Turffield
The next morning, Lincoln's group wakes up and start to have breakfast. After they finish eating, clean their dishes, and put their camping stuff away; they head towards Turffield. As they travel down the road, they hear someone shouting out.
"Wooloo! Where do you think you're going?!" a male voice yells out. Lincoln looks to see a Wooloo rolling right at him. It was too fast for Lincoln to avoid in time and it bumps into Lincoln, knocking him down.
"Linky! Are you okay?!" asked Leni as she and the others rush to Lincoln's side. Lincoln shakes himself out of his dazed state.
"I'm okay. That Wooloo's wool was thick enough to absorb a lot of the impact, and I've been tackled by Lynn lots of times before and she does it harder than that Wooloo." said Lincoln. Everyone looked relieved that Lincoln was okay. They all look back at the Wooloo and see a familiar person coming up behind it.
"My...Are you OK?! You took that Tackle head on.." the man started to say. Lola runs over to him.
"You better apologize to my brother or you'll be sorry!" yelled Lola.
"Yes, of course." said the man. "I'm sorry about my Wooloo. He managed to get away from me and I couldn't stop him in time."
"No worries." said Lincoln. He then recognizes the man. "Aren't you one of the Gym Leaders?"
"That's right." said the man. "The name's Milo, and I'm rather partial to grass type Pokemon."
"I recognize you from the Gym Challenge Opening Ceremony." said Lincoln.
"And I've heard of you." said Milo. "You're one of the Gym Challengers that was endorsed by the Champion."
"That's right." said Lincoln. "I'm Lincoln Loud."
"I'm his best friend, Clyde McBride." said Clyde.
"I'm another of his friends, Ronnie Anne." said Ronnie Anne.
"I'm his sister, Leni." said Leni.
"I'm another of his sisters, Luna." said Luna.
"I'm his sister, Lucy." said Lucy.
"I'm his sister, Lana." said Lana.
"And last, but certainly not least; I'm his cutest sister, Lola." said Lola. Milo looked stunned.
"You have a lot of sisters." said Milo.
"These are only half of my sisters." said Lincoln, surprising Milo.
"You have ten sisters?!" replied Milo.
"Yeah, I know it's hard to believe." said Lincoln. After Milo gets over his surprise, he continues to talk to Lincoln.
"I've been waiting to see how I do against someone endorsed by the Champion." said Milo. "Just head straight ahead and you'll soon reach the Turffield Stadium where your Gym Challenge will be."
"Okay." said Lincoln.
"And you'll have to deal with the rest of us, too." said Lana.
"So all of you are Gym Challengers?" asked Milo.
"Yep." said Lana.
"Well, it looks like I'll be plenty busy today." said Milo. He then turns and heads towards Turffield. Lincoln looks back at the others.
"Let's get going, everyone." said Lincoln. Everyone cheers in response. They all head further up the road until they finally reach Turffield. When they enter the city, they see Hop standing next to a Pokemon Center who notices them.
"Hey, everybody!" said Hop as he runs over to them.
"Hey, Hop!" said Lincoln. Hop looks towards a large stadium at the center of the city.
"See that over there?" asked Hop. "That's Turffield Stadium. It's full of challengers right now, so it'll be a while before we get our turn."
"That's okay, as long as we get to compete." said Lincoln.
"Anyway, Sonia was looking for you." said Hop.
"Really? What for?" asked Lincoln.
"I didn't really understand what she said, but she's waiting for you on some hill here in Turffield. Just look on your map to find it." said Hop. Just then, a Yamper comes running over to them and jumps into Lincoln's arms.
"Boy, that Yamper seems friendly." said Lana. Lincoln looks closely at the Yamper as it started licking his face, and recognizes it.
"Hey. I think this is Sonia's Yamper." said Lincoln.
"That's great." said Hop. "I'm certain Yamper can lead you right to Sonia."
"Good idea." said Lincoln.
"While you're doing that, I'm gonna head for the stadium." said Hop.
"We'll be right there once we're done meeting with Sonia." said Lincoln.
"Okay. Don't be too long." said Hop as he runs towards the stadium. Lincoln looks at everyone else.
"Shall we see what Sonia wants?" asked Lincoln.
"Sure. It could pass the time until the number of Gym Challengers at the stadium thins out." said Clyde. Yamper jumps out of Lincoln's arms and leads them up a hill. They soon reach the top and see Sonia with Yamper.
"Hey, Sonia." said Lincoln. Sonia turns to see Lincoln's group.
"Hi, everyone." said Sonia. She then turns to look at Yamper. "Thanks for bringing them here." Yamper barks in response. She then notices Ronnie Anne.
"Who's she?" asked Sonia. Lincoln looks at Ronnie Anne.
"That's Ronnie Anne. She's another friend of mine from back home who came here to join my adventure." said Lincoln.
"Is she your girlfriend?" asked Sonia.
"NO!" said Lincoln and Ronnie Anne as they blushed, making everyone else chuckle.
"So anyway, what did you need to talk to us about?" asked Lincoln, hoping to change the subject.
"I had you come 'cause I wanted to hear what you thought." said Sonia. She turns towards another hill that had some sort of drawing in it of what appeared some sort of giant being that had smoke with lightning coming out from its mouth; along with smaller beings under it.
"What's that?" asked Lana.
"It's a geoglyph." said Sonia. "A picture of an event that happened a long time ago."
"It kind of looks like a giant." said Lincoln. Luna then notices something familiar about the giant's tail.
"It's tail kind of reminds me of my Toxtricity when he's Gigantamaxed." said Luna.
"Yeah, it kind of does." said Lana.
"Maybe that's a picture of a Dynamaxed Pokemon?" guessed Lincoln.
"That's not a bad guess." said Sonia. "A long time ago...a great black storm covered the Galar Region. Giant Pokemon ran rampant..."
"So Dynamaxed Pokemon were everywhere?" asked Clyde. "How did they do that outside of a Pokemon Den?"
"That's a good question, Clyde." said Sonia. "Anyway; what was that black storm they called the 'Darkest Day'? What connection does it have to Dynamax?"
"Sounds like you have a lot to figure out, Sonia." said Lincoln.
"Yes I do." said Sonia. She then turns to look at everyone. "Thanks for your thoughts, everyone."
"You're welcome." said Lincoln.
"If you plan on taking on Milo, remember that he uses grass types, so using fire, flying, bug, poison, or ice type Pokemon will give you the best chance of pulling off a win." said Sonia.
"Thanks, Sonia." said Clyde.
"Now head to Turffield Stadium and win your first gym badges!" said Sonia. Everyone cheers in response. Not knowing if the number of Gym Challengers at the stadium went down, the group decides to explore Turffield. As they head back down the hill, Lincoln sees something on the ground. He walks over and sees what looked like a green stone that had a leaf design etched into it.
"What's this?" asked Lincoln. Sonia, who was just coming down the hill, walks over to Lincoln and sees the stone.
"That's a Leaf Stone." said Sonia.
"This is a Leaf Stone?" asked Lincoln.
"Yes. It can be used to evolve certain Pokemon." said Sonia. Remembering his Eevee, he takes his pokeball out of his pocket and releases him from it. Sonia was surprised by Eevee's coloring. "Where did you get a shiny Eevee?"
"Just south of here." said Lincoln. "I remember from one of the books back at the lab in Wedgehurst that an Eevee can evolve into a Leafeon if it comes in contact with a Leaf Stone."
"That's true." said Sonia. Lincoln kneels down towards Eevee.
"Would you like to use this to evolve into a Leafeon?" asked Lincoln as he holds out the Leaf Stone. His Eevee sniffs at it before touching it with his nose. He then started to glow.
"Eevee's evolving!" said Lola. They all watched as Eevee started to change. When he was done, he was bigger, his body was longer and a dark shade of yellow, his ears and tail now resembled green leaves, and he has green sprouts coming out from his back, torso, and ankles. Lincoln points his Rotom Phone at his newly evolved Eevee.
"Leafeon, the Verdant Pokemon, and an evolved form of Eevee. This Pokémon's tail is blade sharp, with a fantastic cutting edge that can slice right though large trees." said the Rotom Phone.
"Cool." said Lincoln. "This says that he just learned Razor Leaf, and he has the Leaf Guard ability which protects him from status conditions if it's really sunny out."
"Rad." said Luna.
"So what now?" asked Lola.
"We should go to the Pokemon Center and sell the stuff we got from the Tera Dens yesterday." said Lincoln.
"Good call, dude." said Luna. They go in and give the nurse their Pokemon. After that, they went to the PokeMart and sell the valuable items they found the day before for a lot of money. They soon got their Pokemon back and exit the Pokemon Center.
"Ready to go to the stadium?" asked Lincoln.
"Yeah!" everyone else shouts. They all then head over to Turffield Stadium. When they got there, they see Hop standing just outside the front doors.
"Hey, everyone." said Hop as he pulls out his Challenge Band that had something in it.
"What's that in your Challenge Band?" asked Lincoln.
"It's my Grass Gym Badge! Got it in my first try!" said Hop.
"Congratulations, Hop." said Lincoln.
"Thanks, Lincoln." replied Hop. "I reckon I'm just about the greatest when it comes to wrangling Wooloo.. I've had plenty of practice at it, after all."
"What does that have to do with the Gym Badge?" asked Lana.
"I don't want to spoil it for you, guys." said Hop. "I'll see you all later; I'm off to the next gym!" With that, he runs off.
"Boy, he's always in a hurry." said Lincoln. He then looks towards the front doors. "So is everyone ready?"
"Ready as we'll ever be." said Clyde. Everyone else confirms that they were ready also.
"Then let's do this!" said Lincoln. They all enter the stadium to do their first Gym Battle.
