A month later, on the rooftops…

"How's patrol going? Seeing anything new today, Bro?" Eddie asked through a special earpiece he and Peter crafted to keep in contact while on patrol.

"Nothing much, but it seems pretty peaceful out tonight, Bro." Spider-man answered then suddenly, a building nearby exploded, "I spoke too soon."

"Often do that, Bro."

Soon, the web-slinger arrived at the sight as a pack of thieves tried to escape from the jewelry store with the riches. But before they could get away, they were blinded by a light, a symbol of the spider.

"Hey guys, it seems you found some missing loot from that store. That's so sweet of you to try to return it." Spider-man gave his quips as he used his acrobatic skills and his webs to catch the crooks and hung them up by a streetlamp, "But you look tied up, why don't I make sure the nice people get their stuff back? I'm sure the police would like to 'thank you' personally."

Peter then grabbed the loot and returned to the store.

"Man, they messed up this place…"

Spider-man was quick to start cleaning up the store, the valuables, the mess, and anything else. It helped that he made a special fluid to help restore the building's condition, making the walls stronger as he finished reinstalling the door.

"What are you doing?" Eddie questioned.

"Being a hero."

"But you already caught the thugs and returned everything. Why are you fixing the store?"

Then it clicked.

"…You forgot to take your OCD medication again, didn't you?"

"Maybe…"

"Pete, just get out of there and head home! And don't forget your medication again, you know I hate it when you forget."

"Okay, I will. Promise."

As it were, the police were coming. By the time they arrived, he was already long gone, and the crooks were wrapped up like a present by the streetlamp.

Eddie had been acting like a mother hen as well as his tech support. He constantly worries, scolds him, lectures him, checks him over for injures, and stitches up his clothing, which the last part was nice. He knows Eddie is just worried because he cares, but Pete was a tough cookie and he can protect others, that's why he became Spider-man to protect others and honor the memory of his uncle.

With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility.

A motto of his heart, his code to live by for the sake of everyone around. He would remember those words until the day he died, he owed it to his uncle who gave him so much.

He better head back to the house and gets his medicine and some sleep. It is a school night after all.

The Next Morning at the Parker Home…

The boy was exhausted from the night before, remembering to take his daily medication like Eddie wanted.

He looked a little bit roughed up but could easily fix with a quick wash and a change of clothing. Then he slid down for breakfast, ready to greet his dear Aunt May, only she had other worries. Peter shouldn't be listening in, but…

"I know, but what choice do I have? We are barely scraping by with whatever is left of Ben's life insurance and a second job will put food on the table… No, no, I do not want to borrow money, it's not our way. Thanks, June. But please don't tell Petey. This is adult issues and he's a teenager, he doesn't need to grow up too fast on this."

Peter heard everything. His aunt shouldn't have to shoulder this alone, and he owes it to her and to Uncle Ben to keep this ship afloat. He knew his relatives wanted him to focus on school than getting a job yet, yet. But… Family comes first.

"Peter, come down for some food~!" Aunt May called to him.

He pretended that he just arrived, said good morning, talked with his aunt and about her work at FEAST, then got ready for school.

At Doc Connor's Lab…

Eddie has examined the bloodwork and wrote done everything in his journal.

The Connors themselves were preoccupied with other things and allowed Eddie to work on an independent project. When they asked about the blood, the blond lied about saying it was his own and wanted to study the genetic properties in humans. He couldn't tell them the truth, that would be an impossible amount of trust that Eddie doesn't have.

As for the blood, he began to notice changes with each draw, almost as if it's adapting… evolving at a faster rate.

Luckily, there haven't been any changes to Peter, yet. But it's better to be safe than sorry. Eddie wants to keep track of his little brother in the event that the mutation begins to alter him in ways that lead him to the dissection table in some unknown location.

But so far, it's just been thugs and crooks, nothing too serious. So, as long as Pete keeps his wits and the fights as simple, Eddie can feel less panic for Peter out on the field.
