end up fighting her, with chip going after necrolai. V gets in the way and the spell is broken but she is pretending to still be under her control. Chip fires and V ducks out of the way last second. Koragg shows up.
"Necrolai, I can't believe it," Nick muttered, as they entered Rootcore, "She's the queen of the Vampires, it's going to be a lot harder to defeat her then the Fly Trap."
"We have to try," Maddy insisted, as they mounted the stairs, "V's counting on..." she trailed off, trying to register the fact that Clare was trapped inside the chalk circle, "What happened here?"
"I'm so sorry," Clare exclaimed, blushing slightly as she explained, "Vida she got sick, she even fainted, so I broke the circle a little and she escaped and trapped me instead."
"Did she bite you?" Nick demanded.
Clare shook her head pulling her hair away from her neck to reveal that she hadn't been bitten.
"Alright," Xander said smudging the chalk line with a toe.
"Xander," Nick exclaimed, watching as Clare run off to talk to Udonna, "That trap only works on Vampires and other humanoid monsters. It wouldn't trap Clare unless she was bitten..."
"Hi guys," Clare announced, appearing behind them with a broom, "You were right about Vida being a tricky one, she tried to convince me that she was sick, almost had me fooled," she gasped staring at the empty circle, "What happened here?"
"Xander let V out."
"How was I suppose to know that it was Vida?" Xander asked, "She looked like Clare?"
"She was trapped in the circle," Nick pointed out, "Good sign that she was V."
"You know what, this information would have been useful earlier."
"You want me to tell you every last thing that I've learned about enchanted forests and the creatures that live in them? I've never really studied them, what I've learned are things that my Aunt Star's told me. I've grown up with this being common sense, Monster chalk doesn't trap humans, or witches."
"Fighting about it isn't going to help Vida, now is it," a new voice called out as Amby and Udonna appeared, both carrying baskets.
"Amby, how do you defeat a Vampire?" Nick asked, "I'm trying to remember, and all I can think of is the old stake through the heart trope."
"Pretty much the only way to defeat a Vampire, unless it's an eternal one, one of the original vampires, like Necrolai."
"How do you defeat an Eternal?" Maddy asked.
"You can't," Amby confessed, "If we could we would have wiped out the Vampires centuries ago. What we can do is break her hold on V using a Dawn Crystal. Like the one in the Sun Shield," she admitted, tapping her necklace, "Only we'll need a bigger one. Luckily Udonna and I were able to get all the ingredients that we need to make one."
"We best hurry," Udonna insisted, "The longer Vida is under Necrolai's control the harder it is going to take be to break the spell."
"Well you're doing that I'll lead the others on a search for V," Nick offered.
"I'll stay behind and help," Chip volunteered.
"That's sweet," Amby insisted, "But you have to know, I'm married."
…
Maddy collapsed on the counter of the Rock Porium, "We've been searching all night."
"V's strong," Nick insisted, "She'll be fine."
The bell over the door twinkled, informing them that they had a customer, "Who'll be fine?" a voice asked, causing them to turn around and look at Vida who was standing in the doorway.
"Are you alright?" Maddy demanded, embracing her sister, "are you hurt, where have you been, we've been looking for you everywhere?"
"I'm fine, now, I had a pretty rough night though, but hey, I took care of Necrolai so I'm no longer under her control."
"You sure about that?" Nick said, "Aunt Amby said that the only way to defeat Necrolai was to use a dawn crystal, and a fairly large one at that."
"Well, if she is free from the spell, then she'll be able to walk all the way to Rootcore in the direct sunlight," Xander said, "Right?"
…
"Good news," Xander exclaimed as he walked into Rootcore with the others, "V defeated Necrolai, we kind of doubted her, but she managed to walk her, in broad sunlight, on her own."
"You sure about that?" Amby asked, "There are spells to protect Vampires from the sun, and Necrolai is strong enough to cast one of them on Vida."
"Defeating Necrolai would have been nearly impossible by yourself," Udonna added, "That must have been quite a battle."
"Hail Vida, Vampire Slayer," Chip announced, pulling his hand up in a sideways V against his eye.
Vida looked at him confused before holding up a bag, "Vampire Slayer, and gift bringer," she announced, pulling out a bright red apple, "I picked you all a little something," she announced, handing out the apples.
"Hmm, I love apples," Xander announced, checking his out.
As soon as Nick's apple touched his hand his ring against his skin lit up, he immediately dropped it, scrambling away from it as he shouted, "The Apples are cursed, don't eat them!"
Maddy and the others stared at him in shock before staring at the apple which turned black before vaporizing into a pile of acid, "That could have been us," Nick explained.
"Cool!" Chip announced.
"Not cool," Maddy insisted, "One of us could have been reduced to a puddle."
"Guys were did Vida went?" Nick asked, glancing around.
"You have to find her," Amby announced, holding out the dawn crystal to Chip, "and Necrolai, use this on Necrolai and the spell will be broken. I wish I could help, but," she rubbed her forehead, "Someone's Aunt is having a panic attack, and if I don't do something about it..."
Nick snorted, "If it's anything like with Dad, stormy weather up ahead."
Everyone turned to look at him, "You do not want to meet my dad in a bad mood."
…
Chip wasn't sure this day could have gotten any worse, nothing was going right. The plan had been for him to go after Necrolai while the others dealt with Vida. It hadn't gone as planned, not only were they unwilling to hurt V, but V was willing to hurt them, and the moment Necrolai learned about the dawn crystal, she called V over to protect her.
Chip had a problem he couldn't get a good aim, and he didn't want to hurt Vida. "Nick what do I do!" he called out, turning to the red ranger.
Nick frowned, 'Let me think, what would my parents do… They'll… do what they have to do and trust the morphin grid to protect their friend. You'll have to fight her, Chip."
Chip nodded, pulling his crossbow out, the dawn crystal locked in place of an arrowhead, before jumping up, attacking V midair.
Chip tumbled backwards, "V, you have got to fight the spell, V, it's me Chip, we've been best friends since we were in first grade, remember?"
"I'm not your friend anymore," V announced, "I work for Necrolai," she added, pulling her hand up in a sideways v on her eye.
Chip nodded, "In that case," he said, taking aim. V stood as a human, vampire, shield, as the dawn crystal soared through the air towards her. Chip almost didn't want to watch as it got closer and closer to his friend, who ducked out of the way at the last minute. The bolt hit Necrolai straight in the chest causing her to explode.
"You know that never gets old," Nick said, clasping V on the back, "and it worked, or at least my ring hasn't started burning like crazy saying that you're a threat."
"Great," V said with a laugh, "Although we might want to clear things up with Leelee, she was there when you guys first trapped me in the circle."
"Yeah, and we still haven't solved the mystery of the Fireheart Scroll," Maddy pointed out, "We need to focus on that."
