More Training and Evolutions
After lunch, Lincoln and the others exit the dojo. As they did, a bright flash of light appeared several feet from them. When the light faded, they saw a green backpack with a beige sleeping bag packed into it.
"Hey, that's all the camping stuff I brought with me to the Great Lakes City Cemetery when me and my friends camped out there." said Ronnie Anne. She walks over to the backpack and picks it up.
"You camped out in a cemetery?" asked Lucy. Ronnie Anne nodded. "Lucky." Lincoln's Rotom Phone rang. He looks at the Caller ID to see Rita's name on it. He answers the video chat and sees his mom in Lisa's room with Lisa and Bobby.
"Hi, Mom." said Lincoln.
"Hi, Lincoln. Bobby brought some camping supplies for Ronnie Anne." said Rita. "We teleported them to where you are and wanted to see if they arrived."
"Yeah, they did, Mom." said Lincoln. Ronnie Anne grabs Lincoln's hands to move the Rotom Phone towards her.
"Thanks, Bobby." said Ronnie Anne.
"You're welcome, sis." replied Bobby. "You wouldn't believe how upset Mom was about you sending yourself to that Galar Region place."
"I knew she wouldn't like it; but I wanted to see those Pokemon up close for myself." said Ronnie Anne.
"I know." said Bobby. "So how is it over there?"
"It's awesome. I already have four Pokemon." said Ronnie Anne.
"Can I see them?" asked Bobby.
"Sure." said Ronnie Anne. She releases Lincoln's hands and pulls out her pokeballs. She throws them and releases her Squirtle, Klefki, Shinx, and Rockruff.
"Whoa. They look so cool." said Bobby. "So what are you up to now?"
"Well we just had lunch. Right now, Lincoln's gonna help me catch more Pokemon." said Ronnie Anne.
"Okay." said Bobby. "Just be careful."
"I will, Bobby." said Ronnie Anne. They talk for a little bit before ending the call. Ronnie Anne turns to Lincoln. "Ready to help me catch more Pokemon?"
"Sure." said Lincoln. Everyone goes off to do their own things. With Clyde, he was focusing on training his Kubfu in the Training Lowlands, mainly battling Tauroses. During the training, Kubfu learned Headbutt, Brick Break, and Detect.
"You're doing great, Kubfu." said Clyde. Kubfu looks at Clyde with a smile.
With Leni, she was training her Pokemon in the Soothing Wetlands. Her Kirlia learned Charm, her Steenee learned Magical Leaf, her Vulpix learned Will-O-Wisp, her Fomantis learned Slash, and her Buneary and Dedenne got stronger.
Lana was at an upper level of Brawler's Cave, training her Pokemon. They all became stronger. Her Diggersby found a couple of Potions thanks to his Pickup ability. Lana also found a Star Piece, knowing she can get some money for it. During the training, her Drilbur began to glow.
"Whoa. Drilbur, you're evolving!" said Lana. She and her other Pokemon watched as Drilbur began growing. When the glowing stopped, Drilbur was now dark brown with red diagonal splotches on her body. She had a large blade extending out of her forehead, and large blades instead of claws. "Cool!" She takes out her Rotom Phone and points it at the newly evolved Drilbur.
"Excadrill, the Subterrene Pokemon and the evolved form of Drilbur. Known as the Drill King, this Pokémon can tunnel through the terrain at speeds of over 90 mph." said the Rotom Phone.
"Drill King? But my Excadrill's a female, so I'm going to think of her as the Drill Queen instead." said Lana. "And according to this, by evolving, you learned Horn Drill. Cool!"
With Lucy, she was training her Pokemon on Challenge Beach. All her Pokemon got a little stronger. After a while, she decided to let her Pokemon rest to regain their energies. As Lucy and Phantump sat with each other, Lucy decided to ask Phantump some questions.
"Phantump?" said Lucy.
"Yes, Lucy?" replied Phantump.
"I remember your pokedex entry a while back that said you were reborn from the spirit of a deceased child." said Lucy.
"Yeah?" replied Phantump.
"I was just curious about what you were like when you were alive." said Lucy. Phantump thinks for a minute.
"I...don't really know." replied Phantump. "As far as I can remember, I've always been a Pokemon."
"So if you were human before, you don't have any memories about your family or friends?" asked Lucy.
"No." said Phantump.
"Whoa. That's depressing, even for me." said Lucy.
"Don't worry about it, Lucy." said Phantump. "I have you, your brother and sisters, Clyde, that Ronnie Anne girl, and all your other Pokemon to be with; so you all are kind of like my new family." Lucy looked touched by that statement.
"Well I don't mind if you think of me as your older sister, and I'm pretty sure my brother and other sisters wouldn't mind if you thought of them as family, either. Phantump smiles as she floats to Lucy and gives her a hug.
"Thank you." said Phantump. Normally, Lucy wouldn't be a big fan of emotional moments such as this, but she's willing to make an exception for now.
With Luna, she was training her Pokemon in the Courageous Cavern. She and her Toxel were in front of a large, turtle-like Pokemon with blue skin, light orange lower jaw and horn, and a light orange and brown shell on its back. Luna takes out her Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Drednaw, the Bite Pokemon, and the evolved form of Chewtle. This Pokémon rapidly extends its retractable neck to sink its sharp fangs into distant enemies and take them down." said the Rotom Phone.
"Be careful, Toxel." said Luna. "This dude looks tough."
"Okay, Luna." said Toxel as he looks at Luna and nods. Drednaw suddenly lunges at Toxel and bites down on him. Toxel suddenly surged with power that boosted his speed.
"That move was probably a dark type move, so your Rattled ability gave you a speed boost." said Luna.
"That's rad!" said Toxel.
"Try using your Tearful Look." said Luna. Toxel looks directly at the Drednaw and starts to shed tears, making the Drednaw feel guilty and lowering its attack strengths. Suddenly, Drednaw drops rocks onto Toxel, pinning him down a little. "Toxel! Don't give up!" Toxel's eyes shot open and he suddenly surged with energy, causing him to start glowing. Luna's eyes widen as she realized what was happening. "Toxel, you're evolving!" She watched as Toxel started to grow taller. When the glowing stopped, not only was Toxel taller, his skin was a darker shade of purple, he had four horns coming out of his head, a surge of electricity flowing from the front of his head down to his lower back like a mohawk, light purple spikes on his wrists, the palms of his hands and front of his torso were yellow, around the top of his thighs were light purple bands with spikes coming out of them, he has yellow stripes on his legs, and he had long protrusions coming out of his torso. While staring at her newly-evolved Toxel with awe, she pulls out her Rotom Phone and points it at him.
"Toxtricity Amped Form, the Punk Pokemon, and the evolved form of Toxel. When this Pokémon sounds as if it's strumming a guitar, it's actually clawing at the protrusions on its chest to generate electricity." said the Rotom Phone. The newly dubbed Toxtricity looks at Luna who was still staring at him with stunned awe.
"Luna? You okay, dudette?" asked Toxtricity. Shaking herself back to her senses, a grin large enough to cover the lower half of her face appears.
"You look so wicked!" said Luna. "You are definitely my kind of Pokemon! I mean, your color, the way you sound like your strumming a guitar when clawing at those things on your chest; it's like you were made for me!" Toxtricity grins at Luna's enthusiasm. Luna looks up her new Toxtricity's information. "This says you know a lot more moves now, such as Spark, Shock Wave, Eerie Impulse, Noble Roar, Scary Face, Taunt, Venoshock, Screech, and Swagger, which I like the sound of since it's Mick Swagger's last name! This says that you now have the Punk Rock ability, oh man that sounds so cool, which increases the power of all your sound-based moves and makes you able to handle ones thrown at you." Toxtricity raises his arms towards the cavern's ceiling, with his thumbs and one of his fingers sticking out, making it look like he's rocking the goat horns, making Luna squeal with delight. They both look back at the Drednaw, who was looking a little scared.
"Ready to rock this guy?" asked Toxtricity.
"You know it, dude!" said Luna. "Let's try your new Shock Wave move!"
"Yeah!" said Toxtricity as he starts strumming the protrusions on his chest, generating a large amount of electricty throughout his body. He lets out one last loud strum, releasing a large, powerful, jolt of electricity which hits Drednaw, sending it flying through the air, and crashing into a wall, knocking it out.
"We did it, dude!" said Luna as she and Toxtricity both started rocking the goat horns.
"Rock and roll!" said Toxtricity as he starts playing a tune on his protrusions, which Luna started rocking out to.
With Lola, she was training her Pokemon at the Forest of Focus. During the training, Lola's Happiny began to glow.
"Happiny, you're evolving!" said Lola. She watched as her Happiny began to grow. Soon, the glowing stopped. Happiny was now bigger, her ponytail was gone and was replaced with three hair growths coming out each side of her head, and in the center of her belly was a pouch with an egg in it.
"Chansey, the Egg Pokemon and the evolved form of Happiny. This species was once very slow. To protect their eggs from other creatures, these Pokémon became able to flee quickly." said the Rotom Phone. Lola runs to Chansey and hugs her.
"Congratulations, Happin...I mean, Chansey." said Lola.
"Thank you, Lola." said Chansey. Lola looks at her Rotom Phone at her newly evolved Chansey's information.
"This says you learned Life Dew, Sing, Fling, and Take Down." said Lola. She then continued to train her Pokemon, making them a little stronger.
In the Potbottom Desert, Lincoln was helping Ronnie Anne train her Pokemon. Ronnie Anne's Squirtle learned Water Pulse, her Klefki learned Crafty Shield and Metal Sound, her Shink learned Spark, and her Rockruff learned Howl and Bite. While they were training, Squirtle and Shinx both froze up.
"Hey. What wrong with you two?" asked Ronnie Anne. To her surprise, they both started to glow.
"Wow! They're evolving." said Lincoln.
"Evolving?" replied Ronnie Anne.
"When Pokemon get strong enough, they transform into different, more powerful, versions of themselves." explained Lincoln. They watched as Squirtle and Shinx started to change. When they were done, Squirtle was bigger, her skin was a different shade of blue, on her head were winglike protrusions, and her tail was more wavy. Shinx was bigger, he had two yellow stripes around each of his ankles, and he had black fur covering most of his head. Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at Ronnie Anne's newly evolved Squirtle.
"Wartortle, the Turtle Pokemon, and the evolved form of Squirtle. It cleverly controls its furry ears and tail to maintain its balance while swimming." said the Rotom Phone.
"That's so cool." said Ronnie Anne. Lincoln then points his Rotom Phone at Ronnie Anne's newly evolved Shinx.
"Luxio, the Spark Pokemon, and the evolved form of Shinx. Upon encountering an opponent, this Pokémon prepares for battle by extending its claws, which can put out 1,000,000 volts of electricity." said the Rotom Phone.
"This is awesome!" said Lincoln. As they explore the Potbottom Desert some more, Lincoln sees a yellow stone that looked like it had fire in it, next to a tree.
"What's that, Lincoln?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"I don't know." said Lincoln. "Maybe next time we see Master Mustard, he can tell us."
"Okay, Lincoln." said Ronnie Anne. They explore the desert some more, with Ronnie Anne taking notice of a Pokemon Den that had a pink beam of light coming out of it. Ronnie Anne puts a hand on Lincoln's shoulder to stop him. She points at the den."Hey, Linc, any idea what that is?" Lincoln looks to where she is pointing to see the Pokemon Den.
"Oh, that's a Pokemon Den." replied Lincoln.
"What are those like?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"Come on, it'll be easier if I showed you." said Lincoln. He leads Ronnie Anne to the Pokemon Den. When they got close, Lincoln's Rotom Phone comes out of his pocket and absorbs the watts from it.
"300 Watts collected and stored." said the Rotom Phone.
"What are Watts, Lincoln?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"In the mainland of Galar, they're some sort of currency to traders in the Wild Area." replied Lincoln. The Pokemon Den suddenly sucks Lincoln and Ronnie Anne into it. They soon found themselves inside the den.
"Whoa." said Ronnie Anne. They suddenly felt something was near them. They looked to see a giant yellow version of Lincoln's Alolan Sandshrew. "That Pokemon's huge!" Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Sandshrew, the Mouse Pokemon. It burrows into the ground to create its nest. If hard stones impede its tunneling, it uses its sharp claws to shatter them and then carries on digging." said the Rotom Phone.
"That's a Dynamaxed Pokemon. They're bigger versions of their regular selves." said Lincoln.
"How are we going to battle it?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"They may be huge, but not unbeatable." replied Lincoln as he pulls out Gyarados' pokeball. "Gyarados, go!" He throws Gyarados' pokeball and releases her. Lincoln then returns Gyarados to her pokeball.
"How come you're returning Gyarados to her pokeball? Aren't you going to have her battle that Pokemon?" asked Ronnie Anne. She got her answer when Lincoln used his Dynamax Band to enlarge Gyarados' pokeball. He then throws it and releases Gyarados, now Dynamaxed. "Whoa."
"Gyarados, Max Geyser!" said Lincoln. Gyarados unleashes a blast of water from her mouth, and it hits Sandshrew, dealing major damage due to Gyarados' Sea Incense powering up her water attacks and Sandshrew being weak against water type attacks. The energy that surrounded Sandshrew explodes, and it freezes. Lincoln then takes out an empty pokeball and uses his Dynamax Band to enlarge it. He throws it at the Sandshrew and when it got close to it, it opens up and sucks Sandshrew into it. The pokeball crashes to the ground and after it moved around a few times, it shrinks to regular size and clicks, indicating Sandshrew's capture. Ronnie Anne stood there with a stunned look on her face.
"That was so cool!" said Ronnie Anne. Sandshrew's pokeball vanishes. "Hey, where did it go?"
"Trainers can only have six Pokemon with them." replied Lincoln. "Other Pokemon you catch is transported to a storage area." Ronnie Anne nods and looks at Lincoln's Dynamax Band and points at it. "What is that?"
"This is a Dynamax Band. It can be used to Dynamax Pokemon." replied Lincoln. The area was suddenly filled with a bright light. When the light faded, Lincoln and Ronnie Anne found themselves back in the Potbottom Desert. Lincoln sees two Star Pieces and picks them up.
"What are those?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"Star Pieces. I can sell these at a PokeMart for a lot of money." replied Lincoln.
"Nice. So where can I get one of those Dynamax Bands?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"You need a Wishing Star to make one. To get one of those, you need to have a true wish in your heart." said Lincoln. Ronnie Anne puts her hands over her chest and closes her eyes. Seconds later, a Wishing Piece falls from the sky and lands near her. She leans down and picks it up.
"So how do you make one of these into a Dynamax Band?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"Professor Magnolia can make one into a Dynamax Band; also, someone in a city called Motostoke back in the mainland can make them into Dynamax Bands." replied Lincoln. "When we get there, we'll look into making one for you."
"Thanks, Linc." said Ronnie Anne. Lincoln looks at his Rotom Phone to look at the time.
"Looks like it's almost time for dinner. Let's go back to the dojo." said Lincoln.
"Sure." said Ronnie Anne. They left Potbottom Desert. As they travelled through the Forest of Focus, Ronnie Anne sees a white, mushroom-like Pokemon with a pokeball-like pattern on top of it coming out of some grass. "Hey, Linc, what's that?" Lincoln looks at the Pokemon and points his Rotom Phone at it.
"Foongus, the Mushroom Pokemon. The spores released from this Pokémon's hands are highly poisonous, but when thoroughly dried, the spores can be used as stomach medicine." said the Rotom Phone.
"I want to catch this Pokemon." said Ronnie Anne.
"Then I would suggest using Klefki." said Lincoln. "Grass type Pokemon are strong against water type Pokemon like Wartortle, and rock type pokemon like Rockruff, and electric type attacks won't do much against them. Grass type moves aren't effective against steel type Pokemon and they're immune to poison type moves."
"Thanks, Linc." replied Ronnie Anne, pulling out Klefki's pokeball. "Let's go, Klefki." She throws Klefki's pokeball and releases her. "Klefki, Astonish!" Klefki flies at Foongus and makes a scary face, hurting it. Yellow powder suddenly came out of Foongus' body and onto Klefki. She suddenly becomes surrounded by yellow electricity and she shudders. "Hey, what's wrong with Klefki?"
"Looks like she's paralyzed." said Lincoln.
"How did that happen?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"No clue." replied Lincoln. Foongus hops towards Klefki and makes a scary face at her, hurting her. "Looks like Foongus knows Astonish also."
"Klefki, Metal Sound!" said Ronnie Anne. Klefki fights through her paralysis and releases silver soundwaves onto Foongus, weakening its defense. Foongus releases a green stream of energy from one of its arms and it wraps around Klefki. Foongus' wounds heal. "How is that Pokemon healed?"
"Must've been a stamina draining move it used." replied Lincoln. "Now Klefki lost some energy and healed Foongus."
"That won't stop us. Klefki, Astonish!" said Ronnie Anne. Klefki fights through her paralysis and makes another scary face at Foongus, doing more damage due to its defense being weakened. Astonish also made Foongus flinch.
"Looks like Foongus flinched, so now it can't attack for a while." said Lincoln.
"Awesome. Klefki, use Tackle!" said Ronnie Anne. Klefki once against, fights through paralysis and rams into Foongus, knocking it to the ground. Ronnie Anne takes out an empty pokeball, enlarges it and throws it at Foongus, hitting it. It gets sucked into the pokeball, and after it wiggled around a few times, it clicks, indicating a successful capture. Ronnie Anne picks up Foongus' pokeball. "Yeah! Foongus is mine."
"Great work, Ronnie Anne." said Lincoln. He uses his Rotom Phone to look up Foongus' information. "This says Foongus is part grass, part poison, it's a girl, she knows Absorb, Astonish, Growth, Stun Spore, and Mega Drain. She has the Effect Spore ability, which has a chance of poisoning, paralyzing, or making a Pokemon that attacks it physically fall asleep."
"So that's how my Klefki got paralyzed." said Ronnie Anne. Lincoln reaches into his backpack and pulls out a red, cherry-like berry.
"Here, Ronnie Anne, give this to Klefki." said Lincoln, giving Ronnie Anne the berry.
"What's this?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"A Cheri Berry. It cures a Pokemon that eats it of paralysis." said Lincoln.
"Thanks, Linc." said Ronnie Anne. She gives Klefki the Cheri Berry and she eats it, curing her of her paralysis. After that, they all head over to the dojo where everyone else was getting ready for dinner. As they ate, they told each other of the progress their Pokemon were making.
"Your new Toxtricity is so cool!" said Lincoln.
"He sure is." said Luna. "He's definitely gonna be a real powerhouse on my team."
"My new Excadrill is nothing to sneeze at." said Lana. Lincoln then noticed that Clyde looked like he had something on his mind.
"What's up, Clyde?" asked Lincoln.
"I think tomorrow I'm gonna take on the Tower of Water." said Clyde.
"Really?" replied Lincoln.
"Yeah. I think Kubfu is ready." said Clyde.
"If you're certain that he is, then go for it." said Lincoln.
"Yeah, dude." said Luna.
"We totes believe in you." said Leni. Everyone else voices their support for Clyde and Kubfu.
"Thanks, guys." said Clyde. Just then, Lincoln's Rotom Phone rings and he looks at the Caller ID, seeing that he was getting a call from his and his sisters' mom. He answers the video chat and he sees his parents, the sisters who were still in Royal Woods, and Clyde's dads on and around the Loud family's living room couch.
"Hey, kiddos." said Lynn Sr.
"Hi, Dad." said Lincoln. His sisters, Clyde, and Ronnie Anne, gather behind him.
"How are things going for you?" asked Rita.
"We're doing awesome." said Lana. She and the others told everyone in Royal Woods about their day.
"Glad to know you kids are okay." said Lynn Sr.
"Do your best tomorrow, Clyde." said Harold McBride.
"We have faith in you, sweetie." said Howard McBride.
"Thanks, dads." said Clyde. After a few minutes of talking, they end the call. After everyone finished eating, they cleaned the dishes, set up their tents, and went to sleep.
