At Connor's Labs at night…
Peter was amazed by the sight of the tank.
Dr. Connors was giving a speech about life and how it was all connected to a web of life. Each animal has a purpose to help itself and others connected to them. Humans were trying to better understand this web and how to use it for a better world for all humanity. The best example was the electric eels, more precisely were genetically modified electric eels with their electric receptors enhanced beyond the limit. Though the web of life can bring good to the world, it would be dangerous to mess with nature and could cause more damage than good when things began to cross to the point of no return.
"When's the last time the tank is clean?" Peter joked as he and Gwen were confused by the color of the water.
"There's nothing wrong with the tank. The fluid, I call sludge increases the electricity output on the eels." Eddie explained as he loved the excitement in his brother's eyes.
He's really going to be happy as an intern here.
"In fact, the biosignatures have become so intense that we are forced to upgrade our lab's bioelectrical filters." Dr. Connors explained as the handyman chuckled a little.
"We have been forced to?" Max grinned.
"Sorry, we are forcing Max to upgrade." He corrected himself.
"I'm just saying," Max added.
"Guys this is Max, a good bud of mine. Max this is Petey and Gwen." Eddie introduced.
"Nice to meet you all. Looks like Eddie was right about you being cute, Peter." Max commented as Eddie turned red.
He was so thankful when Dr. Martha Connors came in with their son, Billy. Peter and Gwen soon went home as Eddie made sure the costume, he finished sewing was with Pete. Another night of being a hero means a costume in need of sewing.
"So, Eddie, how old is Pete anyway? He looks around ten, maybe eleven." Max wondered as Curt was still looking over the lizard's DNA.
"He's fifteen and doesn't say that in front of him, he hates it when someone calls him a child." Eddie answered, "And don't say that type of stuff in front of him."
"You mean the part of you think he's cute or the face you have a crush on him? Relax, Eddie, your secret is safe. He probably thinks cute meaning as a little brother sort of way anyway." Max assured him as he tried to pull out one of the filters.
Then it got stuck. He tried to pull on it as hard as he could but that was when it happened. The machine short-circuited as he collided with the eels!
The next day at school…
"So Max is going to be okay? …Okay, okay don't Eddie, he'll pull through. I'll be at the hospital after school… Okay, see you then, Bro. Stay strong. Bye." Spiderman talked on the phone with his bro as he knew it must be hard for him.
Then he swung to school and rushed to his science class.
When Flash suddenly shouted Spiderman, Peter jumped like a startled cat. But thankfully he wasn't exposed, though he was ticked that the blowhard Jonah used his idea.
Soon everyone was settled down as Mr. Warren handed out the test results, Peter was once again Aces, while a few of the others could do a little better, Liz Allen certainly. Flash was still happy to be barely passing, though displeased that Peter was using his prodigy mind again to make him look bad. He tossed the ball at the boy, missed as Peter's spider-sense served him well as he pretends to drop his test, hitting the teacher.
Peter should have been quicker, but Mr. Warren wanted to talk to him, the curse of a prodigy was that you must be a role model, in this a mentor.
"Miss. Allen, I have noticed that you have been struggling in my class. Since you are having such trouble and we need to raise your grade, I wish to recommend you a tutor, Mr. Parker should be able to help you." He offered as the boy and the cheerleader was stunned by his words.
"Sorry, but nerd is not a good look on her." Sally scoffed as Flash laughed.
"Can't Flash tutor me?" Liz suggested, being hopeful.
"I don't think you understand. We want your grade to go up."
Peter cringed at the thought of tutoring this girl.
Later at a hospital…
"They want you to teach a prissy pony like Liz? Geeze, you have your work cut out for you." Eddie commented as he was grateful for Petey for coming with some fast food since he missed lunch.
"I know, I don't think I'm cut out for something like this," Peter added as he took a bite of his hotdog.
"I think you can do it. You're a good person and you can be able to help anyone you set your mind to."
"Yeah, I just wish she was friendlier."
"Yeah. She'll come around."
Speaking of friends, the doctor soon returned. For Eddie, he needed to be alone with Max.
"Give me a call if you need anything else." Peter smiled at him.
"I will and I'll keep you updated on Max's condition." He promised the younger boy.
That was when Peter's phone began to buzz and rang. At first, he thought it was his Aunt May checking up on how Eddie was doing with his friend at the hospital, considering Eddie as one of her own as well. But as it turned out, it was Mr. Allen's phone number, wanting Peter to begin his tutorage with his daughter.
"Looks like I gotta go. Liz's parents want me to help her, and I can't back out of it." Peter sighed as he put the phone back into his pocket, making Eddie chuckle a bit.
"There is a price on how on being such a shining prodigy, Bro. I'll see you tomorrow."
"Tell Max I wish him to get well soon and let him know I'm here to help too."
"I will."
The two then separated as things were going to change from bad to worse.
