Sleepyheads
Luna stepped through the door of her shared flat, Draco following close behind. The two were giggling off the laughter they exchanged earlier on their walk home from their respective jobs. With a swish of her wand, the oil lamps in the entryway sprung to life so they could see what they were doing. Unaware of the passed out Theo in the next room.
They hadn't heard from him all day, which wasn't completely unusual since he was an Unspeakable, but he would occasionally owl them in an attempt to schedule lunch on Wednesdays. The unpredictability of this gesture made it so their concern over his whereabouts was not needed, however, his Wednesdays tended to be on the slower side was all.
Draco removed his outer cloak and entered the adjacent room while Luna went to prepare some snacks. He joined her a few seconds later.
"Theo is knocked out on the couch."
"Oh?" Luna hummed, placing the kettle on the stove for some tea. "He's been home for some time, then."
Draco retrieved two mugs and the loose tea holders, placing them on the counter. "I am pretty sure he's sick. There's tissues everywhere, a fever draught on the end table, and that muggle tele-box thing he insisted on getting is on."
"The poor guy. I'll make him some special tea." Luna turned around to grab a third mug and bumped into Draco, who took the opportunity to wrap his arms around her and pull her close.
"You are a good healer, I have faith in your skills." He gave her a gentle kiss on the forehead. "But you know as well as I do that not even an awakening potion or a natural disaster will rouse Theo once he is asleep."
"This is true." Luna pressed the side of her face against his chest to hear the thrum of his heart. "I suppose we can make the most of the situation, anyway."
She pulled away to get some popcorn going and to pull the kettle off the heat while Draco started prepping his tea. The rumbling snore that started coming from the other room had Luna quirk a smile.
"Like a sleeping dragon."
Draco gave her a mock pout. "I'm your dragon."
Her coy smile made her eyes sparkle as she traced a finger down his jawline. Draco caught it and placed a kiss on the top of her hand. "So you are."
The pair moved into the sitting room where Theo now quietly snored away on their couch. The stringy dark-haired wizard left no room for either of them to even attempt to wedge their way onto it, so Luna opted to sit on the floor between the coffee table and couch after she pulled the throw blanket down over Theo while Draco magicked the mountain of tissues away.
She gently brushed the fringe from Theo's sleeping face, admiring his peaceful features.
Draco rested his head against the couch cushion, fiddling with the remote in front of him. "You know how to work this thing?"
Pulled from her trance, Luna tore her eyes off Theo and gave her attention to Draco. "To an extent. Let me see."
She flipped through the channels and stopped on what looked like a time traveling show with strange aliens and eccentric main characters. Settling into the program, Luna placed the popcorn between her and Draco and stifled giggles, sipped tea, and ate snacks as they wound down into the late night.
Draco found it amusing to lay pieces of popcorn along Theo's face to see if he'd stir. Going so far as to even stack a few up by his ear, and even placed one on the side of his nose.
"You'll be responsible for cleaning in the morning," Luna whispered and nudged his arm.
"Totally worth it." Draco smirked back.
Somewhere down the line the pair slowly grew quieter. Draco laid his head partially on her shoulder and the couch, letting out a yawn. Luna combed her fingers through his hair, focused on the television, when she felt him grow heavier against her side. Theo shifted from behind, causing an arm to dangle over the edge next to her and a flurry of popcorn to shower over the two. She curled her arm around Theo's and rested her head on the cushion, letting out a content breath.
Luna watched the program until she, too, finally succumbed to sleep.
