji, Himari, Yusuke, Hayato, Hifumi, and Hotaru
Loser: Sumire
"Seven of us remaining," Ren said, "Who's next in our little contest."
"And whoever goes next, can you please, please, please, stop treating my wife like some kind of chew toy!" Hayato scolded.
"Settle down, Hayato, sweetie," Hifumi said calmly, "I think it's time for this chew toy to bite back with a scary story of her own."
"Oh, this oughta be good," Ryuji said.
"Now, where do I begin," Hifumi said, "Oh yeah! Once upon a time, there was this family who had a cat. But this cat was afflicted with an illness that no one had ever seen before. They took the cat to every veterinarian in the city, but none of them could figure out what was wrong. It was almost as if a demon possessed it. So, the family called in a professional to sort out this situation once and for all…"
Hifumi's Story: Based on The Exorcist
The story begins on a dark and foggy night in front of the Amamiya Residence, where we see the silhouette of Hifumi walking up the steps to the front door of the house. She knocks three times and Ren, Ann, Minato, and Kimiko come to answer the door. They open the door and let Hifumi inside.
"Thank you so much for coming," Ren said.
"Our cat's gone completely bonkers," Minato said, "We don't know what's up with him."
"Tell me more about this sick cat of yours," Hifumi said.
"I took some footage of the weird things that's been going on with him," Ann said as she showed Hifumi some videos she recorded of Morgana on her phone.
The first video shows Morgana doing a 'spider walk' up and down the staircase. The second video shows Morgana yowling with fright as his cat bed was shaking violently with him in it. The third and final video shows Ann, the one recording the video, walking up to Morgana, who had his back turned towards her. When the cat sensed her presence, his head turns in a 180 degree angle to look at her with a slasher smile, the bones in his neck cracking all the while.
"Your cat isn't sick," Hifumi said, "Your cat is possessed!"
Hearing the news made Ren, Ann, Minato, and Kimiko gasp in horror.
"Please, take me to the cat," Hifumi requested.
"He's upstairs in the master bedroom," Ren said, "We decided to lock him in there until you arrived."
"I see," Hifumi said, "Follow me."
The Amamiyas follow Hifumi up the stairs until they reached the master bedroom. Hifumi opens the door and walks in, followed by the family of four, and the first thing they see when they enter is Morgana, who is just sitting on Ren and Ann's bed, glaring at them with green eyes. Ren, Ann, Minato, and Kimiko all look worried to face their cat, but Hifumi looks at the cat with a stoic expression.
"I've been waiting for you," the cat said to Hifumi in a demonic tone.
Suddenly, the door randomly closes behind them, startling the Amamiyas, but Hifumi just keeps glaring at the cat.
"Demon," Hifumi said to the possessed cat, "Release Morgana at once! He didn't do anything to you!"
"But he makes such a lovely vessel," The possessed cat said, "And if you want to try and stop me, do you know what I have to say?"
"What?" Hifumi asked only for Morgana to suddenly projectile vomit green slime at her. Fortunately, she moves out of the way and the vomit lands on the floor. After the cat was done vomiting, the only thing that came up after that was a hairball composed of Morgana's fur.
When Hifumi went to pick the hairball up off the bed, the possessed cat started talking again, but this time in the voice of Hifumi's son, Hotaru, "Mommy, why do you do this to me?"
"You're not my son," Hifumi said bluntly before the possessed cat goes back to the voice it was using before.
"Speaking of which, do you know what your fucking son did?" the possessed Morgana asked.
"Yes," Hifumi said, "He got a D on his algebra test today and now he can't watch T.V tonight."
"Lucky guess," the possessed Morgana said.
Hifumi next reaches into her pocket and takes out a bag of catnip, frightening Morgana.
"Get that shit away from me!" the possessed Morgana exclaimed.
"Cat's go crazy for this stuff," Hifumi explained to the Amamiya Family, "With any luck this should drive the demon out and we can have Morgana back. Join me now, repeat what I say: The power of nip compels you!"
The Amamiyas joined Hifumi in chanting, "The power of nip compels you! The power of nip compels you! The power of nip compels you!"
As the five of them chanted, the possessed Morgana started screaming in pain. It got to the point where the possessed cat started floating in mid-air, making Hifumi stop chanting and start demanding that he comes down, a la an old, but famous internet video.
"GET THE FUCK DOWN!" Hifumi scolded, "FUCKING DROP! DROOOOOP! GET THE FUCK DOWN FROM THERE! DO IT, YOU BITCH, DO IT!"
The possessed cat lowers itself back onto the bed, and the Amamiya family is amazed that Hifumi got the demon to listen to her. She just turns to them and says, "I've always wanted to reference that," before turning her attention back to the possessed Morgana.
"Your mother eats dick in hell," The possessed cat tells the Shogi player, who just looks at the cat and says, "Well that's just not nice."
"Neither is your father's ass!" The possessed cat snapped back.
"You know, you're making it very hard for me not to strangle you right now," Hifumi said, annoyed.
"You wouldn't hurt your poor husband, would you?" The possessed cat said, now speaking with Hayato's voice.
"I'd hurt someone impersonating my husband," Hifumi said, only for Morgana's head to spin a complete 360 degrees.
"Alright, I've had enough of this," Hifumi said, "Demon, leave Morgana's body now, or else?"
"Or else what?" The possessed cat asked, only for Hifumi to start scratching him behind the ears, calming him down and making him purr with delight. The cat then rolls over on its back for Hifumi to rub and scratch his belly, which she does, making him purr even more. But then…
"BEGONE, DEMON!" Hifumi punches the cat in the stomach, making him cough out a half digested, sickly looking rat which flies up in the air and lands on the floor next to the bed, returning Morgana back to normal as his eyes go from green back to blue.
Morgana sits up in the bed and looks around at Hifumi and his owners, "Oh, what happened? Where was I?"
"Morgana!" Kimiko exclaimed as she ran up and hugged the cat as she was joined by her brother and parents.
"What's going on?" Morgana asked, "The last thing I remember was eating this rat, and then everything went black."
"It's okay, Morgana," Ren said, "You just had a really bad dream, but it's over now."
Hifumi watched the Amamiyas hug Morgana and smiled, satisfied that she was able to help them and save their cat. But as they were reveling in their victory, the rat that Morgana coughed up comes back to life and runs away. Before running into a nearby rat hole, the demon rat looks at the group and says in a menacing tone, "I'll be back!" Before running into the rat hole, ending the story.
"The end," Hifumi said.
"That was a great story, Hifumi," Ren said.
"Yeah, I never knew you had it in you, Hifumi?" Ryuji said before turning to the other four, "What did you guys think?"
Ren and Ryuji look over at Himari, Yusuke, Hotaru, and Hayato, all four of whom were seen hugging each other in fear.
"The idea of a possessed cat is a truly horrifying one," Yusuke said.
"How can something so cute and cuddly become so deadly," Himari asked.
"That's just a story, right mom?" Hotaru asked, "There's no such thing as a demon rat, right?"
"Oh, I don't know, Hotaru," Hifumi said as she reached into her pocket, "Why don't you ask him yourself!"
And she pulled out a very sickly looking rat from her pocket, causing Yusuke, Himari, Hayato, and Hotaru to scream and run away, with Hayato, Hotaru, and Himari leaving through the door, and Yusuke not paying attention to where he was going, causing him to run through a wall, leaving a big 'Yusuke-shaped' hole in it.
"That'll teach them for abusing me in their stories," Hifumi said proudly before putting the rat back in her pocket, "And don't worry, it's a fake rat. I always keep it in my pocket just in case I have to tell that story."
"I can understand you wanting to scare Himari and Yusuke," Ren said, "But your own husband and son got scared too. Meanwhile they didn't like the idea of you getting abused in our stories just as much as you."
"You know what they say, you have to break a few eggs to make an omelet," Hifumi said with the shrug of her shoulders, not bothered by the fact that she frightened her own family.
"Wow, wife and mother of the year, everyone," Ryuji said, sarcastically.
"Well, it's been fun, boys," Hifumi said as she stood up, "But I'd better go find my son and husband and make sure they didn't run into oncoming traffic."
"Take care, Hifumi," Ren said as he and Ryuji watched the Shogi player leave the warehouse, the two of them being the only people remaining in their contest.
Winners: Ren and Ryuji
Losers: Yusuke, Himari, Hayato, Hotaru, and Hifumi
"Well, Ryuji, I guess it's just you and me," Ren said, "Got any stories you want to try and tell me?"
"Not a one, buddy," Ryuji said, "And there's nothing you can do or say right now that'll scare me."
"Alright then," Ren said, "I guess there's nothing left to do except wait here…for the ghost."
"What do you mean?" Ryuji said.
"Weren't you listening to Kaito earlier?" Ren asked, "The ghost of the worker that died here haunts this very warehouse, and I don't think he'd like it very much if he knew we were here uninvited."
"Ren, you and I both know that that's just an urban myth," Ryuji said, "Ghosts aren't real, and you're full of-"
Suddenly, Ryuji got cut off as the industrial sized fan in the corner of the room turned on as the light fixtures above them started to sway and shake violently.
"What the hell is happening," Ryuji asked, slowly but surely getting scared.
"Reeeeeeen! Ryuuuuuuuji!" A ghostly voice echoed through the warehouse, frightening Ryuji even more.
"H-How does the ghost know our names," Ryuji asked before trying to toughen back up again by saying, "Is what I would ask if I believed in ghosts, which I don't, and was totally scared right now, which I'm not!"
Next, some of the crates in the warehouse started to shake violently, a couple of the crate stacks getting knocked over, landing on the warehouse floor with loud thuds. Also, the brake lights on one of the forklifts starts flickering on and off as the light fixtures in the ceiling continue to saw like crazy.
"Nice try, Ren," Ryuji said, fear continuing to build inside him, "But I know it's you doing this!"
"I swear, Ryuji, I have nothing to do with this," Ren said, "I'm standing right here with you."
"Well whatever is going on, it's not enough to scare me out of here," Ryuji said, "There's no such thing as ghosts, and when the dust settles, I'll be the winner of this-"
What cuts Ryuji off this time is a light that appears on a nearby wall. The light reveals itself as a ghostly figure which looks down at Ryuji and roars at him.
"NOPE!" Ryuji yelled as he ran out of the warehouse, screaming all the while.
With Ryuji gone, and Ren being the only one left in the warehouse, the bespectacled man started to laugh victoriously.
"Alright, family, that's a wrap," Ren said, "Let's pack it up so we can get out of here and get back home where we belong."
"Couldn't have said it better myself, sweetie," The ghostly voice from earlier was heard saying.
It turns out that the source of the ghostly voice was just Ann, who came out from behind a stack of crates carrying a voice box; not only was she the source of the ghostly voice, but she was also the person pushing the crates down. As Ann comes out of hiding, her and Ren's children and cat come out of their hiding places, revealing that they had a part in this prank too. Minato comes out from one of the corners of the warehouse, revealing that he rigged up a pulley system so he could shake the lights. Kimiko came out from another crate holding a remote control, revealing herself to be the one who turned on the fan and forklift brake lights, and Morgana comes out from yet another crate, walking towards a hidden projector which provided them with the ghost that scared Ryuji. The cat turns the projector off before rejoining his owners in the center of the warehouse.
"Ha, ha, we really scared Uncle Ryuji good," Minato said.
"Yeah," Kimiko chimed in, "He probably won't stop running until he gets to the other side of the country. And I'm so glad Auntie Futaba set up this remote so I could turn on the fan and forklift for extra effect. I only wish she stuck around long enough to see it."
"We'll be sure to tell her how it went the next time we see her," Ann told her daughter.
"Well, family, I think we can agree that we're the king, queen, prince, princess, and royal cat of Halloween for yet another year?" Ren asked.
"Oh yeah!" Minato said with a nod.
"Well, now that that's over, what do you guys want to do now?" Ann asked.
Before the family could debate on their next course of action, an apparition of an old pier worker suddenly appeared. He had a bluish hue to him and was floating in mid-air. The family just stared at him, not sure what to make of it.
"I thought you guys turned the projector off?" Ren said, bewildered.
"Dad…" Minato said, fear in his voice, "The projector is off!"
Minato pointed at the powered down projector to show that it really was off and what the Amamiya Family was looking at right now was in fact a real ghost! Not only that, but the rumors of a ghost haunting the warehouse, and by extension Yobo-Yobo Harbor, were true. The four humans and one cat were trembling in fear at these realizations.
"It…It…" Ann stammered, "It's a…real…"
"GHOST!" Kimiko screamed.
All five members of the Amamiya family screamed as the ghost let out an evil laugh, causing all five of them to run out of the warehouse in terror.
With the ghost being the only thing left in the warehouse, he turns to the camera, his evil laugh turning into a jollier one.
"Happy Halloween, to all," The ghost said heartily, "And to all a spooky night!"
The ghost disappears, and with that this story finally ends.
