Hanging On The Edge-Ch 3
Penelope laid her head down on Derek's shoulder and closed her eyes as pain rolled over her head and foot, Derek stopped moving and said, "are you aright?", she said, "my head and foot are hurting, I'm alright, I'm alright". Derek said, "don't worry we'll be up to the medics soon", she looked up at him and weakly smiled before laying her head back down as they continued making their way up the side of the mountain.
JJ, Emily and Reid were waiting patiently to see their friend while Hotch and Dave were busy checking out the accident scene to see what they could find any evidence that would help them determine what happened. As they reached the top of the hill Derek said, "we're here sweetness", Penelope looked around and said, "th th thank you, thank you so much for coming to save me".
He winked at her and said, "you're very welcome", he looked around to see the medics making their way from the ambulance, he then gently placed her down, making sure to hold on to her because of her foot. Penelope moved to balance herself and a wave of pain shot from her foot up to her knee and she felt her leg giving out on her, seconds later she felt herself being lifted into Derek's arms.
She looked up at him as he said, "easy there goddess, I've got you, I've got you", she blushed and then her attention turned to her friends as they all said her name in unison, she grinned and said, "hello my team of super heroes". JJ said, "are you alright Garcie?", she said, "other than a headache and a hurt foot I'm good Jayje, I promise" causing her friends to all smile.
When the medics made it over to her Derek gently placed her down on the gurney, he stepped back and watched as she was quickly checked Reid walked over and said, "is she really alright?", Derek looked up at the younger man and said, "she's probably got a concussion and possibly a broken foot but I think she'll be okay". Penelope winced in pain as the medic started examining the bump on her forehead, he said, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you", Derek said, "easy on sweetness Todd okay, she's had a rough day".
Penelope grinned and blushed as the medic said, "okay, okay" causing Penelope to laugh, Emily and the others turned around when Hotch and Dave walked up to them and she said, "did you find anything?", Hotch said, "only skid marks and pieces of park lights from Garcia's rental car". Dave gently touched Penelope's forehead and said, "you okay kitten?", she nodded her head and said, "I'm fine papa bear, it's gonna take more than this to take out the all seeing all knowing oracle".
As Derek watched the older man touch Penelope he couldn't help but feel, well the feeling was jealousy but why, why was he jealous of one of her friends, he shook his head trying to clear away his thoughts as one of his men walked over to let him know that they were getting ready to head down to check out Penelope's car. Derek nodded his head and said, "I want to go down with you to check it out".
The man nodded his head and then stood as Derek said, "take care sweetness", Penelope said, "you too and Derek", he smiled and said, "yes", she said, "thank you again for everything you did for me, I don't know how I will ever be able to repay you". Derek put his hand on hers and said, "how about you stay safe and we'll call it even", she smiled and said, "you have a deal angel fish, you have a deal".
Hotch looked at Derek and said, "if you don't mind can you forward any information and pictures to this number" as he handed Derek a card with all of his contact information on it, Derek said, "sure, no problem Mr. Hotchner". Hotch said, "please call me Hotch", Derek held out his hand and said, "Morgan, Derek Morgan", Derek said, "I'll let you know if we find out anything", Hotch nodded his head and they all watched as Derek and the rest of his team got their equipment ready and disappeared over the side of the mountain,
JJ climbed into the back of the ambulance to ride with Penelope while the others climbed into their cars and fell in line behind them as they headed to the hospital to get their friend and the heart of their team checked out.
