Toga Yagari did not like children. He was one of the most respected and strongest vampire hunters alive, aside from Kaien Cross. For a man who did like children much, he ended up being the adopted father to two young children who were both boys.
First, there was Toru. His parents were both respected vampire hunters and were some of Yagari's friends. Their last mission was almost a suicide mission as a horde of Level E's kept coming and eventually overpowered them both. Toru's father, Kaito, was bit more than once before they drained him of all his blood. Yagari and a few others arrived too late to save them. Toru's mother, Renai, was fatally injured by the time Yagari got to her. Before succumbing to her injuries, she requested one thing from Yagari: to raise her and Kaito's child, who was only 7 months old at the time. Toru was now 6 years old. He was very smart and sharp for his age, as his vampire hunter skills were starting to develop. He had dark green hair that almost appeared black and dark blue optics that rivaled the night sky. Even though he was a vampire hunter in training, he had a kind and gentle soul.
Then the second child was the pureblood Yagari found in the snow near the Hunter Association. He could sense the strength emitting from him, despite him being young. His soft skin almost seemed to have an unearthly glow adding to his appeal. His hair was a striking color of silver that was very fine. The most unique and interesting feature was the child's eyes. They were amethyst in color, both stunning and alluring. His voice was as soft as the wind and he didn't speak much. Yagari took a great risk bringing this particular child into his home. Not only was Yagari at risk of being imprisoned, but he risked the child's life who would be killed if he was discovered in hunter territory.
It was three days later when the child decided something.
"Yagari-sensei?" He called out to the older man. Yagari and Toru looked at one another before leaving the room they were in.
"Yes, what is it?" Yagari grunted a bit walking in, trying to get used to his presence. He sat on the bed near him, as Toru sat beside him.
"You said since I don't remember anything, you were going to give me a name and you knew a spell to hide the fact that I'm a pureblood?" He looked at Yagari who nodded. "I would appreciate a name and even though it'll hurt a lot, please...hide it. I don't want to be killed."
Yagari took in a deep breath, as Toru also looked at him. "I was thinking long about this. How about Ryo?" Toru smiled as the child gave a small nod. "Alright, I learned a seal from a family friend. I've never used it before, so this will be new for us all. Ryo lay on your stomach. Toru, you really need to hold him down, and trust me, it won't be easy. That will hurt a lot, Ryo. Are you sure about this?" He nodded again, as Yagari nodded. "Okay then." He grabbed a pillow and put it in front of Ryo. "Trust me, you'll want that."
Ryo lay down on his stomach, as Toru laid on top to keep him down. Yagari placed both hands on his left side and closed his eyes. Ryo buried his face into a pillow bracing himself and Toru bit his lower lip. As Yagari started chanting the incantations, Ryo could start to feel the slight burning on his neck. Toru felt him twitch and braced himself. Suddenly the burning sound intensified, causing Ryo to scream in agony into the pillow and Toru was having difficulty keeping him down. After another minute, Ryo passed out from the severe pain. Toru took a few deep breaths before he looked at Yagari.
"You weren't lying, he is strong," Toru commented, rubbing the sweat from his forehead with his arm. 'I had a heck of a time keeping him down."
"Just imagine how much stronger he will become as he ages," Yagari whispered. "Tomorrow I will officially adopt him and we will do everything we can to help him. That seal will hide his true identity and make him more human-like. He also has hunter blood, which is odd. So making him into a hunter will be no problem."
"What about blood? Isn't he going to need it?" Toru asked. "They drink it, don't they?"
"Not with the seal I put on him, it's not needed to survive. He is more like a human so he can eat what we do," Yagari explained, as he placed a blanket over Ryo's body. "Let's go and let him sleep." Toru turned off the light, as the two left his room.
10 Years Later
"Come on, Ryo try it," Toru held out an ice cream cone to his younger brother. Ryo sniffed it before he grabbed it. "Trust me it's good and cold. You'll like it." He licked his own ice cream, as Ryo looked at his.
"I guess so," Ryo whispered, as he tried the sweet treat. His eyes widened, as he continued to eat it. Toru had to smile, as he watched Ryo eat his cone.
In the 10 years that they have been living together, the two boys were so close they were almost like brothers.
At 16, Toru grew into a strong young teen. His green hair was kept short and he was extremely handsome. He was also quite taller, nearly as tall as Yagari. His calves were somewhat thick, his biceps strong, and his chest was tight and flat. He worked out to maintain this body in the years he was a hunter and he knew it paid off. He was one of the strongest despite his age and also one of the ones the association trusted the most.
At 15, Ryo was a very handsome young teen. He was almost the same height as Toru and he was just as handsome. His silver strands were kept short of the sides. He also had five silver earrings; three on his left ear near the top and two on his right bottom. He was skinny and delicate-looking, but despite his physical appearance, he was quite strong. He was also one of the strongest hunters in the association and one of the ones they also trusted.
Once they finished the ice cream the two hunters walked silently through the city, not drawing attention to themselves. They met up with Yagari at the association, who looked straight at Ryo. "Put on this wig now," he grunted bringing out a black wig. With confusion, Ryo did as he was told with Toru's help, and they managed to conceal his silver hair. Yagari held out a contact container. "Also put these in. There is something you need to see without drawing attention to yourself." After putting in the blue contacts, the younger hunters followed him in
Suddenly the presence of purebloods invaded their senses. Ryo looked at Toru, who only shrugged. Standing in the front of the group was Toshiro, who recently woke up to find out his 'son' was dead. Ryo felt himself freeze as Toru gave a silent gasp. His face...was identical to Ryo's. Both Yagari and Toru looked at him, as he felt tears. He knew this man, but he couldn't remember how. He turned to them and shook his head. Revealing himself to Toshiro would put all three of them at risk. Despite how many years passed, the outcome would be grim.
Toshiro's words were finally heard, once the shock wore off. "I only have one son and his name is Ichiru. Then I also have my daughter Kaiya. They are both vampire hunters. Last is my wife Shizuka. She is not a hunter, is that what upsets you?"
The association president sighed at him, as Toshiro growled. "You're lucky none of us are strong enough to kill you, Toshiro. Shizuka is a danger to us all and you let her back into your life?"
"After she saved Yuuki Kuran years ago and learn my eldest son Zero was killed, I didn't see how I could be angry with her. The council knows she is under my protection and I'm letting you know that as well. If you also want to threaten to kill me, I will have no hesitation ripping your head off and everyone else present." Toshiro growled again, as the hunters present recoiled. "
"We have your assignment, Toshiro. I think it would be best for us all and for you to leave now. Some of our hunters aren't used to you yet," the president looked over at the young hunters, who seemed terrified. Within seconds, Toshiro was gone and the president looked at them. "Toshiro and all of his family is off limits. we will deal with him soon." The President's face lit up with a cruel smile. "We will kill all purebloods, including him."
