Getting Sam Started
The next morning in Leni, Luna, Lucy, and Sam's tent; Sam was starting to stir. She soon opens her eyes and groggily gets up.
"Ugh...What happened?" asked Sam. She looks around and sees that she was in a tent. "How did I get in this tent?" As she looks around, she sees Leni, Lucy, and Luna were asleep in their sleeping bags. She looks at Luna with a smile and blush on her face and shakes her a little. Luna groans and pulls her sleeping bag over her head.
"Just five more minutes, Mom." Luna groggily says. Sam shakes her some more until Luna finally gives in and rises up.
"Morning, Lunes." said Sam.
"Morning, Sam." Luna says as she yawns. She suddenly wakes up fully as she realized whom she was talking to. "SAM!" She throws her arms around her, making Sam hug her back and nuzzles her cheek.
"It's so rad to see you, Luna." said Sam.
"I'm stoked to see you too, Sam." said Luna. Sam looks around at the inside of the tent.
"How did I get here?" asked Sam.
"Lisa used her Teleportation Pad to send you here." said Luna.
"Wait. So I'm in the Galar Region?!" asked Sam.
"Yeah." said Luna. Sam takes some time to collect herself before calming down.
"Well, at least we're together again." said Sam before kissing Luna on the cheek, making her blush. They hear some giggling and look to see that Leni and Lucy have woken up and were looking at them with smiles on their faces.
"Morning, Sam." said Leni.
"Hi." said Lucy.
"Hey, everyone." said Sam. Her stomach suddenly growled.
"I think we should get started on breakfast." said Luna.
"Totes." said Leni. They all exit the tent, just as everyone else leave their tents.
"Hey, Sam." said Lincoln.
"Morning, everyone." said Sam. After everyone says hi to Sam, they get started on breakfast. Twenty minutes later, after everyone ate, cleaned their dishes, and packed their camping stuff, Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone, and brings up the map of Galar.
"According to the map, we need to travel down Route 5 to get to Hulbury." said Lincoln.
"Where's Route 5?" asked Lana.
"We just need to exit Turffield through the east entrance." said Lincoln.
"Then let's get going." said Lola.
"We should also get Sam a Pokemon of her own." said Luna.
"I'm certain we can find one along the way." said Lincoln.
"We should also get some pokeballs for Sam to use, dudes." said Luna.
"Good idea." said Lincoln. They all go to the nearest Pokemon Center and walk inside. Sam looks around out of curiosity.
"What's this place?" asked Sam.
"This is a Pokemon Center." explained Luna. "It's like a hospital for Pokemon who are tired or hurt from battles."
"It's also a place where trainers can buy stuff they need for when they're travelling." said Lana. Luna walks over to the PokeMart and buys ten pokeballs for Sam. Once she does, the group exits the Pokemon Center and head for the east entrance to Turffield.
"So, are we ready?" asked Sam.
"Yeah, dudette." said Luna.
"Great; let's get this show on the road." said Sam. She grabs Luna's hand, making her blush, and they all leave Turffield, and continue their journey. As they walk by some tall grass, they hear some rustling coming from it.
"What's that?" asked Leni. They all look to see a bipedal Pokemon with light purple fur, and violet eyes that have a blank stare, walking out of the grass.
"Is that a Pokemon?" asked Sam.
"Yeah." said Lincoln as he takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Espurr, the Restraint Pokemon. There's enough psychic power in Espurr to send a wrestler flying, but because this power can't be controlled, Espurr finds it troublesome." said Lincoln's Rotom Phone. The Espurr looks over at the group and walks over to them.
"She's so cute." said Sam. "The 'purr' part of its name reminds me of cats." The Espurr looks up at Sam and stares at her for a while. It's eyes suddenly start glowing and one of Sam's pokeballs comes floats out of her pocket.
"What's it doing?" asked Leni. The pokeball floats over to Espurr and bumps into its forehead, making the pokeball suck it in. The pokeball wiggles a few times before clicking, indicating a successful capture. Everyone stares with astonishment on their faces.
"Whoa." said Luna. "You got your first Pokemon without having to do anything." Sam picks the pokeball off the ground and looks at it.
"Awesome!" cheers Sam as she holds her new Espurr's pokeball up in triumph. "I got my first Pokemon."
"She got her first Pokemon without having to battle it?!" exclaimed Lola.
"Neither did you, me, Leni, and Clyde; Lola." said Lincoln.
"Good point." said Lola.
"Wow; I knew Sam was great with cats, but I didn't expect her to be great with cat Pokemon." said Luna. She then takes out her Rotom Phone to look up Espurr's information. "This says your Espurr's a dudette, she knows Scratch, Leer, Fake Out, Disarming Voice, Confusion, and Covet. She has the Infiltrator ability which makes it if a Pokmeon has a wall it made in front of itself, Espurr can get around it."
"That sounds cool." said Sam. As they head down Route 5, Luna tells her the basics of Pokemon training. They soon come across a small house that had a sign over the door that had egg-shaped pokeballs on it.
"What's this place?" asked Leni. A girl who was standing by the door hears Leni's question.
"This is the Pokemon Nursery." said the girl.
"What's that?" asked Lola.
"This is a place that looks after Pokemon for their trainers." said the girl. "If you want to learn more about this place, there's someone inside who can answer your questions." The group looks at each other.
"Should we check it out?" asked Luna.
"Maybe there's some cute Pokemon inside." suggested Lola.
"Might as well, as long as we're here." said Lincoln. They all head inside and look around. As Luna checks the place out, she sees a Toxel sitting next to a woman.
"Rad; a Toxel." said Luna, getting the woman's attention.
"You know about Toxels?" asked the woman.
"Sure do, ma'am." said Luna. "I caught one a while back and he evolved into a Toxtricity." The woman looks at the Toxel, then back at Sam.
"Would you like to take care of this little one?" asked the woman, surprising Luna.
"How come? Don't you want it?" asked Luna.
"Actually, I found a Pokemon Egg a while back and it hatched into this little one." explained the woman. "Unfortunately, I can't afford the time to take care of it; so can you take care of it for me?" Luna thinks for a second, then looks over at Sam.
"Do you want to train this little dude, Sam?" asked Luna.
"Really?" replied Sam.
"I already have my Toxtrictiy, and this little dude will evolve into one someday." said Luna.
"I'll admit that Toxtricity looked like a rad Pokemon." said Sam. She gives it some thought and decides to have the Toxel for her team.
"Take good care of it." said the woman as she gives Sam Toxel's pokeball.
"Don't worry." said Sam. "Little dude's in good hands." She then returns the Toxel to its pokeball.
"That's so rad, Sam." said Luna. She then shows Sam the information on Toxel. Sam's Toxel was a girl, she had the same moves that Luna's Toxel had when she first caught it, and she had the Static ability. After thanking the woman, the group exits the nursery.
"You're totes off to a good start, Sam." said Leni.
"Yeah!" said Sam. Luna couldn't help but smile at how happy Sam was. "So how do I get my Toxel to become a Toxtricity?"
"She just needs some battle experience to help her evolve." explained Lincoln.
"Is the little dudette gonna be able to handle herself?" asked Sam. "She's practically a baby."
"We'll help her out." said Luna. "And you got your Espurr to help support her."
"Thanks, Luna." said Sam. With that, the group begin to help Sam train her Pokemon. How will Sam fare as a Pokemon trainer?
