I don't own anything. This is all for fun
Round 1 Scyther vs Vileplume
Word about the upcoming battle spreaded throughout the school like wildfire. So much so that other classes were cancelling the afternoon classes to watch two kindergarten teachers duke it out or whatever. For crying out loud it is only Zoelle's second day! But it would be a chance for her to get to see the other teachers. Hopefully they are not as rude as Ms. Norton.
Standing on opposite sides of on the designated battle fields, the two young women glared at each other. Not only were they battling in front of students and fellow peers. No. Both Principal Gene Roberts and Mr. Oda was in attendance. Of course all battles were to be submitted and approve the principal. He too wanted to know why his boss hired this young woman. Sure they were looking someone but they weren't desperate!
One of the fifth grade teachers, Mr. Garcia, volunteered to be the referee.
"Okay new teacher you release your first Pokemon!" Garcia announced. He had a slight accent that Zoelle couldn't place her finger on. Like her, he was not native to Kanto. If his accent didn't give it away his looks did. With his long locks of spiky black hair with brown highlights flowing down a little past his shoulders. His slightly dark olive complexion. The way his golden irises set in eyes glisten in the sunlight. The lean muscle build of a Machop and the obvious sleeve tattoo that Garcia barely tried covered up.
Zoelle shook her head to focus. Yes he was handsome but she had to battle to win. Or prove that she wasn't some random person who just got the job. She was of course, but still that was no reason for everyone to be so rude to her.
"Alright Ravage come on out!" Zoelle called out her Scyther. Raising his scythes he cried out. It has been awhile since he has seen the action of battle. Sure he spared with the other colleagues back at that professor's place. But nothing beats the real thing. I
"Hmph how annoying." Norton scoffed. "Vileplume I choose you." With that the flower pokemon came out with a cheery smile on its face.
Upon closer examination Zoelle realized that the walking plant was female. But that wasn't really caught her attention. Nope. It was the size of the petals on Vileplume. They were huge which meant it has very strong toxins. If that was the case she definitely needed to watch out for status affecting moves. Zoelle believed she made the right call choosing Ravage. He was one of her if not the quickest pokemon she had.
"Are you going to stand there all day or are going to make the first move?" Norton asked annoyed.
"Don't you worry. Ravage use double team sword dance!" the new teacher commanded.
The mantis pokemon nodded as he proceeds to make five copies of himself executing sword dance. Ms. Norton taken aback a little couldn't help but commend the strategy. She looked over at the audience for a quick second. The kids looked impressed especially the younger ones. The teachers and other staff members were hard to read. Especially the principal. The director however had a huge smile on his face. Not out of the ordinary but still felt weird. His smile was that of a proud dad instead of that of administrator.
Norton looked back at her opponent. It was something more about this woman than the director was letting on. Something that even Zoelle was not aware of but what could it be? Well whatever it was Norton was not going to let her distract her from this match.
"Raising evasion and attack at the same time. Intriguing but nothing special. She is showing off her talents as a coordinator though." The principal commented.
"She also did gym challenges as well. They do go hand in hand you know." Mr. Oda replied in a boasting manner.
"Indeed sir. I can understand why you chose her to a degree but may I ask why? To my knowledge you used you're strongest team to beat her. And don't get me wrong we needed the extra teacher but we could have made it work for a few weeks with what we have." Principal Roberts explained.
"Beating her was not as easy as everyone thinks. I caught Zoelle during a vulnerable time when everyone was tired. And even then it was challenging. Like me, my friends are getting in age but we stay in shape to knock the youngsters down!" Oda laughed manically.
The principal raised his eyebrow in curiosity. Sure the director enjoyed battling younger people to see their potential(and his own amusement when he does defeat them) but this one was different. The girl was unique of course but he just couldn't understand his boss' soft spot for her. Maybe in due time Oda will tell him but for right now all he can do is observe this match.
"Is that the best you can do?" Norton taunted. "Vileplume use sweet scent!"
Vileplume flaps its petals to release the pink powder in the air causing the clones to disappear and Ravage to temporarily relax. Temporarily of course. Ravage shook it off and resume his battle stance.
"Great now use grassy terrain!"
The field began to be engulfed in green energy. Norton smirked as believing she had the upper hand. With this move in effect, all grass moves will have an extra boost. Sure bug types are resistant to grass types but they were not immune.
"Now Vileplume use stun spore to stop that bug from buzzing" Norton commanded.
"Try to dodge it and use bug buzz!" Zoelle exclaimed.
The mantis pokemon knew that avoiding the spores was a hard task but he managed to do it by flying high in the air for a few seconds. As he descended the wings on his back vibrated with a glow. Pointing his scythes towards the flower pokemon, he released red sound waves knocking her down. A critical hit! Nice.
Vileplume stumbled to get back on feet. If she wasn't part poison that would for sure have ended the match. Her trainer commanded her to use energy ball and with the grassy terrain in effect it should do a nice bit of damage. Luckily the move did manage to hit the scyther.
"Great now use stun spore!" Norton shouted.
Once again yellow spores headed towards Ravage. This time he managed to get caught in it. Leaving him paralyzed. Norton smirked. As long as couldn't move they had the upper hand. A few energy balls should finish off the round. Or so they thought.
Ravage smirked even as couldn't move his body. Out of whatever space pokemon seem to hold items a cheri berry appeared. The bug plopped it into his mouth instantly curing him of his paralysis.
Like her pokemon Zoelle smirked. Since her scyther had great speed she figured that someone would try to slow it down. Whether it be by putting him to sleep or paralyzing him. Basically a 50/50 guess. This time it worked in favor.
"I will say I like that you tried to go for status effects but we are always prepared?" Zoelle bluffed. They were not always prepared but no one needs to know that. Just put on a poker face. "Alright Ravage it's time for Shadow Clone X Jutsu!"
"Huh?" A girl with green hair pondered.
"Is that a real move?" A boy asked.
"I don't think so." Someone else replied.
That was all Zoelle heard in the crowd. Of course no one in the crowd will quite understand but thats okay. It was basically double team with x-scissor. The idea was basically freak the opponent out thinking they were was no escape. It works usually a 8/10 times they use the strategy. And today was one of those days.
Vileplume began panicking and running towards her trainer. Before Norton could recall her back to the pokeball Ravage attacked from the back instantly knocking her out. Victory was his as he held his right scythe in the air while one foot was on the unconscious body of the flower pokemon.
"Vileplume is unable to battle! Scyther is the winner!" Mr. Garcia announced.
Round one, Zoelle.
"Wow Ms. Zo! You're so cool!" Aoki and Lily shouted.
"Seems like her students like her don't you think Roberts?" Mr. Oda says smiling.
Roberts could only nodd. "That maybe sir but it still only the second day and first full day school. I have no doubt the little ones like her. Her credentials as trainer is there as well. But as far core classes and parents how does she hold up? We still have the rest of the year to worry about. And honestly I'm not sure if she is going to make it the rest of the semester. She has a target on her back. Ms. Norton is just the first one to speak up."
"You will make sure that she can use the faculty lounge with no problems right? She has that right as much as anyone else."
Roberts sighed. "I have made last minute accommodations for Ms Morris or Ms. Zo as she like to be called, but I can't guarantee that there won't be any conflicts. I will do my best to minimize petty matches between faculty members. "
"Good I hope so." he replied sternly.
"Mr. Oda I may be stepping out of bounds but you are very fond of Ms. Morris. Why is that?"
Oda sighed and looked at the sky. "Let's just say I have much to make up for. One day Roberts I will tell you the full story... for now let's continue watching the rest of the match."
I wasn't so sure how I would do the battle scenes. I'm not going to lie it is hard trying to make battles exciting lol. I also thought this chapter would be a lot longer too. It seemed like it when I was writing it lol but hey lol.
And what do you think Mr. Oda secret could be?
