Clyde's 1st Trial
Lincoln, his sisters, Clyde, and the other Master Dojo students stand as Master Mustard speaks to everyone.
"Okay, everyone. With young Clyde here now enrolled at our dojo, we can really get started on our training." said Master Mustard. "You will all be facing three trials. Whoever completes all three trials will receive the dojo's secret armor." Everyone looked astounded.
"Secret armor?" says a student.
"What's it like?" asked another student.
"I want it." said another student. Master Mustard chuckles at everyone's enthusiasm.
"That's the spirit." said Master Mustard. "Now lemme explain the first trial..." He was in the middle of that sentence when Klara pushes past Leni, much to Leni's annoyance, and runs up to him.
"But, Master. I haven't gotten my uniform yet." said Klara. "It's not fair that Clyde gets his uniform before I do when I've been here longer than him!" Master Mustard looked surprised.
"Oh dear. Didn't I give you your uniform yet?" replied Master Mustard. "Sorry. My bad. That's easy to fix, though! I have another uniform for you right here." Klara smiles.
"Hee hee! The squeaky wheel gets the grease." said Klara while Leni glares at her. Master Dojo holds out another uniform for Klara. She takes it and was about to go to the room Clyde changed into his uniform in when something moves at astonishing speed and takes the uniform. "Huh?! What was that?! Where did my uniform go?!" Everyone looks around and sees three Alolan Slowpokes with each one of them holding parts of Klara's uniform.
"Ha! Got your uniform!" said the Slowpoke.
"That speed! Was it really those Slowpokes?!" asked a student.
"I've never seen a Slowpoke move that fast before!" said another student. Klara frowns and walks up to the Slowpokes.
"Hey! Give me my uniform back right now!" said Klara. The Slowpokes turn to look at each other.
"Should we give her the uniform back?" asked a Slowpoke.
"Nah! Let's have some fun!" said another of the Slowpoke. They all turn around to look at Klara. Then without warning, they all ran towards the dojo's doors.
"You want the uniform? Come and get it!" said one of the Slowpokes. Klara stares at disbelief at what happened.
"Hey! Get back here!" said Klara as she chases after the Slowpokes as Leni smirks at her. Master Mustard coughs to get everyone's attention.
"Oops! I guess I let them out of their pokeballs a little too soon! Heh heh heh!" said Master Mustard.
"Master...What's up with those Slowpokes?" asked a student.
"This is the first trial, my students... You've all gotta chase after those fast Slowpokes, trained with care by little old me!" said Master Mustard. "But that's not all, you need to defeat them, too! And while you're at it, could you get Klara's Dojo Uniform back?"
"What?!" says a student.
"Do we have to?!" asked another student.
"They're so fast!" said another student.
"Well, that's that! Do your best you lot!" said Master Mustard. He then turns and walks towards his living room. Everyone looks with disbelief, but their disbelief quickly becomes resolve and they all exit the dojo to attempt the trial. Lincoln's group decide what to do next.
"So what now?" asked Lana.
"Are you going to try and catch those Slowpokes, Clyde?" asked Lincoln. Clyde gets a look of determination on his face.
"Yeah. This is my time to shine!" said Clyde.
"Do you want our help?" asked Luna.
"No. I want to do this on my own." said Clyde.
"Are you sure, Clyde?" asked Lucy.
"I'm sure." said Clyde. Lincoln, seeing his best friend's determination, smiles at him.
"Do it, Clyde! Show those Slowpokes who's boss!" said Lincoln. Everyone else gives Clyde their support.
"But don't be too quick about it." said Leni. "I like seeing Klara frustrated."
"Yeah." said Lola. With that, they exit the dojo in time to see some students trying to block the Slowpokes' path to the Fields of Honor. The Slowpokes quickly dash down another path to a wetlands area. Lincoln brings up his map of the Isle of Armor.
"It looks like they're move toward an area called the Soothing Wetlands." said Lincoln.
"What are you guys going to do while I'm doing my trial?" asked Clyde.
"Maybe we'll explore the area some more." said Lincoln.
"And also try and find more of those Alolan Digletts for that guy at the bridge." said Lana.
"And maybe find some more Pearls." said Lola.
"And some more cute Pokemon." said Leni.
"Ooh! I want some more cute Pokemon, too!" said Lola.
"Well I'm off then." said Clyde as he rushes towards the Soothing Wetlands. Lincoln turns to look at his sisters.
"Do you think Clyde will be okay?" asked Lana.
"He'll be fine." said Lincoln.
"Well, dudes. Let's check this place out." said Luna. The other Louds cheer in response. In the Soothing Wetlands, Clyde was watching the other students chase after the speedy Slowpokes in attempts to catch them, but with no success. As Clyde watches, he notices the Slowpokes always stay on the same path.
"If they stick to a certain path, I just need to stand in it and wait for them to come to me; and considering how fast they move, that shouldn't take long." said Clyde. He goes to one of the Slowpoke's paths and waits for it to arrive and soon enough, the Slowpoke arrives. "If I remember correctly, Slowpokes are psychic types, so my Purrloin should be a good match for it." Clyde takes out a pokeball. "Let's go, Purrloin." He throws Purrloin's pokeball and releases her. "Okay, Purrloin, Fake Out!" Purrloin claps her paws together and releases a shockwave that hits Slowpoke, making it flinch. "Now use Fury Swipes!" Purrloin leaps at Slowpoke and repeatedly scratches it across the face. Slowpoke opens its mouth and releases a bubble that floats over to Purrloin and hits her. Purrloin yawns and rubs her left eye. "Oh man, I think that was Yawn. I better end this before Purrloin falls asleep. Okay, Purrloin, use Fury Swipes one more time!" Purrloin repeatedly scratches Slowpoke again, this time knocking it out and making it drop Klara's dojo jacket. Clyde walks over to it and picks it up. "One Slowpoke down, two to go." After the battle, Clyde focused on training his Pokemon some more. He focused on Purrloin for a while and soon she learns Assurance. After that, Purrloin freezes up and she starts to glow. "Purrloin, you're evolving." After the glowing ends, Purrloin is now longer, she now walked on four legs, and she had some circles on her body. Clyde pulls out his Rotom Phone and points it at his newly-evolved Pokemon.
"Liepard, the Cruel Pokemon, and the evolved form of Purrloin. This stealthy Pokemon sneaks up behind prey without making any sound at all. It competes with Thievul over territory." said the Rotom Phone.
"This is so cool!" said Clyde. "You look so sleek and magnificent."
"I know. But feel free to bring it up often." said Liepard. After that, they head for the next Slowpoke's path and get in front of it, making it stop to battle.
"Okay, use Assurance." said Clyde. Liepard moves at the Slowpoke and thrusts her front claws forward, hitting it and doing super effective damage. Slowpoke's eyes glowed red and a red aura engulfs Liepard. "Oh no. I recognize that move back at the Watchtower Ruins when Lincoln battled those ghosts. That was Disable, so I don't think you can use Assurance until the battle is done."
"So now what, Clyde?" asked Liepard.
"We have plenty of other moves, so it's no big deal." said Clyde. "Use Fury Swipes." Liepard lunges forward and unleashes a barrage of slashes on Slowpoke which was enough to knock it out and making it drop Klara's Dojo T-shirt and shorts. "Two down, one to go." After seeing the third Slowpoke, he walks over to where it is. As he does, he hears something approaching him. He turns to see a brown, buffalolike Pokemon with a dark brown afro charging at him. Clyde jumps to the side, barely dodging the Pokemon. Clyde takes out his Rotom Phone and points at the Pokemon.
"Bouffalant, the Bash Buffalo Pokemon. These Pokemon live in herd of about twenty individuals. Bouffalant that betray the herd will lose the hair on their heads for some reason." said the Rotom Phone.
"Hey! I don't know what your problem is, but I'm in the middle of a trial!" exclaimed Clyde. The Bouffalant digs his front right hoof into the ground. "Fine! If that's the way you want it." He takes out a pokeball. "Let's go, Ralts!" He throws Ralts pokeball and releases him. "All right, Ralts, use Psybeam." Ralts unleashes a beam of multicolored energy from its front horn and it hits Bouffalant. Bouffalant charges at Ralts and hits him repeatedly with his horns. "Ralts, Draining Kiss!" Ralts jumps at Bouffalant and kisses it on the nose, draining some of its stamina and healing Ralts' wounds. Bouffalant becomes surrounded by orange energy and unleashes it as a beam and it hits Ralts, knocking it to the ground. He struggles to get up. "Use Psybeam again!" Ralts unleashes another Psybeam and it hits Bouffalant in the face. It stumbles around dizzily. "Looks like Psybeam caused Bouffalant to become confused." Bouffalant charges, but runs into a cliff wall. It walks back and falls to the ground. Clyde takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at the Boufflant, hitting it and sucking it in. After it wiggles around for a couple of seconds, it stops and clicks, indicating Bouffalant's capture. "Yeah! Bouffalant is mine!" Clyde turns to Ralts. "You okay, pal?" Ralts nods, but suddenly freezes and begins to glow. "Wow! Ralts, you're evolving!" Ralts begins to grow and when the glowing stopped, Ralts was now taller, his eyes were visible, his horns were now on the sides of his head, he now had two green side ponytails going down each side of his heads, his legs were green and slender, his arms were slender and white and he has a sort of a tutu around his waist. Clyde takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at his newly-evolved Ralts.
"Kirlia, the Emotion Pokemon and the evolved form of Ralts. It has a psychic power that enables it to distort the space around it and see into the future." said the Rotom Phone.
"Cool." said Clyde. He then uses his Rotom Phone to learn more about his new Bouffalant. "Okay, my new Bouffalant is male, he knows Tackle, Leer, Focus Energy, Fury Attack, and Revenge. He has the Reckless ability, which powers up his attacks that causes recoil damage." He returns Kirlia to his pokeball. "Now let's get that last Slowpoke." A minute later, Clyde was facing the last Slowpoke. "Liepard, Fury Swipes!" Liepard leaps at Slowpoke and repeatedly scratches it, knocking it out and making it drop Klara's dojo gloves and legwear. "Yeah, I'm on fire." He licks his thumb and puts it against his hip while making a sizzling sound. Clyde then heads back towards the Master Dojo. Once he gets there, he enters to see Master Mustard and Ms. Honey talking. They turn to see Clyde coming in.
"Clyde. Welcome back." said Master Mustard. He sees Klara's uniform in his arms. "And I see you got Klara's uniform back." Just then, Klara and the rest of the students rush into the dojo with Klara running up to Clyde.
"You got my uniform back?!" asked Klara.
"Yep. Here you go." said Clyde as he hands Klara her dojo uniform.
"Thank you so much!" said Klara. Master Mustard walks up to Clyde.
"Well done, Clyde! You completed the first trial like it was nothing!" said Master Mustard. "This is the first time since Leon that anyone was able to handle all three fast Slowpokes on their own!" He then turns to look at the other students. "Everyone else caught up to the Slowpokes, but they couldn't defeat them!"
"Ughhh." Klara says with embarrassment.
"Tell you what. Anyone who was able to catch up to a Slowpoke at least once gets a pass." said Master Mustard. "Clyde really outdid himself, so it's only fair everyone else gets another chance. Try to make a comeback, everybody!"
"Yes, Master!" the other students say. Master Mustard turns to look at Ms. Honey.
"By the way, Honey; where are the little ones?" Master Mustard asked.
"Oh, that's right, darling! I had nearly forgotten..." said Ms. Honey.
"Little ones?" says Clyde. Ms. Honey turns to look at in the direction of the dojo's living room.
"Squirtle! Bulbasaur! Come on in, sweeties!" shouts Ms. Honey. Out of the living room came two Pokemon. One was a blue turtlelike Pokemon that stood on two legs with a brown shell, while the other one was a small quadraped Pokemon with blue green skin with darker patches on it. It had ear-like structures on top of its head and a large green plant bulb on its back. Clyde takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the turtle Pokemon first.
"Squirtle, the Tiny Turtle Pokemon. When it feels threatened, it draws its limbs inside its shell and sprays water from its mouth." said the Rotom Phone. Clyde then points his Rotom Phone at the blue green Pokemon. "Bulbasaur, the Seed Pokemon. While it is young, it uses the nutrients that are stored in the seed on its back in order to grow." Ms. Honey walks up behind them
"These are our sweet little Pokemon, Bulbasaur and Squirtle." said Ms. Honey. "We've all been taking care of them together. And I'd say they're more than a little curious about your strength as a trainer."
"They are?" replied Clyde.
"Yes. Why don't you pick one to keep for yourself? You did succeed in the trial, after all!" said Ms. Honey. "And just so you know, these two have been raised in a very special way. When they evolve, they'll be able to Gigantamax."
"Gigantamax? What's that?" asked Clyde.
"It's like Dynamaxing, but the Pokemon doing it takes on a more powerful form. But only their fully-evolved forms can do it." explained Ms. Honey.
"Really?! Wow, that would be so awesome!" said Clyde. He looks at their information on the Rotom Phone, then he looks at both Pokemon. "Hmm. I already have a water type on my team; but I don't have a grass type." He looks back at Ms. Honey. "I think I'll have Bulbasaur." Bulbasaur smiles and runs up to Clyde.
"It seems Bulbasaur is pleased as punch that you chose him." said Ms. Honey. Clyde looks at Bulbasaur's information on his Rotom Phone.
"This says that Bulbasaur is a boy, he knows Tackle and Growl right now, and he has the Overgrow ability which increases the power of his grass type moves when he has 1/3 of his stamina remaining." said Clyde. Ms. Honey hands Clyde Bulbasaur's pokeball.
"Take good care of our little, Bulbasaur." said Ms. Honey.
"Don't worry. I'll take good care of him." said Clyde. He returns Bulbasaur to his pokeball. Master Mustard walks up to the students.
"Just so you know, certain Pokemon can Gigantamax, but very few are born with the ability to do so. It's possible to bestow upon Pokemonwith the ability to Gigantamax by having them drink Max Soup. It's a secret recipe that we have at this dojo and it requires Max Mushrooms." said Master Mustard. "In fact, your next trial is to locate some Max Mushrooms we can use to make Max Soup with. You are required to bring back three of them. They grow mainly in dark and humid places."
"Master Mustard? What do Max Mushrooms look like?" asked Clyde.
"A good question, Clyde." said Master Mustard. "They are large, red, and have a spiral pattern on them. And with that, your next trial begins! I'm countin' on ya!"
"Yes, Master Mustard!" said the students.
