Route 4 and Eevees
After the gang exited Galar Mine, they looked down the road and saw a town up ahead that had a stadium in it.
"That must be Turffield." said Lincoln as he pointed at the town.
"Well, what are we waiting for, an invitation? Let's go." said Ronnie Anne.
"Let's look around this area first and see what kind of Pokemon there are." said Lincoln.
"Yeah. Maybe there'll be some more cute ones." said Lola.
"I guess it couldn't hurt." said Ronnie Anne. They all go into a nearby wheat field and start looking around. As they approach one, a man steps out in front of them.
"Pardon me." said the man. "But would any of you be interested in a Pokemon Battle?"
"Sure." said Lana as she steps forward. "My Pokemon could use a warm-up." Everyone else stands back to give the two some room. The man throws a pokeball, releasing a Pokemon that kind of looked like a Meowth, but it was light brown, and the charm on its forehead was black.
"What's that Pokemon?" asked Luna. "It looks like Lincoln's Meowth; but it looks kind of different. Lincoln pulls out his Rotom Phone and points it at the strange-looking Meowth.
"Meowth, the Cat Scratch Pokemon. These daring Pokémon have coins on their foreheads. Darker coins are harder, and harder coins garner more respect among Meowth." said the Rotom Phone.
"Why does this Meowth look different than Linky's?" asked Leni.
"Must be because my Meowth is from that Alola place that Diglett trainer back on the Isle of Armor told us about. This Meowth must be a Galarian one." said Lincoln.
"Well either way, it's going down!" said Lana as she throws her pokeball, releasing her Salandit.
"Meowth, use Fake Out!" said the man. His Meowth runs forward and claps its paws together, close to Salandit's face, startling her, and making her fall backwards, hurting herself.
"Oh yeah?!" replied Lana. "Salandit, use Smog!" Salandit releases a cloud of poison at Meowth, hitting it; but to Lana's surprise, it didn't seem to have any effect. "Hey! Why didn't Smog do anything?"
"Galarian Meowths are steel type Pokemon." said the man. "That means poison type moves have no effect on it."
"Uh oh." said Lana.
"Meowth, use Scratch!" said the man. The Meowth runs at Salandit and scratches her across the torso.
"Lana!" said Lincoln. "Steel type Pokemon may be immune to poison, but they're vulnerable to fire!"
"Thanks, Lincoln!" said Lana. "Salandit, use Incinerate!" Salandit releases a fireball from her mouth, hitting the Galarian Meowth, doing super effective damage, and knocking it out.
"No!" said the man.
"Good job, Lana." said Clyde. The man then returns his Meowth to its pokeball, and then pulls out another one. He throws it, releasing a Pokemon that looks like a brown acorn with a gray cap, and cream-colored feet.
"That's a Seedot." said Lincoln. Clyde, not having seen one before, takes out his Rotom Phone, and points it at it.
"Seedot, the Acorn Pokemon. It attaches itself to a tree branch using the top of its head. Strong winds can sometimes make it fall." said the Rotom Phone.
"Seedots are grass type Pokemon. Salandit has a double advantage, thanks to both fire type and poison type moves both being super effective against them." said Lincoln.
"Cool!" said Lana. "Salandit, use Poison Fang!" Salandit runs at the Seedot with her fangs glowing purple, and bites down on it, doing super effective damage, and knocking it out.
"Man, Lana's on fire!" said Ronnie Anne.
"Lana's on fire?!" replied Leni. "Quick! Put it out!"
"No, Leni. It's a figure of speech." said Lincoln. Back at the man, he returns his Seedot to its pokeball. He then pulls his last one out of his pocket and throws it, releasing a Butterfree.
"He has a Butterfree like Linky does." said Lola. Ronnie Anne, never having seen one before, pulls out her Rotom Phone, and points it at the Butterfree.
"Butterfree, the Butterfly Pokemon, and the fully evolved form of Caterpie. It collects honey every day. It rubs honey onto the hairs on its legs to carry it back to its nest." said the Rotom Phone.
"Lana's got this." said Lincoln. "Butterfrees are part bug type, so fire's very effective against them."
"Salandit, one more Incinerate!" said Lana. Salandit releases another Incinerate attack from her mouth and it hits the Butterfree, doing super effective damage, and knocking it out. The man drops to his knees in disbelief.
"Beaten with just one Pokemon." said the man. He then gets up and gives Lana pokedollars. After the man heads towards Turffield to get his Pokemon treated, the others explore the wheat field. As they look, they see a Pokemon that looks like a mass of cream with eyes and a mouth floating nearby.
"What's that Pokemon?" asked Lola. She then takes out her Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Milcery, the Cream Pokemon. They say that any patisserie visited by Milcery is guaranteed success and good fortune." said the Rotom Phone.
"Hey. Didn't that guy at that cafe back in Motostoke say that I can use the Strawberry Sweet that I won to make this Pokemon evolve?" asked Lincoln.
"I think so." said Clyde.
"Well, I'm gonna try and catch this one." said Lincoln. He pulls out his Alolan Sandshrew's pokeball from his pocket and releases him from it. "Okay, Sandshrew! Use Metal Claw!" Alolan Sandshrew's claws turned metallic gray and he slashes the Milcery, doing super effective damage. The Milcery reacts by floating at Alolan Sandshrew and kissing him on his forehead.
"Awww! That's so cute!" said Leni. Energy started seeping out of Alolan Sandshrew and into Milcery, seemingly healing it a little bit.
"Sandshrew! Use Powder Snow!" said Lincoln. Alolan Sandshrew opens his mouth and releases a spray of snow which coats the Milcery completely. Lincoln quickly takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at the Milcery, hitting it, and sucking it in. The pokeball wiggles a few times before it clicks, indicating a successful capture.
"You did it, Lincoln." said Clyde. The pokeball suddenly vanishes and is sent to storage. Lincoln uses his Rotom Phone and looks up his new Milcery's information.
"This says that Milcery is a girl; in fact, there are only female Milceries. She knows Tackle, Aromatic Mist, Sweet Kiss, Sweet Scent, and Draining Kiss. She has the Sweet Veil ability which prevents her from falling asleep." said Lincoln. He then pulls out his Rotom Phone and uses it to swap his Corvisquire for Milcery.
"What are you doing, Lincoln?" asked Luna. Lincoln then releases Milcery from her pokeball and she looks around until she sees him.
"Sorry about being hard on you." said Lincoln. "Can you forgive me?" Milcery smiles and floats over to Lincoln and nuzzles his chest, making him smile.
"She's so sweet." said Leni. Lincoln takes the Strawberry Sweet he got a while back out of his backpack and holds it up to Milcery.
"Would you like to use this to evolve?" asked Lincoln. Milcery nods, and Lincoln hands it to her. After a while, nothing happens.
"What's wrong?" asked Lola. "Isn't that Strawberry Sweet supposed to make her evolve?"
"I don't know." said Lincoln. "Maybe there's something else we need to do." Clyde thinks for a second.
"Maybe you need to stir it around a bit." suggested Clyde. "When I bake something using cream, I usually stir stuff into it."
"It's worth a try." said Lincoln. Milcery, hearing what Clyde said, starts to spin around, causing the Strawberry Sweet in her body to glow.
"Hey! It looks like it's working." said Luna. They all watch as Milcery started to glow. She started to change right before their eyes. When she was done, her body looked like she was made of pink, whipped cream, with two loop-like bangs of it hanging down from the side of her head that had two strawberries sticking out of them, she also had arms as well. Lincoln points his Rotom Phone at his newly evolved Milcery.
"Alcremie, the Cream Pokemon, and the evolved form of Milcery. When Alcremie is content, the cream it secretes from its hands becomes sweeter and richer." said the Rotom Phone.
"This says that Alcremie learned Decorate, which makes her decorate her allies to make them stronger." said Lincoln.
"She's so cute!" said Leni. Out of curiosity, Lana walks over to Alcremie and uses her finger to wipe off a small bit of the substance that Alcremie's body's made of.
"Lana? What are you doing?" asked Lola. Lana sniffs the substance, then licks it off her finger, shocking Lola. "Ewww! Lana, you're disgusting, and that's nothing out of the ordinary!" Lana's lips smack for a while before her eyes widen with delight.
"Lola! Alcremie's body is made of strawberry buttercream frosting!" said Lana.
"What?!" said Lola, who runs over to Alcremie, and does what Lana just did a few seconds ago. Upon tasting Alcremie's frosting, her eyes widen with delight. The twins suddenly jump at Alcremie and start licking her body. Worried that they were going to lick Alcremie out of existence, Lincoln quickly returns Alcremie to her pokeball, upsetting the twins.
"Hey! We weren't done yet!" said the twins in unison.
"I don't want you licking her until she disappeared." said Lincoln.
"Well, keep her around, Lincoln." said Lola. Clyde suddenly hears rustling in the wheat field. He looks to see a brown, furry, quadrupedal Pokemon walking of the wheat.
"What's that?" asked Clyde. He takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Eevee, the Evolution Pokemon. Thanks to its unstable genetic makeup, this special Pokémon conceals many different possible evolutions." said the Rotom Phone.
"Hey, I've learned about Eevees back in Wedgehurst." said Lincoln. "If you touch one with a Fire Stone, it'll evolve into a Flareon, with a Water Stone, a Vaporeon, a Thunder Stone, a Jolteon, an Ice Stone, a Glaceon, a Leaf Stone, a Leafeon, if it levels up while being good friends with one in the daytime, either an Espeon or a Sylveon, or during the nighttime, an Umbreon."
"Whoa, cool." said Clyde. He looks at the Eevee while pulling a pokeball out of his pocket. "Liepard, go!" He throws Liepard's pokeball and releases her. The Eevee runs at Liepard with incredible speed and rams her, knocking her back. "I assume that was Quick Attack. Okay, Liepard, Fury Swipes!" Liepard leaps at Eevee and repeatedly scratches it with her claws, knocking it to the ground. Eevee runs at Liepard and rams her. "Liepard, Assurance!" Liepard becomes surrounded by a thin layer of black energy and she rams Eevee, knocking it to the ground. Clyde takes an empty pokeball out of his pocket and throws it at Eevee. It hits Eevee and sucks it into the pokeball. After it wiggled around a few times, it clicks, indicating a successful capture. "Oh yeah! I caught an Eevee!"
"Good job, Clyde." said Lincoln. Eevee's pokeball vanishes due to Clyde already having six Pokemon on his team. Clyde uses his Rotom Phone to transfer his Flapple into storage and putting his Eevee in her place. He then uses his Rotom Phone to learn more about his new Eevee.
"Okay. This says my Eevee is a normal type, it's a girl, she knows Covet, Helping Hand, Tackle, Growl, Tail Whip, Sand Attack, and Quick Attack. She has the Adaptability ability, which increases the attack strength of moves that are the same type she is, so her normal type attacks will be much stronger."
"That is, like, so cool." said Leni. She hears something coming out of the wheat. She looks to see another Eevee walking out. "I'm catching this one." She pulls a pokeball out of her pocket. "Dedenne, like, let's go!" She throws Dedenne's pokeball and releases her. Dedenne and Eevee face each other. Eevee charges at Dedenne with incredible speed and rams her, knocking her back. "Dedenne, like, use Charge!" Dedenne becomes surrounded by electricity and her special defense increases. Eevee turns around and it uses its hind legs to kick sand into Dedenne's face. "Dedenne, use Thunder Shock!" Dedenne releases yellow electricity from her body, and it hits Eevee, knocking it to the ground. It gets up and it shudders and becomes surrounded by electricity.
"Looks like Eevee's paralyzed." said Lincoln. Eevee walks towards Dedenne but it freezes.
"Dedenne, use Tackle!" said Leni. Dedenne runs at Eevee and rams into it, knocking it to the ground. Leni takes an empty Heal Ball out of her backpack and throws it at Eevee, hitting it and sucking it in. After it wiggled around a few times, it clicks, indicating Eevee's capture. "Yay! I, like, caught an Eevee!"
"Good work, Leni." said Lucy from beside Leni, scaring her. Leni's Eevee's Heal Ball vanishes due to her already having six Pokemon on her team. She uses her Rotom Phone to put her Fomantis into storage and putting Eevee in her place. She uses her Rotom Phone to learn more about her new Eevee.
"My Eevee is, like, exactly like Clyde's. A girl, same moves, and ability." said Leni. Another Eevee was walking out of the wheat.
"Another Eevee." said Lucy from beside Eevee, scaring it. "I'll get this one." She pulls a pokeball out of her pocket. "Woobat, come out." She tosses Woobat's pokeball and releases her. "Woobat, Gust." Woobat flaps her wings and releases a strong wind from them and they hit Eevee, knocking it back. Eevee leaps at Woobat and hits her with one of its paws, knocking her back. "Woobat, Confusion." Woobat becomes surrounded by a purple light and Eevee gets lifted into the air and gets slammed back down into the ground. Eevee runs at Woobat and rams her. "Woobat, Air Cutter." Woobat flaps her wings and releases light blue blades of light and they hit Eevee, knocking it to the ground. Lucy takes an empty pokeball out of her pocket and throws it at Eevee, hitting it and sucking it in. It wiggled around for a few seconds before it clicks, indicating Eevee's capture. "I have captured Eevee." Eevee's pokeball vanishes and is transported to storage. Lucy uses her Rotom Phone to swap her Phantump for Eevee. She uses her Rotom Phone to learn more about her new Eevee. "My Eevee is exactly like Clyde and Leni's Eevees."
"Look, another one!" said Lola, pointing at an Eevee that just walked out of the wheat. "This one's mine!" She pulls a Heal Ball out of her backpack. "Staryu, you're up!" She tosses Staryu's Heal Ball and releases it. "Staryu, Rapid Spin!" Staryu spins around and rams into Eevee, knocking it back. Eevee runs at Staryu and rams it, knocking it to the ground, but it gets back up. "Show that Eevee who's boss with Water Gun!" Staryu releases a spiral of water from the top tip of its body and it hits Eevee, knocking it to the ground. Lola takes an empty Heal Ball out of her backpack and throws it at Eevee, hitting it. It gets sucked into the Heal Ball and after it wiggled around a few times, it clicks, indicating a successful capture. "Oh yeah, baby! Eevee is mine!" Eevee's Heal Ball vanishes and is transported to storage. Lola uses her Rotom Phone to transport Chansey to storage and putting Eevee in her place. Lola looks at her Rotom Phone and learns her Eevee is like the others.
Lana looks around and soon comes across another Eevee. She pulls out her Trubbish's pokeball and releases him from it.
"Okay, Trubbish! Use Sludge!" said Lana. Trubbish releases a black blob of sludge that hits the Eevee. It retaliates by running at Trubbish, and rams into him. "Oh yeah?! Trubbish, use Clear Smog!" Trubbish coughs out a clear cloud of smog, hitting the Eevee, knocking it over. Lana quickly takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at the Eevee, hitting it, and sucking it in. The pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking, indicating a successful capture. "Yeah! Eevee is mine." Lana looks at her Rotom Phone and sees that her Eevee was a boy, and that it had the same moves and ability like everyone else's. She uses her Rotom Phone to swap her Palpitoad for her new Eevee.
Luna looks around some more and soon comes across another Eevee. She throws her Porygon's pokeball, and releases it.
"Okay, Porygon! Use Tackle!" said Luna. Porygon moves at the Eevee and rams into it, knocking it back. The Eevee responds by doing the same thing to Porygon. "Porygon, use Psybeam!" Porygon releases a beam of psychic energy from its forehead, hitting the Eevee, making it fall over. Luna quickly grabs an empty pokeball and throws it at the Eevee, hitting it, and sucking it in. The pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking, indicating a successful capture. "Rockin! Eevee is mine!" Her new Eevee's pokeball disappears to storage. She looks at her new Eevee's information on her Rotom Phone, seeing that it was a girl and had the same moves and ability as the others. She also uses her Rotom Phone to trade her Porygon for her new Eevee.
Ronnie Anne looks around, and also comes across another Eevee. She throws her Mienfoo's pokeball and releases her from it. "Okay, Mienfoo! Use Fury Swipes!" Mienfoo runs at the Eevee and swipes at it multiple times, doing some damage, and knocking it back. The Eevee responds by ramming into Mienfoo. "Mienfoo, use Reversal!" Orange energy surges around Mienfoo and she punches the Eevee, doing super effective damage, and knocking it down. Ronnie Anne quickly grabs an empty pokeball from her backpack and she throws it at the Eevee, hitting it, and sucking it in. The pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking, indicating a successful capture. "Oh yeah! I caught an Eevee!" Her new Eevee's pokeball then disappears to storage, making her take out her Rotom Phone and use it to swap her Klefki for her Eevee. She also sees that her Eevee is like most everyone else's.
Lincoln searches a corner of the field they were all in and sees an Eevee, but its coloring was different. Instead of being brown with a cream-colored ring of fur around its neck; it was cream colored with a white ring of fur around its neck.
"This must be a shiny Eevee." said Lincoln. "I'm definitely gonna try and catch it." He takes out his Lucario's pokeball and releases him from it. "Okay, Lucario! Use Aura Sphere!" Lucario forms an orb of blue energy in his hand, and he launches it at Eevee, hitting it, and doing super effective damage. Eevee then runs at Lucario and rams him, not really doing any damage, due to Lucario being part steel type. "Lucario, use Counter!" Lucario's body becomes coated in an orange aura, and he punches the Eevee, sending it flying to the ground. Lincoln quickly takes out an empty pokeball and throws it at the Eevee, hitting it, and sucking it in. The pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking, indicating a successful capture. "Yes! I caught a shiny Eevee!" His new Eevee's pokeball then disappears to storage, making him take out his Rotom Phone and use it to swap his Lycanroc for his Eevee. He also sees that his Eevee is a boy and has the same moves and ability like the others.
Everyone sees that it was starting to get a little dark, so they decided to call it a day, and set camp for the night. While they ate dinner, Lincoln's Rotom Phone rings. He looks and sees his mom's name on the Caller ID. He turns on video chat and sees his parents, the sisters who didn't come to Galar, and Clyde's dads on and around the Loud family's couch.
"Hi, kiddos." said Lynn Sr. "How are things in Galar?" Lincoln, his sisters that were with him, Clyde, and Ronnie Anne told them about what happened that day; even letting out the Pokemon they recently acquired. When Alcremie was let out, the twins jumped on her and start licking, making everyone sweatdrop.
"Kids! Stop licking that poor Pokemon!" said Rita.
"You'll spoil your appetites." said Lynn Sr.
"But she's so delicious!" said Lola. Lincoln returns Alcremie to her pokeball, much to the twins' disappointments.
"So anyway, we'll be taking on the Turffield gym tomorrow." said Lincoln.
"I wonder if it'll be televised." wondered Lori.
"We can watch Galar TV networks and keep our eyes open for you kids." said Lynn Sr.
"Okay, Dad." said Lincoln. They talk for a few more minutes before ending the call.
"So tomorrow we take on our first gym." said Ronnie Anne.
"Do you think we're ready?" asked Lana.
"I know we are." said Lincoln. "We did a lot of training on the Isle of Armor, so I'm sure we can handle the gym."
"You're right, Lincoln." said Lucy. Once they were done eating, they cleaned their dishes, got into their tents, and went right to sleep.
