More Training
Before Lincoln began his Alolan Sandshrew's training, he decided to look through the book of Cram-O-Matic recipes to see if there's items he would like to make. He saw that a regular pokeball would require any four Apricorns of the same color to make. Lincoln had two Red Apricorns in his backpack from when they were looking for Pink Apricorns for Lola to make her Heal Balls. Lincoln puts the book back in his backpack. He begins going around the Fields of Honor and shook several berry trees. He finds several apricorns and berries. Lincoln gathers them all up, puts them in his backpack and runs towards the dojo. Meanwhile, at Brawlers' Cave, Luna was in there, looking around. She also trained her Pokemon and soon, Roggenrola learned Headbutt. Luna continued to look around the cave.
"Oh man, everyone else has lots of Pokemon, but I only have four." said Luna. "I gotta find some Pokemon so I can catch up." She looks around the cave when she sees a blue, tadpole-like Pokemon with a white and black swirl on its abdomen walking by. "Whoa. What's this Pokemon?" She takes out her Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Poliwag, the Tadpole Pokemon. In rivers with fast-flowing water, this Pokémon will cling to a rock by using its thick lips, which act like a suction cup." said the Rotom Phone. Luna pulls a pokeball out of her backpack.
"I asked for a Pokemon, and now I'm going to get one." said Luna. "Toxel, you're up, little dude." She throws Toxel's pokeball and releases him. Poliwag turns towards Luna and Toxel and glares at them. "Looks like this Pokemon's ready to rumble, so let's not keep it waiting then. Toxel, use Nuzzle!" Toxel rubs his hands against his cheeks until electricity started coming out of them. He then toddles over to Poliwag and nuzzles his cheeks against it, causing super effective damage. Poliwag begins twitching and is surrounded by electricity. "Looks like someone's paralyzed." Poliwag breaks through its paralysis and fires a glob of mud out of its mouth and it hits Toxel, dealing super effective damage. Poliwag then opens its mouth and releases multiple bubbles from it and they hit Toxel, knocking him to the ground. "Whoa. You okay, Toxel?" Toxel nods. He takes out the Sitrus Berry he has with him and eats it, restoring his stamina. "Good thing you had that berry on you, Toxel." Toxel's belly begins rumbling. Luna suddenly remembers something. "Toxel, use Belch!" Toxel lets out a loud belch, releasing purple rings of energy from his mouth, followed by a wave of purple energy and they hit Poliwag, causing a big explosion. When the smoke from the explosion cleared, Poliwag was lying on the ground with swirly eyes. Luna takes out an empty pokeball and throws it Poliwag, hitting it and sucking it in. After the pokeball wiggled around a few times, it stops and clicks, indicating Poliwag's capture. Luna walks over and picks up Poliwag's pokeball. "Rockin! Poliwag is mine!" She turned towards Toxel. "You were rad, Toxel." Toxel gives a thumbs up, making Luna laugh. Luna takes out her Rotom Phone to learn about her new Poliwag. "Okay, this says Poliwag's a dude, he knows Water Gun, Hypnosis, Pound, Mud Shot, and Bubble Beam; and he has the Water Absorb ability, which restores some of his stamina when he's hit with a water type move. Sweet."
Meanwhile at Challenge Beach, Lola was looking around for more pearl stuff; but she also took the time to train her Pokemon, especially her new Popplio. Her Minncino learned Swift and Encore, her Cherubi learned Magical Leaf, her Cutiefly learned Draining Kiss, her Happiny learned Covet and Charm, her Alolan Vulpix learned Ice Shard, Spite, and Icy Wind, and Popplio learned Disarming Voice, Aqua Jet, Baby-Doll Eyes, Icy Wind, and Sing. After Popplio learned Sing, something else happened with her. She suddenly froze up and started to glow. Lola's eyes widen in astonishment.
"Popplio! You're evolving!" said Lola. She watches as Popplio started to change. When she was done, she was a lighter shade of blue, her eyes were brighters, her ears were upright and were shaped liked orbs of various colors, and her most prominent feature was that she appeared to be wearing a white and sky blue skirt. Lola takes out her Rotom Phone and points it at her newly evolved Popplio.
"Brionne, the Pop Star Pokemon, and the evolved form of Popplio. On nights when the sea is calm, Brionne dance with one another to the singing of the Primarina that's leading them." said the Rotom Phone.
"The Pop Star Pokemon? Sounds like this Pokemon really does suit me with my star qualities." said Lola. She looks around Challenge Beach for a bit longer before she notices a tower nearby. Out of curiosity, and also to see if there were any pearl items around it, she goes to explore it. When she looks behind it, she sees a pendant with a blue, teardrop-shaped jewel on it. "Hmmm. This will look beautiful on my new Brionne." She lets Brionne out of her pokeball and puts the pendant around her neck. "Oh, Brionne; that necklace goes wonderfully with your skin color." Brionne smiles and claps her flippers together, making Lola smile.
Back at the dojo, Lincoln and Hyde were standing in front of the Cram-O-Matic as it shook. Seconds later, it opens its beak and a pokeball pops out. Lincoln picks it up.
"Thanks, Hyde." said Lincoln.
"Anytime, Lincoln." said Hyde. Lincoln soon left the dojo. At the Field of Honor; Lincoln trained his Alolan Sandshrew while keeping Raboot out in case things got too rough for Sandshrew. Soon, Sandshrew learned Powder Snow, Rollout, and Fury Cutter. Lincoln also trains his other Pokemon as well. His Raboot learned Agility, his Gyarados learned Crunch, his Corvisquire learned Taunt, and his Rockruff learned Howl, Bite, and Rock Tomb. During Riolu's training, he suddenly froze up.
"Riolu?" says Lincoln. When Riolu started to glow, Lincoln figured out what was going on with him. Lincoln watched as Riolu started to change. When the glowing stopped, Riolu was taller, his ears were longer, and he had spikes coming out of his hands and chest. Lincoln points his Rotom Phone at his newly evolved Riolu.
"Lucario, the Aura Pokemon, and the evolved form of Riolu. It can tell what people are thinking. Only Trainers who have justice in their hearts can earn this Pokémon's trust." said the Rotom Phone.
"This is awesome!" said Lincoln as he looked at more of Lucario's information. "This says you just learned Aura Sphere, Laser Focus, Power-Up Punch, and Calm Mind."
"I take it you are pleased with my evolution?" asked Lucario.
"It's awesome; not that you weren't when you were Riolu mind you." said Lincoln. Lucario smiles in response.
"I hope we can continue to grow stronger together." said Lucario.
"Me, too." said Lincoln. He looks down to see a Pearl in the sand. He bends down and picks it up. Remembering something, he looks through the Cram-O-Matic recipe book he got from Hyde.
"What are you looking up?" asked Lucario.
"Well this says that I needed a Pearl to help make a Sea Incense which I can use to increase the power of Gyarados' water type moves." said Lincoln.
"Will you make a Sea Incense for me, Lincoln?" asked Gyarados.
"Of course." said Lincoln. Gyarados nuzzles Lincoln, making him laugh. "Let's get this Pearl to the Dojo before Lola finds out about it and tries taking it by force."
"But, Lincoln; she's only six-years-old." said Raboot.
"You have no idea what she's capable of." said Lincoln as he shudders as memories of what Lola was capable of enters his mind. He returns his Pokemon to their pokeballs and starts walking towards the Master Dojo. Meanwhile, Lucy was training her new Rowlet at Challenge Beach by having him battle water type Pokemon due to them being weak against grass type moves. Her Rowlet learned Astonish, much to Lucy's 'delight' due to it being a ghost type move, Peck, Shadow Sneak, another ghost type move to Lucy's 'joy', and Razor Leaf. Sometime after, Rowlet begins glowing.
"Rowlet. You're evolving." said Lucy. Rowlet began to grow. When the glowing stopped, Rowlet was taller, he was mostly white with dark brown feathers covering his head, two green leaves, one longer than the other going around his face, still had two leaves below his chin resembling a bowtie, and two pointed leaves going down his rear forming his tail. Lucy takes out her Rotom Phone and points it at her newly evolved Rowlet.
"Dartrix, the Blade Quill Pokemon, and the evolved form of Rowlet. It never slacks when it comes to the task of cleaning its feathers. Thorough preening keeps it looking spiffy and its blade quills nice and sharp." said the Rotom Phone.
"Wicked. You are just one evolution away from being part ghost, Dartrix." said Lucy.
"Will that make you happy when I evolve?" asked Dartrix.
"I'm happy right now." said Lucy. Dartrix looks at her and couldn't see a smile.
"Are you sure you're happy?" asked Dartrix.
"Trust me." said Lucy.
"Okay, if you say so." said Dartrix. At another area called Loop Lagoon. Luna was looking around for more Pokemon after she was done looking around Brawler's Cave. She is looking around in a cave when a black Pokemon that resembled a sea urchin was moving around.
"Whoa. What's this Pokemon?" asked Luna. She takes out her Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Pincurchin, the Sea Urchin Pokemon. It stores electricity in each spine. Even if one gets broken off, it still continues to emit electricity for at least three hours." said the Rotom Phone. Luna looks back at Pincurchin.
"You remind me of a hairstyle of a punk rockstar." said Luna, pulling a pokeball out of her backpack. "That settles it, I'm catching you. Roggenrola, let's rock!" She throws Roggenrola's pokeball and releases her. "Okay, Roggenrola, Mud Slap!" Roggenrola kicks mud on the cave floor onto Pincurchin's face, causing super effective damage. Pincurchin unleashes a spiral of water from its mouth and it hits Roggenrola, dealing super effective damage. "So not cool, brah. Use Smackdown!" Roggenrola forms a ball of golden energy and it hits Pincurchin, knocking it back. Pinurchin releases a small burst of electricity from its body and it hits Roggenrola. "Use Headbutt!" Roggenrola runs at Pincurchin and rams into it, knocking it to the ground. Luna quickly takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at Pincurchin, hitting it. It gets sucked into the pokeball and after it wiggled around a few times, it clicks, indicating Pincurchin's capture. "Rockin! I got Pincurchin!" She then uses her Rotom Phone to learn more about her new Pincurchin. "Okay. Pincurchin's a dudette, she knows Peck, Thunder Shock, Water Gun, Charge, and Fury Attack. She has the Lightning Rod ability, which attracts electic attacks to her, and instead of electric attacks hurting her, they increase her special attack strength. Righteous!"
With Clyde in the Forest of Focus, he was focusing on training his new Litten while keeping his Flapple out to help him if things were too tough. During the training, Litten learned Lick, Roar, Fury Swipes, and Bite. Also during the training, Litten started to glow.
"Litten! You're evolving!" said Clyde. He watched as Litten started to change before his eyes. When he was done, his body was bigger, his body was more reddish-orange now with black stripes around each of his legs, his ears were longer and he had a long cowlick sticking up between them, and on his neck was a yellow orb. Clyde took out his Rotom Phone and points it at the new Pokemon.
"Torracat, the Fire Cat Pokemon, and the evolved form of Litten. When facing a powerful enemy, Torracat's fighting spirit gets pumped up, and its fire bell blazes hotter." said the Rotom Phone.
"Yes! You evolved!" said Clyde. Torra smiles at Clyde who smiles back at him. "How are you feeling, buddy?"
"I feel a lot stronger now, thanks to you." said Torracat.
"No problem, Torracat." said Clyde. During more of his new Torracat's training, he learned Double Kick and Fire Fang. Clyde also focused on training his other Pokemon as well. His Kirlia learned Life Dew, his Liepard got a little stronger, his Quagsire learned Yawn, his Bulbasaur learned Poison Powder and Sleep Powder, and his Flapple learned Protect, Dragon Breath, and Dragon Dance. During his Bulbasaur's training, he froze up.
"Clyde? I feel funny." said Bulbasaur.
"What's wrong?" asked Clyde. He got his answer when Bulbasaur started to glow. "Bulbasaur, you're evolving!" He watched as Bulbasaur started to change. When he was done, he was bigger, his body was blue, his teeth were sharper, and the bulb on his back was opened up, revealing a red flower bud with four palm leaves surrounding it. Clyde takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at his new Pokemon.
"Ivysaur, the Seed Pokemon, and the evolved form of Bulbasaur. Exposure to sunlight adds to its strength. Sunlight also makes the bud on its back grow larger." said the Rotom Phone.
"This is awesome!" said Clyde as he hugs his new Ivysaur, who lets out a sigh of content. After Ivysaur's evolution, Clyde continued to train him in the Soothing Wetlands where there were some Pokemon he'd have an advantage against. During that training, Ivysaur learned Seed Bomb and Take Down. Clyde knew he had a big battle tomorrow against Klara, so he decided to train more in preparation for it.
At Challenge Road, Lana was busy training her Pokemon. Her Pokemon became stronger with each wild Pokemon they defeated. Her Salandit learned Nasty Plot, and her Herdier learned Play Rough. She looks around Challenge Road and sees a Pokemon Den with a pillar of light coming out of it.
"Hey. I wonder what's in there." said Lana. She walks over to the den and climbs into it. Once inside, she sees a light gray, birdlike Pokemon with an orange head, black beak, and yellow marking on its eyes looming over her. Lana takes out her Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Fletchling, the Tiny Robin Pokemon. When this Pokémon gets excited, its body temperature increases sharply. If you touch a Fletchling with bare hands, you might get burned." said the Rotom Phone.
"I don't have one of these. I'll capture it. I could use a flying type." said Lana as she pulls out a pokeball. "Salandit, you go, girl!" She throws Salandit's pokeball and releases her. She returns Salandit to her pokeball and uses her Dynamax Band to make it bigger. She throws it and releases Salandit, but she was bigger now. "All right, Salandit, use Max Ooze!" A large puddle of purple slime forms underneath Salandit. A geyser of purple slime bursts up from underneath Fletchling and hits it, damaging it. Salandit's special attack strength increases from the secondary effect of Max Ooze. Fletchling unleashes a cyclone at Salandit and hits her. "Salandit, Max Flare!" Salandit unleashes a massive beam of fire at Fletchling and hits it. Energy explodes from Fletchling and she freezes. Lana takes out an empty pokeball and uses her Dynamax Band to make it bigger. She throws it towards Fletchling until it stops near her and opens up. Fletchling gets sucked into the pokeball and it crashes onto the ground. After it moved around a couple times, it shrinks and clicks, indicating Fletchling's capture. "Woohoo! Fletchling is mine!" Fletchling's pokeball vanishes. Lana climbs out of the den and finds a couple Balm Mushrooms and some berries nearby. She gathers them up and uses her Rotom Phone to learn more about her new Fletchling. "Okay. My Fletchling is a girl, she knows Peck, Growl, Quick Attack, Ember, and Flail. She has the Big Pecks ability, which keeps her defense from being lowered. Cool!"
With Leni, she was exploring the Forest of Focus while training her Pokemon. Her Kirlia learned Life Dew, she spent some extra time training her Buneary and she learned Quick Attack, Double Kick, and Charm; her Fomantis learned Slash, and Dedenne learned Charm and Parabolic Charge. As she explores the area a bit more, she sees what looked like a large seed.
"What's this seed?" asked Leni. Not knowing what else to do with it, she puts it in her backpack. As she walks through the forest some more, something flies at her from a tree. She ducks and narrowly dodges it. When she looks to see what almost hit her, she sees a white and black squirrel-like Pokemon with yellow arm flaps gliding gently down onto the ground. Leni then takes out her Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Emolga, the Sky Squirrel Pokemon. This Pokémon absolutely loves sweet berries. Sometimes it stuffs its cheeks full of so much food that it can't fly properly." said the Rotom Phone.
"O-M-Gosh! You're totes adorbs!" said Leni.
"Thank you." said the Emolga. A growl was heard, scaring Leni.
"What was that?!" asked Leni. She listens again and growling is heard again. She then looks at Emolga who had its paws on its stomach.
"Sorry. That was my tummy." said Emolga.
"Oh. You must be hungry." said Leni.
"I am. I flew at you earlier because I smelled berries coming from you." explained Emolga. "I'm sorry if I startled you."
"Oh don't worry about it." said Leni. She reaches into her backpack and pulls out some berries she found when she was helping find Pink Apricorns for Lola to make Heal Balls with. She hands them to Emolga who happily eats them from her hand, making Leni giggle.
"Thank you so much." said Emolga.
"You're totes welcome." said Leni. As Leni walks away, she hears movement behind and she turns to see Emolga following her. Emolga looks at her with a smile. "Would you like to come with me?" Emolga jumps up onto Leni's shoulder and nuzzles her cheek. Leni smiles and takes out an empty pokeball. Emolga taps it with her nose and she gets captured. Leni takes out her Rotom Phone and looks up her new Emolga's information. "This says that Emolga is a girl, she knows Nuzzle, Tail Whip, Double Team, Quick Attack, Thunder Shock, and Charge. She has the Static ability which could paralyze a Pokemon that hits her with a physical attack." Emolga's pokeball teleports to storage. Leni decides to start heading back to the Fields of Honor.
Back at the dojo, Lincoln walks out of it, holding what appeared to be a blue incense burner. Lincoln lets Gyarados out of her pokeball.
"Here you go, Gyarados. One Sea Incense." said Lincoln. He gives the Sea Incense to Gyarados.
"Thank you, Lincoln." said Gyarados. Lincoln returns Gyarados to her pokeball and walks to the Field of Honor where the others were just arriving.
"Hey, guys. How are you guys, doing?" asked Lincoln.
"Things are going amazing, Linky." said Lola. "My Popplio evolved."
"My Litten evolved, too." said Clyde.
"My Rowlet evolved, also." said Lucy from behind Lincoln, scaring him.
"I caught a couple new Pokemon." said Luna.
"I caught a Fletchling." said Lana.
"I caught a cute Emolga." said Leni.
"My Riolu evolved, and I made a new Sea Incense with the Cram-O-Matic for my Gyarados." said Lincoln. "Looks like it's been a great day for us."
"You said it." said Clyde. Just then, Lincoln's Rotom Phone rang. Seeing his Mom's name on the Caller ID, he answers and sees the rest of his family and Clyde's dads gathered on and around the living room couch.
"Hey, kids. How are things in Galar?" asked Lynn Sr. The Loud kids that were in Galar, and Clyde told them all about what they accomplished that day.
"I'm glad you're all doing okay." said Rita.
"Thanks, Mom." said Leni.
"And Clyde, be careful during your final trial tomorrow." said Harold.
"I will, Dad." said Clyde. They talk for a few more minutes before ending the call. Lincoln then looks at Clyde.
"So, Clyde. Tomorrow's your final test. Think you're ready for it?" asked Lincoln.
"I hope so. I don't want all that training to be for nothing." said Clyde.
"Well I hope you beat Klara, Clyde." said Leni.
"Can we have some dinner? I'm hungry." said Lana. "All that training made me hungry."
"Sure, Lana." said Lincoln. The group made dinner and ate. After dinner, they pretty much hung out and when night came, they set up their tents, climbed into their sleeping bags and fell asleep. Clyde will especially need his rest for his final trial the next day.
