AN: Thank you to those who clicked on my story. This is my first attempt at a Vampire Knight fanfic, so it brings me joy and happiness to see that others are willing to give it a chance.
The two finally arrived at the Moon Dormintory and the doors were opened for them. The other vampires felt them both approaching. Out of respect, all the vampires bowed not only to Kaname but to Zero as well. They could sense he was a pureblood and the child didn't know what to say. All he could do was give a slight nod, as the vampires stood back up. Zero's eyes drifted to the floor, as Kaname quickly glanced at the child. Then he focused on his subordinates before him. "This is Zero Cross-sama. You will treat him with the same respect you treat me. You all know the rules." All the vampires nodded, as they glanced at the young Pureblood. He raised his eyes, and they all saw how beautiful he was. The amethyst color of his eyes complimented his silver strands giving him an unearthly look. His skin was like porcelain, delicate and fragile. But behind those eyes, there was a sadness they couldn't comprehend. And his blood...it was intoxicating, and they felt drawn to it, like a moth to a flame. But Kaname basically was saying Zero was off-limits, no one was allowed to touch the young Pureblood.
Takuma stepped forward, "Cross, Kaname-sama, as in Chairman Cross?"
"His Uncle," was all the older Pureblood said. "For now you may all return to class. I may or may not be there, it depends." They knew he was referencing Zero, who reddening from the embarrassment as though he was an exhibit to be explored.
As the other vampires left, Kaname led Zero to the third floor. "This floor is only for us Purebloods. The Aristocrats and high-ranked nobles are on the second floor and everyone else is on the first floor." Zero nodded, keeping quiet, as Kaname gave a soft sigh. He stopped walking causing Zero to stop as well who was now looking up at him. "Look we got off to a bad start, can we at least try to get along?" 'I hope Zero agrees because everyone will feel the tension if he doesn't and might retaliate against him.'
Zero thought for a moment before he nodded. "I would like that." Zero was kind, that was just the way he was, that was his nature. But his father, who was not kind, drilled into his mind that he needed to 'show' dominance. Realizing when it came to Kaname, he didn't want to. He felt overwhelmed earlier, his anger, his past, and his mind were filled with so much malice. And sensing a Kuran just had all of that rush to the surface, he felt it disappear when he hit Kaname with his power. He looked at Kaname with a twitch of a smile. "Also I'm sorry."
"What for?" The older Pureblood stared at Zero with mild interest.
Zero looked down before he looked into those chocolate eyes. "For hitting you with my pureblood power earlier." Kaname's eyes widen, as he stared at him in shock. "I have unique gifts because both of my parents were purebloods from two different clans that were...higher than most. So in my case, I have more than one gift. I have two, but I've only ever used one." He quivered a bit, and Kaname felt compelled to comfort him. He got down to one knee and held his arms out. Zero took the hint and was in his arms within seconds. He could feel the fear in him. He feared his second power and Kaname had no idea why. He decided to stay with Zero, knowing the boy needed a friend.
"So let me see if we understand," Aido began in the classroom. "The young Pureblood is related to Cross, who is a human, right?"
"That's what we all heard, Hanabusa," Ruka scoffed, pushing her hair from her face.
"But how is a human and a pureblood related? It doesn't add up," Aido growled under his breath. "There is something fishy going on here."
"Don't do anything to upset Kaname-sama," Ruka warned the blond. He only nodded, as the teacher entered and class began.
'What are you hiding, little pureblood?' Aido wondered to himself. 'I will find out, even if I have to pretend to be his friend.'
"Nii-sama?" A soft voice called out as the two boys pulled apart. Kaname smiled at the young girl.
Zero stared at the young girl, who looked as though she was his age. Her chocolate eyes matched Kaname's, as well as her dark strands. She had a fragile appearance, her head was tilted to the side seeing her brother hugging an unknown boy.
"'Nii-sama?' Wait, you have a sister?' Zero whispered looking at him and Kaname nodded.
"Yuuki, come here," Kaname replied, as the young girl complied. "Yuuki, this is Zero Cross, who is the Chairman's nephew." He turned to the silver-haired boy. "Zero, this is my younger sister, Yuuki Kuran."
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Zero-kun," Yuuki greeted in a cheerful voice.
Zero's eyes widened at the nickname, and a small smile started to appear. Kaname and Yuuki marveled at the sight. He was really cute when he smiled.
"It's nice to meet you, Yuuki-san," Zero's voice was so soft it was like the wind.
"Please call me Yuuki-chan, Zero-kun" she replied with a smile. He couldn't help but have a wider smile and he gave her a nod.
"I can do that, Yuuki-chan," he whispered. She couldn't help but hug him. Frozen in shock for a few seconds, Zero didn't react before he placed his arms around her in a hug. Kaname smiled, as he placed his arms around the two of them. "Ne, Kaname..."
"Don't worry, Zero," the older Pureblood sighed. "I'm just glad that the three of us will be getting along." He was worried about Yuuki and Zero clashing with one another, but now he could see that they would get along just fine.
"Yuuki go get some breakfast, I'll be there shortly," Kaname said after a few minutes as he released them both. The young girl beamed, as she kissed Zero on the cheek before she headed down. Kaname chuckled as Zero blushed and motioned with his hand. "Follow me, Zero." The boy said nothing, as he followed and raised his hand to his cheek. "She only gives kisses on the cheek to those she cares for," Kaname answered Zero's unasked question as he saw how Zero reacted. "It seems Yuuki cares about you."
"It seems that way," Zero said with a smile. "The only people to ever give me love with my Uncle and my mother."
"Your mother?" Kaname's voice trailed off.
"My mother," he whispered. "She died years ago, but she loved me as much as I loved her. My father...only saw me as his eldest and his heir. Something I never wanted. He used to love me..."
"'Heir?' But that's for a high-rank vampire clan..." Kaname's voice trailed off as he realized what Zero said. "Zero. you're not keeping something from me, are you?"
Zero froze, realizing what was happening. He said something he probably shouldn't have. "No, Kaname-sama. I wouldn't hide anything from you." He looked Kaname in his eyes, his gaze was calm, and he didn't show any signs of deceit or lies.
Kaname rubbed his eyes as he sighed. He looked at Zero, as he pointed to a silver door. "That room will be yours and if you need anything, I'll be in the kitchen with Yuuki." Zero watched him walk away, as he entered his room. Kaname stopped for a moment, watching the door close. "Seiren."
A beautiful vampire landed beside him. "Yes, Kaname-sama?"
"Find out what you can about Zero Cross, I want to know everything there is to know about him." He whispered and she nodded. She vanished from sight, as he narrowed his eyes. 'What are you hiding, Zero Cross?'
