The Tower of Water
The next morning, everyone had breakfast and got ready to go with Clyde to one of the towers for Kubfu's test.
"So which tower do you think you want to go for, Clyde?" asked Lincoln. Clyde thinks for a little bit.
"Maybe I'll go for the Tower of Water." said Clyde.
"Okay, Clyde; it's your decision." said Lincoln.
"Totes." said Leni. Just then, Hyde steps out of the dojo and sees everyone.
"Morning, Hyde." said Lincoln.
"Morning, everyone." said Hyde.
"What are you up to?" asked Lincoln.
"My parents keep insisting that I go outside and get some fresh air once in a while." replied Hyde. "I'm just fulfilling that obligation."
"Oh." said Lincoln. Hyde then notices Lincoln's Dynamax Band.
"Is that a Dynamax Band on your wrist?" asked Hyde.
"Yeah." said Lincoln as he holds his Dynamax Band out.
"I know a lot about those." said Hyde. "In fact, I know how to construct them." Lincoln then remembered that Ronnie Anne got a Wishing Star yesterday.
"Hey. Do you think you can make one for Ronnie Anne?" asked Lincoln. "She found a Wishing Star yesterday and having you make her one now will save us the time of going to the mainland and have one made there." Ronnie Anne then reaches into her hoodie pocket and pulls out her Wishing Star.
"Sure. I can make one." said Hyde. He then takes the Wishing Star from Ronnie Anne."
"Thanks." said Lincoln. "So how long do you think it will take you to make a Dynamax Band?"
"I imagine about half an hour." said Hyde.
"That's not so long. We can go to the Tower of Water for Clyde's test, then come back here; I imagine by then you'll be done." said Lincoln.
"That sounds accurate." said Hyde. "The Dynamax Band will be ready when you return."
"Thanks, Hyde." said Ronnie Anne. Hyde then enters the dojo to begin working. Lincoln looks at everyone.
"Ready to head out, everyone?" asked Lincoln.
"Yeah!" everyone cheers out.
"Let's get going then." said Lincoln. Everyone started the long walk to the Tower of Water. Clyde takes the time to have Kubfu do some warmup battles against wild Pokemon along the way. In the process, he learns Bulk Up. Twenty minutes later, they reach the Challenge Beach where they see the Tower of Water, standing tall. They approach it and see a dojo student standing in front of the door leading inside.
"Greetings, Clyde." said the student. "Are you here for your test?"
"Yes." said Clyde. "Me and Kubfu are ready."
"Very well." said the student. "Just so you know, only you and Kubfu can enter the tower. Your friends and other Pokemon have to wait outside." Clyde nods and hands all but his Kubfu's pokeballs to Lincoln.
"Would you hold onto these, Lincoln?" asked Clyde.
"Sure, buddy." said Lincoln. All of a sudden, the pokeballs pop open, and all Clyde's Pokemon appear before him. They suddenly started jumping up and down, cheering.
"Looks like your Pokemon are supporting you." said Luna.
"We, totes, are rooting for you too, Clyde." said Leni.
"You can do it, little dude." said Luna.
"You can do it, Clyde." said the twins.
"You got this." said Ronnie Anne.
"Pass the test, Clyde." said Lincoln. Clyde and Kubfu, with looks of determination on their faces, turn and walk towards the Tower of Water's door.
"For your test, you'll have to defeat a trainer on each floor. There are five floors, which means you'll have to defeat five trainers to pass your test." said the student.
"I understand." said Clyde. The student steps aside, allowing Clyde and Kubfu to enter the tower. Inside, Clyde saw the first trainer, a female dojo student, standing at one end of a battle arena. Clyde stands on the other end.
"I am the first trainer you will be facing." said the student. "Are you ready?"
"I wouldn't be here if I didn't believe I was." said Clyde.
"Very well." said the female student as she releases a yellow, ducklike Pokemon. Clyde pulls out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Psyduck, the Duck Pokemon. As Psyduck gets stressed out, its headache gets progressively worse. It uses intense psychic energy to overwhelm those around it." said the Rotom Phone. Clyde looks at Kubfu.
"You ready for this?" asked Clyde.
"Yes, I am, Clyde!" said Kubfu. Both look towards the Psyduck.
"Okay, Kubfu. Use Headbutt!" said Clyde. Kubfu runs towards the Psyduck and strikes its head with his own, damaging the Psyduck, and also making it flinch. "Now use Brick Break!" Kubfu raises his left arm up and delivers a powerful chop to the Psyduck, knocking it to the floor, unconscious. Stunned, the student returns her Psyduck to its pokeball. She then walks over to Clyde and gives him pokedollars, much to his confusion.
"Why are you giving me money?" asked Clyde.
"You mean you don't know?" replied the student. "After a Pokemon battle between two trainers, the losing trainer has to give the winning trainer half his or her money."
"Whoa. Lincoln didn't mention that." said Clyde. "I should tell the others about that."
"Anyway, you have beaten me." said the female student. "Proceed to the next floor."
"Let's go, Kubfu." said Clyde. The two continued to battle their way up the tower until they reached the top floor. To Clyde's surprise, he sees Master Mustard.
"Surprised to see me, Clyde?" asked Master Mustard.
"I shouldn't be, but I am." said Clyde.
"Yes. I am the final trainer." said Master Mustard. He then takes off his jacket and hat, revealing a yellow monk robe with a symbol of a blue sword in front of a red shield on it. His eyebrows were now sticking straight up. Steeling themselves, Clyde and Kubfu prepare themselves for battle.
"We're not backing down, Master Mustard!" said Clyde. "Kubfu and I have worked hard to get here!"
"Yeah!" said Kubfu. Master Mustard grins in response.
"That's what I want to here!" said Master Mustard. He then pulls a pokeball out of his robe and throws it, releasing...another Kubfu, surprising Clyde.
"You have a Kubfu also?!" asked Clyde.
"Kubfu's not exactly a one of a kind Pokemon." said Master Mustard. Getting over his surprise, Clyde and Kubfu get ready for battle.
"Okay, Kubfu! Use Aerial Ace!" said Clyde. Kubfu nods and jumps into the air, then comes down with a downward strike onto Kubfu's head, doing super effective damage.
"Clever, using a flying type move against a fighting type like my Kubfu." said Master Mustard. "And that Expert Belt your Kubfu's wearing increased the damage as well."
"We're going all out in this battle. We're not pulling any punches!" said Clyde.
"I want that from you two!" said Master Mustard. "Kubfu, use Brick Break!" Master Mustard's Kubfu runs at Clyde's Kubfu, and delivers a strong chop to his chest, knocking him back.
"Kubfu, use Bulk Up!" said Clyde. Clyde's Kubfu tightens his muscles, making him look bigger, and increasing his attack and defense strengths.
"Kubfu, use Rock Smash!" said Master Mustard. His Kubfu runs at Clyde's Kubfu and punches his chest, making him stumble backwards, and weakening his defense.
"Kubfu, use Headbutt!" said Clyde. His Kubfu charges at Master Mustard's Kubfu.
"Kubfu, use Detect!" said Master Mustard. His Kubfu's eyes shimmer for a second, before he avoids Clyde's Kubfu's Headbutt. "Now use Brick Break again!" Master Mustard's Kubfu raises his paw up to strike Clyde's Kubfu.
"Kubfu, now you use Detect!" said Clyde. His Kubfu's eyes shimmer like Master Mustard's Kubfu did, making him dodge Master Mustard's Kubfu's attack. "Now end this battle with another Aerial Ace!" Clyde's Kubfu jumps up into the air.
"Hurry, Kubfu! Use Detect again!" said Master Mustard. But this time, his Kubfu's eyes don't shimmer, and Clyde's Kubfu manages to strike it from above, knocking it to the floor, unconscious, surprising Master Mustard. Once he gets over what happened, he smiles and returns his Kubfu to its pokeball.
"We did it, Kubfu!" said Clyde. Kubfu jumps up and down, cheering happily.
"What a team!" says Master Mustard. "Impressive...Most impressive!" Clyde and Kubfu look at each other and smile, before they knock the backs of their fist against each others. Kubfu then starts doing a flurry of punches and a kick out of joy.
"I'm so happy for you, Kubfu!" said Clyde.
"Thanks, buddy!" said Kubfu.
"Fuhaha! I knew you were worthy of my trust, Clyde." said Master Mustard.
"Thanks, Master Mustard." replied Clyde.
"You've done well raising your Kubfu to this level of strength." said Master Mustard. "Leon was once my best student a long time ago. He, too, attempted this trial, but he never made it to either tower. He got lost along the way."
"I heard he has a bad sense of direction." said Clyde.
"Now the time has come for your Kubfu to evolve." said Master Mustard. "Go and show your Kubfu the Scroll of Water." He points to a large scroll on a wall behind him that had the image of a tidal wave with kanjis on it. Clyde and his Kubfu walk over to the scroll and look up at it. As they did, Clyde's Kubfu began to glow. Clyde watched as Kubfu began to grow. When he stopped glowing, Kubfu was now taller, had gray, black, and white fur, and a yellow muzzle. Clyde looked in awe at his newly evolved Kubfu as he takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at him.
"Urshifu Rapid Strike Style, the Wushu Pokemon, and the evolved form of Kubfu. This form of Urshifu is a strong believer in defeating foes by raining many blows down on them. Its strikes are nonstop, flowing like a river." said the Rotom Phone. Clyde was smiling while shaking.
"This...is...so...COOL!" exclaimed Clyde. "And according to my Rotom Phone, you're part fighting, part water, you learned a move called Surging Strikes, and you now have the Unseen Fist ability, which allows you to deal damage with physical attacks, even when the target is protected. This is the coolest thing ever!" Urshifu nods in response. Master Mustard walks over to Urshifu.
"You've certainly grown, haven't you, Urshifu?" asked Master Mustard. "Not too long ago, you would've run and hid behind me when you were scared." Urshifu looks away, rubbing the back of his head. "No matter how old I get, witnessing someone grow always bring joy to my heart." He looks at both Clyde and Urshifu. "Thank you two from the bottom of my heart." Minutes later, Clyde and Urshifu walk out of the Tower of Water to where Lincoln, his sisters, and Ronnie Anne were waiting. When the group sees Clyde's Urushifu, they were stunned.
"Whoa." said Lincoln. "Where did that Pokemon come from?"
"This is Urushifu. Kubfu's evolved form." said Clyde. Urushifu slams his fists together.
"That little Kubfu evolved into that?!" asked Luna.
"He looks tough!" said Ronnie Anne.
"And totes strong." said Leni.
"Congratulations, Clyde." said Lincoln.
"Thanks, guys." said Clyde. They then walk all the way back to the Master Dojo and head inside to have lunch. When they walk in, Hyde walks over to them.
"Hello, everyone." said Hyde.
"Hi, Hyde." said Lincoln. Hyde reaches into his shorts pocket and pulls out a Dynamax Band.
"Here is your friend's Dynamax Band." said Hyde. Ronnie Anne walks over and takes the Dynamax Band from him.
"Thanks, Hyde." said Ronnie Anne as she slips the Dynamax Band onto her wrist.
"You are welcome." said Hyde.
"I can't wait to try this out." said Ronnie Anne. So now, after a few days, Clyde has passed his test and now has an Urushifu. What will the group do next?
