Returning to Motostoke
Twenty minutes after the group left the Isle of Armor, they soon reach Professor Magnolia's house, who just came out after hearing the Corviknights setting down outside.
"What's all this?" asked Professor Magnolia. She got her answer when she sees the Loud siblings, Clyde, and Ronnie Anne, climb out of the Flying Taxi carriages.
"Wow, that was so cool." said Ronnie Anne.
"I know, right?" replied Lincoln.
"Hello, everyone." said Professor Magnolia.
"Hey, Professor Magnolia." said Lincoln as he and the others walk up to her.
"How have you two been?" asked Professor Magnolia.
"We've been doing awesome." said Lincoln.
"That's good to hear." said Professor Magnolia. She then notices Ronnie Anne standing next to Lincoln. "Who is this young lady?" Lincoln looks at Ronnie Anne and remembered that she and Professor Magnolia haven't met yet.
"This is Ronnie Anne." said Lincoln. "Another of my friends from Royal Woods."
"Well, it's nice to meet you." Professor Magnolia says to Ronnie Anne.
"It's nice to meet you, too." replied Ronnie Anne.
"Would you all like to join me for dinner?" asked Professor Magnolia. "I always love to have company over."
"Sure." said Lincoln.
"Would you like some help with the cooking?" asked Luna.
"That would be nice. Thank you so much." said Professor Magnolia.
"No problem." said Lincoln. They all enter Professor Magnolia's house and start making dinner. As they ate, Lincoln and the others tell Professor Magnolia about their adventures in the Isle of Armor.
"It seems you all have grown greatly as trainers." said Professor Magnolia.
"Yeah. I'll bet we do awesome in the Gym Challenge." said Lana.
"We should definitely get started on that soon." said Lucy.
"Anyway, Professor Magnolia; the main reason we stopped by was to see if you had an extra set of PokeTranslators that Ronnie Anne can have." said Lincoln.
"I see." said Professor Magnolia. "It just so happens that I have a few extra sets made."
"Would it be okay if Ronnie Anne had some?" asked Lincoln.
"Of course, dear." said Professor Magnolia. She exits the dining area and goes upstairs to her room. A minute later, she comes back with a set of PokeTranslators and gives them to Ronnie Anne.
"Thanks, ma'am." said Ronnie Anne. She then sticks them in her ears and turns them on. "I can't wait to try them out."
"You're quite welcome." said Professor Magnolia. After dinner, the Loud siblings cleaned the dishes for Professor Magnolia as thanks for the meal. They talked for an hour before they decided it was time to go.
"Thanks for dinner, Professor Magnolia." said Lincoln.
"Thank you kids for cleaning up." said Professor Magnolia.
"It was the least we could do." said Lucy. After they said their goodbyes, Lincoln and the others head outside and went to the Flying Taxis that have been waiting there. They all climb into the carriages and head towards Motostoke. Lincoln looks at his Rotom Phone and saw it was getting a little late, so he asked the Flying Taxi pilots to drop them off in the Wild Area, which they complied with. They soon reached the West Lake Axewell area and touched down there. After they thanked the pilots for the ride, the Flying Taxis left, leaving the group to themselves. Ronnie Anne looked around the area.
"What's this place?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"It's the Wild Area," said Lincoln. "Or more specifically, the part of it called West Lake Axewell."
"Yeah. There's all kinds of Pokemon here to catch." said Lana.
"Wow. Maybe I can look around and see if I can catch some Pokemon for myself sometime." said Ronnie Anne.
"Sure." said Lincoln. Everyone then sets up camp and went to sleep. The next morning, after everyone packed up their tents, they all enter Motostoke. They decided to head to the cafe to grab some pastries for breakfast. After that, they decided to show Ronnie Anne around the city since she's never been there before. They show her the Pokemon Center and told them about how they treat injured, or tired Pokemon, which Ronnie Anne made sure to take note of. They also decide to take the time to sell the stuff they found in the Pokemon Dens back on the Isle of Armor before they left. Ronnie Anne sold the two bones, which were called Rare Bones, for more than enough money to buy her own Rotom Phone. After Lincoln uploads the pokedex app from his Rotom Phone to hers, they go up to the upper level of the city and showed Ronnie Anne the Motostoke Stadium.
"So this is the place where you did your Gym Challenge Opening Ceremony?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"Yeah, it was so cool." said Lincoln. "Being out there in front of thousands of people cheering for us."
"I never been in that big of a crowd before." said Luna.
"I wish I got here sooner so I could sign up and have lots of people cheering me on." said Lola.
"That makes two of us." said Ronnie Anne with disappointment in her voice. Just then, a familiar voice calls out to them.
"Hello, everyone." said Chairman Rose.
"Hi, Mr. Rose." said Lincoln. Chairman Rose looks at Ronnie Anne.
"Were you interested in participating in the Gym Challenge, young lady?" asked Chairman Rose.
"Yeah. Am I too late to do so?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"Of course not." said Chairman Rose. "Being in the opening ceremony is not a requirement for being in the Gym Challenge, and I really want lots of trainers to compete."
"Can I sign up?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"Ooh. I want to sign up, too." said Lola.
"Of course." said Chairman Rose. "I'll endorse the both of you right away." He then hands Ronnie Anne and Lola each a letter of endorsement. (a/n: We didn't feel it was right for Ronnie Anne and Lola to be left out of the Gym Challenge, and we didn't really think that not being in the Gym Challenge Opening Ceremony should stop trainers from competing.)
"Thank you so much." said Ronnie Anne. Lola hugs Chairman Rose out of gratitude.
"You're both quite welcome." said Chairman Rose. He then hands them both two gold rings.
"What are those?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"Those are Challenge Bands." said Chairman Rose. "In case you're unaware of how the Gym Challenge works; after you defeat a gym leader, you get a gym badge which is a piece of the medallion you need to compete in the Galar League competition. You need a badge from each of the eight gyms to complete it."
"Oh, so that's what those things are." said Lincoln as he pulls his Challenge Band out of his backpack. "The rest of us got those when we signed up, but we don't remember being told what they were."
"Yeah, thanks for clearing that up for us, sir." said Luna.
"You're quite welcome." said Chairman Rose. Just then, the woman that was with Chairman Rose at the Gym Challenge Opening Ceremony, his assistant, Oleana, walks up to him.
"Sir, we have a very busy schedule to keep." said Oleana. Chairman Rose lets out a sigh of resignation.
"Well, being the chairman of a very large company always keeps me busy." said Chairman Rose. "Sorry to end our talk so soon, but I really must be going."
"We understand, sir." said Lincoln.
"And don't forget to pick up your Gym Challenger uniforms at the front desk of the Motostoke Stadium." said Chairman Rose.
"We will, sir." said Ronnie Anne. Chairman Rose and Oleana then headed off to attend to business matters elsewhere. Lola and Ronnie Anne then entered Motostoke Stadium to sign up for the Gym Challenge and get their Gym Challenger uniforms. Five minutes later, they came back out.
"You guys all signed up now?" asked Luna.
"Yeah." said Ronnie Anne.
"I'm so glad that Mr. Rose endorsed us." said Lola.
"Good thing he's such a generous guy." said Lana.
"Totes." said Leni. After that, they decided to explore Motostoke a bit more. As Luna checked out a warehouse area, she sees two kids, and a woman, who appeared to be looking for something.
"Hey. You all looking for something?" asked Luna. The three people turn towards Luna.
"It's my Minccino." said the boy. "I can't find it anywhere."
"You have a Minccino?" asked Luna.
"Yes, I'm really worried." said the boy.
"Don't worry, little dude; I'll help you find him." said Luna.
"Thank you so much." said the boy. "If it helps, my Minccino usually likes to hide places where there's lots of water. And also, it makes this weird cry that sounds like 'Mworp!', so if you hear that cry, try whistling."
"You got it, little dude." said Luna. As Luna began looking around for the missing Mincinno, Lana and Lola were exploring near where Luna was and sees some sort of scarf, floating in the wind.
"What's that?" asked Lana. The scarf floats over to Lola and she catches it. She rubs it against her cheek and was amazed at how soft it was.
"Ooh. I think this is silk." said Lola. A thought enters her head and she lets her Cinccino out of her pokeball.
"What are you doing, Lola?" asked Lana.
"Well, I think this would look so cute on Cinccino, and the Rotom Phone did refer to her as the 'Scarf Pokemon'." said Lola.
"Hey, yeah." said Lana. Lola then ties the scarf around Cinccino's neck, making Cinccino smile. Meanwhile, back with Luna, she's been looking all over the city for the boy's missing Minccino. She looked around places that were near the river that went through Motostoke, but still nothing.
"Man, where can that Minccino be?" asked Luna. As she walks by the Motostoke Stadium, she noticed the two fountains in front of it and decides to sit near one to rest her legs before continuing her search. As she does, she hears something.
"Hello?" said a voice. Luna looks around and sees a bushy, gray tail that looked familiar, sticking out from behind the fountain's waterspout.
"That kind of looks like Lola's Cinccino's tail back when she was a Minccino." said Luna. A thought enters her head, and she decides to whistle. When she does, a Minccino comes out from behind the waterspout.
"Hi." said the Minccino.
"Hey, little dude." said Luna. "Are you the Minccino that a little boy is looking for?"
"You mean my trainer?" replied the Minccino.
"Yeah. He's really worried about you." said Luna.
"Oh." said the Minccino. "I was just playing hide-and-seek."
"You should go back to him, little guy." said Luna.
"Yes, of course." said the Minccino as it runs off. Luna follows it back to where she met the boy from before. She watches as the Minccino runs up to the boy who just turned and noticed it.
"Minccino!" said the boy as he hugs it. He then sees Luna. "Did you find Minccino?"
"Yeah." said Luna. "It was at one of the fountains near Motostoke Stadium."
"Thank you so much." said the boy. He reaches into his backpack and pulls out a blue spray bottle and hands it to Luna.
"What's this?" asked Luna.
"That's a Throat Spray." said the boy. "If a Pokemon that's holding it uses a sound-based move, its special attack power increases."
"Rad." said Luna. She releases her Loudred from his pokeball and gives the Throat Spray to him. After that, she returns him to his pokeball.
"Thanks again." said the boy as he and his Minccino run off somewhere. Soon, everyone meets at a Pokemon Center near the west exit of Motostoke.
"So you guys ready to finally start the Gym Challenge?" asked Lincoln.
"Totes." said Leni.
"I'm ready to rock, bro." said Luna.
"So am I, Lincoln." said Lucy from behind Lincoln, startling him.
"We're ready, too." said the twins.
"I'm ready, Lincoln." said Ronnie Anne.
"So am I, buddy." said Clyde. Just then, they hear someone calling out to them. They look to see Hop running over to them.
"Lincoln" said Hop as he struggles to catch his breath. "There you guys are."
"Hey, Hop." said Lincoln.
"Who's this?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"Oh, that's right, you two haven't met." said Lincoln. "This is Hop, a friend I made while I was here."
"Who's she?" asked Hop.
"This is Ronnie Anne." said Lincoln.
"Is she your girlfriend?" asked Hop, making Lincoln and Ronnie Anne sweat.
"No, I'm not/No, she's not!" said Ronnie Anne and Lincoln at the same time, making the others chuckle.
"Oh." said Hop. "Where have you guys been? I haven't seen you all for days!"
"We've been in the Isle of Armor." said Lincoln.
"My brother told me about that place." said Hop. "What's it like?" Lincoln and the others told Hop about everything they've been through while in the Isle of Armor. Needless to say, Hop was speechless.
"So what have you been up to?" asked Lincoln.
"Aside from looking for you all, I've been doing some training." said Hop.
"Cool." said Lincoln. "How much stronger have you gotten?"
"How about a battle and you can see for yourself." said Hop.
"You got it." said Lincoln. Everyone else walks to the side to watch. Lincoln and Hop stand across from one another.
"Come on out, Wooloo!" said Hop as he releases his Wooloo from its pokeball.
"Aww, it's so fluffy!" said Lola. Lincoln throws a pokeball, releasing his Alolan Sandshrew.
"So that's the Alolan Sandshrew you told me about?" asked Hop.
"Yep." said Lincoln.
"Well it won't beat us." said Hop. "Wooloo, use Tackle!" Wooloo runs at Sandshrew and rams into him; but to Hop's shock, he barely budged, or look like he was even affected that much.
"Just so you know, an Alolan Sandshrew is part steel type." said Lincoln. "Sandshrew, use Fury Swipes!" Sandshrew quickly releases a barrage of swipes which hit Wooloo, doing enough damage to knock it out, surprising Hop.
"That was quick." said Hop with shock. He then returns Wooloo to its pokeball, and pulls out a different one. He then throws it, releasing his Rookidee. "Use Leer!" Rookidee stares harshly at Sandshrew, making him a little nervous, and lowering his defense.
"Sandshrew, use Powder Snow!" said Lincoln. Sandshrew opens his mouth and releases a stream of snow which hits Rookidee, doing super effective damage, as well as knocking it out. Hop was shocked at how quickly his Rookidee lost.
"That Alolan Sandshrew is tough." said Hop as he returns Rookidee to its pokeball.
"He and all our other Pokemon have been through some intense training while we were on the Isle of Armor." said Lincoln.
"Yeah, dude." said Luna. "All our Pokemon are strong."
"Totes." said Leni.
"Well even so, I'm not backing down!" said Hop as he throws his last pokeball, releasing his Grookey.
"Wow, a monkey Pokemon." said Lana.
"Grookey, use Branch Poke!" said Hop. Grookey jumps at Lincoln's Sandshrew and jabs a branch into his chest. Unfortunately for it, since an Alolan Sandshrew is part steel, Branch Poke didn't do a whole lot of damage, even with the defense decrease from Leer. Sandshrew just brushed it off like it was nothing, making Hop nervous.
"Sandshrew, use Fury Cutter!" said Lincoln. Sandshrew's claws glowed red as he jumps at Grookey. He hits it once, which turned out was all he needed, as Grookey was knocked out. Hop drops to his knees out of disbelief.
"Beaten by just one Pokemon." said Hop.
"Linky won!" said Leni. Hop then returns his Grookey to its pokeball, then walks over to Lincoln.
"That Sandshrew of yours is strong." said Hop.
"He sure is." said Lincoln. "Maybe you should try visiting the Isle of Armor sometime and do some training there. I heard your brother trained there a while back as well."
"I'll do it later." said Hop. "Right now, I have a Gym Challenge to complete."
"You should get your Pokemon to that Pokemon Center over there and get them taken care of first." suggested Lincoln.
"Good idea." said Hop as he heads for the Pokemon Center. Lincoln's sisters and friends walk over to him.
"That was a good battle." said Clyde.
"You dominated Hop." said Ronnie Anne. Lincoln reaches into his backpack and pulls out an Oran Berry and gives it to his Alolan Sandshrew, which was all he really needed due to the fact he didn't take a lot of damage during his battles with Hop.
"So you all ready to go?" asked Lincoln.
"Yeah!" everyone else cheered.
"Then let's head out." said Lincoln. "First stop, Turffield!" Everyone then exits Motostoke to finally start their Gym Challenge.
