Hulbury Gym Battles (Part One)
Inside Hulbury Stadium, the group look around at the other Gym Challengers who were there as well.
"So, what Pokemon does Nessa like to use?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"I think that she uses water type Pokemon from what I remember hearing at the Gym Challenge Opening Ceremony." said Lincoln.
"What type of Pokemon would be good against those?" asked Ronnie Anne.
"Electric, and Grass type moves are the most effective against water type Pokemon." said Lincoln.
"I'll use my Foongus, and maybe my Luxray if I need to." said Ronnie Anne.
"My Toxtricitiy can rock Nessa's Pokemon." said Luna.
"I'll, totes, use my Tsareena." said Leni.
"I'll use my Dartrix, and maybe I'll bring over my Phantump, just in case." said Lucy as she takes out her Rotom Phone and uses it to swap her Woobat for her Phantump.
"I'll use my Cherrim." said Lola.
"Tangrowth can handle anything Nessa's Pokemon throws at us." said Lana.
"My Venusaur will do just fine." said Clyde.
"And I got Leafeon, and maybe I'll bring my Boltund over, just in case." said Lincoln as he uses his Rotom Phone to swap his Alcremie for Boltund, much to the twins' disapproval.
"You better bring her back after the gym battle, Lincoln!" shouts Lola. After Lincoln promised that he would, the group walks over to the staff member.
"Hello. We're all here to challenge Nessa the gym leader." said Lincoln.
"Very well." said the staff member. "Which of you will be attempting the Gym Test first?"
"I will." said Clyde as he steps forward.
"Just put on your uniform, then go through those doors to begin your Gym Test." said the staff member. Clyde does so, and soon arrives in a large room with multiple walkaways, along with large red, yellow, and blue pipe, pouring gallons of water onto parts of them. Another staff member steps forward to explain how the Gym Test works.
"Your Gym Test is to work your way to the other side of the area to that gate over there." said the staff member. "You can control the water coming out of the pipes with the corresponding buttons located all along the walkways. Red buttons control the red pipes, yellow ones control the yellow pipes, and the blue one controls the blue pipes. Once you reach the gate, your Gym Test is complete."
"Got it, sir." said Clyde.
Back in Royal Woods, the Louds who were still there, Clyde's dads, the Santiagos who were still there, and Simon Sharp were watching Clyde begin his Gym Test.
"Whoa." said Lynn Sr. "They really go all out when making these Gym Tests."
"I'll say." said Lori.
"I'm certain our kids will do just fine." said Harold McBride. They all watch as Clyde makes his way through the area. He was smart enough to easily figure out Gym Test, and he soon makes it to the gate, where plumes of smoke come out from the platform in front of it.
"He did it!" said Howard McBride.
"These Gym Tests are so fun to watch." said Bobby.
"And they test a trainer's ability to adapt to new situations as well." said Lisa.
"Now all Clyde has to do is defeat the Gym Leader." said Lynn Jr. Back at Hulbury Stadium, Clyde was coming out of a stadium tunnel with the audience, including his friends, cheering for him.
"We knew you could do it!" cheered Lincoln.
"Totes!" said Leni. As Clyde was approaching the center of the arena, Nessa was doing the same. They soon reach each other, with the two looking at each other.
"Congratulations on passing your Gym Test, young man." said Nessa.
"It wasn't as tough as I thought it was going to be." said Clyde.
"Then you must be good at figuring out puzzles." said Nessa. "Let's see if you're just as good at Pokemon battles." The two then walk to opposite sides of the arena. Once they reach their positions, a referee comes out to explain the rules.
"This match is between the Gym Leader, Nessa; and the Gym Challenger, Clyde McBride." said the referee. "Each trainer will use three Pokemon. Whoever is able to defeat all their opponent's Pokemon is the winner. Let the battle begin." The referee steps to the sidelines as Nessa and Clyde each pull out a pokeball. Nessa throws her pokeball, releasing a white, fishlike Pokemon with some reddish orange on parts of its body and a horn on its head.
"What's that Pokemon?" asked Clyde as he pulls out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Goldeen, the Goldfish Pokemon. Its dorsal and pectoral fins are strongly developed like muscles. It can swim at a speed of five knots." said the Rotom Phone.
"It's so beautiful." said Lola. Back on the battlefield, Clyde throws his pokeball, releasing his Venusaur.
"Goldeen, use Peck!" said Nessa. The Goldeen swims through the air at Venusaur and pokes him with his horn, doing super effective damage, but not nearly enough to knock him out.
"It looked like Clyde's Venusaur barely felt that hit." said the announcer.
"Venusaur, use Vine Whip!" said Clyde. Two vines come out of Venusaur's back towards Nessa's Goldeen at breakneck speed, hitting it, and doing super effective damage, and a little extra thanks to his Rose Incense. The Goldeen falls to the ground, unconscious.
"Goldeen is unable to battle. Venusaur is the winner." said the referee.
"Incredible! Clyde's Venusaur took out Nessa's Goldeen in just one hit!" said the announcer.
"Woohoo! Good work, Clyde!" said Lincoln.
"I feel bad for that Goldeen, but I'm still glad that Clyde won." said Lola. Back on the battlefield, Nessa returned her Goldeen to its pokeball.
"You did your best, Goldeen." said Nessa. She then puts Goldeen's pokeball back on her belt, then pulls out another one. She throws it, releasing a fishlike Pokemon, with a long, slender, brown body, with cream-colored lower jaw, stripes on its sides, and fins. In the audience, Lana takes out her Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Arrokuda, the Rush Pokemon. After it's eaten its fill, its movements become extremely sluggish. That's when Cramorant swallows it up." said the Rotom Phone. Back on the battlefield, Nessa was ready to begin the battle.
"Arrokuda, use Aqua Jet!" said Nessa. Arrokuda's body becomes coated in water, and it zooms at Venusaur at incredible speed, and slams into his forehead, not doing a lot of damage.
"Venusaur, use Razor Leaf!" said Clyde. Venusaur releases a powered-up barrage of leaves out of his body, and they hit Arrokuda, doing super effective damage, and knocking it out.
"Arrokuda is unable to battle. Venusaur is the winner." said the referee.
"Unbelievable! Another of Nessa's Pokemon was beaten with just one move!" said the announcer. "Could Nessa be in trouble?"
Back on the battlefield, Nessa returns her Arrokuda to its pokeball.
"You fought bravely, Arrokuda." said Nessa. She then puts Arrokuda's pokeball back on her belt, then looks over at Clyde. "I see now why Milo lost to you."
"Yeah." said Clyde. "My friends and I trained our Pokemon a lot."
"Even though Milo was defeated by you, don't think I'll be washed away so easily!" said Nessa. She then pulls out her last pokeball and throws it, releasing a large, blue, turtlelike Pokemon with a hard-looking brown and light orange shell, and a light orange lower jaw and hornlike protrusion coming out of its forehead. Lincoln takes out his Rotom Phone and points it at the Pokemon.
"Drednaw, the Bite Pokemon, and the evolved form of Chewtle. This Pokémon rapidly extends its retractable neck to sink its sharp fangs into distant enemies and take them down." said the Rotom Phone.
"And Nessa is down to her last Pokemon. Will she be able to pull off a come-from-behind victory against Clyde's powerful Venusaur?" asked the announcer. Nessa smiles as she sticks her arm up in front of her, showing her Dynamax Band. Clyde stands his ground with a look of resolve on his face.
"So, you're gonna Dynamax your Pokemon?" asked Clyde.
"Yes." said Nessa. "Now prepare to have your chances of victory be washed away by the overwhelming force of power!" She then returns her Drednaw to its pokeball, then uses her Dynamax Band to enlarge it. She then throws her pokeball, releasing her Dynamaxed Drednaw. Back in the audience, Clyde's friends were on the edges of their seats, looking on with anticipation.
"Now we get to see what Clyde's Venusaur's Gigantamax form is like." said Lincoln. Clyde returns his Venusaur to his pokeball, then uses his Dynamax Band to enlarge it. He then throws it as hard as he can, releasing his now Gigantamaxed Venusaur. The petals on the flower on his back now almost completely covered his entire body, and the inner part of it has grown as well. Clyde's friends watch with amazement on their faces.
"That is so cool!" said Lincoln.
"I'll say." said Ronnie Anne.
"This is amazing! Clyde's Venusaur has Gigantamaxed!" exclaimed the announcer. "Will it be enought to beat Nessa's Dynamaxed Drednaw?"
Back in Royal Woods, the Louds, McBride dads, and the Santiagos were looking at Clyde's Gigantamaxed Venusaur with surprise.
"Why does Clyde's Venusaur look a little different?" asked Lynn Jr.
"I thought Dynamaxing just made Pokemon bigger, not change them a little." said Bobby.
"This must be Gigantamaxing." said Lisa. "These Pokemon are becoming more intriguing each time I learn a little about them."
Back at Hulbury Stadium, Clyde looks up at Drednaw with determination on his face.
"Let's try out your G-Max Move, Venusaur!" said Clyde. "Use G-Max Vine Lash!" Venusaur releases two large vines up into the air that started to glow at the tips of them. He then brings them down onto Nessa's Dynamaxed Drednaw, creating a large explosion, and doing lots of super effective damage, due to Drednaw being both part rock and water types. An explosion of energy comes out of Drednaw, which then shrinks down to its original size, unconscious.
"Drednaw is unable to battle, Venusaur is the winner, which means the winner of the match is the challenger, Clyde McBride!" says the referee. The crowd suddenly goes wild.
"This is beyond comprehension! Clyde McBride's Gigantamaxed Venusaur, takes out Nessa's Dynamaxed Drednaw with just one hit, earning him the victory!" said the announcer. Clyde's Venusaur then returns to normal size.
In the audience, Clyde's friends were cheering for his victory.
"You did it, Clyde!" shouts Leni.
"That was so rockin!" shouts Luna.
"Yeah!" shouts Lana. Back in Royal Woods at the Loud House, everyone who was still there was cheering for Clyde as well.
"That was so awesome!" shouts Simon Sharp.
"Our boy won!" cheers Harold. Howard was crying tears of joy.
Back at Hulbury Stadium, Nessa returns her Drednaw to its pokeball.
"Take a good rest, Drednaw." said Nessa with a smile. She puts Drednaw's pokeball back in her belt, then walks over to Clyde. "I thought you'd be blown away by our might, but you weathered the storm, and came out victorious."
"Thank you, Nessa." said Clyde. Nessa pulls out a gym badge that had a blue design on it, along with some pokedollars, and hands them to Clyde.
"You have earned that Water Badge." said Nessa. "I wish you luck as you continue your Gym Challenge."
"Thanks, Nessa." said Clyde. Back in the stadium, Clyde was being congratulated by the others.
"You were amazing out there, Clyde!" said Lincoln.
"Totes incredible!" said Leni. A staff member approaches the group.
"So, which of you will be challenging the gym next?" asked the staff member.
"Ooh! Me, me, me, me!" replied Lana, raising an arm and waving it.
"Very well." replied the staff member. Lana then runs past the staff member and through the door so she can do her gym test.
"The next challenger, Lana Loud will now be taking the gym test." said the announcer. "If she passes, she will battle Nessa for the Water Badge." At the test area, Lana stood there until a whistle sounded through the test area. She then made her way through the area. It was a little difficult for Lana, but she was able to make it through and arrived at the gate, where plumes of smoke come out from the platform in front of it. Back at Royal Woods.
"Lana did it!" said Lynn Sr.
"It looked like she had a little trouble with it, but she pulled through." said Rita.
"She didn't seem to like all that water." said Harold McBride.
"The only way she'll touch water if it's mixed with dirt." said Lynn Jr.
"Now all Lana has to do is defeat Nessa and that Water Badge will literally be hers." said Lori.
Back at the stadium, Lana and Nessa were facing each other.
"This match is between the Gym Leader, Nessa; and the Gym Challenger, Lana Loud." said the referee. "Each trainer will use three Pokemon. Whoever is able to defeat all their opponent's Pokemon is the winner. Let the battle begin." The referee steps to the sidelines as Nessa and Lana each pull out a pokeball.
"Goldeen, go!" said Nessa, throwing Goldeen's pokeball and releasing it.
"Nessa starts off with Goldeen." said the announcer.
"Tangrowth, go!" said Lana, throwing Tangrowth's pokeball and releasing him.
"And Lana responds by summoning a Tangrowth!" said the announcer.
"Go get her, Lana!" said Lola.
"You can do it, little sis!" said Luna. Back at the battle.
"Goldeen, Horn Attack!" said Nessa. Golden flies at Tangrowth and jabs him with its horn, damaging him.
"Tangrowth, Absorb!" said Lana. Tangrowth fires a red beam of energy from his hand and onto Goldeen, doing a lot of damage due to Tangrowth's Rose Incense powering up his grass type attacks, and also healing Tangrowth's wound.
"Goldeen, use Peck!" said Nessa. Goldeen flies at Tangrowth and jabs him with its horn, dealing super effective damage to Tangrowth.
"Tangrowth, Vine Whip!" said Lana. A pair of vines come out of Tangrowth's body and strikes Goldeen, dealing super effective damage and knocking it out.
"Goldeen is unable to battle. Tangrowth wins the match." said the referee.
"Great job, Tangrowth!" said Lana. Back at Royal Woods.
"Yay, Lana!" cheered Rita.
"She did quite well." said Lisa.
"She did a VINE job. Ha ha ha. Get it?" said Luan. Everyone moans in response.
Back at the Hulbury Stadium, Nessa returns Goldeen to its pokeball.
"You did well, Goldeen." said Nessa. She puts Goldeen's pokeball away and pulls out another one. "Arrokuda, go!" She throws Arrokuda's pokeball and releases it.
"And Nessa brings out her Arrokuda!" said the announcer.
"Arrokuda, use Bite!" said Nessa. Arrokuda flies at Tangrowth and bites his arm, damaging him, and making him flinch. "Now use Fury Attack!" Arrokuda flies at Tangrowth and jabs him repeatedly with its snout.
"Oh yeah?! Tangrowth, Mega Drain!" said Lana. Tangrowth releases a stream of green energy from his arm, and it wraps around Arrokuda, draining its energy and knocking it out while healing Tangrowth's wounds.
"Arrokuda is unable to battle! Tangrowth wins!" said the referee.
"Woo-hoo!" cheered Lana. Back at Royal Woods.
"Way to go, Lana!" said Lynn Jr.
"She was sensational!" said Harold McBride.
Back at the stadium, Lincoln and the others were cheering Lana on.
"Go, Lana!" said Leni.
"Just one Pokemon to go, Lana!" said Lincoln.
"We believe in you!" said Lola. Nessa returns Arrokuda to its pokeball.
"You rest now, Arrokuda." said Nessa. She puts Arrokuda's pokeball away and pulls out another one.
"Nessa is now down to her final Pokemon." said the annoucner. "Will it be able to defeat Lana's strong Tangrowth?" Nessa looks at Lana.
"Your Tangrowth is indeed strong, Lana, but let's see how he does against Drednaw." said Nessa and she throws Drednaw's pokeball and releases it. She then returns Drednaw to its pokeball and uses her Dynamax Band to enlarge it.
"I know where this is going." said Lana. Nessa throws Drednaw's pokeball and releases it, now dynamaxed. "Two can play that game!" She returns Tangrowth to its pokeball and uses her Dynamax Band to enlarge it. She throws it and releases Tangrowth, now Dynamaxed.
"It's a battle between two Dynamaxed Pokemon." said the announcer. "Which one will come out the victor?" Back at the arena, both Pokemon faced each other.
"Tangrowth, Max Overgrowth!" said Lana. Tangrowth releases giant seeds from his body and onto the arena floor. Giant mushrooms grow from the floor; they explode into green light, doing super effective damage to Drednaw. Grass grew out of the arena floor.
"And Max Overgrowth has created a Grassy Terrain!" said the announcer.
"Drednaw, Max Strike!" said Nessa. Drednaw summons a geyser of energy from underneath Tangrowth, doing damage to him and lowering his speed. Grassy Terrain heals some of both Pokemon's wounds. "Now use Max Darkness!" Drednaw releases two streams of black energy from its body, and they hit Tangrowth, hurting him, and weakening its special defense.
"It'll take more than that to take us down!" said Lana. "Tangrowth, hit Drednaw with one more Max Overgrowth!" Tangrowth unleashes more seeds onto the arena floor. Mushrooms grow out of the arena floor, and they explode with green energy, doing massive damage to Drednaw due to Rose Incense and Grassy Terrain powering up Tangrowth's grass type moves. Drednaw returns to its regular size and passes out.
"Drednaw is unable to battle! Tangrowth wins! The winner of this gym battle is the challenger, Lana Loud!" said the referee.
"She has done it! Lana's Tangrowth has defeated all three of Nessa's Pokemon and earning her the victory!" said the announcer.
"We did it, Tangrowth!" said Lana. Tangrowth returns to her regular size and Lana runs to him and hugs him. Back at Royal Woods, everyone was cheering.
"Lana won!" said Lynn Sr.
"I never doubted her for a second." said Rita. Back at the stadium, Lincoln and the others were cheering.
"Way to go, Lana!" said Lincoln.
"We're, like, so proud of you." said Leni. Back at the arena, Nessa walks to Lana and Tangrowth.
"You've trained your Tangrowth quite well." said Nessa.
"Thanks, Nessa." said Lana. Nessa reaches into her pocket and pulls out a Water Badge.
"As proof of your victory here, I present you with the Water Badge." said Nessa. She gives Lana the badge, along with pokedollars. Later at the stadium lobby, everyone else was congratulating Lana.
"You were amazing out there, Lana." said Lincoln.
"You and Tangrowth both." said Clyde. A staff member approaches the group.
"So, which of you is next?" asked the staff member. Lola runs up to him.
"I'm up next!" said Lola. Now Lola is going to attempt to earn her Water Badge. Will she manage to pass the Gym Test, and defeat Nessa?
