Evening at Doctor Connor's Lab…

"Okay, just relax," Curt informed Spider-man, who was laying on a table while he was being scanned.

Peter took a deep breath as Eddie held his best friend's hand throughout the entire thing. It was good for Pete to have support with his mutation, especially since Eddie was the first one to know about it, and when his friends from school were not talking to him right now.

At Eddie's place…

"Man, I screwed up big… Gwen's mad at me for disappearing and hiding what happened at the labs and Harry's upset because I abandoned him when he needs me to help him." Peter sighed as he was on Eddie's bed, getting his bruises checked over.

"Don't worry about it, Gwen will come around. She just needs some time to let off some steam and as for the rich boy… this will be good for him. It's about time he stops leeching off you." Eddie advised as he was cleaning his wounds.

"Ow! Harry doesn't leech off me. I know you and he never saw eye-to-eye but he's still a good friend." Peter defended.

"Yeah, a friend who's jealous of you and uses every opportunity to twist you around his finger."

"He leans on me but sometimes I lean on him."

"Name one time."

Pete opens but then shuts his mouth.

Eddie couldn't understand why Peter was still friends with such a jealous spoiled rich boy. Why did Peter enable such a jerk? No matter if Peter wanted something, if Harry wanted it first, he gives it up.

"Have there been any new changes?" Curt wondered as he was looking at the scans of the boy.

"Little things… like craving for meat, hanging from the ceiling, stuff like that," Peter answered as Eddie rolled his eyes at the boy.

"I doubt it is small." Eddie told him, "He hadn't changed since the incident before."

"Good and the shell seems to tell us much about his transformation and the state that he's in. It seems that his mutation is not complete just yet." Martha informed as she was studying the exoskeleton.

This was something truly fantastic in the scientific field. Their colleagues would come to study the mysterious shell as it is carefully dissected. Eyes, tongue, and still fleshy organic bits were placed in jars, while the shell was studied on how a second body was able to be piloted by the first. Since Peter signed a nondisclosure on who donates it, the only thing people know is that Spider-Man donated, which became the talk of New York.

"Alright, you can get up. We will send you the results after we're done." Curt spoke as Pete breathed in relief and hopped off the table.

"Thanks again, I better head back home." Peter thanked them as Martha handed him a check in an envelope.

"I better get him home before the curfew or Aunt May's going to have both our hides. See you tomorrow." Eddie suggested as he was beginning to yawn.

"Goodnight, Dr. Connor, and Dr. Connor." Peter yawned as he left with Eddie on his motorcycle.

Martha watched them leave as she remembered Eddie's threat.

Outside the Lab where the fight broke out…

Eddie collected the camera as it was filled with new pictures of the Lizard and of the Man-Spider.

"Peter took photos of that? He was going to give those to the Bugle?" Martha gasped.

"He was planning to find a headline story, but not really planning your husband's transformation. He was desperate for cash for his but… He doesn't want your husband exposed and wants me to destroy them." Eddie explained, "Not going to happen."

"What?"

"You know Pete's secret; you know he's a mutant. A secret like that could give you and the lab an extra grant for his unique DNA. Plus, being Spider-man, people would want him as a weapon. I can't have that." Eddie answered, "Don't worry, I won't sell these pictures. But I'll keep them as an insurance policy."

"Eddie, I don't know what you're thinking-."

"I'll tell you. I know you don't care for Petey, the way you acted earlier. But I do, I love him, more than just a brother and you of all people could understand what that type of love does to a person. I will do anything to protect him." Eddie snarled, "Martha Connors, despite working together and being generous towards me I will only give you this warning once. If you bring Peter Parker down, Curt Connors goes with him."

Martha was stunned by Brock's words.

If Peter is revealed by them, so will Curt and the 'Lizard'.
